[00:00:01]
CLOSED CAPTIONING PROVIDED BY BUFORT COUNTY.
[I. CALL TO ORDER]
TO ORDER OF THE MEETING.UH, FIRST, UH, ON OUR AGENDA WOULD BE THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.
SO IF EVERYBODY COULD STAND AND PLACE THE FLAG, UH, PLEDGE, PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO FLAG THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO DO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.
OKAY, SO FOR PUBLIC NOTIFICATION OF THIS MEETING HAS BEEN PUBLISHED, POSTED IN, DISTRIBUTED IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE SOUTH CAROLINA FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT.
[IV. APPROVAL OF AGENDA]
ORDER OF BUSINESS WILL BE THE APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA, UM, WHICH IS IN FRONT OF YOU.YOU CAN STATE BY SAYING AYE OR RAISING YOUR RIGHT HAND, OR IF YOU CHOOSE TO DO BOTH, WHICH A LOT OF PEOPLE DO, YOU CAN DO THAT AS WELL.
SO, COULD I HAVE A VOTE ON THAT? AYE AYE.
UH, AND THEN WE NEED THE APPROVAL
[V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – APRIL 25, 2024]
OF THE MINUTES FROM APRIL 25TH FROM OUR LAST MEETING SINCE, UH, WE DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING IMPORTANT IN MAY AND THAT MEETING WAS CANCELED.IS THERE ANY, UM, AMENDMENTS TO THE MEETING FROM THE MINUTES FROM APRIL? ALL GOOD? OKAY.
I'LL NEED A MOTION FOR THAT MOTION, JIM, ON THAT.
AND NOW WE'VE COME TO THE IMPORTANT PART FOR PUBLIC COMMENT.
WITH THE LIMIT OF THE COMMENTS TO BE TO THREE MINUTES.
DO WE HAVE ANY PUBLIC COMMENT FOR ANYONE? NO.
[VII. DIRECTOR’S REPORT]
THE DIRECTOR'S REPORT.WELCOME TO THE JULY BOARD MEETING.
WE'LL RUN THROUGH A FEW THINGS OF A SLIDESHOW AND WE'LL SEE WHETHER OR NOT OUR REMOTE WORKS IS FOR THE RECORD, IT'S JUNE.
I'M WISHING THE YEAR WAY TOO FAST, MAN.
OKAY, WE'RE ALREADY ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH.
I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS THIS THING.
ALRIGHT, WELL JUST LOOK AT THE PRETTY PICTURE.
IT'S LIKE ON, UH, YOUTUBE TV WHEN IT SAYS ENJOY THIS END, WE'LL BE BACK WITH YOU.
UH, FIRST OF ALL, NEW HIRE OVER AT BEFORD EXECUTIVE IS, UH, TREY ROGERS.
UH, TREY'S GONNA BE OUR, UM, LINE SUPERVISOR OUT THERE.
SO WE'LL HAVE THE, THE FOUR PART-TIME LINE STAFF AND TREY'S FULL-TIME.
SO HE'S BEEN DOING EVERY, BASICALLY EVERY JOB OUT THERE AT THIS POINT JUST TO GET FAMILIAR WITH WHAT EVERYBODY DOES AT THE AIRPORT.
UM, HE IS BEEN DOING A LOT OF, UH, A LOT OF THE YARD MAINTENANCE WORK AND THINGS LIKE THAT, THAT WE'VE NEEDED HIM TO DO.
BUT THE GOAL IS THAT HE'S GONNA BE THE GUY WHO'S KIND OF LEADING THAT TEAM, UM, OUT THERE IN THE, THE PUBLIC FACING AREA OF THE, THE TERMINAL.
SO THAT IS, THAT'S KIND OF TREY'S BACKGROUND.
UM, HE CAME TO US, HE, UM, WAS WORKING OVER AT THE AIR STATION AND, UH, FOR LOCKHEED AND CAME OVER TO, TO WORK WITH US AT THE AIRPORT.
SO, UM, LIKE I SAYS THERE, HE WANTS TO PURSUE HIS PRIVATE PILOT'S LICENSE.
SO WE'RE HOPING HE TAKES A NICE LONG TIME TO DO THAT.
SO HE DOESN'T, YOU KNOW, DECIDE TO GET THAT AND THEN LEAVE US.
SO ANYWAY, GREAT ADDITION OUT THERE.
AND THAT'S PART OF KIND OF THE, THE REVAMPING, THE CONTINUE REVAMPING OF BEFORD EXECUTIVE JUST TO UM, PROVIDE A BETTER LEVEL OF SERVICE FOR FOLKS OUT THERE.
UM, THE GUY IN THE MIDDLE IS, UH, JOE GLASO.
HE IS ONE OF OUR, OUR FIREFIGHTERS AT HILTON HEAD.
AND, UH, WE RECENTLY SENT HIM TO TWO BACK TO BACK SCHOOLS, BUT THIS WAS A GREAT SCHOOL FOR HIM TO GO TO BECAUSE JOE'S RELATIVELY NEW TO THE FIRE SERVICE.
UM, HE'S AN EMT AND HE KIND OF WORKED IN THAT WORLD FOR QUITE A WHILE, BUT HE TRANSITIONED OVER THE FIRE SERVICE AND JOINED US PROBABLY, I DON'T KNOW, TWO YEARS AGO STEVE, GIVE OR TAKE.
UM, AND SO WE'RE GETTING HIM TO SOME OF THESE SCHOOLS WHERE HE JUST GETS TO KIND OF MIX IT UP WITH OTHER FIREFIGHTERS AND, UM, AND DO PHYSICAL STUFF.
[00:05:01]
YOU CAN TELL JOE LIKES TO DO PHYSICAL STUFF.UM, SO, UH, HE'LL TAKE CARE OF YOU IF, IF YOU NEED HELP, BUT HE'S BEEN, UH, REAL ACTIVE, UH, DOING A LOT OF TRAINING WORK AND THEN, UH, LIKE I SAID, GETTING 'EM OUT TO THESE COURSES IS, IS GOOD.
SO WE'VE GOT A BIG FOCUS ON GETTING THESE GUYS ACT REAL ACTIVE IN TRAINING AND, AND CHIEF DAVIDSON'S DOING A GOOD JOB OF GETTING 'EM SET UP THAT WAY.
THIS MAY BE A LITTLE NERVOUS WHEN I SAW IT 'CAUSE THAT'S OUR FIRE CHIEF AND HE'S INSPECTING OUR SECURITY COORDINATOR'S CAR.
SO
I MIGHT HAVE TO HAVE A LITTLE TALK WITH CRAIG ABOUT THIS.
UM, BUT ALL SERIOUSNESS, UH, THIS IS PART OF OUR DUTIES AT THE AIRPORT THAT ANYTHING THAT DOES COME INTO, UH, YOU KNOW, ON THE RAMP AREA AND THAT FROM THE OUTSIDE COULD BE DELIVER VEHICLES AND THINGS LIKE THAT.
PART OF THE RESPONSIBILITY IS TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING DOES GET SEARCHED.
UM, WE STILL HAVE A, YOU KNOW, THE ANTI-TERRORISM FORCE PROTECTION MINDSET AT THE AIRPORT.
AND UH, AND THIS IS PART OF IT.
SO THEY GOT TO GO THROUGH SOME GOOD TRAINING THERE AND WE'RE CONSTANTLY DOING TABLETOP EXERCISES AND OTHER TYPES OF TRAINING, WHETHER IT'S, UM, WITH THE BOMB SQUAD, WITH, UH, YOU KNOW, THE IEDS AND THINGS LIKE THAT.
BUT IT'S IMPORTANT TO KEEP EVERYBODY IN A GOOD SECURITY MINDSET.
AND THAT INCLUDES TENANTS IN THE, IN THE BUILDING AS WELL.
'CAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHO'S GONNA BE FACED WITH THE SITUATION.
SO THAT WAS A GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO GET SOME MORE TRAINING THERE.
WE GOT A COUPLE OF FIREFIGHTERS WHO TOOK, UH, PART IN THE, THE GOLF TOURNAMENT A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO.
AND, UM, THIS IS FOR A TOTAL OF THE TOWERS AND, UM, GOOD FUNDRAISER.
WE'RE A SPONSOR OF THAT EVENT.
AND, UH, LOOKS LIKE WE'RE GONNA CONTINUE THAT.
EVERYBODY ENJOYED THAT AND IT WAS REALLY GOOD EXPOSURE FOR THE AIRPORT AS WELL.
UM, SO IT LOOKS LIKE WE'LL KEEP THAT GOING.
UM, YEAR OVER YEAR IS A GREAT CAUSE.
AND, UH, THEY ENDED UP, THEY, THEY GOLFED, THEY HAD A DINNER, THERE WAS AN AWARD CEREMONY AND EVERYTHING.
AND, AND PART OF OUR SPONSORSHIP WAS A WHOLE SPONSOR AS WELL.
UM, AND THE, THE GUYS WERE SO CONCENTRATED ON THEIR GOLF GAME, THEY FORGOT TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THE HOLE THAT WE SPONSORED.
SO I DIDN'T HAVE THAT TO SHOW
UM, THEY DIDN'T WIN, BUT I DON'T THINK THEY CAME IN LAST EITHER, SO, SO THAT'S GOOD.
WE'LL KEEP PRACTICING AND WE DON'T WANT OUR ARF GUYS TO BE TOO GOOD AT GOLF, YOU KNOW, 'CAUSE THAT MEANS WE'RE NOT TRAINING ENOUGH AT OUR STUFF.
SO, UM, THEY DID JUST WELL ENOUGH.
SO WE'LL KEEP 'EM GOING FOR NEXT YEAR.
ALRIGHT, BACK TO BEAUFORT EXECUTIVE.
IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN OUT THERE, I ENCOURAGE YOU TO SWING BY.
THERE'S BEEN SOME REALLY NICE IMPROVEMENTS THIS SPRING.
SO WE'VE GOT THE NEW LOGO ON THERE AND THERE'S NEVER BEEN A MONUMENT SIGN FOR THAT AIRPORT.
