IT REDUCES THOSE IMPACTS ON OUR SCHOOLS. AND ALSO WHEN WE COUPLE THAT WITH THE JOB CREATION, THE LOCAL JOB CREATION ON ST. HELENA, THAT IS JUST A FURTHER REDUCTION AND RECOGNIZE REDUCTION OF TRAFFIC, UH, ON OUR ROADS. UM, ADDITIONALLY, YOU KNOW, WE THOUGHT WHEN THIS FIRST CAME OUT, IT WAS INTERESTING THAT AT, UH, NATURAL RESOURCES, THERE WAS DISCUSSION AND ACTUALLY $2.7 MILLION OF TAXPAYER MONEY WAS SPENT TO REDUCE OR TAKE OFF SIX UNITS, UH, OF DEVELOPMENT, UM, WITH THE WIDGET POINT PROPERTY. AND THAT SAME NIGHT WE PUT FORWARD THIS, WHICH IS THE REMOVAL OF A HUNDRED UNITS. UH, AND WE'RE ACTUALLY, UH, GOING TO INVEST $3 MILLION BACK INTO THE COMMUNITY. SO NO TAXPAYER FUNDS FOR THAT PERSPECTIVE. AND THAT'S IMPORTANT BOTH FROM THE FRONT END OF THINGS, BUT ALSO THERE'S NO MAINTENANCE. YOU KNOW, THIS, THIS PUTS 360 AREAS INTO OPEN SPACE, UNDEVELOPED AREA, AND THERE'S NO MAINTENANCE FEE, ONGOING FEE TO THE COUNTY. IN FACT, AS PART OF THE PLAN, WHICH I DON'T NECESSARILY KNOW HAS COME UP A WHOLE LOT, BUT, UH, I DID BRIEFLY MENTION AT THE, UH, COUNCIL MEETING THE OTHER DAY IS THAT THERE IS A PROVISION THAT WE'VE INCLUDED IN HERE THAT WOULD, UH, APPLY A QUARTER OF 1% OF THE SALES PRICE OF ALL RESIDENTIAL, UH, PROPERTY ON THIS SITE WOULD BE ALLOCATED SPECIFICALLY FOR INVESTMENT INTO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND TO, UH, OTHER ITEMS OF GULLAH GEECHEE CULTURE. HELENA IN THE CORNERS COMMUNITY. THAT THAT TWO AND A HALF MILLION DOLLARS PLUS THE ROUGHLY HALF A MILLION DOLLAR IN PROPERTY DONATION IS REALLY IMPORTANT. AND THAT'S CRITICAL. AND THAT THAT'S A, THAT'S A PRIVATE INVESTMENT THAT, UH, THE PUBLIC, THE TAXPAYERS DON'T HAVE TO BE USED, UH, FOR, AND AND THAT'S MONEY THAT COULD BE USED IN OTHER DISTRICTS. THERE ARE OTHER NEEDS. THERE'S PLENTY OF NEEDS, WHETHER IT BE INFRASTRUCTURE, OTHER COMMUNITY, UH, ASPECTS IN OTHER DISTRICTS AND ACROSS THE COUNTY. AND SO THOSE COULD BE USED OTHER PLACES. SO AS WE THINK ABOUT THESE, THESE BENEFITS AND THESE ITEMS, THESE ARE NOT JUST, THEY ARE, SOME OF 'EM ARE HYPER-LOCAL TO ST. HELENA, BUT THOSE ARE FUNDS WHICH CAN BE REALLOCATED, UH, TO OTHER PLACES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY AS, AS Y'ALL SEE FIT. SO I APPRECIATE THE TIME AND, UH, LOOK FORWARD TO TALKING TO YOU ABOUT IT MORE. UM, AS WELL AS, [00:35:01] UH, UH, THE NOW TRANSFORM FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR PERFORMING ARTS CENTER INTO COMMUNITY CULTURAL EVENTS CENTER. IN THE SUMMARY OF THEIR FINAL DOCUMENT ISSUED TO, UH, UH, BEAUTIFUL COUNTY IN APRIL, PRESENTED IN SEPTEMBER OF 24, UM, THEY DISCUSSED HOW DECADES OF DISINVESTMENT IN THE AREA, UH, HAVE LED TO A, A NEED. AS WE'VE ALL HEARD, FOR COMMUNITY RESOURCES, WE'VE HEARD TIME AND TIME AGAIN, UH, AT, AT THE MAJORITY OF COUNTY COUNCIL OR THE COUNTY COUNCIL MEETINGS, NOT JUST COMMITTEE. THERE, THERE IS A NEED FOR REC CENTERS. THERE'S A NEED FOR MULTIPURPOSE SPACE. AND NOT JUST GYMS, NOT JUST, UH, UM, SPLASH PADS, BUT, UM, A CON A CONFLUENCE OF YOUNG, OLD, BLACK, WHITE, YOU KNOW, SENIORS, KIDS, UH, IN THE SAME PLACE. THE SUMMARY OF A REQUEST FOR WHAT TYPES OF ARTS EVENTS ARE NEEDED ON THE ISLAND, UH, YIELDS THE TOP 10 THINGS HAVING NOTHING TO DO WITH ARTS.
