YOU'LL START SEEING THAT WORK REALLY BETWEEN MARCH 31 AND APRIL SEVEN.

WE WERE WAITING TO SEE IF THAT LANDSCAPING WAS GONNA COME BACK AFTER THE FREEZE AND IT, AND IT DIDN'T.

    THANKS FOR BEING HERE.

    OF COURSE.

    ALRIGHT.

THE TOWN OF HILTON HEAD ISLAND DISABILITIES AT W AWARENESS MONTH PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES, THEIR FAMILIES, FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS, AND COWORKERS ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO FOCUS ON THE ABILITIES OF ALL PEOPLE.

AND WHEREAS THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO INCREASE THEIR AWARENESS IS THROUGH EVERYONE'S ACTIVE PARTICIPATION AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES AND THE OPENNESS TO LEARN AND ACKNOWLEDGE EACH, EACH INDIVIDUAL'S CONTRIBUTION.

AND WHEREAS OPPORTUNITIES FOR CITIZENS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES TO FUNCTION AS INDEPENDENTLY AND PRODUCTIVELY AS POSSIBLE MUST BE FOSTERED IN OUR COMMUNITY.

AND TO HONOR THE DEDICATION OF THE CAREGIVERS WHO BRING SUPPORT AND HOPE TO THEIR FELLOW CITIZENS AND TESTIMONY.

WHEREOF, I HEAR UNTO SET MY HAND AND CALL US THIS SEAL OF THE TOWN OF HILTON HEAD ISLAND TO BE, TO BE AFFIXED THIS 18TH DAY OF MARCH IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD, 2025.

    CONGRATULATIONS.

    THANK YOU.

THANK, WOULD YOU, I DON'T KNOW, WOULD YOU GUYS LIKE ME TO SAY A FEW WORDS? OH, SURE.

    OKAY, COOL.

THANK, HELLO, UH, MAYOR COUNCILMAN, UH, COUNCIL MEMBERS, UH, TOWN MANAGER AND CITIZENS.

MY NAME IS GALEN STIR, CMO.

I AM THE CHAIR OF THE DISABILITIES AND SPEC IN BEAUFORT COUNTY DISABILITIES AND SPECIAL NEEDS DEPARTMENTS ADVISORY BOARD.

UM, WHAT I, ONE, I WANT TO THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH FOR THIS PROCLAMATION AND IT, UH, REALLY MEANS A LOT TO BE ABLE TO BRING AWARENESS TO, UH, TO DISABILITIES AND THE INDIVIDUALS THAT LIVE WITH THEM.

UH, ONE OF THEM IS RIGHT HERE.

UM, I HAVE WORKED IN, I HAVE, UM, BENEFITED FROM DISABILITY SERVICES, UH, ALL THROUGH SCHOOL.

UH, I THEN WORKED, UH, MY FAMILY WORKED WITH INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES IN OUR HOME, UH, CARETAKING THEM.

THEN FROM THERE I'VE WORKED IN DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS DOING THIS WORK MYSELF, BOTH AS DIRECT SUPPORT AND, UH, AND OR DIRECT SERVICE AND ALSO CASE MANAGEMENT.

AND NOW I WORK IN AN I NOW I'M HERE IN AN ADVISORY ROLE.

AND, UH, WHAT I WANNA SAY IS THAT THE HARD WORK AND DEDICATION OF EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE OVER AT BEAUFORT COUNTY DISABILITIES AND SPECIAL NEEDS IS IMMEASURABLE.

HONESTLY, THEY DO SUCH WONDERFUL WORK TO SUPPORT THE,

    [00:10:01]

AND FOSTER THE INDEPENDENCE OF EVERY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL THAT THEY'RE WORKING WITH FROM WHEN THEY'RE DOING THINGS FOR EARLY INTERVENTION, THEN SUPPORT WHILE THE SCHOOL SYSTEM IS SUPPORTING THEM AS THEY'RE GROWING UP.

AND THEN WHEN THEY BECOME ADULTS AND NEED SERVICES AS ADULTS TO HELP FOSTER THEIR INDEPENDENCE.

AND THE COMMITMENT THAT THOSE EMPLOYEES HAVE TO THEIR JOBS IS INSPIRING.

AND THEN THE INDIVIDUALS THAT WORK WITH THEM AND ALL THE THINGS THAT YOU, THAT AN INDIVIDUAL MAY NOT FEEL LIKE THAT PERSON IS CAPABLE OF DOING, THAT THEY ARE.

AND THERE ARE MANY DISABILITIES THAT GO UNSEEN.

ONES WHERE, YOU KNOW, YOU DON'T NECESSARILY SEE A PHYSICAL AILMENT, BUT MORE OF A MENTAL, UH, A MENTAL DISABILITY GOING ON, OR THEIR NEEDS ARE NOT AS HIGH AS OTHERS.

IT'S STILL IMPORTANT TO RECOGNIZE EVERY SINGLE ONE.

AND THE FACT THAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING THIS TODAY IS WONDERFUL.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND EVERYONE HAVE A WONDERFUL MARCH.

    THANK YOU.

    THANK YOU.

    THANK .

    THANK YOU.

    THANK YOU.

THANK YOU FOR THAT MORNING, MAYOR.

NEXT WE'LL MOVE ON TO GENERAL REPORTS FROM TOWN COUNCIL.

DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY GENERAL REPORTS AT THIS TIME? MR. BROWN? YES, MR. MAY.

    THANK YOU.

    UH, GREAT AFTERNOON TO EVERYONE.

UM, SOME OF YOU MAY HAVE JOINED US AT OUR STRATEGIC PLANNING RETREAT, UM, A FEW WEEKS AGO.

WE ARE STILL AWAITING A DEEPER CONVERSATION AROUND OUR PRIORITIES AND OUR STRATEGIC PLAN FOR THE NEXT THREE TO FIVE YEARS.

UH, AT THIS POINT, WE ARE STILL OPERATING UNDER THE CURRENT STRATEGIC PLAN THAT WAS ADOPTED.

UM, WE TALKED A BIT ABOUT OUR COMMITTEE STRUCTURE DURING THAT EVENT, AND WE HAVE MADE A CHANGE, UM, TO A THREE PERSON COMMITTEE VERSUS A FOUR PERSON COMMITTEE, WHICH I THINK WE ALL AGREED MADE A LOT OF SENSE BECAUSE FOUR PERSONS REPRESENT A QUORUM OF COUNCIL THAT WE DO NOT WANT.

WE ALSO MADE A COMMITMENT TO HAVE ALL COUNCIL PERSONS PARTICIPATE IN THOSE COMMITTEE MEETINGS.

SO THAT ALL I HEARD AT THE WORKING LEVEL.

    OKAY.

I ALWAYS SORT OF VIEWED THOSE COMMITTEE MEETINGS AS, UH, ENHANCED WORKSHOPS.

SO WE CAN TALK THROUGH THINGS AND GIVE STAFF VERY DIRECT INFORMATION AS TO WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE AS A FINISHED PRODUCT.