WE, FOR YEARS, WE HAD THE OLD, UH, STEEL HANGING SIGNS THAT AERONAUTICS HAD HAD PUT OUT AT EACH ONE OF THE GA AIRPORTS.
AND THAT, UH, WAS FLOODED A COUPLE OF TIMES WITH HURRICANES AND TROPICAL STORMS AND KIND OF RUSTED OUT.
SO WE, UH, DEVELOPED THIS ONE AND, AND, UH, WERE ABLE TO INSTALL THAT.
UH, WHAT ABOUT A MONTH AGO? BEGINNING OF MAY.
SO JUST OVER A MONTH AGO, BUT LOOKS REALLY SHARP OUT THERE.
AND IT, AND IT REALLY HELPS TO PRESENT THE AIRPORT.
AND, UH, WE WILL MOVE ON TO THE NEXT SLIDE AND SEE A COUPLE MORE IMPROVEMENTS OUT THERE.
THIS IS A PARKING LOT, SO WE HAD THAT ALL, UH, CRACK SEALED AND, UM, A PORTION OF IT WAS RESURFACED, UH, WHEN WE WERE WORKING WITH APAC.
AND THEY, THEY CLEANED UP THE AREA WHERE THERE WAS SOME TREES AND, UM, KIND OF SOME ROUGH SPOTS.
ALL THE ROOTS WERE, WERE, UH, FIXED UP AND WE STRAIGHTENED THAT OUT.
AND THEN WERE ABLE TO COME THROUGH WITH PUBLIC WORKS HELP AND DO A SEALANT, UM, PROTECTANT COATING ON THE ENTIRE, UH, PARKING LOT, AND THEN RETRIP THE PARKING LOT SO IT, IT'S EASIER TO SEE AND IT'S A ONE WAY PARKING LOT NOW.
AND, AND WE DO HAVE SEVERAL LARGER VEHICLES THAT ARE OUT THERE WHEN THE, YOU KNOW, THIS DIAGONAL PARKING GIVES YOU A LITTLE BIT MORE ROOM AND IT'S A LITTLE BIT SAFER, I THINK, TO NAVIGATE THAT.
UM, ALL THE SPOTS ARE NUMBERED.
SO IF YOU, UH, IF YOU DO PARK OUT THERE AND YOU'RE IN OUR LONG TERM, THEN YOU'RE, YOU'RE PAYING FOR YOUR SPOT.
BUT, UH, THIS GIVES US A BETTER, BETTER WAY TO KEEP TRACK OF SPOTS AND WHO'S IN OUR PARKING LOT.
UH, A LOT OF TIMES GA LOTS BECOME PARKING RIDES FOR FOLKS DURING THE WEEK.
SO NOW WE CHARGE YOU IF YOU WANNA USE THAT AS A PARKING RIDE.
WE DON'T CARE IF YOU PARKED THERE, YOU JUST HAVE TO PAY.
SO ANYWAY, THAT WAS A HUGE IMPROVEMENT OUT THERE.
AND, UH, THE NEXT ONE IS GONNA SHOW YOU A LITTLE BIT OF LANDSCAPING WORK THAT WAS DONE.
AND, UH, WE HAD SOME, UH, SOME LANDSCAPING IN THOSE, THOSE BEDS AS YOU WALK DOWN THE STEPS OUT TO THE, THE FLIGHT LINE OUT THERE.
AND, UM, THAT SOME OF THAT TOOK A HIT DURING THE WINTER WHEN IT GOT COLD.
AND ANYWAY, ERIC AND MARLENE TOOK IT UPON THEMSELVES TO, UH, PURCHASE A NEW PLANT MATERIAL, PULL OUT THE OLD PLANT MATERIAL AND, AND GET THE NEW STUFF INSTALLED.
[00:10:01]
PROBABLY ABOUT A MONTH OLD AND ALL THAT MATERIAL HAS REALLY MATURED AND IT LOOKS, IT LOOKED REALLY FANTASTIC OUT THERE.SO BIG THANKS TO, UH, TO ERIC AND THEN TO MARLENE.
I THINK A LOT OF SWEAT EQUITY WENT INTO, UH, INSTALLING THOSE, UM, IN THEIR FREE TIME.
AND UM, YOU KNOW, WE HAD TALKED SEVERAL, PROBABLY YEARS AGO ABOUT A, A FRIENDS OF THE AIRPORT CONCEPT, SO I'LL JUST THROW THAT TO YOU AND YOUR COMMITTEES CAN KIND OF THINK ABOUT THAT.
BUT SOMEBODY BROUGHT THAT UP TO ME AT, AT HILTON HAD THIS WEEK TOO THAT, YOU KNOW, MAYBE WE OUGHT TO CONSIDER OUR FRIENDS OF THE AIRPORT.
SO ANYWAY, I'LL GIVE THAT TO YOU GUYS FOR, FOR COMMITTEE CONSIDERATION.
SPEAKING ABOUT THE AMBASSADORS AND GOODWILL AT THE AIRPORTS WITH THAT PROGRAM HAS KICKED OFF FOR THE SUMMERTIME.
WE HAD A GREAT, UH, TRAINING LUNCHEON AND WE'VE GOT FIVE OF OUR BOARD MEMBERS WHO ARE AMBASSADORS.
SO WE APPRECIATE EACH ONE OF YOU STEPPING UP, UH, TO LEAD BY EXAMPLE AND BE PRESENT IN THE TERMINAL DURING THE WEEKENDS.
UM, IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
IT REALLY HELPS OUT THE TENANTS IN THE AIRPORT TOO.
I KNOW THE AIRLINES DO AS WELL.
IT JUST HELPS PEOPLE, UM, UNDERSTAND WHERE THEY NEED TO BE IN THE AIRPORT.
SOMETIMES WE GET FEEDBACK FROM THE AMBASSADORS AND THEY MAY PICK UP ON SOMETHING THAT WE DON'T NORMALLY SEE AS A, AS A STAFF MEMBER.
AND, UH, THEY COME UP WITH SOME GOOD IDEAS TO HELP US IMPROVE.
MAYBE SOME MARKING SIGNAGE IN THE AIRPORT THAT HELP PEOPLE GET AROUND.
EVERYBODY GOT THOSE BRIGHT, UM, PINK SHIRTS THIS YEAR, SO THEY'RE VERY VISIBLE, RICH.
UM, WENT TO UH, TOWN COUNCIL WITH ME A COUPLE WEEKS AGO WHEN I PRESENTED TO THEM AND HE WORE HIS BRIGHT PINK SHIRT.
SO I, THERE WAS NO WAY HE WAS GONNA SNEAK OUT OF THAT MEETING.
HE GOT UP IN A WHOLE GLOW, WENT ACROSS THE ROOM.
SO YOU WOULD, YOU ARE DEFINITELY NOTICED IN THAT.
AND EVERYBODY GOT A LITTLE GOODIE BAG AS WELL TO KIND OF HELP 'EM AND, AND SHOW OUR APPRECIATION.
SO WE DO THANK THE AMBASSADORS AND I LOOK FORWARD TO KEEPING THAT GOING.
ALRIGHT, SOME UPDATES ON THE TERMINAL PROJECT.
THAT'S JUST KINDA YOUR BIRD'S EYE VIEW OF WHAT THAT'LL LOOK LIKE WHEN IT'S ALL DONE.
UM, SINCE WE LAST MET, WE'VE DONE A LOT OF CONCRETE WORK AND THIS IS THE STUFF YOU CAN SEE.
WE HAD DONE A LOT OF THE, THE PIERS AND FOUNDATION WORK BEFORE.
NOW THE SLABS ARE BEING WORKED ON.
THIS IS THE ONE CLOSEST TO THE EXISTING BUILDING.
AND SO THIS IS KIND OF THE SECURITY CHECKPOINT AND SOME OF THOSE OTHER FUNCTIONS THAT'LL BE PRE-BOARDING GATE AREA.
AND YOU CAN SEE THIS IS IT'S NIGHTTIME WORK.
THE ONE ON THE LOWER, UH, RIGHT, IS KIND OF WHEN THEY'RE FINISHING UP THE SUN'S RISING THERE IN THE EAST, BUT THOSE PORES USUALLY START ABOUT TWO OR THREE IN THE MORNING.
AND THAT'S, SO THOSE CONCRETE TRUCKS CAN BE COMING ONTO THE ISLAND WITHOUT GETTING STOPPED IN, IN TRAFFIC.
'CAUSE THEY NEED TO BE, YOU KNOW, CONTINUOUSLY MOVING 'CAUSE THEY'RE PUMPING THAT CONCRETE.
SO THIS IS ALL THE BOARDING GATE AREAS.
YOU CAN SEE HOW, HOW BIG THAT IS.
ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THAT, YOU'LL SEE, UH, BEFORE CONCRETE, YOU CAN SEE ALL THE, UH, YOU KNOW, THE, THE DIRT THAT'S IN THERE.
AND THEN WITHIN THAT YOU'VE GOT ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING, EVERYTHING UNDERNEATH.
AND THOSE ARE ALL FLOOR POWER BOXES THAT ARE COMING UP.
SO IF YOU'VE BEEN IN THE EXISTING WHOLE ROOM, THERE'S ABOUT THREE PLUGS,
SO IT'S KIND OF HARD TO, UH, TO CHARGE THINGS.
THEN YOU CAN SEE THERE'S, THEY'RE ALL THROUGH THIS, THIS NEW BOARDING GATE AREA.
SO, UM, THE ONE BELOW IT SHOWS THE, UH, THE ROCK ON TOP AND IT'S PRETTY INTERESTING HOW THEY DO THE ROCK.
THEY'VE GOT A BIG CONVEYOR SYSTEM THAT THAT KIND OF, YOU KNOW, SHOOTS THAT ROCK OUT THE WAY THEY BLOW MULCH INTO PEOPLE'S LANDSCAPES THAT DO THAT WITH THE ROCK NOW.
