SO THANK YOU.I'M LIKE, HEY, THEY HAVE A SLOT.
WE CAN FIND THE FORM OF THE BOARD MEETING.
SHE SAID SHE DID AN AWESOME JOB.
THE NEXT ITEM IS OUR JANUARY OF STUPID LEVELS OR NORTHERN SHIVA CHARACTER ED FOR JANUARY.
OUR CHARACTER EDUCATION PROGRAM WAS FORMED TO SUPPORT PARENTS EFFORTS TO DEVELOP GOOD CHARACTER IN THEIR CHILDREN TONIGHT FOR CELEBRATING THE CHARACTER AND STUDENT EXHIBITING THE CHARACTER TRAIT OF PERSEVERANCE.
PERSEVERANCE HAS BEEN FINE AS PURSUING.
WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES, DETERMINATION AND PATIENCE WHILE EXHIBITING FORTITUDE.
WE'RE HAPPY TO NOW THAT OUR CHARACTER EDUCATION FROM NORTHERN NORTHERN BUFORD COUNTY FOR JANUARY IS FROM JOSEPH.
COME UP WITH, WELL, DRESSES WITH US TONIGHT, AND I'M GLAD HE'S UP HERE.
I WANT TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HIM.
THIS IS WILLIAMS MS. JAKE JENKINS, KINDERGARTEN CLASS AT JOSEPH SHANKMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NOMINATED AS A STUDENT LEADER OF THE MONTH FOR JANUARY CHARACTER TRAIT PERSEVERE AND LEADER IN ME HABITS.
GOOD WITH THE END IN MIND, PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, HIS TEACHERS HAD PUSHED HIM TO START ASSIGNMENT BECAUSE YOU DID NOT LIKE THE WRITING SINCE THEN HIS PRACTICE AND STRENGTHEN HIS PENCIL, MAKING IT MORE CONFIDENT AND DETERMINED TO FINISH HIS WORK.
HE HAS ESPECIALLY SHOW PERSEVERANCE IN MATH WHEN IT COMES TO SUBTRACTION PROBLEMS. IF HE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT TO DO, HE WILL ASK A CLASSMATE OR TEACHER FOR HELP WHEN IT'S MOST SPECIAL IS THAT HE WILL ENCOURAGE OTHERS BY USING THE WORDS THAT HE HEARS HIS TEACHERS WOULD SAY TO HIM, HE IS DETERMINED TO PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST IN YOUR CLASSROOM.
HE ALSO SOMETIMES CORRECTS HIMSELF AND DOES THINGS LIKE GOING BACK TO HIS SEAT AND TRY AND GET AGAIN.
WHEN HE CATCHES HIMSELF TRYING TO RUN IN THE CLASS, HE ALSO ENCOURAGES OTHERS, ESPECIALLY THE BEST FRIEND IN HIS CLASS TO KEEP TRYING AND TO NOT GIVE UP THIS TEACHERS AND CLASSMATES ARE PROUD OF HIM FOR ALL THIS HARD WORK AND PERSEVERANCE.
I WANT TO CONGRATULATE TRISTAN AND I HAVE FOR YOU TRUST THE CERTIFICATE RECOGNITION FOR YOUR HARD WORK AND YOUR PERSEVERANCE ON THE AGENDA.
THIS EVENING IS A GAME BALL PRESENTATION.
THIS IS AN AWARD THAT I GIVE OUT VERY AUDIT WHEN WE CATCH OUTSTANDING THINGS AND AN EXCELLENT HAPPENING.
AND SO THIS EVENING, I WANT TO GIVE THE GAME BALL BUFORD COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT TO DR.
[00:20:02]
WOW.I THOUGHT I HAD AN UPDATE WHATSOEVER.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS DAY BALL AND GETS A LOT.
UM, LIKE I SAID YESTERDAY, IT'S NOT A I AS A TEAM.
SO THIS REPRESENTS THE WORK OF THE TEAM.
AND I JUST HOPE THAT THE BOARD MEMBERS TODAY WILL SEE THE NEED TO CONTAIN IS, UM, ANNUAL CONFERENCE OR NOT ONLY OUR TEACHERS, BUT OUR COMMUNITY SLOT.
[Points of Celebration]
THAT I WANT TO RECOGNIZE THIS EVENING ON THE POST OF CELEBRATION IS REALLY A PARTNERSHIP THAT A SCHOOL DISTRICT PASSED WITH A GULF FARMER'S CO-OP.THIS PARTNERSHIP IS A VERY EXCITING INITIATIVE INVOLVING NOT ONLY THE BEETROOT COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT SEDEXO AND THE GOLF FARMER SCHOOL.
I HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT OUT AT THE GOLF FARMERS CO-OP BUILDING.
AND THEN ALSO GO OUT TO THE FARM.
WHAT'S EXCITING ABOUT THIS INITIATIVE IS THAT OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL BE BUYING PRODUCE FROM OUR LOCAL FARMS IN ST.
SO THIS IS COME UP AND JOIN US FOR THE PRESENTATION.
THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE HERE, MR. LEVIN, I'M HERE.
BEFORE I GIVE HIM A CHANCE TO SPEAK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THIS, THIS IS, THIS IS REALLY INCREDIBLE AND A REALLY EXCITING OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR STUDENTS, UH, CAN GO OUT ON A FIELD TRIP, RIGHT? AND GO TO THE FARM, SEE THE PRODUCE BEING GROWN OUT THERE, GO OVER TO THE PULL-OUT BUILDING.
SEE THE PACKAGING AS IT HAPPENS, GO BACK TO THEIR SCHOOL AND HAVE LUNCH AND EAT THIS NUTRITIOUS MEAL, RIGHT? THAT COMES FROM OUR LOCAL FARM HERE.
WE HAVE A VIDEO THAT I WANT TO SHOW FIRST AND SHOWCASE, AND THEN I WANT TO TURN IT OVER TO THE DIFFERENT COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT IS EXCITED ABOUT THIS NEW INITIATIVE, PARTNERING WITH OUR LOCAL FARMERS HERE FROM THE GULF FARMER'S CO-OP FARMERS COOPERATIVE IS A GROUP OF, UM, SMALL FARMERS COMING TOGETHER TO SELL THEIR PRODUCE FROM THE COOPERATIVE ABOUT BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEMS THAT SMALL FARMS WERE HAVING AFTER THEY GREW THE PRODUCT, IT DIDN'T HAVE ANY MARKET CAN GET RID OF IT.
SO WE FIGURED WE BRING THE GROUP TOGETHER AND START A COOPERATIVE, PUT ALL OUR PRODUCE TOGETHER PACKAGE, GIVE THEM AUGUST THAT THEY WERE HELPFUL.
REASONABLY GULLAH CO-OP GET STARTED.
WE WERE LOOKING FOR AN OPPORTUNITY FOR FARMERS TO SELL PRODUCTS OTHER THAN GOING TO A FARMER'S MARKET.
WHEN IT GOT SATURATED WITH SURPLUS PRODUCT, HAVING ANOTHER VENUE AND WHOLESALE BECAME THAT THE OTHER VENUE.
SO THE COOPERATIVE GOT STARTED TO BUY A WHOLESALE OUTLET FOR SMALL FARMERS.
SO FOR OUR LOCAL FARMERS, IT'S IMPORTANT FOR THEM TO GET THEIR PRODUCT OUT.
AND WHAT A BETTER WAY FOR US IS TO JUST BRING IT STRAIGHT TO THE TABLE AT THE KIDS AND PRODUCE A GREAT PRODUCT FOR THEM TO TRY.
I THINK KIDS ARE A LOT MORE WILLING TRY SOMETHING.
IF THEY KNOW IT CAME FROM A FARM RIGHT HERE IN BUFORD, IN THIS AREA ON SINGH HELEN, THERE, IT HAS SOME OF THE BEST SOUL AND CLIMATE ROOT VEGETABLES.
AND WE WANT TO MAINTAIN THAT PRIMARILY BECAUSE WE CAN MAINTAIN A PRODUCTIVE LAND.
WE CAN ACTUALLY MAINTAIN A PRODUCTIVE CULTURE AND THE LAND AND THE CULTURE GOES HAND IN HAND.
WE DO CALL US IN CABBAGE, CUCUMBERS, SQUASH PEPPERS, BUT TOMATOES, I THINK IS THE BIG CROP THAT WE GROW IN.
PEOPLE SELL IN VOLUME RIGHT NOW, WORKING WITH THE CLEMSON EXTENSION SERVICE.
WE ARE EXPERIMENTING WITH ROMAINE LETTUCE AND ROMAINE LETTUCE WILL BE OUR CHIEF COMMODITY WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT BECAUSE THE SCHOOL DISTRICT IS SERVING THAT EVERY DAY IN THE SALAD BAR.
WHEN WE GET THE PRODUCT IN, WE CAN AUTOMATICALLY TELL THAT IT'S OUR GULLAH FARMER'S PRODUCT.
THAT'S COMING INTO THE SCHOOLS.
THE PRODUCT IS IT DOESN'T, IT'S NOT HANDLED AS MUCH AS A PRODUCT THAT HAS BEEN PRODUCED AND TRUCKS.
THEY CUT IT HERE AND IT GETS DELIVERED.
YOU CAN TELL THE FRESHNESS, IT IS SO REFRESHING TO HAVE THAT KIND OF PRODUCT COME IN BECAUSE IT GIVES US LONGER SHELF LIFE THAT WE'RE ABLE TO BRING AND PRODUCE MORE ITEMS OUT OF THE ONE PRODUCT FOR THESE STUDENTS.
IT GIVES US AN OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPORT OUR LOCAL FARMERS HERE IN BUFORD COUNTY.
[00:25:01]
A CHANCE TO EAT FRESH PRODUCE THAT COMES RIGHT FROM HERE, RIGHT FROM THEIR BACKYARD HERE IN BUFORD COUNTY, BRINGING PRODUCT THAT COMES STRAIGHT FROM THE FIELD TO THE SCHOOL IS VERY IMPORTANT.I NEED THE EDUCATIONAL PART OF IT THAT WE'RE PLANNING ON DOING IS GREAT FOR THE KIDS TO UNDERSTAND WHERE THEIR PRODUCE COMES FROM.
IT'S NOT THE GROCERY STORE, BUT IT'S ACTUALLY THE FIELD WE'RE PRODUCING OUR MONTHLY SEASONING BASED ON RECIPES THAT WE HAVE IN OUR SYSTEM.