AND I JUST WANNA FOCUS A LITTLE BIT ON FINISHED PRODUCT SO THAT THE COMMUNITY AND THE STAFF HAVE CONFIDENCE THAT IF THERE ARE ITEMS THAT ARE IN OUR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN OR OUR STRATEGIC PLAN THAT WILL LEAD TO POLICY DECISIONS MADE BY THIS COUNCIL, THAT THE COMMITTEES ARE, ARE PLAYING A ROLE OF PUTTING TOGETHER A PRODUCT THAT THE FULL COUNCIL WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO VOTE ON.

    IT.

IT IS NOT A, IT IS NOT A VETO OPPORTUNITY AT THE COMMITTEE LEVEL.

UH, WE ARE TO WORK THROUGH ISSUES AND BRING FORTH PRODUCT TO THE ENTIRE COUNCIL TO ULTIMATELY VOTE ON.

SO, I, I JUST WANNA MAKE SURE I SAY THAT OUT LOUD TO THE COMMUNITY.

UM, I, I'VE BEEN ASKED A LOT OF QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS.

I KNOW THAT OUR STAFF, OUR VOLUNTEERS THAT WORK ON, UM, INITIATIVES SUCH AS HOUSING, THEY WANT THE CONFIDENCE TO KNOW THAT WHAT THEY PUT FORWARD, ALTHOUGH WE MAY NOT AGREE ON IT, WE WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DECISION AT THE END OF THE DAY AS A FULL COUNCIL.

UH, SO THOSE ARE MY COMMENTS DURING GENERAL REPORT, MR. MAYOR.

I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT FOR US TO SAY OUT LOUD TO THE COMMUNITY THAT WE MAY HAVE CHANGED THE STRUCTURE, BUT THE OUTCOME IS STILL GOING TO BE THE SAME.

    ALRIGHT, THANK YOU.

OTHER GENERAL REPORTS, MS. BECKER? UM, JUST TO FOLLOW UP TO THAT REPORT, UM, THAT WAS AN AWFUL LOT TO HAVE LAID ON THE TABLE, THOUGH.

I'M NOT SURE THAT THERE WAS A COMPLETE CONSENSUS THAT THAT WAS A STEP FORWARD.

THE PROCESS THAT WE'VE USED PREVIOUSLY, UM, DOES NOT CONS COINCIDE WITH THOSE STATEMENTS.

AND SO, UM, IF WE'RE WORKING UNDER OLD POLICIES, THEN WE NEED TO CONTINUE TO DO THAT UNTIL SUCH TIME THAT THIS ENTIRE COUNCIL

    [00:15:01]

HAS HAD THAT DISCUSSION, DISCUSSION AND MADE THOSE DECISIONS.

    BUT THANK YOU SO MUCH.

    THANK YOU, MS. BRYSON.

SIR, JUST ON ANOTHER NOTE, A QUICK REPORT.

UH, HILTON HEAD INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION CONCLUDED LAST NIGHT WITH AN INCREDIBLE CONCERT, UM, AT FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, ALSO, ST.

LUKE'S ANGLICAN CHURCH, UM, HAD, UH, UH, HOSTED SOME OF THE COMPETITION.

THE COMPETITORS WERE FROM A TOTAL OF 10 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES, UM, SPOKE MANY DIFFERENT LANGUAGES.

UM, AND, UH, IN ADDITION TO THOSE WHO REACHED THE SEMIFINALS AND FINALS, UH, THERE WERE AMBASSADORS GOING OUT TO THE LOCAL SCHOOL SYSTEMS, ALSO TO RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES.

UM, AND, UH, LUNCH AT THE ROTARY CLUB.

UH, SO A TOTAL OF 1500 FOLKS ALSO HEARD THOSE COMPETITORS PLAY.

    THAT WAS INCREDIBLE MUSIC.

UH, KUDOS TO THE HILTON HEAD INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION COMMITTEE AND ALL THOSE VOLUNTEERS.

UM, ALSO THE HILTON HEAD, UH, SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PERFORM LAST NIGHT, THREE INCREDIBLE, UM, SYMPHONIES, UH, WITH THE THREE FINALISTS.

UM, YOU WON'T FIND A FINER DISPLAY OF THAT KIND OF MUSIC ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.

    IT REALLY WAS.

IT, IT MAKES US PROUD AS A SMALL COMMUNITY TO HAVE THAT KIND OF MUSIC IN OUR COMMUNITY.

SO CONGRATULATIONS TO THE COMPETITION COMMITTEE.

UH, TO ALL THOSE WHO PERFORMED, AND TO ALL THOSE MANY, MANY VOLUNTEERS WHO WORKED HARD TO PUT DIS ON, WE SHOULD BE DULY PROUD.

    ABSOLUTELY, MS. BECKER.

AND I'D LIKE TO FOLLOW UP, UM, ON COUNCILWOMAN BRYSON'S COMMENTS, UH, TOO AS AN ATTENDANCE WITH MY HUSBAND.

AND IT WAS AN INCREDIBLE EVENING.

AND I ALSO WANT TO GIVE YOU, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR INTRODUCTION TO THE EVENING.

YOU DID A PHENOMENAL JOB AND REPRESENTED OUR TOWN WELL.

AND, UM, IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO GO IN THE PAST, PLEASE NEXT YEAR MAKE TIME IN YOUR SCHEDULE FOR EVEN ONE EVENING.

IT IS, UM, EVERYTHING YOU JUST HEARD AND MORE.

    YEP.

AND THANK YOU FOR WELCOMING EVERYBODY LAST NIGHT.

UM, REAL QUICK, YOU KNOW, UNFORTUNATELY, SUNDAY ST.

    PATTY'S DAY PARADE WAS CANCELED.

    WHAT A TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE THING.

UM, THAT COMMITTEE REALLY PUT IN A LOT OF WORK OVER THE PAST YEAR TO, TO CREATE A FUN DAY.

UM, MOTHER NATURE HAS DIFFERENCE OF OPINIONS SOMETIMES.

SO, YOU KNOW, NEXT YEAR LOOK FOR THE 40TH 42ND, UH, , YOU KNOW, PARADE.

BUT, UM, JUST A KUDOS TO THEM FOR ALL THE GREAT WORK THAT THEY PUT INTO IT.

AND JUST THINK THEY NEED TO BE RECOGNIZED.

AS WELL AS ON SATURDAY NIGHT, THERE WERE SOME GREAT ORGANIZATIONS THAT WERE RECOGNIZED BY THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, SOME GREAT ORGANIZATIONS, SOME GREAT INDIVIDUALS THAT REALLY HAVE HELPED TO MAKE THIS EVEN A GREATER COMMUNITY THAN THAN WHAT IT COULD BE.

SO JUST A KUDOS TO THEM AS WELL.

SO NOW WE WILL MOVE ON TO, UH, INDIVIDUAL REPORTS.

UH, MS. BECKER LOW COUNTRY, LOW COUNTRY AREA TRANSPORTATION STUDY.

I DO NOT HAVE A REPORT FROM, UM, LAST MONTH.

OUR NEXT MEETING IS APRIL 4TH, AND I WILL REPORT BACK AFTER THAT.