SO IT'S SIMILAR TO THE WAY THAT CONCRETE, UM, PUMP IS BEING BOOMED OVER.
THEY DO THAT WITH THE ROCK BEFORE, AND THEN THEY LAY DOWN THE, THE VAPOR BARRIER AND THEN ALL THAT STEEL, YOU CAN SEE THAT IT'S A LOT, A LOT OF STEEL THAT GOES THROUGH THERE.
IT HAS TO BE OBSERVED AND THEN INSPECTED.
ALL THE CONNECTIONS GET INSPECTED AND ALL THAT HAS TO BE SIGNED OFF ON BEFORE THAT POUR HAPPENS.
AND THEN THAT POUR AGAIN WAS ABOUT A, YOU KNOW, TWO 3:00 AM POUR.
UM, THIS ONE I WANT TO SHOW YOU THE SIDE BY SIDE BECAUSE THAT'S LITERALLY THAT PART OF THE BOARDING GATE AREA THAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT ON THE LEFT.
SO THAT'S WHERE THE RAMP IS GONNA BE.
SO I THOUGHT IT WAS KIND OF NEAT WHEN I LOOKED AT THIS PHOTO FROM THE CONTRACTOR.
I SAID, MAN, I'VE GOT A, I HAVE A RENDERING THAT SHOWS THAT EXACT VIEWPOINT.
SO THAT'S WHAT IT'LL LOOK LIKE WHEN IT'S DONE.
UM, AND THAT RAMP HASN'T BEEN POURED YET, BUT YOU CAN SEE HOW IT'S BEEN PREPPED.
SO IT'LL BE PART OF THE, THE NEXT POUR.
BUT THAT UPPER SECTION NOW IS ALL POURED.
AND, UM, AND WE'RE MOVING ON TO THE, TO THE FOLLOW ON PHASE.
THIS SHOWS YOU A LITTLE BIT MORE OF THAT CONCRETE WORK, SOME OF THE PREP WORK IN THE UPPER LEFT.
AND THEN THE, UH, THE CONCRETE, UH, PUMP IN THE LOWER LEFT.
AND THEN AGAIN, THE SUN'S JUST COMING UP OVER THE FINISHED PRODUCT THERE ON, ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE.
AND THEN THE, THE ENTRANCE ROAD THROUGH THE TERMINAL FACILITY IS BEING WORKED ON AS WELL.
THERE'S BEEN A LOT OF, UH, A LOT OF CHANGES THERE.
BUT YOU CAN SEE THIS NEW CURB LINE.
SO AS YOU COME INTO THE TERMINAL, YOU, YOU'LL BE DRIVING TOWARDS THE TERMINAL, BUT THE, THE ROAD'S GONNA SWEEP OUT TO THE RIGHT BEFORE IT MAKES THAT LEFT IN FRONT OF THE TERMINAL.
THAT ALLOWS THAT FRONT OF THE BUILDING TO BE EXPANDED
[00:15:01]
THE WAY IT WILL.AND WE'LL HAVE THAT FULL LENGTH DROP OFF LANE COVER DROP OFF LANE IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING.
SO ALL THAT'S STARTING TO HAPPEN.
UM, SOME MINOR DISRUPTIONS IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING WITH, WITH HAVING TO CLOSE A LANE FROM TIME TO TIME TO DO SOME WORK.
UH, BUT THAT'S GONNA HELP US WITH THE PROJECT SCHEDULE.
UM, WHEN IT COMES AROUND TO IT AND IT'S ACTUALLY GONE PRETTY SMOOTHLY.
WE'VE, WE'VE PUT NOTICES IN ABOUT ANY OF THESE CHANGES ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND THROUGH THE WEBSITE WITH KIND OF A, A BANNER AT THE TOP.
AND THAT WAY PEOPLE ARE KEPT UP TO DATE IF THERE'S ANY CHANGES.
UM, BUT IT, IT IS REALLY GONE PRETTY SMOOTHLY AND, UH, AND FOLKS HAVE ADAPTED PRETTY WELL.
SO EVEN DURING THE, THE BUSY SUMMERTIME, SO FAR IT'S BEEN, IT'S BEEN PRETTY PAINLESS.
ALL RIGHT, THIS IS INSIDE THE TERMINAL.
I THINK A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO YOU MIGHT'VE SEEN THIS WALL, UH, BLANK.
AND THIS IS, IF YOU'RE WALKING INTO THE TERMINAL AND TAKE A RIGHT AS IF YOU'RE FACING THE NEW CONSTRUCTION, YOU WOULD, YOU WOULD HIT THIS WALL.
BUT THIS WAS INSTALLED ALONG THE GLASS WALL SO THAT WHEN WE GO TO TIE IN THE, THE NEW PLACE TO THE EXISTING BUILDING, UH, WE, WE HAD THIS, THIS COVERED.
AND IF YOU KIND OF LOOK IN THE BACK CORNER WHERE THE, THE DELTA DESKS ARE THERE, THE KIOSKS, YOU CAN SEE THAT WE TOOK A LITTLE BIT OF SQUARE FOOTAGE AWAY FROM THEM TO PUT THAT WALL IN.
AND AS A TRADE OFF, YOU KNOW, DELTA CAME AND SAID, HEY, COULD WE DO SOME BRANDING ON THAT WALL? AND WE SAID, WELL, I THINK, I THINK THAT'S ONLY FAIR SINCE YOU LOST A LITTLE BIT OF, OF DESK FRONTAGE THERE.
AND, UH, SO THEY WERE ABLE TO, UH, TO PUT THAT BRANDING UP FRONT, WHICH IS KIND OF NICE BECAUSE IT'S, IT'S A SHARED BRANDING.
IT, IT'S, YOU KNOW, OBVIOUSLY GOT THE CORPORATE BRANDING ON THE ONE SIDE, BUT IT'S GOT A NICE HILTON HEAD ISLAND SCENE ON THE, ON THE RIGHT.
SO HELPS EVERYBODY SO FAR, NOBODY'S WALKED INTO THE WALL.
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THAT TO HAPPEN.
SOMEBODY, SOMEBODY TO WALK DOWN THAT BOARDWALK TOWARDS THE BEACH AND HIT THE WALL.
ALRIGHT, PARKING KIOSK, NOT REALLY EXCITING, BUT AN IMPORTANT INFORMATION UPDATE THAT MOVED FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING TO THE INSIDE OF THE BUILDING.
'CAUSE WE HAD SOME RENOVATIONS GOING TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING.
UM, BUT HAVING THE KIOSK INSIDE KIND OF HELPS PEOPLE A LITTLE BIT.
NUMBER TWO, IT'S KIND OF A HEADS UP IF YOU FORGOT TO PAY FOR PARKING, YOU CAN DO IT HERE OR YOU CAN DO IT ON YOUR APP.
SO FOR OUR VAST VIEWING AUDIENCE OUT THERE, MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THAT PARK MOBILE APP.
IT'S A NICE BRIGHT GREEN APP, YOU CAN'T MISS IT.
AND IT'S NOT ONLY GOOD FOR THE, UH, HILTON HEAD ISLAND AIRPORT, IF YOU HAVE THAT HANDY APP, IT WORKS RIGHT HERE IN THE CITY OF BUFORT.
SO
ALRIGHT, FINALLY JUST WRAPPING UP WITH SOME INFORMATION, IMPORTANT DATES, UH, FOR ALL OF YOU TO KEEP IN MIND.
AND THESE REPRESENT A MULTITUDE OF THINGS THAT SHOWS THE EFFORT THAT'S GOING ON WITH, UH, WITH AIRPORT STAFF, TRYING TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE ALWAYS OUT AND, UH, IN THE COMMUNITY AND BRINGING PEOPLE TO THE AIRPORTS.
IT ALSO REPRESENTS, UH, VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOU ALL TO BE ADVOCATES AND TO, UH, TO WEAR YOUR FANCY SHIRTS OUT IN TOWN AND COME SEE SOME FOLKS.
AND IF YOU'RE SO INCLINED, IT ALSO, UH, WILL AFFORD YOU OPPORTUNITIES TO SPONSOR EVENTS AT THE AIRPORT.
SO WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO THINK ABOUT THAT SERIOUSLY AS WELL.
UM, THE FIRST ONE WE'LL COME UP ON IS THE WATER FESTIVAL.
SO IF YOU, FROM HERE, YOU KNOW, THE WATER FESTIVAL IS, WE ARE A REAR ADMIRAL SPONSOR THIS YEAR, SO PRETTY HIGH LEVEL SPONSOR.
AND THANKS TO MARLENE AND ERIC AND STEVE TO PULL ALL THAT TOGETHER.
UH, WE'LL HAVE SOME REALLY GOOD MARKETING OPPORTUNITIES.
SO WE'RE OUT ON ALL THE SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS AT THE WATER FESTIVAL USES.
SO YOU'LL SEE A LOT ABOUT THE, UH, THE AIRPORT THERE.
UM, ARE WE HITTING BOTH AIRPORTS? I FORGET IF THEY'RE BOTH OR IT'S JUST, UH, JUST BE FOR EXECUTIVE.
YEAH, KINDA THE WAY IT WAS LAST YEAR, BUT A NICE LITTLE PIECE.
WE HAD A COMMERCIAL MADE, SO THERE'S A NICE LITTLE, UH, UH, CLIP THAT'LL BE SHOWN THERE.
WE'LL ALSO HAVE AN EXPO BOOTH IN, UH, SO I GUESS IT, IT IS LISTED AS A, THE 13TH.
SO, UM, WHENEVER THAT SPONSOR EXPO TAKES PLACE, WE'RE ABLE TO, YOU KNOW, DISPLAY INFORMATION ABOUT THE AIRPORT.
WE'VE GOT SOME NICE GIVEAWAYS, UM, YOU KNOW, PENS, KEY CHAIN FLOATS.
THE FLOATS FOR IF YOU'RE ON A BOAT OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT AROUND HERE, COMES IN HANDY.
SO IF YOU NEED ONE OF THOSE, MAKE SURE YOU STOP BY.