SO OUR SCHOOLS AND OUR MANAGERS WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE WHATEVER PRODUCT THAT WE DO GET, OR WE HIGHLIGHT AS THE MONTHLY, WE DO PLAN ON USING OTHER ITEMS, BUT WE DO WANT TO HIGHLIGHT ONE PRODUCT PER MONTH.
SO THERE'S AN EDUCATIONAL PIECE BEHIND IT.
WHEN YOU GET FRESH FROM THE GARDEN, TAKE IT TO THE CAFETERIA, COOK IT THE NEXT DAY.
IT HAS A DIFFERENT TASTE TO IT.
AND THE KIDS WOULD CERTAINLY EAT IT.
NO THEY LIKE BECAUSE OF THE FRESHMAN, IT, SOMETIMES THE SCHOOL IS WHERE THE KIDS ARE GOING TO ACTUALLY GET THEIR GREAT NUTRITION FROM.
SO IT'S IMPORTANT FOR US TO BRING THAT TO THEM.
SO HAVING LOCAL FRESH PRODUCT IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE THEN WE GET TO TAKE AND PROCESS THAT AND PUT IT ON THEIR PLATE FOR THEM TO TRY IF IT'S FRESH, THE KIDS LEAD IT AND LOCAL IS ALWAYS BETTER.
I MEAN, IT ALWAYS TASTES BETTER.
AND AGAIN, THE FACT THAT WE'RE ABLE TO USE THE LOCAL PRODUCT AND HELP OUR FARMERS AS MUCH AS THEY'RE HELPING US.
I THINK IT'S JUST, YOU KNOW, IT'S IS SUCH A GREAT PARTNERSHIP.
ONE OF THE NEAT OUTCOMES FROM A PARTNERSHIP LIKE THIS IS THAT OUR CHILDREN GET A CHANCE TO HEAT, HEALTHY FOODS THAT COME RIGHT FROM OUR LOCAL AREA AND SO IMPORTANT FOR A GOOD NUTRITION IN AN EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT.
WE WANT OUR STUDENTS TO BE WELL-NOURISHED WHILE THEY GET READY TO LEARN ALL THE STUDIES THAT THEY'RE ENGAGED IN BIG.
CAN YOU BE OKAY? I JUST WANT Y'ALL TO KNOW WHAT PROCESSES HAS BEEN LITERALLY HOW MANY YEARS TO SAFE, YOU CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN.
THERE'S SO MUCH BY WAY OF REGULATORY COMPLIANCE THAT GETTING INTO THAT, THAT SUPPLY CHAIN AND THESE GUYS, AND THEY'RE JUST IN SUCH A GOOD JOB A LITTLE TIME WITH YOU.
ONE OF THE THINGS LARRY, BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN WORKING AT THE SAME FOR A LONG TIME AND THESE OVER THE YEARS, WE'VE BEEN TRYING TO PUT IT TOGETHER.
WE STARTED A FEW YEARS BACK RIGHT.
BUT WHAT WOULD WE LIKE TO DO IS KIND OF SET THE EXAMPLE FOR THE RESIDENTS OUT THERE, WHAT WE CAN DO.
CAN YOU WORK TOGETHER? AND WE DIDN'T DO IT RESIDENT, STATE, AND WORLD, WHAT CAN HAPPEN? THANK YOU.
WE WERE AT THIS PROBABLY 12 YEARS TIME WHEN I WAS IN CLEMSON AND WE GOT TOGETHER AND WE MET WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT, DA DSS COUNTY GOVERNMENT, EVERYBODY COMING TOGETHER TO SAY, HOW CAN WE DO THE FARM TO SCHOOL? AND WHAT ARE THE KEY COMPONENTS TO DOING? IT WAS THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.
AND THE SUPERINTENDENT DOWNLINE HAS EMBRACED THIS CONCEPT AS WE REALLY MOVE FORWARD WITH IT.
AND WE APPRECIATE THAT REALLY CARRYING THAT TORCH AS WELL, BECAUSE IT'S SO IMPORTANT TO HAVE THE SCHOOL DISTRICT, UM, ENDORSING THIS PROJECT, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, ALL SORTS OF DISCO, UM, BEING A PARTNER WITH US IS IT'S REALLY HAS TAKEN IT TO A DIFFERENT LEVEL.
AND I, I SAY THAT BECAUSE LARRY HAD BEEN REALLY WORKING WITH THE CO-OP TO GET FOOD IN THE CHAIN MARKET, WE WERE DELIVERING ON A WEEKLY BASE SCHOOL, THAT SCHOOL THAT I'VE SEEN AND WE'RE ACTUALLY FOLLOWING, UM, LIGHTHOUSE, UH, DISTRIBUTED.
UM, SO THERE WERE ONE THAT SEEMS TO TAKE A NEW PRODUCT WE'RE TAKING ON FRIDAY.
UM, I MUST HAVE A LOT OF PRODUCT WHEN THERE, WE ONLY HAVE A FEW.
UM, LARRY HAS REALLY WORKED WITH LIGHTHOUSE AND LIMEHOUSE WILL BE A DISTRIBUTOR FOR US.
UM, SO WE'LL BE TAKING OFF PRODUCT TO BUY A HOUSE, UM, IN THE FUTURE AND THEY WILL THEN EAT DISTRIBUTING AND THAT CONNECTION TO SAVING US, THAT TRANSPORTATION THAT WE ARE DOING, THAT WE DON'T HAVE TO DO WITH KIDS.
AND, UM, BUT THE SCHOOL DISTRICT IS STILL BUYING FOR US.
[00:30:01]
UM, BEFORE THAT I SIT DOWN, I DO WANT TO SAY THAT I DO ENDORSE.UM, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE SOME SPEAKERS TONIGHT, UH, FROM THE COMMUNITY.
I DO ENDORSE THEIR EFFORTS, UM, TO SAVE, UM, UM, THERE'S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AND BEGINNING STAGE SEDATION.
UM, BIRDS OF PREY IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE WORDS.
UM, I'M GOING TO FEED THESE BIRDS AND, UM, THERE'S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BALD EAGLE AND GOLDEN EAGLE AND OSPREY, UM, ST.
HELENA, DESKTOP, AND DIFFERENT HIGH TAKEN UP HOME, THE GOLDEN EAGLE THAT SHE'LL ALWAYS BE THE MESS THAT CITY LEGISLATION.
SO I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU.
I WOULD JUST SAY TO YOU RIGHT THERE, I GREW UP IN MONTANA.
SO I GUESS MY NATURE, BUT I LEARNED, BUT IF IT JUST SENT OUT WITH THEM TALKING ABOUT IT, UH, UM,
[Public Comments]
QUIET.UM, I WILL JUST POINT OUT TO FOLKS.
YOU CAN'T RESPOND TO, UM, AND NOT ALTER.
SO I NEED TO FIX THAT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
I AM SAD TO BE HERE FOR THEM ALL BACK.
I WAS TRYING TO GET THE ADMINISTRATION TO COME UP,
[00:35:01]
TO SHOW THE UNIQUE, CALM.AND I WANT TO CLEAR THAT I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THIS, AND I KNOW THAT, AND THEY KNOW ME AND I HAVE, AND I TOLD THEM ABOUT WHAT TO DO ABOUT THE EAGLE.
I MEAN ABOUT THE BECAUSE A COMPANY MISSES ONE PHONE, YOU CAN MISS SAME JOURNEY.
YOU SEE THE PHONE, BUT SEVEN MONTHS AND YOU PUT THIS TOGETHER.
IT WASN'T NOTHING THAT WAS DONE SPONTANEOUSLY.
AND WE HOPE THAT PEOPLE IN THE COMPANY, THEY SEE WHAT IT'S MADE, WHAT WAS GOING ON.
I WENT TO ANIMALS TO GET AN UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT'S GOING ON.
AND I CAN'T SAY WHAT I'M WANT TO SAY.
NOW, CAPTAIN BETWEEN A IT'S BOTH NEED TO COME UP WITH SOME TYPE OF LESSON THAT YOU ARE GOING TO KNOW THE .
IT WAS THE FIRST CLASS WITH ALL THE SCHOOLS THAT GOT TOGETHER.
AND SO TELLING THEM, OKAY, THREE MINUTES, THE CLASS OF 1971 WAS THE FIRST INTEGRATED CLASS COMBINED ROBIN SMALLS.
AND THE MASCOT ARE DECIDED ON BY THE STUDENTS WHO MET REPRESENTING EACH SCHOOL.
GREEN AND WHITE CAME FROM ROBERT SMALL COLORED GREEN.
HELENA GREEN AND GOLD WAS THEIR COLOR.
AND THEN THE NAME HAD COLORS THEN WERE RED AND WHITE.
BUT BECAUSE THEY COMBINE THE SCHOOL, EVERYBODY HAD TO GET PIECE OF THE WRONG.
SO THE LEFT, YOU COULD HIDE WITH THE NAME BECAUSE THIS IS BEAUTIFUL.
SO WE CAME OVER TO ROBIN SMILES, AS YOU CAN SEE, I HAVE GREEN AND WHITE, BEAUTIFUL COLOR.
AND THE EAGLE IN THAT MASCOT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THIS, BUT WE WENT OUT ON THE FIELD.
WE WERE JUST BUMPED VALLEY THAT THEY HAD THAT OUT THERE 15 YEARS.
AND WE HAD A SMOOTH TRANSITION.
WE WERE ONE OF THE BEST UPSTATE.
THEY HAD A MESS, BUT BEAUTIFUL COUNTY.
SO WHY CHANGE SOMETHING THAT IS GOING WELL? AND THE CHILDREN, OUR CHILDREN ARE LOST BECAUSE THEY NEED THE NOTE, THE HISTORY, BLACK, WHITE, MEXICAN,
[00:40:01]
WHATEVER.THAT'S WHY THAT EAGLE IS THERE.
SO I WANT YOU ALL TO PUT IN YOUR MIND, JUST THINK ABOUT THE SCHOOLS THAT YOU CAME FROM, AND IF THEY CHANGE YOUR MASCOTS, THE MEMORIES YOU HAVE, WE WERE, SO IT WAS TERRIBLE.
SO WE SAW WHATEVER THEY HAD OUT THERE, NOTHING WRONG WITH THE EAGLE.
AND I'M GONNA KEEP MY MINUTES, BUT I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT, JUST PUTTING YOUR MIND AND HEART THAT FOR THE CHILDREN, SAVE THE CHILDREN.
THE FUTURE THEY'LL KNOW WHY THEY'RE AT BUFORD HIGH AND HOW THEY CAME ABOUT.