    ALL RIGHT.

UH, BUFORT COUNTY AIRPORTS BOARD, MS. HUNTER, PHASE ONE, OH, THAT'S LOUD.

    JAMES BAPTIST CHURCH'S RELOCATION.

BILL HERB HERSMAN WILL BE ADVOCATING FOR THIS IN THE HOUSE.

UM, COMMERCIAL PASSENGER TOTALS ARE DOWN, UH, IN JANUARY MINUS 2.5%, WHICH ISN'T BAD CONSIDERING THE AIRPORT HAD TO SHUT DOWN FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS DUE TO SNOW.

AND, UH, FEBRUARY YEAR TO DATE, HOWEVER, IS DOWN 12.6% YEAR TO DATE.

AND I'LL BE LOOKING FOR AN OPPORTUNITY TO ORGANIZE A SITE TOUR FOR TOWN COUNCIL SO THAT YOU CAN SEE WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE TERMINAL, UM, RENOVATION AND, AND UH, SPACE.

    AWESOME, THANK YOU.

NEXT, WE'LL GO ON TO THE SOUTHERN LOW COUNTRY REGIONAL BOARD, AND I'LL GO AHEAD AND TAKE THAT ONE.

AND SHE TALKED ABOUT THEIR GOALS FOR THE, FOR THE COUNTY FOR 2025.

UM, GETTING OUT TO THE PUBLIC AND HAVING MEETINGS WITH, YOU KNOW, MUNICIPALITIES IN THEIR HOMETOWNS.

UM, I THINK IT'S GREAT LEADERSHIP THAT THEY'RE PUTTING FORWARD AND COMMUNICATION TO MAKE CERTAIN THAT WE'RE ALL WORKING TOGETHER FOR THE BETTERMENT OF OUR COMMUNITY.

UM, JASPER COUNTY, UH, COUNCILMAN JOHN KEMP.

HE ALSO, UH, SPOKE IN, IN REFERENCE TO THE SAME THING ABOUT HOW THEY'RE GONNA GET OUT AND WORK MORE WITH, WITH THE MUNICIPALITIES IN JASPER COUNTY.

UM, THERE WAS A QUICK RECAP OF THE 2024 SALES TAX REFERENDUM, UM, CHALLENGES, ISSUES WHAT MAY GO ON IN THE FUTURE, BUT NO DECISIONS OR, YOU KNOW, OBVIOUSLY SOCO DOESN'T MAKE ANY DECISIONS.

BUT, UM, JUST TO KIND OF A RECAP ON THAT AND THEN FUTURE DISCUSSIONS COMING FORWARD.

UM, THEY'RE LOOKING AT, UM, WELL, UM, I'M TRYING TO REMEMBER WHAT IT IS NEXT WEEK THAT THEY'RE DOING.

OH, PLASTIC BAN, PLASTIC BAG BAN IS COMING BACK AROUND FOR DISCUSSION, UM, TALKING ABOUT SOME BOARD SUBCOMMITTEES TO MAKE CERTAIN THAT EVERYTHING IS BEING ADDRESSED APPROPRIATELY.

UM, SO THAT'S THAT FOR, FOR SO LOCO.

UH, BY THE END OF 28, THEY'LL BE INTO ANOTHER MILLION SQUARE FEET OF SPACE GENERATING ANYWHERE BETWEEN 400 AND 550 JOBS.

UM, AND I, I WANNA TAKE A MOMENT AND EXPAND ON THIS JUST A LITTLE BIT.

UH, AS WE'RE TALKING ABOUT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT THROUGHOUT BEAUFORT AND JASPER COUNTIES, WE ALSO NEED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IT MEANS TO US IN TERMS OF EMPLOYEES AND WHAT CHALLENGES WE ARE GOING TO FACE.

UM, I'VE BEEN HAVING CONVERSATIONS WITH MAYOR WILLIAMS TO FIGURE OUT WAYS THAT WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO ATTRACT SOME OF THESE BUSINESSES, HEADQUARTERS AND OR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT SITES OR OTHER ASPECTS THAT COULD BE HELD ON HILTON HEAD BECAUSE THOSE ARE THE HIGHER PAYING JOBS AND THEY MAY WISH TO LIVE HERE.

BUT THESE ARE SOME THINGS THAT I'VE ALSO ASKED, UM, UH, TOWN MANAGER GRUBER, UM, IF YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO COME IN AND, AND TALK TO US AND LET US KNOW WHAT THINGS ARE BEING PROPOSED FOR HARDY V.

I, I'LL GET Y'ALL TAKEN CARE OF THERE, UH, .

BUT, UH, NO, TODAY WAS, UH, A REALLY GOOD TOPIC, UH, WITH OUR AFFILIATED AGENCIES THAT HAVE APPROACHED THE TOWN FOR, UH, FUNDING.

UM, OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS A LOT OF INFORMATION PROVIDED TO US BY EACH ONE OF THOSE AGENCIES.

UM, UH, ALL OF COUNCIL, UM, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE MAYOR, WHICH I KNOW YOU WERE ONLINE WATCHING, UH, PARTICIPATED IN THE CONVERSATION OUTSIDE OF JUST THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS.

UH, SO ULTIMATELY THERE WAS, UM, A RECOMMENDATION MADE THAT WILL GO TO THE BUDGET PROCESS.

UH, SO WE'LL SEE THE ALLOCATIONS OF AROUND $1.9 MILLION OF FUNDING FOR AFFILIATE AGENCIES TO BE CONSIDERED BY THIS COUNCIL AT FIRST READING OF OUR BUDGET.

WE ALSO HAD A DISCUSSION AROUND, UM, THE MOU PROCESS.

UH, SOME OF OUR AFFILIATE AGENCIES HAVE MOUS, SOME DO NOT.

UH, WE WANT TO GET MORE CONSISTENT WITH THAT.

UM, SO WE'VE CHARGED STAFF WITH MOVING FORWARD WITH HAVING CONVERSATIONS WITH OUR PARTNERS ABOUT, UH, REVISING OR CREATING MOUS.

UH, WE ALSO GAVE STAFF, UH, DIRECTION TO TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT OUR AFFILIATED AGENCY CRITERIA AND HOW WE GET TO THE POINT OF APPROVAL.

UH, SO THAT, UM, THAT WILL BE IN THE MAKING, UM, WITH STAFF AND OUR TOWN ATTORNEY MOVING FORWARD.

    THAT'S THE REPORT, SIR.

IS THERE A MOTION I MOVE TO ADOPT THE ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING EXECUTION AND DELIVERY OF A LONG-TERM LEASE BETWEEN THE TOWN AND SANDALWOOD COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY OF TOWN ON PROPERTY ON AUGUSTA LANE ON SECOND READING.

BUT BY THE GRACE OF GOD, I HAVE REMAINED FAITHFUL AND RESILIENT.

AND THIS WILL BE A RESILIENT PANTRY SURROUNDED BY NATURE.

EVERY TREE WILL BE PROTECTED BECAUSE OF ONE OF MY BELOVED INDIAN SAINTS.