AND FOR THE KIDS, WE'VE GOT SOME BALS WOOD AIRPLANES WITH THE AIRPORT LOGO ON THERE AS WELL.
SO IF YOU SEE THOSE THINGS FLYING AROUND, THEN THAT WAS OUR FAULT.
AND THEN WITH THE WATER FESTIVAL PARADE, WE'RE HOPING TO GET ONE OF THE FIRETRUCK IN THERE.
SO WE WILL MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS, IS WHERE WE NEEDED TO BE OPERATIONALLY, OBVIOUSLY FIRST.
UM, BUT WE DO HAVE AN ENTRANCE IN THAT PARADE AS WELL.
AND THEN COMING UP IN SEPTEMBER, THEN WE'RE WORKING WITH THE, UH, BEAUFORT REGIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AGAIN.
AND WE WILL DO A BUSINESS AFTER HOURS.
WE DID ONE ABOUT A YEAR, JUST OVER A YEAR AGO, UH, WHEN WE KIND OF DID THE GRAND OPENING FOR THE TERMINAL AFTER THE RENOVATIONS.
SO WE'RE GONNA DO ANOTHER ONE OUT THERE.
SO ON THE 12TH OF SEPTEMBER, SO MARK THAT 12TH OF SEPTEMBER, I THINK IT'S USUALLY FIVE O'CLOCK.
SO WE ARE OPEN FOR SPONSORSHIPS.
[00:20:01]
I SAID.AND USCB IS GONNA CATER IT AGAIN AND THEY DID IT THE FIRST TIME AS WELL.
AND IF YOU WERE THERE FOR THAT GRAND OPENING, THEY DID A REALLY, REALLY GOOD JOB.
THEIR CULINARY SCHOOL IS, IS REALLY GOOD.
UM, SO WE'RE EXCITED FOR THAT AND UH, THEY'RE ALWAYS FUN TO HAVE OUT THERE AS WELL.
AND OF COURSE THE CHAMBER FOLKS ARE GREAT TOO.
UM, THE 12TH, I THINK IT'S A THURSDAY.
THURSDAY IT'S A THURSDAY, OKAY.
THEY'RE TYPICALLY ON THURSDAY.
SO THURSDAY, FIVE O'CLOCK, SEPTEMBER 12TH.
IT'S A DAY AFTER JUDY'S BIRTHDAY, SO YOU CAN WISH HER A HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
UM, BUSINESS AFTER HOURS AND THEN ONE MONTH LATER, WE GOT A LOT OF STUFF GOING ON HERE.
ONE MONTH LATER ON THE 12TH OF OCTOBER IS A 5K OUT AT BEFOR EXECUTIVE.
OKAY? SO LIKE I SAID BEFORE, IT'S OKAY IF YOU'RE NOT A RUNNER, YOU DON'T HAVE TO RUN IT, BUT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN COMING OUT TO HELP, WE'D LOVE TO HAVE YOU.
MARLENE AND ERIC ARE STILL WORKING ON THAT.
UM, SO WE'RE LOOKING TO KIND OF GROW THAT EVENT AND MAKE IT, UH, MAKE IT FUN FOR FOLKS TO BE THERE.
UM, IF YOU KNOW, LIKE I SAID, ANY WAY YOU WANT TO HELP OUT, WE WILL, UH, JUST COORDINATE WITH ERIC AND MARLENE AND WE'LL GET YOU INVOLVED SOMEHOW AND, AND WE CERTAINLY APPRECIATE THAT AGAIN, SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITY THERE.
SO, AND THIS ONE TOO, YOU GET YOUR NAME ON A SHIRT, SO, UH, I KNOW CHRIS HAS BEEN ON THERE.
SO LET'S GET, SHE GETS YOU ALL ON THERE.
SO WE DO TAKE PERSONAL DONATIONS, THAT'S FINE.
WE'LL THROW YOUR NAME ON THERE.
UM, SO WE LOVE TO FILL THAT SHIRT UP WITH, UH, WITH SPONSORS AND THEN MAKE SURE THAT EVERYBODY, UH, GETS THEIR MEDAL FOR RUNNING.
UM, IT IS A, IT'S A COOL RACE.
IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN OUT THERE, YOU YOU SHOULD CHECK IT OUT.
IT'S A GOOD TIME TO, TO RUN ON AN AIRPORT.
AND THEN A MONTH LATER WE GOT ALL KINDS OF STUFF.
I TOLD YOU IN NOVEMBER, WE, WE HOST THE SOUTH CAROLINA BREAKFAST CLUB.
WE'VE DONE THAT A COUPLE TIMES BEFORE AND WE JUST BY KIND OF LUCK OR UN LUCK OF THE DRAW WE HAD FEBRUARY, THAT WAS A SPOT THAT CAME OPEN.
WE WERE ABLE TO TRADE THAT OUT FOR NOVEMBER, WHICH I THINK IS GONNA BE A LITTLE BIT BETTER WEATHER WISE, HOPEFULLY THAN THAN FEBRUARY.
WE JUST DID NOT LUCK OUT WITH WEATHER IN FEBRUARY.
SO IT'LL BE NOVEMBER THE 17TH OKAY.
IS WHEN WE'LL BE DOING THE BREAKFAST CLUB.
SO THAT SHOULD BE A GOOD TIME.
LAST, WE HAD GREAT ATTENDANCE AT THE LAST ONE, SO WE LOOK FORWARD TO DOING THIS ONE AS WELL.
UM, SO IF ANYBODY'S INTERESTED THERE, WE'LL BE, UH, PROBABLY, I DON'T KNOW IF WE'RE COOKING BREAKFAST, WE HAVEN'T MADE ALL FINAL DECISIONS YET, BUT, UM, ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO VOLUNTEER AND, AND SPONSOR.
SO, AND I'M NOT JUST LOOKING AT YOU, IF YOU KNOW BUSINESSES WHO WOULD LIKE TO GET INVOLVED AND, AND HAVE SOME EXPOSURE AT THE AIRPORT, YOU KNOW, BRING 'EM IN.
UH, WE'D LIKE TO HAVE A LOT OF FRIENDS AT THE AIRPORT.
FOLKS CAN COME AND, YOU KNOW, HANG OUT AND, UH, IN THE TERMINAL DURING THE DAY, SIT ON THE PORCH AND, AND WATCH FOLKS FLY AND STUFF.
BUT GET MORE PEOPLE EXPOSED TO THE AIRPORT, THAT'S THE NAME OF THE GAME IS JUST LET 'EM KNOW IT'S, THIS IS NOT JUST A PRIVATE THING.
WE WANT FOLKS TO COME OUT AND, AND SEE THE AIRPORT AND ENJOY IT.
UM, MARLENE AND ERIC AND STEVE ARE STAYING REALLY BUSY GETTING ALL THIS STUFF ORGANIZED AND UM, A LOT OF FUN OPPORTUNITIES COMING UP.
A COUPLE MORE THINGS TO BREEZE THROUGH HERE.
WE DID HAVE A GREAT MEETING LAST WEEK, TWO MEETINGS WITH, UH, THE FAA AIRPORTS DISTRICT OFFICE TEAM.
WE HAD OUR ENGINEER COME DOWN WHO'S KIND OF OUR PROJECT MANAGER AND WE HAD THE PLANNER AS WELL.
SO BOTH YOUNG GUYS FROM THE FAA DID A GREAT, UM, SITE TOUR AT BOTH AIRPORTS WITH THOSE GUYS.
AND THEN TALKED THROUGH KIND OF OUR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS LIST WITH THEM.
AND THEY HAD A LOT OF GREAT SUGGESTIONS ON HOW MAYBE WE SPLIT SOME THINGS UP PHASE SOME PROJECTS, JUST DIFFERENT WAYS TO SEQUENCE THINGS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FUNDING, UM, AND PRIORITY RANKINGS AND, AND CAME UP WITH SOME GREAT IDEAS.
SO A VERY, VERY, UH, BENEFICIAL VISIT FOR THEM TO COME DOWN AND, AND SEE WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON AND ALSO GET THEIR, THEIR INPUT FROM THE A DO SIDE ON HOW THINGS CAN BE IMPROVED.
AND THEN WE SEE THE FA ALSO AT OUR PART 1 3 9 INSPECTION COMING UP THAT'S AT THE END OF JULY.
BUT JUST WANNA LET YOU KNOW OUR TEAMS, YOU KNOW, BUT WE WORK ON IT ALL YEAR LONG BECAUSE IT'S KIND OF A READINESS CHECK, BUT ALL OF OUR, UM, TRAINING RECORDS GET CHECKED, THE AIRFIELD, THE HILTON HEAD GETS CHECKED.
UM, EVERYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH, UH, WITH AVIATION SAFETY WILL BE LOOKED AT DURING THAT INSPECTION.
SO ON THAT, HOW ARE WE DOING ON THE OTHER INSPECTION THAT WE HAD WITH ARF THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM ON THE TRAINING? WE HAD DONE THE TRAINING, BUT SOMEHOW IS THAT, HAVE YOU, HAVE WE HEARD ANYTHING BACK ON THAT? IT'S, IT'S STILL BEING WORKED ON.
SO THAT, THAT'S STILL IN PROGRESS.
WE'VE GOT A MEETING SCHEDULED IN JULY AND I FORGET THE EXACT DATE OF THAT MEETING, BUT WE HAVE A FOLLOW ON MEETING WITH THE FA IN JULY ON THAT.
SO HOPEFULLY WE'LL HAVE, AND THAT'LL BE THE FIRST TIME WE'VE HEARD SINCE WE SENT ALL THE RECORDS TO 'EM SINCE WE SENT, WELL WE MET WITH THEM IN, IN MARCH AND THEY REQUESTED SOME MORE INFORMATION, WHICH WE SENT AND THEN WE JUST LITERALLY HEARD BACK LAST WEEK.
UM, SO FROM MARCH TO LAST WEEK, UM, AND THEN THEY REQUESTED A FOLLOW ON MEETING, SO THAT'S WHAT WE'RE, OKAY, WE'RE WORKING ON NOW.