THAT'S ALL I'M ASKING YOU ALL, NOTHING TOO HARD TO DO.
THE CHILDREN, THE CHILDREN DON'T HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH IT.
WE ARE THE ONES THAT GOT THE PROBLEM.
NEVER HAVE NO PROBLEMS, BUT IT'S US.
I THINK ALL OF US VERSUS SINCE THE THREE INDIGO, UM, THERE'S REALLY GOOD TO SEE EVERYONE COME TOGETHER IN FOCUSING ON SOMETHING WE HAD COME.
IF WE WANTED TO DO THAT OURSELVES ON OUR DIFFERENCES, WE WILL END UP BEING WITH HERE.
WE HAVE WHITE FOLKS, BLACK FOLKS, YOUNG, ALL DECIDED TO COME TOGETHER.
THIS IS THE SAME THING THAT HAPPENED IN 1969 IN THE SPRING OF 1969.
WHEN THE SCHOOL BOARD MET TO DECIDE AND IMMIGRATION JUDGE MCDONALD'S SAID THAT BUFORD WAS AN EXAMPLE HERE.
NOW IT WAS AN EXAMPLE IN 1971, THE SMOOTHEST TRANSITION, NOT ONLY IN THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, BUT THROUGHOUT THIS COUNTRY, ALL OF A SUDDEN STATES.
WELL THAT'S WHEN WE SEE SOMEONE THIS YEAR AND IT'S MUCH MORE THAN JUST CHANGE.
UM, THE CHALLENGE REALLY LIES.
THERE IS IN PLACE, SOMETHING THAT WILL CHECK WHAT HAS HAPPENED.
THOSE GUIDELINES WILL NOT FOLLOWING THE CHANGING OR MASCOT ISSUE.
WE WOULD NOT HAVE TO J YOU HISTORY, LEARN A LOT MORE ABOUT THE HISTORY WHERE WE CAME TO THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY.
THE BURN FIRST STOP WAS THE THIS AT BEST.
AND THIS IS WHAT WE BEAR THAT CAME OUT.
[00:45:01]
BEFORE 2031, THESE PHOTOS, I KNOW YOU HAVE SAVED THEM BECAUSE IT'S JUST THE NEW UNIFORM THAT LOOKED THE TIME AUTHORIZE THAT BE UPSET BECAUSE I WAS ONE OF THOSE ONES THAT VOTED FOR THE EAGLES TO REMAIN THE, AND THAT ME.NOW, WE NEED TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS TO FIND OUT IF YOU ALL DID NOT FUCK THE RIDE, WE'LL WALK THE RIDES AND WE'RE NOT HAPPY.
I'M NOT HAPPY INTERVIEW ALL OF IT, NOT AUTHORIZE THIS.
SO I ASKED YOU A LITTLE THE BOWL BEFORE, WILL YOU THINK THAT THIS AND COME BACK AND MAKE IT EAGLE GREEN AND WHITE COLOR, THE FLAG WHO PUT THE BLACK AND THEY HAVE NO BLACK SHOULD BE YOUR THIS RIGHT.
AND THE RIGHT THING FOR YOU ALL TO DO IS BACK OUT.
I JUST WANT TO KNOW YOU THOUGH.
I WANT TO KNOW HOW MANY OF YOU GRADUATES.
EVEN A KID IS AS A RETIRED DISABLED VETERAN OF THE UNITED STATES.
THE MILITARY EAGLE IS IT PLAYS A BIG PART.
SO, AND YOU'VE BEEN HIGH AND IT'S PAINFUL.
BUT I HEARD THAT THAT WAS THE JUSTIFICATION BEHIND.
HOW LONG DID YOU KNOW WHAT MATTERS IS? DID YOU INFORM YOUR DISTRICT THAT WHAT WAS GOING ON THAT WE PUT YOU THERE TO KEEP US INFORMED THAT'S NOT BEING DONE.
AND I WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU ALL DO THINGS A LITTLE DIFFERENT IN THINK ABOUT THE PEOPLE HERE, BECAUSE YOU KNOW, THE BEST PEOPLE CAN DO THIS AS AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN WOMAN.
I HAD A LOT OF FILES AND THAT I HAD MY GREG'S TEAM FROM ME.
I'M NOT, AND RIGHT NOW YOU'RE DOING SOMETHING AND I HAVE NO INPUT.
WE, YOU ALL HAVE A STANDARD AND THAT A STAND THIS EQUAL.
IF IT'S CLOCK ABOUT PATCHING MATERIAL AND EVERYBODY'S VOICES ABOUT , I CAN TELL MY AGE, I ACCEPTED THE KEYS ON THE NIGHT TO GET THREE MINUTES CONSOLIDATED.
SO I CAN TELL MY AGE STANDPOINT ABOUT WORKING THERE AS A COACH, AS A TEACHER, I HAD THE PLEASURE OF ACTUALLY BEING THE MENTOR FOR YOUR GLOBAL FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP, KNOCKED MY ENERGY AND MY OWN MIND.
SO THEY TALKED ABOUT BLANK AND COMBINED THREE SCHOOLS.
[00:50:01]
PLEASURE IN 19 70, 71.WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT COMBINING YOUR TWO HIGH, PROBABLY SMALL AND SIMPLE, IT WASN'T THE ADULT STEP, WHICH SINCE IT WAS DONE BY THE STUDENTS, WE SELECTED THOSE MEMBERS FROM THOSE THREE SCHOOLS THAT WERE GOING TO BE SENIORS NEXT YEAR, BUT THEY DID IT WITHOUT ARGUING BLAME DISCUSSIONS.
THE TRANSITION TO INTEGRATED SCHOOLS IN THE, THE MODEL IS DONE HERE.
I WANT THE GUIDANCE COUNSELOR.
I WAS ASKED TO COME TO CHARLESTON AT THAT TIME, JUST BEFORE THIS HAPPENED IN 19 73, 63, MY FATHER SAID, WOULD YOU SAY TODAY ON THE SCHOOL, MY DAD WAS ONE OF THE PEOPLE TO TALK ABOUT WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO IN SENIORS? SO WE LOOK AT THOSE THINGS AND LOOK AT THOSE THREE SCHOOLS, BUT THE TRANSITION VERY EASY TO THE MAIN AMONG THE SUITS, THAT WAS AN AMAZING DISCUSSION, TIED AWAY, GREAT PROMISE.
AND ALL OF THOSE THINGS, CERTAINLY FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS, AS I WENT THROUGHOUT THIS COUNTRY AND SEEING HOW PEOPLE CAN GET ALONG.
YOU ASKED THE QUESTION, WHAT THIS, AGAIN, IT WILL DISCUSS THIS TOWN IS HAVING AN INCIDENT HERE.
YOU WERE ATTENDING DIFFERENT RATHER THAN REALLY NEW COLLEGE TRANSITION OUT OF WORK TOGETHER.
BUT THERE IS A WAY TO GET THINGS DONE.
WHEN YOU'RE BROKE, YOU DISCUSS IT AMONG YOURSELVES AND SAY, LET'S GET IT.
AND SAY, HOW LONG AGO OPENED THE 1953? WHEN THEY CLOSED? YOU CAN SAY THERE WASN'T A DISCUSSION ABOUT WHAT MASCOT WAS.
THERE WERE TWO EMAILS ON SALE, ONE IN 5, 10, 17, IT MAKES READING.
SO THE PASSION THAT YOU SEE ABOUT THAT AND THAT SCOTT, WHAT WE HAVE BEEN PHILADELPHIA, WE HAVE THE RICHARDSON, UM, I'LL HERE.
IT'S ALREADY BEEN STATED, BUT A LOT OF THE OTHERS THAT ARE HERE, WE DISAGREE WITH THAT REP.
WHAT ELSE CAME TOGETHER? BRING YOUR WHITE EAGLE GROUPS THAT HELD THE RED TIDE, ALL THAT MURDERS.
THIS IS WHO WE ARE AND DO THE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT IN THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
LIKE YOU SAID, THERE WAS A LOT, NOT ONLY STEAKS OFF.
IT WAS KIND OF ROUGH TIMES WITH TWO BLACKS AND ONE IN THE CITY, ONE ON THE ISLAND, WHAT WE DID AND EVERYBODY WAS PROUD OF IT.
AND WE'VE BEEN PROUD OF THAT SINCE 1971, WE STACKED UP AGAINST EACH OTHER IN THE DUMB SESSIONS.
THERE ARE SO MANY KIDS IN THE GRADUATING CLASS ON THE 700 SLIPPED SESSION THAT ARRIVED.
THE BUS 12, O'CLOCK GET TO SCHOOL, GET OUT THREE OR FOUR O'CLOCK EARLY.
I HAD FRIENDS WHO WAS, SAY, HELL, I HAVE FRIENDS WHO WERE TITLED, BUT WE ALL CAME TOGETHER AND WE LIKED THAT REBATES.
[00:55:02]
EXACTLY ON WHAT EVERYBODY ELSE HAS SAID.I GRADUATED FROM ROBERT SMALLS HIGH SCHOOL, AND I DON'T WANT TO TELL HIM MY AGE.
I GRADUATED IN 1968 WHILE I WAS FAST, THREE SCHOOL AT 10, WE WERE HARD TOGETHER TO ACCOMPLISH WHAT WE DID DURING AN INTEGRATION AND TO SEE IT BEING TAKEN AWAY.
BUT I'LL GIVE IT ANY CONSIDERATION TO THE MEMBERS OF THE ROBERT SMITH ASSOCIATION, SAY HELL ON THE ASSOCIATION.
AND EVEN THE MEMBER FROM THE CLASS OF 1971 AND B.
AND THEN HOW IS IT THAT, AND WE USE A TERM THAT WE USED TO USE BACK IN THE DAY, THOSE PEOPLE WHO COME HERE, YOU CAN TELL PEOPLE WHO'VE BEEN HERE HAVING THIS DISCUSSION ABOUT AN E.
YOU KNOW, WE WENT ALONG TO GET ALONG, TO MAKE THINGS SMOOTH, TRANSITION, SO WE CAN BE HERE AND SEE THAT IT'S NOT GOING TO BE CONSIDERED IS UPSETTING.
AND TO SEE THAT YOU HAVE TO BOARD ARE SUPPOSED TO MAKE THE DECISION AND WE ALLOW OTHER PEOPLE TO DO SO.
I THINK THAT YOU ALL GO BACK TOGETHER AND LOOK AT THIS WHAT HAS HAPPENED.
I THINK YOU WILL COME BACK TO THE CONCLUSION THAT RENO WHITE LET'S CHANGE.