I TRAVEL TO INDIA EVERY YEAR FOR A MONTH FOR MY HEALING FROM CANCER.

    SAINTS ARE LIKE TREES.

THEY DO NOT CALL TO ANYONE, NEITHER DO THEY SEND ANYONE AWAY.

THEY GIVE SHELTER TO WHOEVER CARES TO COME, BE IT A MAN, WOMAN, CHILD, OR ANIMAL.

IF YOU SIT UNDER A TREE, IT'LL PROTECT YOU FROM THE WEATHER, FROM THE SCORCHING SUN, AS WELL AS FROM THE POURING RAIN.

IT WILL GIVE YOU FLOWERS AND FRUIT, WHETHER A HUMAN BEING ENJOYS THEM OR A BIRD TASTES OF THEM MATTERS LITTLE TO THE TREE.

ITS PRODUCE IS THERE FOR ANYONE WHO COMES AND TAKES IT.

AND THIS ZI PANTRY THAT YOU HAVE ALL SUPPORTED WILL DO JUST THAT.

    SO I THANK YOU.

    ALL RIGHT, THANK YOU.

    THAT'S ALL.

    THAT'S ALL.

    THANK YOU.

    NOW WE'LL CALL THE VOTE.

ALL THOSE IN FAVOR OF THE MOTION TO CONSIDERING THE ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF THE DELIVERY OF LONG-TERM LEASE BETWEEN THE TOWN AND SAND WOOD COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY OF THE TOWN OWNED PROPERTY ON AUGUSTA LANE.

    MOTION BY MS. BRYSON.

    SECOND BY MR. ALFORD.

PLEASE IGN SIGNIFY BY RAISING YOUR RIGHT HAND APPROVAL.

    ALL THOSE OPPOSED.

    MOTION CARRIES SIX TO ONE.

    THANK YOU, JOHN.

THANK YOU FOR THAT GREAT PRESENTATION, .

NEXT WE'LL MOVE INTO PUBLIC COMMENT ON NON AGENDA ITEMS. I WOULD LIKE TO REMIND EVERYBODY OF THE NEW ORDINANCE THAT WAS ADOPTED IN JUNE THAT STATES THAT EVERYONE WISHING TO MAKE A PUBLIC COMMENT MUST FILL OUT A FORM PRIOR TO THE MEETING.

KIM, IS ANYBODY SIGNED UP TO SPEAK? YES, WE DO.

HEATHER, RAF I DO NOT SEE HER.

BRIAN ZI, MR. MAYOR, TOWN COUNCIL.

    TOWN MANAGER CITIZENS.

MY NAME IS BRIAN THEREI AND UM, I'M HERE TO REPRESENT THE SEA TURTLE PATROL PROGRAM.

I LIVE IN, UH, PORT ROYAL PLANTATION, UH, WHICH IS IN WARD SIX, PROUDLY REPRESENTED BY MELINDA TONNER.

AND, UM, WHEN WE MOVED HERE 10 YEARS AGO, WE GOT INVOLVED WITH AMBER C**N AND HER SEA TURTLE PROGRAM TO START SOMETHING CALLED WHOLE PATROL ON THE BEACH.

THAT HAD KIND OF A DUBIOUS DISTINCTION BECAUSE A LOT OF PEOPLE THOUGHT THAT MEANT SOMETHING ELSE.

BUT THE REALITY WAS BACK THEN WE WERE SEEING HOLES ON THE BEACH THAT WERE FOUR TO SIX FEET DEEP.

IN FACT, THERE ARE PICTURES OF ME AND SOME OF THESE HOLES ROLLING.

MY HEAD AND SHOULDERS ARE COMING OUT OF THE HOLE.

AND THE TOWN, UH, THROUGH THEIR, THEIR DUE DILIGENCE OF HELPING US MANAGE TO PASS AN ORDINANCE A FEW YEARS LATER THAT LIMITED THE SIZE OF HOLES AND SHOVELS ON THE BEACH.

SO WE'RE, WE'RE VERY, VERY PROUD OF THAT.

AND, UM, AS THINGS MOVED ALONG, UH, THE, THE, UH, PROGRAM HAD A VARIOUS NUMBER OF, OF, UH, NAME CHANGES AND NOW IT'S CALLED SEA TURTLE PATROL, HHI.

AND AS PART OF THAT, THERE'VE BEEN A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT SUB-PROGRAMS GOING ON, ONE OF WHICH IS NOW THE SEA TURTLE FRIENDLY CERTIFIED HOTEL PROGRAM FOR HOTELS.

AND, UM, TIMESHARES THROUGH THE, UM, ADMINISTRATION OF MY WIFE ELAINE, HAS ACTUALLY CAUSED A BIT OF COMPETITION AMONG THE HOTELS BECAUSE NOW THEY ALL WANNA SIGN UP FOR THIS PROGRAM BECAUSE VISITORS HERE ARE NOW ASKING ABOUT ECOTOURISM ON HILTON HEAD.

AND AS A RESULT OF THAT, MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE COMING HERE.

AND THE CULMINATION OF THAT IS THIS PAST YEAR THE, UM, SOUTHEASTERN REGIONAL SEA TURTLE NETWORK, WHICH REPRESENTS SEA TURTLE PROGRAMS FROM VIRGINIA ALL THE WAY TO TEXAS, HAD THEIR ANNUAL MEETING HERE ON HILTON HEAD.

SO AS A RESULT OF THAT AND UH, THE NEW ORDINANCES THAT YOU FOLKS PASS ABOUT LIGHT PATROL, UM, WE HAVE BEEN VERY ENCOURAGED HOW YOU AND THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HAVE NOW WORKED VERY NICELY WITH SEA TURTLE PATROL, BUT WE'VE ONLY HAD ONE PROBLEM OVER ALL THESE YEARS.

AND THAT PROBLEM IS WE'VE NEVER HAD A HOME.

UH, MOST ORGANIZATIONS DO HAVE A PLACE WHERE THEY CAMP OUT AND WE ONLY HAVE A TENT OVER IN ISLANDERS, UM, BEACH WHERE THE, UH, THE VEHICLES ARE STORED AND EVERYTHING ELSE.

SO WHAT WE'RE ASKING YOU TO CONSIDER AND HOPEFULLY WITH YOUR COOPERATION THE PAST, YOU'LL CONSIDER USING THE NOW, UH, ABANDONED WILD WINGS BUILDING TO BE A POTENTIAL HOME FOR SEA TURTLE PATROL.

    THANK YOU.

    THANK YOU.

    CHRISTOPHER CLIFF, UH, CHRISTOPHER CLIFF.

UH, FIRST OF ALL, APOLOGIES FOR SIGNING UP SO LATE.

    I'M SORRY.

UH, LATS, UH, LOCAL AREA TRANSPORTATION STUDY.

UM, CURRENTLY, UH, ON THEIR WEBSITE IS THE DRAFT TWO YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN.

AND IT'S OPEN TO PUBLIC COMMENT BY THE 31ST OF MARCH.

AND IT'S GOING TO BE DISCUSSED

    [00:35:01]

AT THE MEETING ON APRIL 4TH.