SO, UH, BUT WE'LL LET YOU KNOW.
[00:25:01]
WE'VE ACTUALLY, UH, LOCKED THAT DATE YET.WE SENT OUR AVAILABILITY TO THE FAA, BUT I'M NOT SURE IF THEY'VE BEEN ABLE TO GET THEIR CREW TOGETHER YET.
SO, UH, WE'LL SEE WHERE THAT GOES.
UM, AND THEN JUST CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS, JUST A HEADS UP FOR THE NEXT FEW MEETINGS, WE'LL PROBABLY HAVE A SERIES OF OF DOCUMENTS FOR YOU TO APPROVE.
AND, UH, THESE WILL BE AGREEMENTS THAT ARE, THEY'RE ALREADY IN PLACE AT THE AIRPORT, BUT YOU KNOW, YOU MAY HAVE A, A FIVE YEAR AGREEMENT AND IT'S A USUALLY A ONE YEAR AGREEMENT AND THEN IT'S GOT FOUR EXTENSIONS ON IT.
WE'VE GOT SEVERAL OF THOSE THAT ARE GETTING TO THE END OF THOSE EXTENSIONS.
SO IT'LL BE THE SAME THING YOU'VE SEEN, YOU KNOW, FOUR OR FIVE YEARS AGO.
BUT IT, IT HAS TO GO BACK THROUGH THE APPROVAL PROCESS AND IT STARTS WITH YOU.
SO YOU'LL SEE SOME OF THOSE COMING THROUGH PROBABLY IN THE NEXT TWO TO THREE MONTHS.
UM, A FEW EACH MONTH THAT, THAT YOU'LL SEE AND HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW AND, AND VOTE ON.
SO DON'T MISS MEETINGS 'CAUSE WE'LL NEED YOUR VOTE.
AND THAT'S THE END OF MY REPORT.
ALRIGHT, ANYBODY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? NO.
AND THERE'S NO REASON TO PROBABLY GO ANYWHERE.
YOU MIGHT AS WELL STAY IN YOUR SPOT.
UM, SINCE WE'RE GONNA BE DOING THESE ACTION ITEMS, UM, THAT WE HAVE, WELL LET'S, FIRST LET ME GO BACK TO UNFINISHED BUSINESS, WHICH WE DON'T HAVE ANY UNFINISHED BUSINESS THAT I'M AWARE OF.
[IX.1. GRANT ACCEPTANCE - RECOMMENDATION TO ACCEPT FAA BIL GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,993,835 FOR HXD TAXIWAY “F” PAVEMENT REHABILITATION - VOTE]
BUSINESS.UM, WHICH FIRST ONE WOULD BE ON THAT WOULD BE THE GRANT ACCEPTANCE, UM, WHICH WE ALSO HAD THAT IN THE REPORTS THAT WERE SENT OVER, UH, ON THE EMAIL, UM, TO GO THROUGH.
BUT THIS IS FOR, UH, AT HILTON HAD, I BELIEVE EVERYTHING IS HILTON HEAD, IS IT NOT THAT WE'RE GONNA BE GOING THROUGH? I THINK SO, YES.
SO, UH, WHY DON'T YOU EXPLAIN KIND OF THE FIRST ONE ACTION ITEM NUMBER ONE.
RIGHT, SO THE FIRST, WHAT WE'RE DOING WITH, WITH ALL THE GRANT ACCEPTANCES, JUST SO YOU KNOW, THESE ARE IN ADVANCE OF US GETTING THE OFFICIAL GRANT OFFER, BUT DURING THE SUMMER COUNTY COUNCIL TAKES THE MONTH OF JULY OFF FROM MEETINGS SO THAT THEY CAN DO VACATIONS AND TRAVEL LIKE THEY, LIKE REGULAR FOLKS NEED TO.
UM, BUT IN ANTICIPATION OF THAT, WE WANTED TO, TO GET THESE ITEMS LINED UP AND APPROVED SO THAT WHEN WE GET THE GRANT OFFERS, WE'RE NOT WAITING FOR, FOR APPROVALS.
AND THE WAY WE'RE ABLE TO DO THAT, WE TALKED WITH COUNTY LEGAL ABOUT THIS AND THE SPONSOR ASSURANCES ARE, ARE THE SAME FOR EACH GRANT.
SO WE'RE NOT AT RISK OF A NEW, YOU KNOW, A NEW CONDITION BEING PUT ON COUNTY COUNCIL AND EVERYTHING WHEN, WHEN THEY GO TO COUNTY COUNCIL WILL BE APPROVED SUBJECT TO THE RECEIPT OF THE OFFICIAL OFFER.
SO, UM, THERE'S ALWAYS AN AN OUT FOR THEM SHOULD WE NEED TO, BUT WE'RE ACCEPTING FUNDS, SO I DON'T ANTICIPATE THAT HAPPENING.
SO WITH THAT AS BACKGROUND, THE FIRST ITEM ON THERE IS ABOUT THE, UH, THE FAA GRANT FOR, UM, WE'LL CALL IT $3 MILLION ROUGHLY.
AND THAT'S FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE TAXIWAY FOXTROT REHABILITATION PROJECT THAT HILTON HAD.
THAT'S GONNA BE READY TO KICK OFF CONSTRUCTION IN JULY.
UM, MIGHT DON'T HAVE THE EXACT DATE YET, BUT PROBABLY MID TO LATE JULY.
UM, AND THE FA IS, THEY'VE ALREADY WRITTEN ALL THE GRANT INFORMATION AND IT'S UP TO DC AND THEN, SO IT'S, IT'S DONE DC JUST NEEDS TO DO THEIR THING AND THEN OFFICE OF SECRETARY OF TRANSPORTATION SENDS IT BACK TO ATLANTA TO DO THE OFFICIAL PAPERWORK.
SO THE GRANT'S THERE AND, UH, WE WILL BE ABLE TO EXECUTE THAT CONSTRUCTION.
SO THIS FIRST ONE IS JUST LIKE I SAID, THAT PREEMPTIVE GRANT ACCEPTANCE.
NEXT WEEK I'LL GO FOR ALL OF THESE.
NEXT WEEK I'LL GO TO PUBLIC FACILITIES AND SAFETY COMMITTEE AND ASK MEMBERS OF COUNCIL TO DO THE SAME THING.
I'M ASKING YOU TODAY, JOHN, WHAT EXACTLY ARE THEY DOING AT FOXTROT? THEY RIPPING IT ALL OUT.
UH, UM, SOME OF THE AREAS WILL HAVE SOME MILLING INVOLVED.
MOSTLY THE TIE IN POINTS FOR THE STU TAXIWAYS.
UM, BUT IT'S, IT IS BASICALLY GONNA BE AN OVERLAY.
THEY'RE GONNA SMOOTH EVERYTHING AND MAKE SURE IT'S ALL UNIFORM AND OVERLAY.
SO IT'S, IT'S NOT A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT.
IT'S GOING TO, IT'S GONNA OVERLAY THAT.
AND HOW WILL THAT IMPACT OF, UH, AIRCRAFT TRAFFIC ON FOX TRIAL? IT SHOULDN'T.
THE, IT'S A REAL SHORT SCHEDULE, BUT IT'S ALSO GONNA BE PHASED.
SO THAT ONE END OF THE TAX AWAY IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE FOR TAXING AIRCRAFT.
ANOTHER NIGHTTIME PROJECT? YES.
AND IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN, WE HAVE TO DO ALL THESE INDIVIDUALLY, WE CAN'T DO 'EM ALL AT ONE TIME, CORRECT.
YEAH, WE HAVE TO DO 'EM ONE AT A TIME.
UH, SO WE'RE GONNA NEED, WELL FIRST IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION? OKAY, SO THAT'S GOOD NEWS.
EVERYBODY THOROUGHLY READ THEIR BRIEFING THAT THEY GOT BY EMAIL.
THAT'S FALSE, RIGHT? UM, SO, UH, FIRST I NEED A MOTION FIRST AND A SECOND.
[00:30:01]
UM, AND THEN TELL US ABOUT NUMBER[IX.2. GRANT ACCEPTANCE - RECOMMENDATION TO ACCEPT FAA GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $137,209 FOR HXD AIRFIELD DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS - VOTE]
TWO AND THE GRANT, UH, RECOMMENDATION FOR THE, UM, AIRFIELD DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS.THIS ONE IS A DESIGN AND BIDDING, UH, PROJECT.
AND THIS IS FOR THE AIRFIELD DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS.
AND THE, THESE ARE STRUCTURES THAT, UM, THEY ARE IN PLACE NOW, BUT DUE TO THE CHANGE IN THE AIRPORT FROM A C TWO TO A C3 AIRPORT DESIGN GROUP, THOSE STRUCTURES ARE NOW WITHIN THE RUNWAY SAFETY AREA.
SO THEY NEED TO BE UPGRADED, UH, SO THAT THEY CAN SUPPORT THE CRITICAL AIRCRAFT.
SO THIS PROJECT IS A DESIGN AND BIDDING OF THAT PROJECT OR, OR THAT EFFORT.
AND THEN ONCE THAT'S DONE, THERE'LL BE A FOLLOW ON PROJECT, WHICH WOULD BE THE CONSTRUCTION OF THAT.
SO THIS IS JUST THE DESIGN PORTION OF IT.
UH, ANYBODY HAVE ANY DISCUSSION ON THAT? ANYBODY UNDERSTAND THAT? ALL RIGHT.
AND DO, SINCE THERE'S NO DISCUSSION, COULD I HAVE A MOTION? MOTION TO APPROVE? APPROVE? SECOND.
OKAY, JIM, YOU ARE FAST TODAY, MY FRIEND.
HEARING NONE, THAT MOTION CARRIES.
