AND SO I PASSED OUT TO YOU TODAY A DOCUMENT WHICH SAYS, YEARLY RECRUITING TOTALS.
AND THAT YEARLY RECRUITING TOTALS GIVES YOU A, AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH.
IF YOU LOOK AT S-C-D-O-T ROUTES, UM, HOT MIX ASPHALT, 57 MILES, CRACK SEAL AT 0.82, CHIP SEALED, 16.63, THE LIST GOES ACROSS AGAIN WITH THE, UH, COUNTY AND THE SAME HUT MIX, ASPHALT, MICROSURFACING AND REJUVENATOR.
WHEN YOU DO THE TOTAL, WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH 233 MILES OF BEAUFORT COUNTY ROADS IN THIS PERIOD OF TIME.
WHEN WE LOOK BACK, WE, BRIAN AND I WAS DOING A COUNT YESTERDAY, BEAUFORT COUNTY IN ITSELF ONLY OWNS JUST A LITTLE OVER 200 MILES OF ROADS.
SO WE'VE BEEN TOUCHED ALMOST ALL OUR ROADS.
UH, WE'RE MAKING GREAT PROGRESS, TOUCHING OUR ROADS.
UM, AND IF YOU LOOK AT THE STATE, WE'VE BEEN DOING A A REAL GOOD JOB OF TOUCHING STATE ROADS AS WELL.
SO THAT'S A, A COMPLIMENT TO THE COMMITTEE AND THE COMMITTEE'S WORK AND EFFORT.
SO, UM, I'M GONNA ASK YOU TO FLIP OVER AND GO TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE NOW FOR A LITTLE BIT.
UH, SAID, WHENEVER WE HELD A MEETING IN JANUARY, THAT TODAY'S MEETING WOULD BE FOR THE PURPOSE AND WE HAVE A QUORUM.

AND ON 2 78, UM, WE JUST DID A, UH, COMPLETED A BUNCH OF WORK AT ONE 70 AND 2 78.
AND WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO IS ONE MAINLINE 2 78 AND BRING IT UP FROM THE, UM, INTERSECTION OF THE BRIDGE

I MEAN, THEY'RE LOW VOLUME, LOW DENSITY, NO, NOBODY'S ON 'EM, HARLEY.
AND SO WE'RE DOING, THE LAST YEAR WE DID THE FIRST SCRUB SEAL, UM, WHEN MICHAEL BLACK WAS, UH, STILL WITH US.
AND MICHAEL WAS SHOCKED BECAUSE WE USED, UM, THE SCRUB SEAL WITH LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATE INSTEAD OF THE RED, UH, NUMBER TWOS OR LARGER ROCK.
AND IT CAME OUT VERY SUCCESSFUL.
IT, IT WORKS PERFECTLY ON ROUTE SKILL LOW A DT AND ROUGHLY, WE HAVE PLANNED ON CONTRIBUTING HALF MILLION ON EACH ONE OF THOSE TWO POCKETS EVERY YEAR.
UM, AS AGAIN, GO DOWN THE LIST THAT YOU HAVE IN FRONT OF YOU, I WENT AHEAD AND HEADED UP.

SO THAT'LL BE AT OUR NEXT COMMITTEE MEETING FOR APPROVALS GOING AFTER BID THIS, UH, WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK OR SO.
THE OTHER THING THAT WE HAVE COMING UP IS THAT WE ARE DOING OUR ROAD REVIEW AGAIN, AND WE'LL BE PUTTING THAT OUT TO BID.
OUR LAST TIME, UH, I THINK WE HAD EIGHT BIDS FOR, UH, COMPANIES WHO WANTED TO DO AN ANALYSIS OF OUR ROADS, BUT WE DID YEAR ONE, WE DID IT AGAIN IN YEAR FOUR, AND WE'RE DOING IT AGAIN AND NOW IN YEAR EIGHT.
AND IT'S REALLY REMARKABLE, UH, AS A LITTLE BIT OF THE HISTORY, WHEN WE STARTED OUR PROGRAM THE FIRST TIME AROUND, WE HAD ZERO ROADS IN THE GOOD OR VERY GOOD RATING, AND WE HAD SOMETHING LIKE, UH, 12 MILES IN A VERY POOR, WELL, FOR THE TIME WE GOT DONE WITH OUR FIRST FIVE YEAR GO AROUND, WE HAD 78 MILES OF ROADS IN A GOOD, VERY GOOD CONDITION AND ONE MILE LEFT.

AND THEY'RE VERY POOR.AND THAT ONE THAT WAS IN A VERY POOR HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF SINCE THEN.
SO WE'VE MADE A LOT OF GREAT PROGRESS THROUGH THE YEARS.
IF LOCAL MEDIA WOULD ONLY COVER THOSE THAT PROGRESS, IT, IT IS BEEN AN ASTONISHING PROGRESS WE'VE MADE THROUGH THE YEARS.
IT REALLY DESERVES, YOU KNOW, MORE, UH, SOME PUBLIC RECOGNITION SELL PAPERS.
I MEAN, OTHER PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT IT.

SO THE JOINT BOND MATERIAL IS MEANT TO SLOW DETERIORATION DOWN IN THE PAVING JOINT SO THAT IT IS CLOSER TO THE LIFECYCLE OF THE TRAVEL LANE.
ALRIGHT? AND IT IS BEEN VERY USED VERY EFFECTIVELY.
SO THAT, THAT, THAT HAS A JOINT BOND.

I HAD VERY, VERY LITTLE RURAL, UH, INFRASTRUCTURE.
MY AGENCY HAD DECIDED BEFORE MY TIME THAT THEY WERE GONNA BE INVOLVED WITH PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF THOSE TOOLS.
SO WE WERE A PARTNER WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF PAVER, UM, THAT WAS THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, OUR HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION, UM, AND IN AIRPORTS AROUND THE WORLD AS WELL AS SOME OF THE MUNICIPALITIES.
AND FROM WAY BACK IN THE MAINFRAME TIME WHEN ALL YOU COULD DO IS HOUSE IN OUR, IN OUR CASE, YOU COULD ONLY HOUSE ABOUT 5% OF THE NETWORK.