UM, IT'S WELL WORTH A READ.

YOU HAVE TO CLOSE YOUR EYES TO OVERLOOK ALL THE, UH, TYPING ERRORS.

UH, STEP ROSSI HAD A BAD, BAD DAY.

UM, BUT VERY IMPORTANTLY, I THINK YOU SHOULD LOOK AT IT BECAUSE NOWHERE IN THERE IS ANY MENTION OF THE CONSIDERATION OF A SECOND ACCESS TO, UH, THE ISLAND.

AND IF YOU REMEMBER WHEN WE WERE DISCUSSING THE BRIDGE BACK IN 2024, ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION IT WAS MENTIONED LATS.

WERE GOING TO BRING FORWARD A STUDY TO INVESTIGATE AN ALTERNATIVE ACCESS.

    IT'S NOT MENTIONED THERE ANYWHERE.

THEY DO MENTION, UH, THAT ONE, UH, THEY'RE LOOKING FOR $500,000 TO FUND A REVIEW OF THE CORRIDOR FROM THE 95 TO THE ISLAND.

UH, IT'S UNFUNDED, UH, IS NOT QUITE CLEAR WHAT THEIR OBJECTIVE IS.

UM, BUT I THINK IT'S VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE PUBLIC SHOULD KNOW WE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO SUBMIT COMMENTS BY THE 31ST OF MARCH.

AND I THINK IT'S VERY, VERY IMPORTANT WHEN YOU THINK OF THE LAST EIGHT YEARS DISCUSSION ABOUT THE BRIDGE THAT WE ACTUALLY DO SAY TO THEM, HEY GUYS, THERE'S A, THERE'S A, THERE'S AN ISSUE HERE.

    OKAY, SORRY ABOUT THAT.

    THANK YOU AMBER KON.

I DON'T KNOW IF YOU RECOGNIZE ME, I'M NOT WEARING A BLUE SHIRT TODAY.

UM, I CAME OFF THE BOAT, UH, TOWN MANAGER COUNCIL MAYOR PERRY.

UH, I HAVE A LOT OF SUPPORT SO I JUST WANNA THANK YOU GUYS FOR COMING AND SUPPORTING MY REQUEST, WHICH YOU HAVE BEEN UH, AWARE OF FOR A WHILE.

SEA TURTLE PATROL NEEDS A HOME.

    WE KNOW IT'S COMING REGARDLESS.

UM, WE'VE IDENTIFIED WHERE WE WANT TO BE AND WE HAVE A FAMILY FOUNDATION WHO IS WAITING TO HEAR FROM ME WHETHER THEIR HALF A MILLION DOLLARS WILL BE UTILIZED TO PUT TOWARD THE REFURBISHMENT OF THAT BUILDING.

I KNOW THAT IT WAS SCHEDULED FOR A PARKING LOT.

I KNOW THAT ENCHILADAS IS ALSO SCHEDULED FOR A PARKING LOT.

I THINK THAT IF THERE ARE TWO OF THEM, THIS IS NOT GONNA GO OVER WELL FOR OUR BRAND AND OUR COMMUNITY.

    THE AREA IS ALREADY OVERCROWDED.

ADDING PARKING SPACES IS NOT GONNA BE A SOLUTION TO THAT OVERCROWDING ASPECT.

WITH MY ORGANIZATION, I HAVE FOUND THAT WITH THE ORDINANCES PRODUCED, WE HAVE BEEN MORE OF A BEACH, UM, ETIQUETTE PROPONENT.

WE'VE HAD SEVERAL ORDINANCES PASS TO IMPROVE THE BEACH, WHICH IN TURN IMPROVES THE SEA TURTLE NESTING HABITAT.

YESTERDAY WE HAD A BEACH OPERATIONS MEETING AND I, WE ALL BECAME AWARE THAT THE SHARING SHACK IS NO LONGER.

SO THAT FELL THROUGH THE CRACK.

THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WOULD BE GREAT.

LOCATED AT THE FORMER WILD WINGS BUILDING.

IN ADDITION TO SOME BEACH OPERATIONS AND SHORE BEACH SERVICES SATELLITE OFFICE AND A FACILITY FOR SEA TURTLE PATROL WITH THE PUBLIC WELCOME.

WE ALSO TALKED ABOUT THE BEACH AMBASSADOR PROGRAM THAT WE'RE HAVING TROUBLE STAFFING AND IT WAS MENTIONED THAT MAYBE SEA TURTLE PATROL VOLUNTEERS MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN DOING THAT BECAUSE WHY? BECAUSE WE ARE THE BEACH AMBASSADORS IN MANY CASES.

AND IF THERE WAS A BUILDING RIGHT THERE, HOW EASY WOULD IT BE FOR US TO BE THE BEACH AMBASSADORS? SO WE WANT TO SERVE THE TOWN IN SO MANY WAYS.

WE WANT TO CONSERVE THE SEA TURTLES, YOU GUYS COME ON.

UM, AND WE WANT TO PROMOTE ALL OF THIS ECO-FRIENDLY ETIQUETTE THAT WE SAY WE ARE WORLD CLASS AT.

BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE THAT WAY.

AND PAVING A PARKING LOT AGAIN IS NOT GOING TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN.

IT IS ALREADY A PARKING LOT, A LOT OF IT, AND I'M ONLY ASKING FOR HALF OF THOSE SPACES IN THE BUILDING.

AND IF IT'S A CONCRETE FLOOR WITH SPRAY PAINTED BLACK INSIDE TO MAKE IT COOL, THAT'S FINE.

I DON'T NEED IT TO BE THE TAJ MAHAL, I JUST NEED WALLS TO WELCOME THE PUBLIC.

THANK YOU FOR THE THREE MINUTES.

    THANK YOU.

I'M NOT SURE HOW TO PRONOUNCE THIS.

    GEORGE'S VAN HOPPER.

    OKAY.

THE BELT BEER THAT IT MAY MAKE IT EASIER.

UH, THANK YOU, UH, MAYOR, UH, COUNCILMAN MEMBERS, UH, I WANTED TO INTRODUCE ONE HILTON HEAD.COM TO YOU.

AND THE REASON WHY I DO

    [00:40:01]

SO IS I LIVED ON THE ISLAND FOR NINE YEARS AND I NEVER KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON.

SO SOMETHING ISN'T WORKING IN THE WAY WE INTERNALIZE MARKET, DISTRIBUTE THE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING ON THE ISLAND.

UH, THAT WEBSITE WAS CREATED FOUR MONTHS AGO AND IT'S NOW CAPTURING 200,000 PAGE VIEWS.

WHAT WE DO ON THE SITE IS COMBINE EVERYTHING THAT'S AVAILABLE ON THE ISLAND, WHETHER IT BE RESTAURANTS, EVENTS, ALL KINDS OF THINGS, EVERYTHING YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT HILTON HEAD ISLAND.

'CAUSE WHEN I TALKED TO MY FRIENDS IN SILICON VALLEY AND I CAME OUT OF SILICON VALLEY AS AN ENTREPRENEUR, NOBODY REALLY KNOWS THAT HILTON HEAD EVEN EXISTS, LET ALONE WHAT'S GOING ON.