[IX.3. GRANT ACCEPTANCE – RECOMMENDATION TO ACCEPT FAA BIL ATP GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000,000 FOR HXD TERMINAL IMPROVEMENTS - VOTE]
FOR THE A TP GRANT? YEP.SO IF YOU REMEMBER, THIS IS THE, UM, THE COMPETITIVE GRANT THAT'S COME AROUND AS, AS A RESULT OF THE, UH, THE BIPARTISAN INFRASTRUCTURE LAW THAT WAS PASSED BACK IN NOVEMBER OF 2021.
UH, IT'S A COMPETITIVE GRANT THAT WE APPLIED FOR, AND IT'S TO BE USED FOR, UH, FOR TERMINAL PROGRAMS. SO WE'RE AWARDED $5 MILLION FOR THAT.
AND WE WILL PUT THAT TOWARDS THE, WE WILL BE ABLE TO KIND OF EXTEND THE, THE FIRST PHASE OF THE TERMINAL CONSTRUCTION.
UM, AND THAT ONE KIND OF THE SAME THING, THE FA WILL SEND ALL THAT PAPERWORK TO HEADQUARTERS AND WE ANTICIPATE THAT BEING BACK IN OUR HANDS IN JULY AUGUST TIMEFRAME.
UH, BUT WE'D LIKE TO GO AHEAD AND GET THAT APPROVED ANYWAY, SO THAT WHEN WE'RE IN THE POSITION TO, TO SPEND THOSE MONIES, WE COULD DO THAT.
UH, BUT SOME OF THE THINGS THAT 5 MILLION WILL PAY FOR WOULD BE TO GET US ALL THE JET BRIDGES IN THE FIRST PHASE, WHICH IS GREAT.
CERTAINLY HELPS US WITH THE AIRLINES AND THE CUSTOMERS.
IT'LL GET US THE SECOND LANE OF SECURITY SCREENING CHECKPOINT.
UH, AND IT'LL ALSO DO, AMONG OTHER THINGS, WE'LL DO A FULL RENOVATION OF THE, UM, NON-SECURE SIDE RESTROOMS, AND THERE'LL BE A BUMP OUT OF THE, THE EXISTING TERMINAL AREA.
SO THERE'S MORE CIRCULATION ROOM, BUT, AND THEN, UH, SOME OF THE APRON LIGHTING, IT'LL BE ABLE, OR IT'LL ALLOW US TO PUT ALL THE NEW, UM, APRON LIGHTING OUT AS WELL IN THIS PHASE.
ANYBODY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR ANY DISCUSSION ABOUT THAT? I, I JUST, BASICALLY ALL THREE OF THESE, JOHN, IS FAA PROVIDES 90% OF THE FUNDING.
UM, THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION, RICH, ON THE, ON ONE AND TWO, THOSE ARE 90% PROJECTS, AND ON THREE IT'S A 95% PROJECT, AND THE REMAINING 10% ARE WE SELF-FUNDING, UH, SOUTH CAROLINA AERONAUTICAL PROVIDING SOME OF IT OR BOTH OF THOSE? THERE, THERE'S, UM, DEPENDING ON HOW TIMING WORKS OUT, WE FUND PART OF THAT, BUT FOR THE MOST PART, I THINK WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO, UM, EARMARK SOME OF THE, UM, SOUTH CAROLINA AERONAUTICS ANNUAL FUNDING FOR THAT PORTION OF IT.
IT IT DOESN'T REALLY, UH, IT'S NOT GONNA HAVE A, A BIG NEGATIVE EFFECT ON OUR, UM, BOTTOM LINE.
TYPICALLY IT'S FIVE AND FIVE, RIGHT? FIVE FROM SOUTH CAROLINA, AON NAUTICAL AND THEN, WELL, IT WAS UNTIL 2022 AND SOUTH CAROLINA AERONAUTICS CHANGED IT, THEIR FORMULA FOR THE COMMERCIAL AIRPORTS, UM, BECAUSE WE, IT WAS ONLY HILTON HEAD OF FLORENCE WHO RECEIVED THE INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDING.
UM, BUT NOW SEAC FUNDS ALL, ALL THE COMMERCIAL AIRPORTS AND THERE'S JUST A FLAT, UM, THEY CALL THE ENTITLEMENT.
SO ANNUAL FUNDING AT 250,000 FOR EACH ONE OF THE COMMERCIAL SERVICE AIRPORTS.
SO WE CAN USE THAT 250,000 TO COVER OUR PORTION.
SO IN, IN THE, YOU KNOW, CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE THAT TWO 50 MAKES UP THE FULL 10%, YOU KNOW, OF THE 90 10 SPLIT YEAH.
THAN WE'RE GOLDEN AND, AND THERE'S REALLY NO INPUT FROM THE AIRPORT, SO THAT, THAT HAPPENS MORE TIMES THAN NOT.
BUT WHEN WE HAVE A REAL BUSY YEAR, THERE'S THEN SOME AIRPORT FUNDS THAT GO INTO THAT AS WELL.
SO YOU'RE, YOU'RE NOT GONNA HAVE TO DEFEND YOURSELF WITH COUNTY COUNCIL ON ADDITIONAL FUNDING FROM THEM? UM, NO.
AND, AND, AND WE DON'T TAKE COUNTY COUNCIL FUNDING ANYWAY.
UM, IT WOULD BE AIRPORT REVENUES THAT ARE USED FOR THAT.
SO, UM, SO IT, IT'S, CAN YOU SELF-FUND WE SELF-FUND AND WE STILL PRESENT EVERY ONE OF OUR PROJECTS TO COUNTY COUNCIL ANYWAY BECAUSE THEY'RE, THEY'RE GOING TO INVOLVE EITHER THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE FEDERAL FUNDS, WHICH TIES THEM TO THE GRANT ASSURANCES OR IT ENTAILS, OR, AND IT ENTAILS A, A, UH, MAJOR ENOUGH CONTRACT THAT THEY HAVE TO PROVE ANYWAY.
SO COUNTY COUNCIL ALWAYS HAS OVERSIGHT OF WHAT WE'RE DOING AND WE ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT WE PRESENT THAT DETAIL TO THEM SO THEY UNDERSTAND WHERE THE FUNDS COME FROM.
[00:35:01]
ON MY LITTLE, MY ATROPHIED BRAIN.WE DON'T ALWAYS REMEMBER EVERYTHING.
UM, ANY OTHER DISCUSSION? COMMENTS? ALRIGHT, UH, CAN I GET A MOTION RICHES IMMEDIATELY? HEY, GOT A NEW GUY OVER THERE.
UM, SO WITH THAT THEN LET'S HAVE A VOTE.
UM, AND THEN THE FOURTH, UH, THE
[IX.4. COMMERCIAL OPERATING AGREEMENT – RECOMMENDATION TO APPROVE A NON-TENANT COMMERCIAL OPERATING AGREEMENT BETWEEN BEAUFORT COUNTY AND CONSTANT AVIATION - VOTE]
COMMERCIAL OPERATING AGREEMENT, UM, AND I DID LOOK THAT UP WHEN YOU AND I TALKED ON THE PHONE ABOUT IT, AND IT'S $150 EVERY TIME THEY COME IN, SO WE'RE NOT TALKING A LARGE DOLLAR AMOUNT, BUT MORE RIGHT.FILE, MAKING SURE THEY HAVE THEIR INSURANCE AND STUFF IN PLACE.
SO THIS IS KIND OF WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT BEFORE.
THIS IS ONE OF THOSE AGREEMENTS THAT'S GONNA COME BEFORE YOU, THIS IS A NON TENANT OPERATION.
THIS, SO THEY COME IN FROM ELSEWHERE TO DO ON-CALL, UM, A OG SERVICE.
AND, UH, WHAT THEY, IT'S A FIXED FEE.
SO ANYONE WHO DOES THAT IS A NON TENANT PAYS $150 FEE EACH TIME THEY COME ON THE AIRPORT TO DO THAT SERVICE.
UM, AND THAT'S, UM, A VERY EASY WAY TO DO IT.
IT'S, IT'S PAINLESS FOR THE COMPANIES AS WELL.
THEY, THEY SEEM TO ENJOY THAT FIXED FEE AND IT'S EASY FOR US AT THE AIRPORT FINANCIALLY.
SO THAT'S, THAT'S WHAT THIS, THIS JUST REPRESENTS.
AND THEY, THEY'VE ALREADY BEEN IN THE SYSTEM, SO THIS IS THEM KIND OF REFRESHING THAT IT'S A RENEWAL.
AND I DIDN'T, I FORGET TO LOOK, IS IT FIVE YEAR AGREEMENT WITH ONE YEAR EXTENSIONS ON IT? IT'S A ONE YEAR AGREEMENT AND THEN THERE ARE FOUR EXTENSIONS, FOUR EXTENSIONS EACH YEAR.
UH, ANY DISCUSSION ON THAT? YEAH, THE ONLY THING THAT STRUCK ME ABOUT THAT IS A CLEVELAND, OHIO BASED COMPANY.
I MEAN, WE DON'T HAVE A LOCAL COMPANY THAT'S DOING THE SAME SERVICE.
UM, I DON'T THINK THEY'RE COMING FROM CLEVELAND EACH TIME.
THEY, BECAUSE THEY'RE HANDLING THE COMMERCIAL TRAFFIC QUASI LOCAL.
I THINK THEY GOT BRANCHES OUT.
AND THEN I THINK WHAT THEY DO IS THEY HANDLE, YOU KNOW, THEY, THEY MAYBE BASE THAT'S WHERE THE HEADQUARTERS IS, BUT THEN THEY HAVE DIFFERENT GOTCHA.
THAT JUST SURPRISED ME THAT IT WAS AN OIL BASED COMPANY FOR RIGHT BEFORE SOMETHING GO IN.
WELL, WHEN HE, I TALKED TO HIM ON THE PHONE, UH, EXPLAINED A LITTLE MORE SO I UNDERSTOOD IT, BUT IT WAS, UM, UH, ONCE HE EXPLAINED IT WAS THE COMMERCIAL SIDE, YOU KNOW, THIS IS ALL FOR COMMERCIAL.