THE WRINKLES WE'VE HAD THAT TO HAPPEN TO THE NATIONAL ACADEMY WAS CHANGED WITHOUT THE COMMUNITY.
AND NOW I UNDERSTAND THAT SOME THE WORK, AGAIN, TO CHANGE THE NAME, WHY DON'T JUST CHANGE IT BACK TO ROBERTSVILLE SCHOOL AND ACCEPT THE FACT THAT THAT'S WHAT IT IS.
LET'S SAY RIGHT NOW, UH, THE CITIZENS OF NEW SCREENS ARE SUFFERING RIGHT NOW BECAUSE THEY'RE BEING ATTACKED BY THE COMMUNISTS.
AND THEY WOULD LOVE TO HAVE OPPORTUNITY.
WE HAVE RIGHT NOW TO COME HOME AND TALK ABOUT WHAT THE ISSUES ARE.
SO LET'S REMEMBER THEM AND OPERATORS TONIGHT.
AND I'M ALSO A BANKING I BRED IN 1971 HIGH SCHOOL BEFORE THEN STEVE, ME AND MYSELF AND OTHERS.
WE WERE AT GMAIL TIED TOGETHER.
SO WE WERE TOGETHER FOR OVER SIX YEARS.
UH UM, THE TRANSITION THAT WE HAD IN 1971 WAS CONSIDERING TWO RIVAL SCHOOLS, ST.
WE SHOULD BE TEACHING ON IS THAT WE CAME TOGETHER AND WE ALL GOT ALONG AND HAD A VERY, VERY SMOOTH TRANSITION.
THERE WAS NO FUSSING AND FIGHTING ON SCHOOL GROUNDS, AND WE SHOULD BE PROUD OF THAT.
AND WE SAY, WE WANT TO BE A CHILD OF GOD WILL BE A CHILD OF GOD, BROTHERS AND SISTERS.
IF YOU'RE A CHILD OF, THEN YOU, YOU, YOU, YOU, YOU LET ONE BEHIND ME.
WE ARE BROTHERS AND SISTERS READ ROMANS CHAPTER 14, 1 29.
IF SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING TO OFFEND YOU, OKAY, ROMANS 14, 29, IF SOMETHING IS DONE TO OFFEND SOMEONE, THEN YOU DON'T DO IT.
IF I OFFEND SOMEONE BY WEARING KHAKI PANTS, I'M NOT GONE.
DOESN'T MEAN I WON'T WEAR IT AROUND THEM, BUT I'M STILL GOING TO WEAR IT.
AND YOU, AND MAYBE THOSE WHO DID IT MAKE YOU WANT TO MAKE, YOU CAN SIT AND DO IT,
[01:00:02]
BUT IT IS.AND YOU'VE HEARD, UH, BROTHERS AND SISTERS STATED THIS IS THE YEAR, BUT 1971.
AND YOU CAN SEE AN EAGLE HIGH AND THE COLORS, BUT IT IS SOMETHING THAT WE SHOULD CELEBRATE.
AND NOT JUST BE CAST ASIDE, IT'S NOT GOING TO HELP.
I'M JUST NOT GOING TO HELP WITH ANY MORE FOOTBALL GAMES.
IT'S NOT GOING TO ME ANY OF THAT.
AND THAT'S THE CHALLENGE IS ALWAYS WORK.
SO LET'S KEEP IT THE WAY THAT IT'S.
I'M CALLING YOU FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS.
I'M GOING TO PUT YOU ON SPEAKER.
YOU READY NOW? HELLO, MY NAME'S BARBARA PORCI.
I TEACH AT ROBERT SMALLS AND I'M AN ELEMENTARY TEACHER OF TODD , HE ABOUT THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY BEST? UM, IT WAS THE PD OR, UM, EDUCATION I'VE HAD IN FOUR YEARS.
UM, I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BECAUSE I AM HERE AND I'M PART OF THE IS, ARE, AND WHEN MY KIDS ARE SHIT, THEY ARE MORE POWERFUL AND YOU'RE STRONG AND YOU'RE ABLE TO, UM, AND WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO THEM AND A RICH HERITAGE AND, UM, KNOWING YOUR PAST IS IMPORTANT.
SO I NEED TO UNDERSTAND YOUR PAST TO TEACH THAT TO THEM.
AND SO MANY SPEAKERS THAT WERE AMAZING, UM, OUTSTANDING.
THEY WERE ABLE TO AWARD SPEAKER, BUT I THINK THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT YOU TOOK AWAY FROM THAT, AND THEN GOING TO BE ABLE TO SHARE WITH MY CHILDREN, THAT THE PERSONAL STORY, UM, THAT'S FORM WHO WE ARE AND HOW WE INTERACT WITH THE WORLD AROUND US, AND THE BEST WAY TO NATURE.
YOU'RE ABLE TO CONNECT WITH OTHER CHARACTERS IN THE STORY.
SO, UM, I, AGAIN, I CAME AWAY FEELING LIKE THE HUMOR, KINDNESS, AND THEN JUDGMENT AND, UM, WHAT SHIFTS POWERFUL.
[01:05:03]
I HAVE ONE MORE.I'M GOING TO PUT YOU ON CALLING YOU FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS.
I'M GOING TO PUT YOU ON A SPEAKER.
YOU'LL HAVE THREE MINUTES BECAUSE THANK YOU FIRST AND LAST WEEK.
YES MA'AM ARE YOU READY? GO AHEAD, PLEASE.
HI, AND BE HOME BY IN THE MEANTIME MASCOT AND DENIED ME.
[01:10:02]
YES, I'M CUTTING YOU OFF FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS.YOU CAN JUST STATE YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME AND PLEASE MUTE YOUR TV.
SO YOU DON'T GET THE FEEDBACK.
UM, I AM ALONG WITH MYSELF AND I JUST WANT TO READ SOMETHING 71 AS AN EXAMPLE OF EXTRAORDINARY INCOME, MEANING, RESPECT, AND HONOR.
UM, AS WE ALMOST NOT ONLY WAS CHANGED IT'S SMALL AUDIO IS THAT OUR ORIGINAL ALL EAGLE , YOU KNOW, OUR DEPUTY THROUGH STORE, UM, BEING HEARD.
UM, MY POLICY IS THE CHAIRMAN'S REPORT.
[Chairman's Report]
UNFORTUNATELY .ALSO THERE WAS A SESSION ON FINANCE ON ONE
[01:15:01]
.WELL, I UNDERSTAND THAT AND ALL THEIR DISHES IS NEW THIS YEAR, THERE'S
[Committee Reports]
ACADEMICS.UM, AND, UH, AND, UM, FOUR, FIVE STAFF WILL BE PRESENTED INTO THIS EPA, UM, LATER IN THE, UH, IN OUR AGENDA.
OUR NEXT MEETING IS, UM, UM, MARCH .
UM, YES, THE AD HOC BLUFFTON GROWTH COMMITTEE MET ON THE 17TH OF FEBRUARY.
AND OUR MAIN ITEM OF CONVERSATION AT THAT MEETING, UM, WAS A CONVERSATION AND A PRESENTATION FROM THE FRICK COUNTY TREASURER, MARIA WALLS.
UM, SHE'S BEEN VERY GRACIOUS TO COME AND REPORT TO US AND PROVIDE US WITH UPDATES ON TAX COLLECTIONS AND TRENDS THAT THEY'RE SEEING AT THE TREASURER'S OFFICE.
UM, SOME NOTABLE THINGS WERE THAT NEW CONSTRUCTION PRESENTLY IN, IN 2022, UM, IS LOOKING LIKE IT'S ALREADY APPROXIMATELY HALF OF WHAT 2021 WAS.
UM, PROPERTY TRANSFERS ARE UP.
VEHICLE ACCOUNTS ARE ALSO UP AND VOLUMINOUS.
ONE OF THE THINGS THAT, UM, I MENTIONED TO THE COMMITTEE WAS ANY CONSIDERATIONS THAT WE DO GIVE FOR, UM, YOU KNOW, ANOTHER SCHOOL SITE IN THE BLUFFTON AREA WILL NEED TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE INCREASED VEHICLES THAT ARE ON THE ROAD AS WELL.
UM, AND THE ACCESSIBILITY THAT, THAT SCHOOL AND NEED TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE, UM, TO STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES.
UM, ONE THING I THINK WE'VE MENTIONED THIS BEFORE, IS THAT THE TAGS OR THE, THE NUMBERS THAT ARE IDENTIFIED FOR THE BLUFFTON AREA ARE NUMBERS 606 10.
SO AS YOU LOOK THROUGH THOSE DOCUMENTS THAT ARE IN BOARD DOCS, UM, YOU CAN PAY ATTENTION TO THOSE SPECIFICALLY IN RELATION TO BLUFFTON.
UM, AND THEN, UH, I JUST WANTED TO MAKE NOTE IN REGARD TO IMPACT THESE, I KNOW DR.
GWADAR HAS BEEN FOLLOWING CLOSELY THE IMPACT FEED DISCUSSION, UM, AND BLUFFED IN THERE IS UP FOR YOUR REVIEW.
IF, IF ANYBODY WANTS TO TAKE A PEEK AT IT, THERE IS THE TOWN OF BLUFFTON.
IT'S A MEETING FROM FEBRUARY 8TH, THAT VIDEO IS UP AND YOU CAN GO DIRECTLY TO THE IMPACT FEE DISCUSSION TO SEE WHAT WAS DISCUSSED THERE.
AND THERE IS A TOWN OF BLUFFTON MEETING COMING UP ON THE EIGHTH, ALTHOUGH THE AGENDA IS NOT AVAILABLE, UM, QUITE YET.
AND THAT CONCLUDES MY REPORT ON THIS.
ANYBODY HAS ANY QUESTIONS? THANK YOU, MR. CHAIRMAN, WE MET ON FEBRUARY 17, MYSELF, COLONEL GEIER SMITH.
UM, AND IT WAS A GREAT TIME FOR ME BECAUSE AS WE GET THIS EXECUTIVE SESSION EVERYDAY IN THE PROCESS OF THE TECHNOLOGY NEEDS ASSESSMENT THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT.
SO WE DISCUSSED THAT AND THE SCOPE OF THAT, UM, ARE KEY, WHICH WILL INCLUDE NETWORK, HEART NETWORK, HARDWARE, UM, SAFETY, SECURITY, DATA AUTOMATION, UM, CLASSROOM INSTRUCTIONAL EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY.