SO I BUILT THAT SITE AND I WANT TO INVITE THE TOWN TO BECOME PART OF THAT BECAUSE IT'S IMPORTANT THAT THE INFORMATION IS NOT JUST HOSPITALITY BASED, BUT IS REALLY DRIVEN BY A FOUNDATION OF GOVERNMENTAL INFLUENCE, IF YOU WILL.

SO, UH, I'M JUST HERE TO ANNOUNCE THAT I HAVE A CARD FOR EACH OF YOU, UH, WITH MY OWN PICTURES OF HILTON HAD ISLAND, BY THE WAY.

    OKAY.

SO YOU CAN LEAVE THOSE WITH, WITH THE CLERK.

    THAT WOULD BE GREAT.

    YEAH.

    OKAY.

    YES.

    SUPER.

    ALRIGHT.

    THAT'S IT.

    THANK YOU.

    ALRIGHT, THANK YOU.

CHESTER WILLIAMS. I'LL PASS HEATHER RAF.

    OKAY.

    OKAY.

    THAT'S IT.

    YOU BET.

    THAT'S ALL.

    THAT'S IT.

    ALRIGHT.

    AWESOME.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR COMMENTS.

UM, NOW MR. ORLANDO, WE HAVE A NEED FOR EXECUTIVE SESSION.

    NO SIR.

    NO ACTION.

COMING OUT OF EXECUTIVE SESSION, WE ARE ADJOURNED SEEING THAT THERE IS NO OTHER BUSINESS AT HAND.

YOU ARE WATCHING BC TV LIVE, WORK, PLAY.

    HEY GUYS, I'M SAM WORLEY.

I'M THE OFF PARK RANGER HERE AT DREW ISLAND STATE PARK.

COME SPEND THE DAY WITH ME HERE WE ARE AT DROWN STATE PARKS MARINA.

I AM OVER MANAGING THE SLIPS HERE AT THE MARINA.

    UM, WE HAVE 50 SLIPS.

48 OF 'EM ARE 25 BY 15 FOOT SLIPS, AND THEN WE HAVE TWO 50 FOOTER SLIPS.

UM, I'VE BEEN OVER THE MARINA PROGRAM FOR A FEW YEARS NOW, AND, UH, WHEN I FIRST STARTED WE HAD EIGHT SLIPS FILLED OUT OF 50.

AND, UM, AFTER RUNNING IT FOR

    [00:45:01]

ABOUT 13 MONTHS, WE WERE ABLE TO REACH FULL OCCUPANCY.

UM, AND AS OF RIGHT NOW, I'VE HAD A WAIT LIST WITH ABOUT 15 EVER SINCE CENTS.

UM, WE GIVE SPECIAL OFFERS ON, UH, SLIP PRICES FOR THE 25 BY 15 FOOT SLIPS.

UM, IF YOU, YOU CAN DO A SIX MONTH OR A 12 MONTH IS THE ONLY TWO WE OFFER.

IF YOU DO THE 12 MONTH AND YOU CHOOSE TO PAY UP FRONT, YOU GET A 10% DISCOUNT.

    IT'S $2,700 RATHER PAYING.

UM, MONTH BY MONTH IS TWO 50 A MONTH, WHICH ADDS UP TO THREE GRAND.

AND THEN THE SIX MONTH LEASE IS $1,500.

UM, WHETHER YOU PAY IT ALL UP FRONT OR $250 PAYMENTS, I'M RESPONSIBLE FOR GENERATING INVOICES FOR OUR CURRENT LEASERS AS WELL AS SETTING UP NEW CONTRACTS, UM, AS WELL AS RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEANING OF THESE PEDESTALS, CHECKING THE UTILITIES, THE WATER, THE POWER.

WE HAD A COLD SNAP RECENTLY HAD TO MAKE SURE THAT, UH, I SET A DRIP SO THESE WOULDN'T BE WITHOUT, UM, RUNNING WATER FOR THE, UM, PEOPLE THAT COME OUT HERE OFTEN.

UM, AS WELL AS, UM, YOU KNOW, KEEPING UP WITH THE LEASERS THEMSELVES AND GETTING TO KNOW 'EM ON A FACE TO FACE BASIS AND KNOWING, UM, KNOWING WHO I HAVE HERE AT THE MARINA, WE HAVE A FEW REGULARS.

UM, AND THEY'RE A VITAL PART IN KEEPING THE, UH, MARINA UP TO DATE.

THEY LET ME KNOW IF SOMEONE'S BOATS COME LOOSE OR IF THERE'S BEEN DAMAGE TO A STORM.

UM, THE WATER'S DOWN RIGHT NOW, SO IT'S, UH, UM, IT IS A BIT OF AN ISSUE KEEPING TRACK OF, UM, THE SAFETY OF THESE BOATS.

UM, THE MARINA'S LIKE MY BABY, I'VE HAD A CHANCE TO, UM, WATCH IT GROW.

UM, A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY ABOUT THE MARINA.

UM, WE HAD AN OLD MARINA THAT USED TO BE RIGHT HERE.

UM, AND THEN IN 2008 WE HAD A REALLY BAD STORM THAT CAUSED ENOUGH DAMAGE THAT OVER THE YEARS AFTER THAT, UM, THE MARINA BEGAN TO SINK.

UM, LATER WE GOT THE BUDGET TO REDO THE MARINA, UM, WHICH IS WHAT YOU SEE HERE, AS WELL AS REDOING THE, UH, BATHHOUSE UP ON THE HILL, REMODELED ALL THE BATHROOMS, UM, SHOWERS, ALL THAT GOOD STUFF, ADDED HEAT AND AIR TO IT.

    UM, SO YEAH.

SO NEXT WE'RE GONNA GO TO ANOTHER FACILITY WHERE I'LL DEMONSTRATE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES I HAVE AS OUR SAFETY OFFICER HERE AT DRY ISLAND STATE PARK.

HERE WE ARE AT DRY ISLANDS GAS STOCK RIGHT NEXT TO OUR TACKLE SHOP.

UM, AND HERE I'M GONNA SHOW YOU ONE OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES AS SAFETY OFFICERS CHECKING ALL OF OUR FIRE EXTINGUISHERS.

UM, THIS IS THE BIGGEST ONE WE HAVE ON PARK.

    IT'S A 20 POUNDER.

UM, IT'S RATED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE GAS STOCK.

AND WHAT WE DO WHEN WE INSPECT A FIRE EXTINGUISHER, UM, IS FIRST YOU TAKE IT OFF ITS STAND AND YOU CHECK THE GAUGE, UM, SEE IF IT'S NOT UNDER OR OVERCHARGED.

BUT THE MAIN THING THAT YOU WANT TO CHECK, UM, AS SOMEONE WHO'S NOT A, UM, A CERTIFIED FIRE TECH IS, UM, IF YOU TURN IT UPSIDE DOWN, LIKE SO IF THE WEIGHT SHIFTS GRADUALLY, THAT MEANS YOU KNOW THAT THE CONTENTS ISN'T CLUMPED UP TOGETHER.

