RECENT DEVELOPMENTS OVER THE LAST YEAR WITH A FAILED REFERENDUM SCOPE AND ABILITY TO ACHIEVE MORE FUNDING HAVE LEFT US IN A LITTLE BIT OF A DIFFICULT POSITION WITH NO LOCAL FUNDING FOR THE ISLANDS PORTION OF WHAT WAS THE OVERALL PROJECT AND WHAT THE TOWN HAS COMMITTED TO DO IS TO DEVELOP A MASTER PLAN BASED ON ALL THE PREVIOUS GOOD WORK THAT'S GONE OVER THE EIGHT OR NINE YEARS I GUESS ON THIS PROJECT TO PUT THOSE IN A MASTER PLAN TO HELP THE TOWN OF DUBLIN ISLAND SECURE FUNDING TO MAKE IMPROVEMENTS THAT ARE NECESSARY WITHIN THIS CORRIDOR AND TO PROVIDE BETTER ACCESS MOBILE MOBILITY AND A SENSE OF PLACE FOR THE STONEY COMMUNITY. THAT PROPOSAL INCLUDES PROVIDING FUEL PARKING, NEW HANGAR SPACE AND OTHER AMENITIES. IT'S AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROJECT WITH LONE PALMETTO. THEY'RE THE LARGEST RESELLER SERIOUS AIRCRAFT AND IT BRINGS 51 JOBS WITH AN AVERAGE SALARY OF $80,000 TO THE ISLAND AT THE MEETING THE BEAUFORT COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION AND A REPRESENTATIVE FROM LONE PALMETTO CAME TO GIVE THEIR PRESENTATION AND THEY RECEIVED UNANIMOUS APPROVAL AT THE BOARD MEETING LAST TO MOVE FORWARD WITH A NON-BINDING LETTER OF INTENT AND THAT FOCUS IS GOING TO BE ON THE LEASE AND THE DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT THIS WILL BE PREPARED AND WILL BE PUT IN FRONT OF COUNTY COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL SHORTLY. SO FROM A TOWN PERSPECTIVE WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT ANY CONCERNS WE HAVE ARE ADDRESSED IN THIS AGREEMENT AND I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THE RESIDENTS THE AIRPORT AS WELL TO IDENTIFY THOSE AND MAKE SURE THAT THOSE ARE ALSO INCLUDED IN THESE AGREEMENTS. THERE IS NO COMMITMENT TO A TIMELINE AS THE ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS NEEDS TO DO THEIR WORK BUT IT IS INCLUDED IN THEIR MASTER PLAN WHICH LAYS OUT THE NEXT FIVE YEARS. SO THAT'S PROJECT NUMBER ONE.

PROJECT NUMBER TWO IS THE MOVEMENT OF TAXIWAY F. SO THIS IS THE TAXIWAY.

SO THE AIRPORT IS GOING TO MOVE TAXIWAY F WHICH IS ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE AIRPORT AN ADDITIONAL 100 FEET CLOSER TO BEACH CITY ROAD. THE REASON FOR THE WORK IS A SAFETY RELATED ISSUE. SO AS THE RUNWAY WAS EXTENDED TO 5000 FEET LARGER PLANES ARE COMING AND THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND THE TAXIWAY DOESN'T MEET THE FAA REQUIREMENTS AND THAT'S WHY THE TAXIWAY NEEDS TO BE MOVED OVER 100 FEET.

THE OTHER TAXIWAY WHICH IS PARALLEL TAXIWAY HAS ALREADY BEEN MOVED AT LAST WEEK'S BOARD MEETING THE AIRPORT APPROVED A CONTRACT TO HIRE TALBERT BRIGHT AND ELLINGTON TO PREPARE THE ENVIRONMENTAL FOR THIS PROJECT WHICH IS THE FIRST STEP IN ORDER TO MOVE 100 FEET THERE WILL BE AN IMPACT TO 12 PROPERTIES WHICH HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED ALONG FENCELINE OF THE AIRPORT. THOSE PROPERTIES NEED TO BE ACQUIRED AND DEMOED IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THIS WORK. IT INCLUDES A BUSINESS ON MATTHEWS DRIVE FOUR ON HUNTER DRIVE TWO ON BLUEJAY WAY THREE ON FRENCH STREET AND TWO ON BEACH CITY ROAD.

AND ALTHOUGH THERE ARE 12 PROPERTIES THERE ARE MORE THAN 12 BUSINESSES.

SO SOME OF THOSE PROPERTIES ARE ONE ENTITY AND PROPERTIES HAVE WAREHOUSES FOR MULTIPLE BUSINESSES OFFICES FOR MULTIPLE BUSINESSES. SO AT THE AIRPORT BOARD MEETING I MADE IT VERY CLEAR THAT BUSINESS RETENTION A PRIORITY FOR TOWN THE TOWN OF HILTON HEAD AND WE FACING CONCERNS REGARDING RELOCATIONS OF OFF THE ISLAND AND THAT THE AIRPORT WILL NEED TO STEP UP TO SUPPORT THESE BUSINESSES BOTH THE OWNERS OF THE LAND AS WELL AS THE BUSINESSES THE LAND SO TO FACILITATE THAT PROCESS JOHN RAMBLES AND I TALKED ABOUT A WORKSHOP TO LAY OUT TRANSITION PLAN, LOOK FOR GRANTS AND RELOCATION PROGRAMS THAT MAY BE AVAILABLE BUT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT THE AIRPORT WOULD LEAD AND THE PUBLIC WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PROVIDE COMMENTS AND FEEDBACK AS THIS PROJECT MOVES ALONG THE LAST PROJECT IS THE MASTER PLAN.