SO WE'RE LOOKING AT OVERSEEING THAT PROCESS, UM, THAT INFORMATION WE GATHERED AND USED IN A DEVELOPING THE DISTRICT'S LATEST TECHNOLOGY PLANET AND THE KIND OF PLAN THAT'S ON OUR DISTRICT IS FROM 2016 TO 2019.
UM, SO IT IS OUT OF DATE, BUT THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, UH, RIGHT ABOUT THE TIME WE NEEDED TO SUBMIT OUR NEWEST VERSION OF THE TECHNOLOGY REPORT ASKED THE DISTRICT TO HOLD OFF, BECAUSE IF THEY, THE SOUTH CAROLINA WAS REVIEWING THEIR TEMPLATES, UM, THAT WAS AT THE END OF 2019.
AND THEN OF COURSE COVID, SO EVERYTHING'S BEEN KIND OF PUT ON HOLD.
THE STATE HAS RELEASED ITS UH, UPDATED TEMPLATE FOR OUR TECHNOLOGY PLAN.
[01:20:01]
I'M JUST SPRAYING THE TECHNOLOGY TEAM MEETINGS TO WORK ON THEIR TECHNOLOGY PLAN AND HOPEFULLY HAVE THAT THIS SUMMER.SO THE TECHNOLOGY PLAN THAT'S ON OUR DESK, OUR DISTRICT IS OUT OF DATE.
AND AS YOU ONE SHOULD BE, I MEAN, SOON WE TALKED A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE BROADBAND INITIATIVES, UH, THROUGH THE OFFICE OF THE FRAUD OFFICE OF BROADBAND REGULATIONS.
THERE'S THE ARM THERE'S SELLER, UM, THAT THEY'RE WORKING WITH THE SCHOOLS AND THEN THE COUNTY TO TRY AND MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE PROVIDING INTERNET TO EVERY HOUSEHOLD, UH, STUDENTS IN SUPER KEN.
UH, FINALLY WE TALKED A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE TECHNOLOGIES MAY, SO, AND WE'RE GOING TO WORK SOME MORE ON THAT OB BECAUSE OB 17, THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATIVE TECHNOLOGY IS BOTH TOO MUCH AND NOT ENOUGH ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
SO WE'RE GOING TO BE WORKING ON THAT, JUST TRYING TO GET A MORE STRATEGIC FOCUS.
UM, OUR NEXT MEETING IS GOING TO BE ON WHEN WE SAY MARCH 30TH AT TWO O'CLOCK AND DEPENDING ON THE TIME, AND WE'LL BE REVIEWING, UH, RECOMMENDATIONS TO LOOK AT SOME OF THAT SECTIONS OF THAT WHOLE WEEK,
[Superintendent's Report]
UP ON THE ISSUE AND ACTUALLY GET OFF THAT HAVE ALREADY TAKEN PLACE AFTER.ALL RIGHT, GOOD EVENING FOR CHAIR MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.
I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
IT WAS SO WONDERFUL SEEING ALL OF OUR BOARD MEMBERS AT OUR FIRST ANNUAL HISTORY AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY EDUCATION CONFERENCE, AND IF IT REALLY MEANT A LOT, UM, AS YOU KNOW, WE HAVE A JAM PACKED THREE-DAY CONFERENCE THAT WAS INTENTIONALLY PLANNED FOR ATTENDEES.
WE KICKED OFF FRIDAY THAT WE'RE 18 ON THE GROUNDS OF THE TECHNICAL COLLEGE ON THE BOWKER DAY ON SATURDAY AND ONE 90 TO THE CAMPUS OF UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA NEWBURGH AND INCLUDED ON THE HISTORICAL GROUNDS.
THE PENN CENTER ON SUNDAY, OUR KEYNOTES FOR THE THREE DAYS INCLUDED, UM, VICTORIA SOLS, DR.
UM, THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 280 PEOPLE WHO ATTENDED THE CONFERENCE.
THE GATE COMBINATION OF THE THREE DAYS CONFERENCE IN ATTENDEES INCLUDED DISTRICT BOARD MEMBER, PRINCIPALS, ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS, TEACHERS, SUPPORT STAFF, STUDENTS, PARENTS, COLLEGE STUDENTS FROM TECHNICAL COLLEGE OF LOW COUNTRY AND UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA, LOCAL ARTISTS, STATE LEADERS.
YOU FIRST SITTING THERE, YOU FIRST CITY COUNCIL, THEN SOUTH CAROLINA STATE REPRESENTATIVE RETIRED EDUCATORS, MILITARY OFFICIALS, HISTORIANS DISTRICT OFFICE STAFF, A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE CIVIL RIGHTS CENTER IN COLUMBIA EDUCATORS FROM THE FOLLOWING STATES, ILLINOIS, NORTH CAROLINA, GEORGIA, AND FLORIDA, ALL IN ATTENDANCE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY OF BEAVER COUNTY.
WE OFFER 21 BREAKOUT SESSIONS FOR PARTICIPANTS PARTICIPANTS TO CHOOSE FROM TWO, WHICH WERE BREAKOUT SESSIONS FOR OUR STUDENTS.
WE OFFERED THREE TOURS, TOURING, HISTORICAL LANDMARKS AROUND YOU FOR KELLY.
WE HAD SIX STUDENTS PERFORMANCES, 17 STUDENTS FROM BATTERY CREEK CULINARY ARTS PROGRAM, HELP TO PREPARE A DELICIOUS LUNCH ON FRIDAY 31, PEOPLE PARTICIPATED IN A DEBRIEF ON YESTERDAY 110 ATTENDEES WITH AN OPEN SURVEY, UH, COMPLETED A SURVEY AS OF TODAY, PARTICIPANTS WHO COMPLETED THE SURVEY RESPONDED TO ONE QUESTION THAT WE ASKED, WHAT SPECIFICALLY DID YOU LEARN FROM THE CONFERENCE? AND HERE ARE FOUR DIRECT CALLS.
I LEARNED THE HISTORY OF CHECKLISTS AND THE SECRET SERVICE ON THE MONTFORT POINT, MARINES IN PORTLAND BEING RELATIVELY NEW TO THE AREA.
I FOUND ALL ASPECTS OF THIS CONFERENCE, TREMENDOUSLY EDUCATIONAL.
AND THEN I SPECIFICALLY LEARNED A LOT ABOUT THE HISTORY OF AFRICAN AMERICANS IN THIS AREA AND THE RICH CULTURE OF THE GOLDEN CIRCLE.
I LIVED HERE ALL MY LIFE AND I DIDN'T KNOW THE SIGNIFICANCE OF MICHAEL C, ROB WHITE QUOTE.
I LEARNED A GREAT DEAL ABOUT THE SPECIFIC STORIES.
SO THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN EXPERIENCES DURING IT'S LIKE IT'S LATE IN THE CIVIL WAR AND RECONSTRUCTION.
I EXPERIENCED THESE STORIES THROUGH VISUAL ARTS LECTURES AND PERFORMANCES.
[01:25:01]
I LEARNED ABOUT MANY RESOURCES, HUMID AND HISTORICAL THAT ARE AVAILABLE IN YOU FOR COUNT.I WITNESSED THE GREAT PASSION OF THE NATIVE FAMILIES OF THESE STORIES TO BE TOLD.
I REALIZED THAT THERE IS SO MUCH MORE FOR ME TO LEARN ABOUT THE HISTORY OF BUFORD SO THAT I CAN SHARE COMPLETE AND ACCURATE.
THESE WERE ONLY A FEW EXAMPLES OF WHAT ATTENDINGS TO LEARN AT OUR FIRST ANNUAL AFRICAN AMERICAN EDUCATION CONFERENCE, AS WE LEARNED, WE'VE GROWN AND AS WE ARE ABLE, AND THEN WE'RE ABLE TO BUILD THE PAST THESE EDUCATORS, WHICH IN TURNS, IF IT'S ALL STUDENTS THAT WE SERVE, AS A REMINDER, ONE OF THE GOALS FOR THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION IS TO ASSIST IN PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY RESOURCES TO APPROPRIATELY CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY.
WELL, IN MY PROFESSIONAL OPINION, YOU FOR COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT, BUT SHE, THAT GOAL THAT WERE 18, I WOULD LIKE TO LEAVE YOU WITH A B I KNOW THERE'S NOT A BOWL, BUT HOPEFULLY WE'LL SEE EVERYONE NEXT YEAR.
CAMPBELL, NEXT ITEM IS A FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY ON AND I, UH, AND ATTENDED A HEAD, A TOWN COUNCIL WORKSHOP AND HAD A CHANCE TO , UH, WITH, UH, AS DR. RODRIGUEZ MENTIONED, UH, WE HAVE A GREAT CONVERSATION.
UH, THE THREE OF US HAD A GREAT CONVERSATION WITH THE STAFF, UH, EXCUSE ME, UH, HILTON HEAD COUNTY COUNCIL, UM, ERIC GREENWAY AS WELL WAS THERE AND, UH, ACTIVELY WAS JUST MADE IT IN THE SESSION.
UM, WE PROVIDED SORT OF A BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON IMPACT FEES JUST TO REITERATE THE PURPOSE OF WHY WE'RE COMING FORWARD AND POSING, UM, AND ADVOCATING FOR SOCIAL IMPACT PAGE FOR BEAVER COUNTY, UH, AS WELL AS FINANCIAL IMPACTS AND A CAPITAL PROJECT THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN ACCOMPLISHED AND BEING PLANNED FOR THE FUTURE.
SO, UM, BASICALLY EVERYTHING THAT'S IN THE IMPACT, THE STUDY.
SO THEY'VE ALREADY BEEN GIVEN, UM, AND YOU AREN'T TO CB.
AND SO JUST SUMMARIZING THAT INFORMATION AND THEN JUST REITERATING A COUPLE OF MAIN POINTS THAT WERE OF INTEREST TO THE, AND WHICH ALL WOULD BE, UM, USEFUL FOR, FOR THEIR INPUT IN THEIR DISCUSSION.
UH, PARTICULARLY, UH, THE FACTS OF THE STUDY HAVING BEEN COMPLETED, UH, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH COUNTY AND THEN ALSO ANY UPDATES TO THE STUDY WOULD BE REQUIRED WITHIN THE FIVE-YEAR PERIOD AND THAT SORT OF THING.
SO, UM, HER DISCUSSION WAS THERE WAS SOME GREAT CONVERSATION, GREAT QUESTIONS WE THINK SORT OF CAME IN THE MIDDLE OF A, AN AFFORDABLE HOUSING CONVERSATION.