AND YOU CAN KEEP DOING THAT JUST TO SEE.

BUT IF YOU FEEL A BIG PLUMP, THAT MEANS IT'S CLUMPED UP TOGETHER.

    IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

UM, AND I DO THIS WITH ALL 42 FIRE EXTINGUISHERS.

WE HAVE ON PARK, WE HAVE 'EM IN THE CAMPGROUNDS, EVERY FACILITY, OUR CABINS, VILLAS, UM, OUR TACKLE SHOP AS WELL AS THE GAS DOCK.

AND THE MAIN THING IS TO CHECK THAT AND TO CHECK THE CHARGE.

AND THEN WHEN YOU'RE DONE, YOU CAN JUST HANG IT BACK UP AND THEN YOU CAN SIGN OFF ON THIS SPECIFIC MONTH, UM, WHICH THIS IS JANUARY.

UM, AND I'LL NOTE THAT ONCE A YEAR I HAVE, UM, A CERTIFIED FIRE TECH COME OUT AND HAVE THESE SERVICED.

I JUST HAD THIS ONE SERVICED, UM, IN DECEMBER, RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

SO THIS ONE'S PRETTY MUCH GOOD FOR A WHOLE NOTHER YEAR.

UM, ANOTHER ASPECT OF BEING THE SAFEST OFFICER HERE AT DREW ISLAND STATE PARK IS, UM, FACILITY INSPECTIONS, MAKING SURE EVERYTHING'S SAFE, MAKING SURE WE'RE STAYING UP TO DATE ON, UM, SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE ON OUR, UM, HVAC, ON ANYTHING THAT NEEDS IT.

LOOKING FOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE, LOOKING FOR ANYTHING THAT MIGHT NEED REPLACING OUR ATTENTION.

UM, AND OF COURSE FILING THE, UM, MONTHLY PAPERWORK FOR OUR FIRE EXTINGUISHER INSPECTIONS AS WELL AS THE FACILITIES.

UM, SO WE CAN STAY UP TO DATE AND BE OFFICIAL.

NEXT, WE'RE GONNA GO AND WE'RE GONNA TALK ABOUT THE LAKE.

HERE WE ARE ON OUR MAIN CAUSEWAY BRIDGE HERE AT DREW ISLAND STATE PARK.

UM, PERSONALLY THIS IS MY FAVORITE PART ABOUT COMING TO WORK, IS DRIVING ACROSS THIS CAUSEWAY BRIDGE AND LOOKING OUT AT THE LAKE EVERY DAY.

UM, AS I SAID EARLIER, THE LAKE'S DOWN PRETTY LOW RIGHT NOW.

UM, EVERY WINTER THEY DROP THE LAKE A FEW FEET, BUT THIS YEAR IS THE 10 YEAR LOW.

EVERY 10 YEARS THEY DROP THE LAKE SIGNIFICANTLY LOW, UM, TO KILL AN INVASIVE HYDRILLA PLANT AS WELL AS FOR PEOPLE TO WORK ON THEIR DOCKS.

AND SINCE THE DAM AND THE TOWERS ARE SO OLD, IT GIVES THEM A CHANCE TO MAINTENANCE THOSE AS WELL.

UM, LAKE MURRAY IS 50,000 ACRES, UM, OF MANMADE LAKE ANDRE ISLAND.

UM, BENEFITS FROM THIS LAKE HEAVILY.

UM, IT BRINGS SO MUCH, SO MANY GUESTS TO OUR PARK.

UM, THEY COME TO HANG OUT HERE AT THE SHELTERS.

UM, PITCH A HAMMOCK LAY OUT AT THE LITTLE BEACHY AREA WE HAVE AT OUR OLD OFFICE.

UM, IT BRINGS A LOT OF VISITORS COME SUMMERTIME.

    UM, ALSO IN THE

    [00:50:01]

SUMMERTIME, UM, BRINGS ALL OF OUR BIG GAME TOURNAMENTS.

DREW ISLAND'S KNOWN FOR ALL OF ITS FISHING TOURNAMENTS.

WE HAVE 'EM YEAR ROUND JUST ABOUT EVERY WEEKEND.

UM, TO HIGHLIGHT ONE BIG ONE, DREW ISLAND GOT THE OPPORTUNITY TO HOST THE WORLD BASS CHAMPIONSHIP WHERE WE HOSTED 25 COUNTRIES, UM, FOR A WEEK AND WATCHED THEM SHOOT OUT EVERY DAY AND COME IN AND SAW THE BIG WEIGH-INS.

AND THAT'S JUST ONE OF THE MANY BIG ONES THAT WE HAVE HERE.

UM, THAT'S A BIG JOB FOR OUR OPENING SHIFT HERE AT DREW ISLAND IS TO, UM, DIRECT ALL THE BOATERS FOR THOSE TOURNAMENTS AND, AND PARK 'EM AND MAKE SURE THAT WE CAN HOUSE ALL THOSE FISHERMEN FOR, UH, FOR THOSE TOURNAMENTS.

WE HAVE THE BIG BASS, UH, CHALLENGE AND WE HAVE A LITTLE BUNCH OF SMALL TOURNAMENTS RANGING ANYWHERE BETWEEN 15 BOATS ALL THE WAY UP TO 150.

IF YOU'LL NOTICE, OVER HERE IS OUR FRONT CAMPGROUND, WHICH IS NEWLY RENOVATED.

UM, IT RECEIVED, UM, UPGRADES FOR ELECTRICAL, UP TO 50 AMP SERVICE, UM, NEW WATER, AND EVEN ADDED, UH, SEWER HOOKUPS AS WELL.

SO, UM, WHEN THIS ONE OPENS UP, HOPEFULLY EARLY SPRING, UM, IT'LL BE OPEN FOR THE GUESTS TO ENJOY A BRAND NEW CAMPGROUND WITH, UM, BRAND NEW FACILITIES.

UM, NEXT WE'RE GONNA GO AND WALK THROUGH ONE OF OUR VILLAS AND MAKE SURE IT'S READY FOR A GUEST CHECK-IN HERE WE ARE AT DREW ISLANDS VILLAS.

UM, THIS IS VILLA ONE BEHIND ME, BUT WE HAVE FIVE VILLAS, UM, VILLAS ONE, THREE AND FIVE ARE THREE BEDROOMS AND BILL IS TWO AND FOUR ARE TWO BEDROOMS. UM, THESE ARE A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY FOR PEOPLE THAT, YOU KNOW, AREN'T INTO THE, THE CAMPING LIFE OR THE TENT LIFE, UM, GLAMPING AS PEOPLE CALL IT.

UM, THESE PRICES RANGE ANYWHERE BETWEEN 1 35 A NIGHT TO MAYBE EVEN, UH, AS FAR AS TWO 50 A NIGHT, DEPENDING ON TIME OF YEAR, TWO BEDROOM, THREE BEDROOM.

UM, IF IT'S A WEEKEND WEEKDAY OR IF IT'S THE ONLY ONE LEFT.