I WAS LIKE, OKAY, FOR THIS, FOR THE AIRLINES, THEN THEY PROBABLY HAVE CONTRACTS WITH THEM TO SAY, HEY, WE DON'T HAVE REPAIR FACILITIES HERE.
AND YOU KNOW, AND HILTON HAD, BUT WE NEED TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO GET SOMEBODY THERE.
AND THAT HAPPENS ON THE PRIVATE SIDE AS WELL, BECAUSE YOU'LL HAVE CERTAIN COMPANIES WHO ONLY DEAL WITH CERTAIN COMPANIES AND THAT A OG COMPANY WILL COME IN AND SERVICE JUST THE DELTA PRIVATE JETS OR JUST NET JETS OR WHOEVER THEY, SO THEY HAVE EXISTING CONTRACTS AND THEN THEY COME TO US AND THEY'LL HAVE A SIMILAR AGREEMENT TO THIS.
UH, COULD I GET A MOTION? THESE GUYS? I MEAN, I'M A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED.
MY BOYS TO THE LEFT OVER, THEY'RE NOT REALLY.
OKAY, SO WE GOT THE FIR, WE'LL GIVE THEM THE FIRST AND SECOND.
IT'S GONNA BE WHO WOULD'VE EXPECTED IT.
YOU KNOW, VEGAS MONEY WAS ALL ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE TABLE TO GET, GET THESE MOTIONS IN.
UM, ALRIGHT, SO WITH THAT, UH, LET'S HAVE A VOTE.
UM, ALL, UH, AYE AYE, AYE, AYE.
UM, SO LET'S, UH, ANY OTHER QUESTIONS FOR JOHN BEFORE HE SITS DOWN? YEAH, I HAVE A QUESTION FOR JOHN.
NOW WE GET CLOSER TO PHASE TWO.
WELL, I UNDERSTAND WE'RE IN THE BEGINNING PHASE OF PHASE.
WELL, WE GET CLOSER TO PHASE TWO.
HOW ARE WE DOING ON FUNDING FOR PHASE TWO? STILL WORKING ON IT? IT'S A LONG ROAD.
BUT, BUT I, I WOULD ADD CAVEATS ON THE FAA APPROVED OR THE CONGRESS APPROVED THE BILL THAT'S GONNA PROVIDE YOU THAT FUNDING, CORRECT? NO, NO.
I'M THE, THE OVERALL FA THE REAUTHORIZATION BILL.
BUT THAT WON'T BE FOR THE TERMINAL IF WE'VE, WE'VE MAXED OUT WHAT WE CAN GET FROM THE A FOR THE TERMINAL AT 20 MILLION.
I THOUGHT THE NEXT CHUNK WAS IN THAT.
NO, THE, THE MAX THAT YOU CAN DO FOR A TERMINAL ACROSS THE BOARD IS THAT THE FA WILL DO FOR ANY TERMINAL IS $20 MILLION, REGARDLESS IF IT'S THE NEW ONE OR THE OLD ONE, IT'S MERGED TOGETHER.
AND IT DOESN'T, WHAT ABOUT SIZE OF AIRPORT? DOES IT MATTER ON SIZE? DOESN'T MATTER.
MM, REALLY? SO WHAT WAS THE LITTLE TOWN THAT YEARS AGO YOU SHOWED US THEIR NEW TERM BRUNSWICK? I THINK IT WAS.
AND THAT THING LOOKED LIKE A HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS DID A, A FUND THAT, OR IF THEY DID IT WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE THAN 20 MILLION.
AND WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL SOURCES AS YOU LOOK DOWN THE ROAD? WELL, WE'VE GOT THE ACKERMAN TRUST FUND.
WE'RE LOOKING AT
HOWARD SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES.
COULD I INTEREST YOU IN A GATE OR A J JET BRIDGE? WE CAN TALK AFTERWARDS.
WE'RE STILL WORKING WITH THE STATE ON A LOT OF THESE.
UH, I THINK THERE ARE HOPEFULLY SOME OPPORTUNITIES THERE.
OUR DELEGATIONS BEHIND THE, UH, THE PROJECT FULL FORCE, UH, THEY
[00:40:01]
WERE A MAJOR, UH, FUNDING SOURCE FOR THE FIRST PHASE.SO WE'RE HOPING THAT THEY'LL BE ABLE TO DO SOME, UH, SOME MORE SUPPORT FOR THE SECOND PHASE.
WE'RE CONTINUING TO WORK ON ALL THOSE DIFFERENT ANGLES.
UM, AND JUST, YOU KNOW, KIND OF KEEP TUNED TO WHAT'S GOING ON AT, AT COUNTY COUNCIL LEVEL AS WELL FOR, UH, YOU KNOW, POTENTIAL ITEMS COMING UP ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT.
UM, THERE'S POTENTIAL FOR, UH, FOR THINGS TO MAYBE BENEFIT THE AIRPORT THERE TOO.
SO JUST PAY ATTENTION TO POTENTIAL, UH, UM, ITEMS TO BE ON THE BALLOT IN NOVEMBER.
SO MULTIPLE SOURCE, IS THERE A FACT THAT 1 CENT, UH, IS IT 1 CENT OR 1%? YEAH, THE 500 MILLION.
IS THERE MONEY THAT WOULD BE DIRECTED FOR THE AIRPORT OR IS THERE A GENERAL FUND? IT LOOKS LIKE MOSTLY HIGHWAYS ROAD TRANSPORTATION, BUT NOT SPECIFICALLY AIRPORT.
BUT AIRPORT IS INCLUDED IN A CATEGORY AS PART OF TRANSPORTATION.
SO THERE COULD BE SOME BENEFIT THERE.
I I, I KNOW WHERE HOWARD'S GONE.
THAT THING DOES NOT GIVE ANY HINT THAT THE AIRPORT AND, AND MANY OF US ON THE ISLAND ARE NOT REAL HAPPY ABOUT THE 2 78 CORRIDOR.
I'M JUST NOT SAYING I'M NOT, BUT WE NEED TO KIND OF HIGHLIGHT THE AIRPORT GETS BENEFIT FROM IT TOO.
'CAUSE I THINK THAT MIGHT SWAY SOME VOTES.
ANYTHING ELSE? I THINK THAT'S IT ALL I HAVE.
WELL, PUBLIC MARINE COULD PAY FOR IT.
YEAH, THAT WOULD BE FANTASTIC.
I, I CAN PROMISE YOU ONE THING ABOUT THAT BOAT.
IT WILL IMMEDIATELY ATTRACT EVERY CHILD UNDER THE AGE OF 15.
AND IT WILL TURN INTO ROMPER ROOM.
IT'LL BE THE BUTLER MARINE ROMPER ROOM.
THAT'S WHY YOU MIGHT AS WELL JUST CALL IT THAT VIABILITY.
YEAH, EVERY TIME MORE EXPENSIVE THAN BOAT.
IF HAVE BOAT FLOATING IN THE TERMINAL TOO.
[X. CHAIRMAN UPDATE]
UM, ON THE CHAIRMAN UPDATE, UH, WE'RE GONNA START WITH AN UPDATE OF NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU PLAN TO BE, TO DO SOMETHING FOR THE FIRST TIME, LIKE BEING THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD ON A BOARD YOU'VE SAT ON FOR MANY YEARS AND THINK THAT YOU WERE LISTENING TO EVERYTHING THAT GOES ON AND ALL THE NUANCES.I HAVE NOW REALIZED WHEN WE'RE GONNA GET TO THE COMMITTEE REPORTS, HOWARD DID A FANTASTIC JOB OF GIVING ME THE COMMITTEES WHO THE CHAIRMANS ARE AND PUT DOWN OR THE COMMITTEE HEADS AND HANDING THAT ALL TO ME.
AND I DID A FANTASTIC JOB OF FILING IT AND IT'S RIGHT SITTING ON THE DASH OF MY TRUCK, WHICH IS SITTING OUT IN THE PARKING LOT.
SO WE'RE GOING TO, UH, KIND OF GO THROUGH THE COMMITTEE REPORTS, UH, A LITTLE BLIND.
I AM, UH, JUST MAKING SURE ON WHO THE COMMITTEE CHAIRS ARE.
ONE CHAIR THAT HAS CHANGED OR HEAD OF THE COMMITTEE FOR THE A RW IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE.
UM, JIM STARNS IS GONNA BE, UM, HEAD OF THAT NOW SINCE I'M KIND OF CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD.
I THOUGHT MAYBE THAT MAY BE A CONFLICT OF INTEREST THOUGH.
I I GOT NO LETTER STATING THAT, BUT I WANTED TO JUST KEEP IT ON THE UP AND UP.
SO, UM, GOING FORWARD, JIM WILL BE HEADING THAT UP.
UM, AND SINCE HE HASN'T DONE THAT AND WE HAVEN'T HAD A REPORT ON IT, WE DO, WE'RE WORKING TOWARDS, UM, UH, HAVING A MEETING, UM, NEXT WEEK OR BEFORE THE NEXT BOARD MEETING ABOUT, UM, THE HANGAR.
WE HAVE A MEETING WITH, UM, LEGAL TOMORROW TO KIND OF TALK THROUGH SOME THINGS WITH THE NEW HANGERS, POTENTIAL FOR THE NEW HANGERS.
UM, I WAS HOPING TO GET THAT MEETING IN BEFORE THE BOARD MEETING, BUT THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN.
BUT WE'LL, WE'LL BE ABLE TO, JIM WILL BE ABLE TO REPORT IN ON THAT, UM, AT NEXT MEETING FOR THE A RW IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE.
[XI. COMMITTEE REPORTS]
I THINK, IS IT, DO WE HAVE THE AMBASSADOR COMMITTEE? THAT'S LESLIE.EVERYBODY KNOWS WHO'S IN CHARGE.
UM, SO LESLIE, YOU GOT ANYTHING NEW? SHE WAS ON? IS SHE STILL ON? YEAH, I'M ON.
UM, DO YOU NOT SEE ME? UH, YEAH, VERY NOW I DO.