SO THAT WAS REALLY THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE SESSION WE HAD.
UH, THEY'RE VERY CONCERNED, AS YOU CAN UNDERSTAND, UM, LIVING IN THIS AREA, UM, THE, THE IMPACT OF, UH, OF, FOR THE NEED, FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN THAT AREA, UM, HAVING PEOPLE LIVE AND WORK ON THE ISLAND, UH, AND WE FELT IT, UH, FIRSTHAND HAVING DRIVEN AT 8, 8 30
[01:30:01]
IN THE MORNING, WE WERE AGAIN ON A CLOCK.SO YOU CAN IMAGINE WHAT THE CROWD WAS LIKE COMING FROM ONE OF YOUR COUNTY ALL THE WAY THERE, WHICH TOOK QUITE A WHILE.
SO I COMPLETELY UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT NEEDING TO ACTUALLY WORK ON THE LEFT ON GAVIN IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO WORK TIMELY AND, AND THAT SORT OF THING, UM, WITHOUT THE EXTRA, THE ADDED TIME ON THE ROAD.
SO TRAFFIC IS DEFINITELY A COURSE TO BE REPRESENTED IN THAT AREA.
ANOTHER MAJOR AREA THAT THEY SAW THIS TIME WAS WHAT OTHER ALTERNATIVES DO WE HAVE? ONE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS IMPROVEMENTS IN OUR COUNTY AND SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN SOUTH CAROLINA ARE VERY LIMITED ON WHAT THEY CAN DO.
UM, WE DON'T RECEIVE STATE FUNDING AS YOU KNOW, UM, BUT WE ARE LINKED INTO THE 8% CAPACITY AND THE REFERENDUM FUNDING POOL.
UM, SO THAT WAS VERY INTERESTING.
WE MENTIONED THAT A FEW TIMES AND CONTINUE TO HAVE DISCUSSIONS ON THAT.
AND THEN OVERALL, WE JUST TALKED ABOUT THE GOALS OF, UM, UH, BALANCING THE FUNDING SOURCES THAT IMPACT PIECE WOULD HELP TO BENEFIT, UH, AND POTENTIALLY, UH, OFFSET SOME OF THE TAX POTENTIAL TAX INCREASES THAT MAYBE BE FOR FUTURE PROJECTS.
UM, UH, WE OF COURSE STUFF AGAIN, IT WAS A WORK SESSION.
AND SO WE ANTICIPATE THAT THEY'LL WORK.
IT WOULD BE ON A FUTURE AGENDA, THE HILTON KENT COUNTY COUNCIL MEETINGS IN THE SAME EVENINGS OF HOURS AS KUBRICK COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS.
AND SO I'M GOING TO SAY, WE'LL BE LOOKING FOR ON THE MARKET BOUTIQUEY AND SEE IF IT MAY BE ON THE AGENDA AT THAT POINT IN TIME.
UH, AND THEN WE'LL BE ALSO LOOKING AT A TON OF LOVE AND SEE WHEN THEIR TEACHING NEEDS TO BE AS WELL.
SO, UM, ALL, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? SO I WILL THROW MY EXTRA SENTENCES UP.
I THINK THE ISSUE IS CONFUSING.
UM, I THINK THAT'S A FALSE FLAG IF YOU'RE PUTTING UP, UM, TWO SEPARATE ISSUES.
I DISAGREE ABOUT AFFORDABLE HOUSING, UM, BECAUSE I DO THINK THAT THAT'S, IS THERE ANY WAY, LIKE THEY JUST HAD AN ARTICLE OUT OF A PACKET ABOUT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY AND THE HOUSING THEY'RE TRYING TO BUILD THE IMPACT TO THE NEW HOMES IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD OF $10,000 PER HOUSE IS I THINK MAYBE BY THE PAY TO SUPPORT A DICTATION, I THINK, IS THERE ANY WAY TO EXEMPT PROFITS HABITAT FOR HUMANITY? UM, ANYTHING ELSE THAT WE DESIGNATE AS WORKFORCE HOUSING? CAUSE ONE OF THE CONCERNS I HAVE, YOU HAVE TO INCREASE DENSITY, UM, AT $5,000 A WEEK, THAT'S, THAT'S A SUBSTANTIAL, UH, DETERRENT.
SO I KNOW THAT THERE ARE THREE MAJOR APARTMENT COMPLEXES GOING ON, RIGHT ON ONE 70, RIGHT AT THE BORDER OF WITHIN BUFORD CITY LIMITS.
UM, AND SO BECAUSE BUFORD IS NOT PART OF THAT, I GUESS THE UNINCORPORATED COUNTY IS IF THEY DID IT ON THE UNINCORPORATED CANDY, THEY WOULD GIVE ME A PACK FEE.
BUT IF THEY DO IT IN THE CITY THAT YOU'VE HEARD THAT THAT'S NOT AN IMPACT FEE, IS THAT RIGHT? THE SERVICE AREA COVERS EVERY PROPERTY, UM, EXCUSE ME, SOUTH OF THE WRONG PERSON.
THAT WOULD BE AN IMPACT, EVEN THOSE ONES.
AND I'M NOT CERTAIN, THAT'S NOT AN INCENTIVE FOR SOME OF THESE DEVELOPERS TO PUT UP A NEW HOUSING COMPLEX AND APARTMENT GNOSIS RIGHT ON EDGE OF THAT AREA.
UH, TEACHERS ARE LIVING THERE.
AND I ALSO THINK THAT, YOU KNOW, I READ AN ARTICLE THAT SAID, UM, BY THE TIME YOU PAY THE MORTGAGE PAYMENTS, CAUSE MOST OF THESE PEOPLE IN AFFORDABLE HOUSING ARE GOING TO HAVE MORTGAGES SUBSTANTIAL WORK, WHICH IS A LOW DOWN PAYMENTS, BUT THEY WILL END UP PAYING TRIPLE THE AMOUNT OF THE IMPACT FEE BY THE TIME THE MORTGAGE IS PAID OFF.
SO I CAN TELL YOU THAT AS SOMEONE ON HEALTHCARE, THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING THING IS VERY MUCH, SIR.
I THINK MOST FOLKS DON'T HAVE A LOT OF, TO WORK WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT, BUT I THINK IT'S SOMETHING WE NEED TO THINK ABOUT IN THE PRESS AND COME UP WITH SOME PLANS WITH WHATSAPP.
I DON'T THINK IT'S A FALSE FLAG OUT.
UM, THERE WAS ACTUALLY SOME SESSION.
UM, SO GREENWAY MENTIONED THERE IS SOME FUNDING THAT IS AVAILABLE TO SUPPORT WORKFORCE HOUSING AND THAT HE COULD BE EVEN BE IN FURTHER DISCUSSIONS WITH COUNCIL TO OFFER SOME POTENTIAL FUNDING OPTIONS.
UM, THE FEE HAS, MUST BE PROVIDED A HUNDRED PERCENT CHEAP SCHOOL DISTRICT, BUT CAN BE FUNDED, UH, THROUGH A TOWN, DECIDED TO DISCOUNT THAT FEE.
THEN THE COUNTY COULD PUT MONEY TO MAKE IT FULL AND MAPLE TO THE DISTRICT.
[01:35:01]
ARE OFTEN FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES OUTSIDE.UM, AND THERE ARE THINGS IN THE WORKS, UH, ESPECIALLY IN WORKS THERE.
YEAH, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE HEARING THAT ARGUMENTS COMING UP AGAIN, VERY ACTIVE IN THAT AREA.
SO I THINK YOU'LL BE VERY, YES SIR.
I DEFINITELY DO AGREE, ESPECIALLY ON THE SIDE OF OUR CONCERN, THAT WHAT WE'RE CALLING THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING AFFORDABLE HOUSE AND NOT ONLY ARE THEY NOT AFFORDABLE HOUSES, THE PEOPLE WHO LIVED THERE WHO AFFIRMED IT, BUT THEY'RE NOT ONLY IN FOREIGN PART OF WHAT WE FACULTY, STAFF AND PEOPLE WHO TEACH HERE AS WELL.
UM, SO I THINK THAT THAT WHOLE CONVERSATION ON AFFORDABLE HOUSING IS COMPENSATION THAT HAS TO BE DEEP IN, IT HAS TO BE A CLEAR PICTURE.
WHAT EXACTLY WHAT IS A FORMAL OUTCOME? BECAUSE TOO MANY TIMES WE KICKED THE WORD IN THE REST OF THE VERSES THAT KEEP THE WORD OUT ABOUT HOW HE PROBABLY ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO.
AND THERE WAS A BUNCH OF RELIGION HAS TO HAVE A MEETING AND BE FOR CATEGORY.
WE'LL TALK ABOUT PARTNERING ON THAT TIME WITH AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
AND I AM HERE TO TELL YOU THAT WHAT THING WAS SAYING THAT AFFORDABLE HOUSING WAS, WAS NOT FOR AWHILE.
AND SO IT CONCERNED ME WHEN WE JUMPED BEHIND THINGS.
AND YOU SAID THAT THERE ARE AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND IT'S NOT REAL AFFORDABLE.
WHERE WHAT, WHY AND HOW SO THE DON'T HAVE OTHER QUESTIONS THAT GO ALONG WITH IT.
I HOPE THAT WHEN WE KIND OF COME FORWARD THAT THEY'RE WILLING TO FIND THAT , ESPECIALLY IF THEY BROKE SOMETHING IN TERMS OF TEACHERS OR TEACHERS WHO ARE ASKING FOR SO THEY CAN AFFORD TO TEACH.
SO I JUST WANT TO BE CLEAR ON WHAT WE CONSIDER AS AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
OTHER OTHER MATTERS WE'RE SEEING, CAN YOU SEE THE DECREASE IN FOR LAST WEEK, LAST WEEK, ONE POSITIVE STAFF CASE NINE POSITIVE CASES.
UH, WE CONTINUE TO REVIEW EACH LITTLE DAILY.
LOOKING AT SCHOOL BY SCHOOL IS GOING TO BE INCREASINGLY IMPORTANT AS WE WANT.
UH, AS YOU KNOW, YOU HAD CHANGED THEIR CRITERIA ON THE STORE CHILDCARE EXCLUSION LIST.
ONCE AGAIN, STATING THIS TIME THAT MARCH 1ST SCHOOL DISTRICTS OUT QUARANTINING A LESS THAN 10% OF THEIR STUDENTS AND SAT ON THE WAY SHE TESTED POSITIVE.
