HE'S HERE. SO CHRISTOPHER, OUR NEWLY HIRED DEPUTY DIRECTOR, COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES. HE STARTED WITH THE COUNTY JANUARY 2025.

AS DEPUTY DIRECTOR HE SITS WITH THE OVERALL MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS OF THE SHELTER.

HE WILL MANAGE DAILY OPERATIONS THE SHELTER AS WELL AS SUPPORT THE ENFORCEMENT OF STATE LAW AND COUNTY ANIMAL ORDINANCES. ORIGINALLY FROM THE OUTER BANKS OF NORTH CAROLINA, GREAT CHRIS

HAS SPENT NEARLY TWO DECADES IN THE ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL INDUSTRY WORKING IN NORTH CAROLINA, VIRGINIA, SEATTLE, WASHINGTON AND CENTRAL FLORIDA. DURING THIS TIME HE'S HELD POSITIONS A KENNEL TECHNICIAN, VETERINARIAN TECHNICIAN, ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER TRAINING OFFICER HAS SPENT THE LAST EIGHT YEARS IN MANAGEMENT ROLES WITHIN ANIMAL SHELTERS IN CENTRAL FLORIDA. IN HIS SPARE TIME HE ENJOYS BEING OUTSIDE KAYAKING OR COVERED IN OIL AND GREASE WORKING ON A PROJECT CAR. WHAT KIND OF CAR YOU GET RIGHT ? IT'S A 92 DODGE STEALTH. OKAY.

WE'RE PROUD TO HIGHLIGHT THE SUCCESS OF BEAUFORT COUNTY'S INTERNSHIP PROGRAM WHICH OFFERS STUDENTS VALUABLE HANDS EXPERIENCE WHILE CONTRIBUTING TO THE COMMUNITY.

TONIGHT I WOULD LIKE TO RECOGNIZE EXCEPTIONAL STUDENTS. I THINK THEY'RE ALL HERE BUT MAYBE ONE OR TWO OR NOT THAT SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THEIR 15 WEEK INTERNSHIP GAINING SKILLS AND INSIGHTS THAT WILL SERVE THEM IN THEIR FUTURE CAREERS. ADDITIONALLY, WE WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH THE COUNCIL PUBLIC A SHORT VIDEO HIGHLIGHTING OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM SO I WE'RE READY TO GO WITH THAT AS AN INTERN I AM EAGER TO LEARN AND I LIKE I CAN REALLY GET IN HOW TO DO ALL THE WORK THAT IS GIVEN AND IT WASN'T WORK THAT WAS SET ASIDE FOR US IT IS THE WORK THAT THEY DO INTEGRAL HERE ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS SEEING PROFESSIONALS WHO WORK EVERY DAY LEARNING SOMEONE WITH A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THEY DO ON A DAILY BASIS AS WELL AS THE JUDGE AND THE ATTORNEYS AND TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SIT IN ON ME, SEE WHAT THE FUTURE WORK THAT I WOULD LIKE TO DO ONE DAY I MEAN I REALLY CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH.

IT'S BEEN AMAZING. I'VE ALSO LEARNED A LOT OF HOW TO WORK WITH THE COMMUNITY IN OUR PROGRAMS WORKING WITH DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS AND ACTUALLY WATCHING DESTINY EXPLAINING THAT A CERTAIN THINGS WITH OUR NATURE PROGRAMS. I THINK IT'S VERY COOL TO GET OUT THERE, GET THE EXPERIENCE AND LEARN HOW TO WORK WITH OUR COMMUNITY TO EDUCATE THEM. IT'S VERY INTERESTING LEARNED A LOT AND YOU'RE ABLE TO DO A LOT AND ALSO ADVOCATE WITH YOU. IT'S REALLY COOL TO LEARN ABOUT ALL THIS STUFF TOO.

I LOVE ANIMALS. THEY'RE LIKE LIFE SO BEING ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF THEM AND LIKE BEING THE WORK HERE AND LIKE A PLACE THAT WANTS TO ADOPT THEM OUT AND TAKE CARE OF THEM AND CURE THEM AND STUFF LIKE THAT. SO BEING ABLE TO BE A PART OF THAT JUST REALLY SPOKE TO ME.