UM, IT'S A, IT'S THE PA IT'S CALLED THE PASSENGER SERVICES COMMITTEE JUST FOR YOUR INFORMATION, SO YOU'LL KNOW THAT.
UM, AND THE AMBASSADOR PROGRAM IS DEFINITELY UNDERWAY.
I HAD A GREAT TURNOUT OF SIGNUPS ON MY SIGNUP SHEET AND WERE COVERED ALL THROUGH JUNE.
UM, EACH DAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.
UM, SUNDAY IS NOT NEARLY AS BUSY AS SATURDAY.
UM, SATURDAY IT'S A LOT MORE BUSY.
THERE'S SEVEN FLIGHTS WITHIN THAT TWO HOUR PERIOD, AND THAT'S THE, THE TIME BETWEEN 11 AND ONE THAT IT GETS REALLY CRAZY WITH PEOPLE IN LINES.
UM, BUT, UH, IT HAS COME UP TO SAY, WELL, MAYBE WE ONLY NEED ONE AMBASSADOR THERE.
I'M LOOKING AT THAT FOR SUNDAY, BUT I JUST WANNA SAY THIS, WHEN THE AMBASSADORS ARE THERE, I HAD SOMEBODY ASK ME IF THEY COULD BRING A LAWN CHAIR AND I SAID, ABSOLUTELY NOT.
UM, YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE SITTING ON THE STOOL AT THE PODIUM.
YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE MOVING WITH THE CROWDS.
[00:45:01]
THE REASON THERE ARE TWO, THERE IS THE ONE IS ON THE SIDE WELCOMING PASSENGERS WHEN WE HAVE FOUR FLIGHTS ARRIVING DURING THE TIME YOU'RE THERE AND THEY COME, THEY'RE WELCOMING THEM AS THEY COME OUT THE DOOR.AND WHEN YOU DO THAT, YOU'RE RIGHT AWAY GONNA GET INQUIRIES ON TRANSPORTATION SERVICES, RESTAURANTS, AND HOTELS.
IT JUST, AS SOON AS THEY SEE YOU AND THEY KNOW SOMEONE'S THERE, FIRST OF ALL, THEY'LL GET A BIG SMILE WHEN YOU WELCOME THEM AND THEN THEY'RE GONNA ASK YOU INFORMATION.
THEN THE OTHER AMBASSADORS ALL THE WAY ON THE OTHER SIDE DEALING WITH THE TSA PRE-CHECK LINE, WHICH HAS CREATED A, A, A BOTTLENECK RIGHT THERE BY WHERE BAGS ARE HANDED IN AND KEEPING PEOPLE STRAIGHT INTO WHICH LINE THEY NEED TO BE IN.
SO THAT'S THE REASON WE HAVE TWO AMBASSADORS.
UM, I DON'T THINK ONE AMBASSADOR COULD DO BOTH THOSE JOBS IN THE, THE TIME WE'RE THERE.
UM, BUT IT'S WORKING REALLY WELL AND EVERYONE'S VERY EXCITED ABOUT IT AND THE SHIRTS ARE A BIG HIT, SO THANK YOU ROSA, FOR GETTING THOSE FOR US.
LESLIE, DO YOU STILL HAVE OPENINGS IN, IN JULY? I RECALL SEEING ON THE SCHEDULE YOU HAD A WEEKEND OR TWO THAT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR SOME ADDITIONAL.
YES, I DO HAVE OPENINGS AND THE SCHEDULE IS IN OUR NOTEBOOK, AMBASSADOR NOTEBOOK, AND I'M OVER THERE FREQUENTLY AND I CHECK IT.
I WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU DECIDE TO SIGN UP IN THE NOTEBOOK YOU SENT, SHOOT ME AN EMAIL.
CAN YOU TELL US WHAT DATES ARE OPENED IN JULY? YES.
MM-HMM,
LIKE I SAID, IT'S IN THE NOTEBOOK, BUT I'M HAPPY TO CIRCULATE IT.
WELL, I'M NOT THE AIRPORT TO LOOK UP THE NOTEBOOK.
IF YOU LOOK FOR THE OPENING, WHAT KIND OF AMBASSADOR ARE YOU? RICH? YOU GOTTA DEAL TO GO OUT THERE AND TAKE THE EXTRA STEPS.
WHEN I WAS THERE,
YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO IT NOW, LESLIE.
YEAH, WELL I CAN'T DO IT NOW, BUT I WILL GET IT OUT DURING THE WEEK.
AND THEN WE HAVE THE MARKETING COMMITTEE.
WHO'S THE CHAIR FOR THE MARKETING COMMITTEE? THAT WAS JIM.
UM, ANN ON, I'VE GOT A LIST HERE.
LET SEE, I THINK I'M SUPPOSED TO BE
ANN, DO YOU HAVE ANY REPORT? I DON'T WANNA PUT YOU ON THE SPOT, BUT UNFORTUNATELY I ALREADY DID.
AND I'M GOING TO BE IN COLORADO FOR THE NEXT THREE MONTHS, BUT OBVIOUSLY I CAN WORK REMOTELY, BUT NO, I HAVE NO REPORT.
NO REPORT AT THIS TIME, BUT YOU'LL BE SENDING PEOPLE, IF I CAN MAKE A COMMENT HERE, ANN, A SUGGESTION.
UM, UM, JOHN BROUGHT THIS UP EARLIER, BUT YOU KNOW, WE'VE TALKED ABOUT IN THE PAST SELLING BRICKS IS A FUNDRAISING IDEA FOR THE AIRPORT TO AN APPROPRIATE PLACE WHERE BRICKS MIGHT GO.
AND THAT'S, THAT'S BASICALLY A SPONSORSHIP.
I KNOW THE LEADERSHIP CLASS AND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE DOES THIS ALL THE TIME.
I DON'T KNOW IF THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING THAT WOULD COME OUT OF MARKETING, BUT IT WOULD BE SOMETHING THAT, THAT I WOULD THINK WE COULD MAYBE AT SOME POINT WHEN IT'S APPROPRIATE WITH A CONSTRUCTION PUT OUT THERE, UH, TO SEE IF THERE'S ANY INTEREST.
WHAT WAS THE FIRST PART OF YOUR SENTENCE? I LOST IT.
BRICKS, UH, LIKE ON THE FRONT ENTRANCE OF OUR AIRPORT WITH PEOPLE'S NAMES ON IT.
JUST LIKE JOHN WAS TALKING ABOUT WITH SOME OF SO FORTH, BUT THIS WOULD BE ON BRICKS.
DID JOHN KNOW ABOUT IT? DID YOU, DID YOU HEAR THAT JOHN BRICK, BRICK IDEA? HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF IT OR? YEAH, THAT'S, I MEAN THEY DID THAT.
I KNOW THEY DID THAT FOR THE, UH, WAY BACK, UH, WHEN WE, WHEN WE DID THE, UM, DOWNTOWN, UH, FOR THE KIDS.
YOU GOT THE NAME, NAME ON THE SLAT.
I THINK THEY DID PRETTY GOOD WITH THAT.
MONEY, WE, WE GOTTA SELL A LOT OF BRICKS, SO WE EITHER SELL A LOT OF LESS EXPENSIVE BRICKS OR A COUPLE OF REALLY, REALLY EXPENSIVE BIG BRICKS.
ALRIGHT, THANK YOU VERY MUCH ANN.
MM-HMM,
BUDGET COMMITTEE WOULD'VE NOTHING 'CAUSE THAT THAT WAS DONE A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND I THINK THAT'S IT, RIGHT? FOR ALL THE COMMITTEES.
OH, HILTON HAD IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE.
EVERYTHING ON HILTON HEAD HAS IMPROVED
NO, HE DID THAT BECAUSE HE KICKED US ALL OFF THE COMMITTEE
SO THAT WAS A BIG IMPROVEMENT, BUT ALL, EVERYTHING MOVING.
UM, LET'S SEE, SINCE THAT, THAT CONCLUDES ALL THE COMMITTEE REPORTS, WE HAVE NOW OPENED
[XII. CITIZEN COMMENT]
IT UP FOR, UH, THE MULTITUDE OF CITIZENS HERE TO, UH, COMMENT FOR NO LONGER THAN THREE MINUTES HEARING.I DUNNO IF IT'S NONE NECESSARILY PART OF THIS, BUT, UH, UM, OR COMMITTEE REPORTS OR WHATEVER THE CASE MAY BE,
[00:50:01]
PROBABLY MORE APPROPRIATE.BUT I DID WANT TO THANK EVERYBODY FOR THE, UH, UH, THE WORK AT THE BEAUFORT AIRPORT.
I WAS GONNA, UH, UH, POINT OUT THE NEW PARKING LOT, BUT JOHN ALREADY DID THAT.
BUT THE OTHER THING THAT I'M REAL HAPPY ABOUT IS THE HOSE REEL.
NOW WINDS ITSELF BACK UP AGAIN INSTEAD OF THE MANUAL CRANKING.
SO REALLY APPRECIATE THE, THE HOSE WHEEL BEING UP TO DATE.
IT'S A SIMPLE, IT'S A LITTLE THING.
HEY, RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU EVER PINCH YOURSELF ON A HOSE REEL THAT WASN'T WORKING PROPERLY.
UM, I ALSO WANTED TO JUST, UH, BEFORE, UH, BEFORE ADJOURNMENT, UM, THANK HOWARD FOR ALL THE, ALL HIS TIME AND ENERGY, UM, UH, WITH THE BOARD, UH, AND ALL THE VICE CHAIRS IN BETWEEN AND EVERYBODY THAT'S THE BOARD MEMBER.
UM, AND EVERYBODY HAS MY EMAIL IF THEY'VE GOT ANY QUESTIONS TO SEND TO ME.
UM, OR, UH, OFFERS OF IMPROVEMENT, LET'S NOT CALL IT, UM, BEAT DOWNS, BUT WAYS TO IMPROVE WOULD BE FINE ON THE EMAIL SUBJECT LINE.
UH, AND OTHER THAN THAT, UH, WE ASK FOR A MOTION FOR ADJOURNMENT.