UM, VILLAS ONE AND TWO ARE THE NEWLY REMODELED INSIDE AND OUT, NEW FURNITURE, NEW PAINT FLOORS, ALL THAT GOOD STUFF.

UM, THERE IS A DOCK BEHIND VILLA ONE.

IT IS THE ONLY DOCK THAT WE HAVE, UM, HERE AT THE VILLAS, BUT IT IS A COMMUNAL DOCK.

AND THE REASON THAT IT'S IT'S ONLY BEHIND VILLA ONE IS BECAUSE VILLA ONE IS OUR HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE VILLA.

UM, BUT ANY VILLA CAN USE THAT DOCK AS THEY PLEASE.

UM, BUT WE'RE HERE TO DO A WALKTHROUGH OF THE VILLA, SO IF YOU WANNA FOLLOW ME, WE'LL GO AHEAD AND DO A WALKTHROUGH AND, UH, I'LL LET YOU KNOW EVERYTHING THAT GOES IN WITH THAT.

SO AS YOU'LL SEE, I USED A KEY CARD.

UM, THESE ARE NEW TO US.

WE WERE ABLE TO INSTALL, UM, KEY CARD LOCKS AT ALL OF OUR VILLAS AND OUR CAMPER CABINS, AS WELL AS THE BATH HOUSES FOR THOSE.

UM, MAKES IT EASIER IN CASE, UH, OUR METAL KEYS GET LOST.

UM, AND IT'S BEEN A REAL, UH, TREAT TO USE.

SO THIS IS THE INSIDE OF VILLA ONE.

UM, WHAT I'M IN HERE TO DO IS TO WALK THROUGH IT AND MAKE SURE THAT IT'S READY FOR A GUEST, UM, DOWN TO THE NITPICKY STUFF.

UM, MAKE SURE THAT THE, UM, IT WAS CLEANED PROPERLY AND THAT WE DON'T HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS OUT OF OUR GUESTS WHILE THEY STAY WITH US.

SO THEY HAVE THE BEST, UM, EXPERIENCE, UM, TOTAL.

SO WE ALWAYS, UH, CHECK THE FIREPLACE TO MAKE SURE THAT IT WORKS GREAT, WHICH IT DOES REMOTE'S PROGRAMMED AND EVERYTHING.

I'M TURN THAT BACK OFF BECAUSE IT IS A LITTLE WARM IN HERE.

UM, WE TRY TO CHECK EVERY LAMP TO MAKE SURE THAT IT LIGHTS UP.

UM, EVERY LIGHT IN THE VILLA WE WANNA MAKE SURE WORKS.

    THERE'S NO BURNED OUT BULBS.

UM, OF COURSE WE, WE CHECK THE TV, MAKE SURE THEY WORK.

UM, I'LL DO THAT AS WELL.

    WE'LL TURN THAT BACK OFF.

AND IN THE BATHROOM WE'RE GONNA CHECK AND MAKE SURE ALL THE LIGHTS WORK LIKE THE REST OF THE VILLA.

MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE TOWELS HAVE BEEN, UH, PUT IN PROPERLY AND AND STORED.

WE WANNA CHECK THE CLEANLINESS OF THE, UH, THE TUBS AND MAKE SURE THAT THERE'S NO DIRT HAIR OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

WE WANNA MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD.

    UM, FLOORS THAT LOOK DECENT.

UM, WE WANNA MAKE SURE THAT, UH, WE HAVE RUNNING WATER, FLUSH THE TOILETS, YOU KNOW, CHECK BEHIND, MAKE SURE EVERYTHING'S CLEAN.

THEN WE GO IN TO CHECK IN THE FIRST BEDROOM.

I LIKE TO DO IT IN A BIG CIRCLE SO I DON'T MISS ANYTHING WALKING THROUGH THESE VILLAS.

WE CHECK ALL THE DRAWERS TO MAKE SURE THAT A GUEST DIDN'T LEAVE ANYTHING BEHIND AND PREVIOUS STAY.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, WE WANT TO CHECK UNDER THE BEDS TO MAKE SURE THERE'S NOTHING UNDER THERE THAT, UM, WILL CAUSE AN ISSUE FOR A GUEST.

    EVERYTHING LOOKS CLEAN.

CHECK AROUND IN THE NIGHTSTAND AS WELL.

    CHECKING THE LAMP.

    [00:55:03]

WANNA RUN OUR HAND ACROSS THE TABLE? MAKE SURE THERE'S NO DIRT OR CRUMBS LEFT FROM ANY PREVIOUS DAY.

    WE'RE GOOD.

WANNA CHECK THESE LIGHTS RIGHT HERE? MAKE SURE ALL THAT'LL TURN ON WILL GO OUTSIDE REAL FAST AND WE'LL CHECK THE, UM, PORCH TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD.

MAKE SURE THE LIGHTS OUT HERE WORK FOR OUR GUESTS.

ALSO DO A VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE FIRE PIT AND MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING ON OUR OUTDOOR PATIOS WORK PROPERLY.

ONE, TWO, AND THREE ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT HAVE THIS, UH, OUTDOOR PATIO RIGHT NOW.

BUT, UH, IT IS A PLAN FOR THE FUTURE TO HAVE THE REST OF 'EM INSTALLED.

WE'LL GO BACK IN AND FINISH THE WALKTHROUGH.

SOMETIMES THERE'S SOME DISHES THAT ARE STILL LEFT IN HERE.

WE WANNA MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE, UM, CLEAN AND IF SO, PUT THEM AWAY, UM, AND WIPE DOWN ANYTHING THAT NEEDS IT.

UM, ON THE COUNTERS, WE WANT TO RUN OUR HAND ACROSS THE COUNTER, MAKE SURE THERE'S NO CRUMBS OR ANY RESIDUE STILL LEFT.

UM, AS WELL AS CHECKING THE MICROWAVE AS WELL.

YOU ALWAYS WANT TO CHECK THE DISH, MAKE SURE THAT THERE'S NO, UM, STUCK ON STAINS OR ANYTHING, ANY KIND OF SPATTER INSIDE THE MICROWAVE.

AND CHECKING EVERY CABINET TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THAT SHOULDN'T BE IN THERE AND THAT EVERYTHING'S WHERE IT SHOULD BE.

    RIGHT.

THE MIRROR AND EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD IN HERE.

WE'LL MOVE ON TO THE LAST BEDROOM.

ALL RIGHT, NOW THIS WAS THE LAST ROOM IN THE VILLA TO WALK THROUGH.

NOW THAT EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD, I'LL RADIO THE OFFICE UP FRONT AND LET THEM KNOW THAT THE GUESTS CAN CHECK IN.

THANKS FOR JOINING ME TODAY HERE AT DROWN STATE PARK.

I'M GONNA GO BACK TO THE OFFICE AND FINISH UP SOME ADMINISTRATIVE STUFF FOR OUR HEAD OUT FOR THE DAY.

UM, WHAT YOU SAW HERE TODAY WAS JUST A FEW OF THE MANY THINGS WE GET TO DO AND EXPERIENCE HERE AT DREW ISLAND.

SO I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO COME OUT, ENJOY THE STATE PARKS AND SEE IT FOR YOURSELF.