THEY STATED THAT THE SCHOOL HAD 10% OR MORE OF HER STUDENTS IS THAT POPULATION BOTHERED OR TWO CAN SAY FORWARD THAT SCHOOL WOULD BE UNSAFE THEIR SCHOOL EXCLUSION CRITERIA.
AND THAT INCLUDES SICK, OR THIS WOULD BE DONE ON A SCHOOL BY SCHOOL BASIS.
THE BUFORD COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS MET THAT CRITERIA.
YOU CAN EVERY SCHOOL AS WELL, NO LONGER BE QUARANTINED OR CONTACT TRACY EXCLUSION CRITERIA UNLESS IN PARTICULAR SCHOOL AS 10% OR MORE OF THE STUDENT AND STAFF BOBBING ISSUE TESTING, THAT'S THE POSITIVE OR CONSECUTIVE WE'RE BUSINESS ACTION
[Board Business Action]
APPROVAL OF THE 20 22, 20 23 DRY PRESENTATION.THE BOARD MEMBERS THIS EVENING.
I AGREED TO GO WITH E TWO BARRELS
[01:40:01]
IN 22, 2023 GRAD SCHOOL CALENDAR.THE CALENDAR PROCESS STARTED IN EARLY NOVEMBER AND HAS HAD COLLABORATIVE INPUT FROM MY DIVERSE GROUP OF STAKEHOLDERS.
THIS INCLUDED DISTRICT PERSONNEL FROM INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES, DIRECTORS, COORDINATORS, MEMBERS OF THE FINANCE AND HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENTS, SENIOR STAFF, ADDITIONALLY FOCUSED GROUPS FROM SCHOOL SITE, ADMINISTRATORS AND SCHOOL PERSONNEL WERE INCLUDED INCLUDING THE SCHOOL CALENDAR PROVISIONS OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA CODE OF LAWS, TITLE 59 SLASH ONE SLASH 4 25.
EDUCATION CODE AS, AS IS FOLLOWING ALL SCHOOL ARE REQUIRED TO ESTABLISH A CALENDAR FOR ABOUT 190 DAYS, WHICH WE MUST'VE BUILT A MINIMUM 180 DAYS OF INSTRUCTION COVERING AT LEAST NINE MONTHS, AT LEAST THREE, THREE DAYS TO BE USED AS MAKE-UP DAYS AND THREE SCHEDULED DAYS.
HE THE CALL COLLEGIAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, NO MORE THAN TWO DAYS.
MAYBE YOU USE FOR PREPARATION OF OPENING OF SCHOOLS AND THE REMAINING FIVE DAYS MAYBE USE FOR TEACHER PLANNING, ACADEMIC PLANS AND PARENT CONFERENCES FOR A TOTAL OF 10 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DATES, ALL SCHOOL DISTRICTS, INCLUDING THOSE APPROVED AS E-LEARNING DISTRICTS IN THE ER IN PILOT PROJECT MUST INCLUDE RESCHEDULED WEATHER MAKE-UP DAYS.
PLEASE KNOW THAT WE ARE WITHIN THAT PILOT BEGINNING WITH THE 2007, 2008 SCHOOL YEAR.
THE OPENING DATE OF STUDENTS MUST NOT BE BEFORE THE THIRD, MONDAY IN ALL TO LAB MEMBERS OF EACH FOCUS GROUP SHARED ADDITIONAL SUGGESTED CALENDAR CRITERIA, DISTRIBUTION OF PROFESSIONAL DAYS THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR WITH THE ADDING OF TWO KEY DAYS AT THE START OF THE SECOND SEMESTER PLACEMENT OF HALF DAYS AT THE END OF THE MARKETING QUARTER AND LAST DAY OF SCHOOL.
AND IN THE FIRST SEMESTER AT WINTER BREAK VETERAN'S DAY AS A HOLIDAY FOR WHOLE BCSC EMPLOYEES, CONSIDERATION OF SHORT RATES THROUGHOUT THE ACADEMIC SCHOOL YEAR PROVISION OF ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT BASED THE WEB FOR SCHOOL AND SCHOOL YEAR AND WITHIN THE SEMESTER DESIGNING A SUMMER SCHOOL WITHIN THE MONTH OF JUNE TO ADD TO THESE CONSIDERATIONS ON THE FOLLOWING POINTS, HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, EARLY GRADUATION STUDENTS AFTER DUAL ENROLLMENT OR EARLY COLLEGE ENTRANCES DEMOCRA JANUARY.
ADDITIONALLY, THE POINT OF STUDENTS IN MID JANUARY TO THE MILITARY NOTED THE DIFFERENCE OF DAYS WITHIN A SEMESTER THAT CODED A STEADY REQUIREMENT OF 180 STUDENT CONTACT DAYS.
I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE ALSO THAT FOR FALL SCORES OF STUDENTS PASSING THE END OF COURSE, EXAMINATIONS OR EXCEEDED BY THE SPRING DATA.
SO A LOT OF THESE IDEAS, I DO WANT TO PRESENT YOU TO 2022 AND 2023 BCSC ACADEMIC CALENDAR THANKING THE CISCO.
INVARIABLY, YOU COULD BRING THAT UP.
YOU SHOULD HAVE TWO DOCUMENTS.
ONE IS A WORD DOCUMENT THAT WOULD'VE GIVEN YOU SIMILARITIES.
I'VE ACTUALLY GIVEN THAT TO YOU IN THE NARRATION.
AND IF YOU'D LIKE TO HAVE A WALK WITH A CALENDAR THAT IS UP ON SCREEN, AND THIS TIME THE PREFERRED CALENDAR, WE LOOK AT THEM ON THE WALL ALLOWS FOR THE FIRST WEEK OF AUGUST THREE DAYS.
SO WE ARE SEEKING TO DO A SUMMER INSTITUTE THAT IS JUST THERE AS AN FYI.
IF WE LOOK AT AUGUST STATE, THAT WOULD BE THE FIRST TEACHER CONTACT DAY WITHIN THE SCHOOLS.
TWO OF THOSE DAYS WOULD BE TO BE GIVEN TO OUR TEACHERS FOR PREPARATION AS LEGISLATION SHARES.
FIRST DAY OF THE STUDENT CONDUCT CONTACT WOULD BE AUGUST 15.
IF YOU TURN THE PAGE TO THE NEXT MONTH, WE WILL LOOK TO SEE THAT IS IT GENERAL MONTHLY.
IF WE LOOK AT TOBAR 20 SEC COBAR, WE HAVE A HALF DAY ON THE 14TH AT THE END OF THE FIRST QUARTER WITH THE PROVISION OF THE 17TH OF OCTOBER AS A DAY, OR FOR EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS, EVEN DENVER, WE HAVE VETERANS SAY ON YOUR 11TH HOLIDAY BREAK FOR THANKSGIVING, WE'LL START ON THAT WEDNESDAY STUDENTS WHERE YOU TRACK ON THE 28TH
[01:45:02]
IN THE ONE THAT YOU SUMMER LOOKING AT THE 19TH AND 20TH ARE YOU CALL IT HOLIDAY, RIGHT? THOSE WERE IDENTIFIED AS MAKEUP WEATHER DAYS.AND AGAIN, YOU QUALIFY TO BE A VIRTUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR THAT TO HAPPEN, NOT FACE TO FACE, BUT ACTUALLY UTILIZATION OF ZOOM JANUARY.
AND I HAVE TO LIKE PAUSE JANUARY OF 2023.
WE HAVE TWO CONFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAYS AS OUR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS RETURN.
I'M GOING TO HAVE ME FOR THE FIRST TWO DAYS, WE'LL OUT PV.
THEN WE HAVE STUDENTS WHO ARE TRAINED ON THAT FEBRUARY, 2023.
WE HAVE THE 10 BALL, WHICH IS A FRIDAY.
WE'RE TRYING TO ALIGN THE WORK THAT I'VE COMPLETED AND NOT GOING TO KEEP TO IDENTIFY THIS WEEKEND.
NEXT UP, HOW MANY AFRICAN AMERICAN EDUCATORS CONFERENCE HERE IN NEWTON COUNTY LOOK AT THE NINTH OF THAT BECAUSE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR FIELD EXPERIENCE AND FIELD TRIPS ARE BRINGING MORE OF OUR STUDENTS AS A SIGN OF COMPETENCE IN YOUR COMING ACADEMIC SCHOOL YEAR.
THAT OPPORTUNITY OF MORE INTEGRATION OF OUR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS, THE 20TH IS A FEDERAL HOLIDAY, BUT FEBRUARY THAT'LL BE READY ONTO THE MONTH OF MARCH.
WE CLOSED SOME ARMY HERE BECAUSE THIRD MARKING PERIOD WOULD HAVE ALLOWED FOR PARENT CONFERENCES.
WELL FOR EDUCATORS DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL, WE HAVE ONE MORE WEATHER DAY FOR MEDA.
PLEASE KNOW THAT APRIL 7TH IS THE FRIDAY.
STUDENTS WILL RETURN AT THAT HOLIDAY BREAK ON THE 17TH OF APRIL.
AND I DO WANT US TO RECOGNIZE IT THE MONTH OF MAY.
WE'RE 20 DAYS FROM THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL, A STUDENT CONTACT OR TEACHERS THAT IS THE LATEST AND VARIABLE TO START OUR STANDARDIZED TESTING.
AND THE MONTH OF JUNE IS SELF-EXPLANATORY AND I'M HALF DAY.
AND THEN SHE PDAS WITH CLOSING OUT OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR SCHOOL.
UM, MR. FOR ANY ADDITIONAL, BUT HE'S TRYING TO GET A HUNDRED AND MAYBE TOO MANY TYPES OF DEATH.
THAT'S WHY I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS.
ANY QUESTIONS I DO? I JUST WANT TO SERIOUSLY THANK YOU FOR THIS CALENDAR YEAR, OUR DOORS TO GET MORE TEACHERS AND STUDENTS AND FAMILIES THAT, UM, OCTOBER AND MARCH, JUST ONE DAY TO AGREE, TO IMPROVE, TO TAKE A REALLY DEEP BREATH.
UM, AND I HAD THE BEST DENTAL WATER SCORE.
UM, OUR STAFF AND STUDENTS RESHAPING IN FEBRUARY.
WE HAVE NORMAL BLOOD CONFERENCE BECAUSE I DEFINITELY DON'T LEARN THAT CONFERENCE OR CONFERENCE.
THAT'S A CONCERN OF MINE TOO, MRS. PERIOD, THE WORK THAT I DID LOOKING BACKWARDS, I WENT BACKWARDS MAPPING IT'S JUST SAID IT APPEARS THAT OUR CONFERENCE WAS SOUTH CAROLINA BULLS THAT HAD THEIR WEEKEND IN FEBRUARY.
SO THAT'S WHY THEN WE'LL BLEND THAT OPPORTUNITY TO BREASTS.
THEY HAD NOT PUBLISH IT OR GATES, BUT I'VE BEEN BACK A FEW YEARS ON THEIR LITERATURE.
I DID LEAVE SOME BEDROOM, SIR.
I UNDERSTAND WHY YOU WANT TO STOP BEFORE THE HOLIDAY.
AND I DON'T THINK THAT'S AN ARGUMENT WE HAVE TO STOP, BUT A COUPLE OF MONTHS
[01:50:01]
AGO, YOU ALL CAME TO US AND TOLD US ABOUT THE IMPACT OF SEAT TIME AND STUDENT ABSENCES ON ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT.YOU SAID, IF YOU'RE NOT IN CLASS, YOU DON'T COME TO SCHOOL, YOUR PERFORMANCE SUFFERS AND YOU HAVE DATA TO PROVE THAT.
AND SO HERE WE HAVE A SEMESTER, THE FIRST SEMESTER WITH SIX ABSENCES, UM, TO ME, ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IS OUR FIRST PRIORITY.
AND I UNDERSTAND ALL THE ISSUES ABOUT START TIMES AND SO ON.
I UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE, UH, CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE, WANTING TO HAVE OUR KIDS WORKING SO THAT WE CAN SUPPORT INDUSTRY AND TOURISM IN THIS COUNTY.
I FIND THAT VERY DIFFICULT TO ACCEPT AS BEING VALID.
THAT SEEMS TO ME IS, WELL, THAT'S THE WAY IT'S ALWAYS BEEN.
AND THAT'S THE WAY IT'S ALWAYS GOING.
THE HIGH POINT OF THE TOURIST SEASON IS TOO HOT.
I HAVE TWO GRANTS THAT WORK IN THE SUMMER AND WORK AS LIFEGUARDS AND WEREN'T GETTING PARASITES.
THEY'VE WORKED AT THE COUNTY THEY WORK AT THE MAYBES ISLAND, GOTTEN SAVED.
THEY WORK AND THEY STOP WORKING.
WHEN SCHOOL STARTS, THEY WORK AFTER SCHOOL.
THEY DON'T WORK DURING SCHOOL BECAUSE OF KIDS ARE NOT AT THE SCHOOL.
AND I, I, I REALLY WANT US TO TAKE THEM GO STRONG FOR NEXT YEAR.
AND I REALIZED THE ALL YEAR ROUND SCHOOLING HAS A LOT OF HOOPS TO GO THROUGH, TO MAKE HAT, BUT JASPER COUNTY IS DOING IT BECAUSE JASPER COUNTY THINKS THAT ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IS IMPROVED BY YEAR-ROUND SCHOOLS.
I THINK YOU SAID, AND I UNDERSTAND IT TAKES TALKING TO STAKEHOLDERS SO LONG TO MAKE SURE THAT WE KNOW WHAT WE'RE GETTING INTO, WHAT THE IMPACT ACADEMIC ACHIEVING 90 DAYS IN THE FIRST SEMESTER OF 90 DAYS IN THE SECOND MONTH I TALKED TO GRANTS SAID, OKAY, US FIRST SEMESTER, COMPARED TO SECOND SEMESTER, VERSUS THIS IS A LOT HARDER.
THEY CRAM MORE IN SECOND SEMESTER.
NOT SO BAD, ACTUALLY KIND OF LIKE THAT BECAUSE LIKE THEY HAVE THE TIMES ON SPRING, BUT ACADEMIC G SO I'M, I'M CERTAINLY GOING TO BONE TO APPROVE THIS.
I'M NOT GOING TO SAY BECAUSE IT'S TOO LATE TO CHANGE.
AND I REALIZED THERE'S A WHOLE LOT OF COORDINATION THAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE AN ALTERNATIVE VIABLE.
AND WHAT WE'VE SAID THIS LAST TWO YEARS AS WELL, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE PERSONALLY, A LITTLE MORE EFFORT INTO LOOKING AT HOW WE'VE IMBALANCED TO SEMESTER.
AND I THINK THAT IT CAN BE DONE IF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IS OUR TOP PRIORITY, WE'RE NOT HAVE BECAUSE THE STUDENTS I KNOW ON THIS SIDE, I WENT OVER AND APPLY.
[01:55:02]
TO HERE BEFORE.AND YOU'RE CHALLENGED EARLIER.
UM, MARY RODRIGUEZ, HOW'D YOU TO BELIEVE SHE FEEL THE AGGREGATE IS.
AND I WOULD LIKE YOU TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAYBE EXPLAIN TO THE WHOLE TEAM OF HAVING A 90 DAY MANDATED BY THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA IS NOT START STUDENTS.
AND WE KNOW THAT THE TESTING SHOULD GO TO THE WINTER BREAK AND WE KNOW THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE ON FOUR BY FOUR.
SO COULD YOU JUST SPEAK TO THAT A LITTLE BIT BEFORE WE SHARE ANY NARRATIVE, WE TRY TO BE ALIGNED WITH WHAT THE SAFE MODE SHE IS WITH YOUNGER.
WE RECOGNIZE THAT STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT IS A BANK, MONEY, MYSELF, SUPERINTENDENT, OUR TEAM AND OUR EDUCATORS, OUR HANDS OR HELL WHAT THE LEGISLATION SAYS THAT CAN BE OUR STUDENT CONTENT DAY OR FOCUS.
WE'VE SEEN THAT CONVERSATION ON POINTS.
INVITAE COLONEL DYER, AS WELL AS, UH, MR. CAMPBELL.
AND I'M LOOKING AT ALTERNATE CALENDAR IN CONVERSATION WITH OUR FOCUS GROUPS.
WE RECOGNIZE THAT IT IS MORE THAN JUST THIS CONVERSATION AND WATER POINTS OF CONSIDERATION AT THE SESSION THE SESSION CAME UP ON ATHLETICS.
WHAT WOULD BE INTENTIONAL IMPACT? THE SESSION CAME UP ON ALIGNMENT IN ORDER TO MEET SOME OF OUR JANUARY DATA.
IT'S A LITTLE LARGER THAN JUST HAVE ANY IMMEDIACY THAT YOU FOCUS.
SO I DO WANT TO SHARE THAT CONVERSATION HAS HAPPENED.
SO WE WERE WATCHING IT ENOUGH BULL THERE, AND I AM NOT MAKING ANY, THAT COVID WAS A GOOD THING, BUT WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE THAT OUR LOCAL UNIVERSITIES WORK WITH US IN GAMES, TRIMESTER MODEL.
THAT IS NOT AN OPPORTUNITY RIGHT NOW.
SO DUAL ENROLLMENT STARTING THAT THE SECOND WEEK OF JANUARY, SINCE WE STARTED WITH CALENDARS, WE MUST DEAL WITH ALSO OUR LOCAL UNIVERSITIES AND HOW YOU EVOLVE STUDENTS.
WE DO ALLOW OUR STUDENTS STUDENTS WERE RATHER SUCCESSFUL MY SON AGAIN, VERY TIME WITHOUT THE CAMPUS NEEDS OF STUDENTS.
SO CONVERSATIONS THAT STARTED, HOWEVER, WE ALL AROUND HER AS STRANGE TO WHAT IS ACTUALLY WRITTEN IN THE WALL THAT IS KIND OF, OH, SORRY.
UM, LET ME JUST START BY SAYING, UM, I DEFINITELY WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU STAFF FOR TAKING THE TIME OUT TO YOU.
I KNOW THAT THIS EVERY YEAR, THIS IS DEFINITELY A TOUGH DECISION ON THE BOARD AND ALSO, UM, UM, YOUR STAFF WITH YOU AS WELL, BECAUSE SOMETIMES YOU DO DEFINITELY GET INTO SOME , YOU KNOW, WHEN I HEAR YOU BREAK DOWN WHAT YOU GOING TO DRINK DOWN NOW ON THE DECK, OUT THE DOWNFALL OF MY DECISIONS, BUT, UH, TO BE QUICK, AND THAT'S A SOLID, WHAT'S IT BE OPTION A AND WHICH I CAN TALK, YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN, I'M SURE YOU HAVE A WRITTEN DOWN, YOU JUST HAVE A LOOK AND THIS IS WHERE THE TEAMS ARE STRONG BEFORE.
SO WE GOT YOUR REPRESENTATION, MY TEACHING FORUM, SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT.
WE DID A FULL WORKSHOP, SO YES .
[02:00:01]
I'M DEFINITELY AND I WILL SUPPORT YOU SO THAT WE CAN GET EDUCATIONAL PROCESSES.MAYBE WE CAN GET IT TO BE ROLE MODEL AND GET THINGS DONE.
SO I WOULD DEFINITELY SUPPORT THIS.
I APPRECIATE THE WORD, THE JOB DONE, AND IS DEFINITELY A TELL THEM CITIZENS.
I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE HOW THIS, HOW THIS NEW MODEL WILL WORK.
SHE TELLS ME TO STAY WITH IT THAT'S WHILE YOU STAY WITH ONE SO THAT WE CAN ACTUALLY SEE LEVERAGE WORKING OVER THIS UM,
[Consent Agenda]
I'LL SECOND, THE MOTION[Future Agenda Topics]
THANK YOU.IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT IF THE BOARD FINDS IN AN ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATION VIOLATION OF POLICY, THAT THE WAR CAN HAVE THE BOARD LOOK AT THE ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATION.
IS THAT CORRECT? IF, IF A MEMBER OF THE BOARD FINDS AN AR TO BE IN VIOLATION OR POLICY, IT IS LEGITIMATE TO BE REVIEWED BY THE BOARD.
CORRECT? SO I WOULD LIKE TO PUT ON THE AGENDA, OUR NEPOTISM VAR AS VIOLATION OF BOWIE 4.3.
I LIKE TO, UM, UH, THE AGENDA AGENDA AND POSSIBLE USE AS HER FUNDS BONUS OR, UM, PROBABLY, UM, PEOPLE THEY'RE NOT EDUCATED IF THEY CAN COME BACK TO THEIR SCHOOL AND STILL HAVE,
[Announcements]
UH, CLASS, THE LAST TWO GAMES HIGH SCHOOL.LISTEN, I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE, UM, YOU GOTTA BE ATMOSPHERE.
