UM, A LOT OF WORK IN THOSE MINUTES.

THANK YOU FOR THAT, ROBERT.

UM, I DO HAVE ONE POINT OF DISCUSSION.

THERE WERE A COUPLE OF THINGS ON THOSE MINUTES THAT I MADE NOTE OF THAT WE SAID WE WANTED TO CIRCLE BACK AND HAVE PRESENTATIONS TO THE FULL BOARD ON THE VIRTUAL JOB SHADOWING SPECIAL ED COORDINATION AND THE WORK-BASED LEARNING.

SO I WILL, UM, GET WITH DR.

STRATOSE AND SEE, UM, AND PERHAPS THAT'S GOING TO BE IN A, UH, KATE PRESENTATION SOON, BUT I DON'T WANT TO LOSE SIGHT OF THOSE THREE THINGS.

THE DECEMBER 13TH, 2021 MINUTE MEETING SIGNIFY BY SAYING AYE.

AYE.

THANK YOU.

3 0 1.

OKAY.

SO NOW WE GET TO THE, THE REAL WORK OF TODAY'S MEETING AND THAT IS AN UPDATE ON THE PROFILE OF BUFORD COUNTY GRADUATE.

I KNOW THAT DR.

STRATOSE HAS A TEAM OF PEOPLE THAT ARE GOING TO, UH, TALK ABOUT THIS.

UM, AND I WANT TO INTRODUCE MS. MCKINSEY TO US AND NOT REFER TO ANYONE ELSE HERE TO, TO HELP, UH, HER, BUT DR.

STRAUSS, I TURNED IT OVER TO YOU.

OKAY.

THANK YOU.

THIS IS BY AND I GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.

I DO HAVE THE HONOR OF INTRODUCING KAREN MCKINSEY.

SHE IS OUR DIRECTOR FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING SECONDARY.

UM, SHE HAS ACTUALLY PICKED UP AND WORK ON THIS FROM WHERE JERRY HENDERSON HAD CROSSED OVER BACK INTO STUDENT SERVICES.

KAREN'S GOING TO BRING FORWARD SOME INITIATIVES THAT HAVE CONTINUED THE CONTINUED WORK, AND ALSO SHOW HOW THIS INITIATIVE IS INTEGRATING WITH AN UPCOMING LARGER EVENT STARTING ON FEBRUARY 18TH.

UM, THE HOSTING OF OUR AFRICAN-AMERICAN CONFERENCE THAT HAS BEEN REALLY IS A SIGNIFICANT PART AS WELL OF THE PD THAT YOU'LL GET A TOUCH OF IN THIS AND A LITTLE DEEPER INFORMATION OF ACTUALLY HOW WE'RE EMBEDDING WOULD WORK WITH THE STATE AS WELL.

SO WITH THAT, MRS. MCKINSEY.

OKAY.

THANK YOU, DR.

STRATUS, AND THANK YOU BOARD MEMBERS FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE WITH YOU TODAY.

I'M REALLY EXCITED WHERE WE ARE, UM, WITH THE PROFILE OF THE BUFORD COUNTY GRADUATE.

AND I'M JUST GOING TO SHARE SOME OF THE EARLIER COMPONENTS AND THEN I'LL SHARE THE WORK THAT WE'VE DONE UP TO THIS POINT, MS. CHRISTIAN BARRY, COULD YOU GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE? THANK YOU.

SO OUR OVERALL GOAL WHEN THIS WAS, WAS ASKED OF US IS REALLY TO WORK WITH OUR SCHOOLS, TO RECOGNIZE OUR GRADUATES WITH DIGNITY, RESPECT, AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.

SO THOSE ARE THOSE OVERARCHING GOALS THAT WE HAD TO GO TO.

THE NEXT SLIDE HAS PUSHED ME.

YOU CAN THINK, DAMN ROBIN CAN GO UP ONE MORE.

THERE YOU GO.

AND THOSE FOUR PILLARS, JUST TO REMIND YOU, EACH PILLAR HAS, UM, DIFFERENT COMPONENTS WITHIN IT, BUT OUR FOUR PILLARS ARE GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE, WHICH YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR A GOOD BIT ABOUT TODAY.

FINANCIAL LITERACY AND ECO LITERACY, WHICH YOU'RE ALSO GOING TO HEAR ABOUT TODAY.

YOU COULD GO TO THAT NEXT SLIDE.

THANK YOU.

SO WHERE ARE WE NOW? WHAT'S OUR CURRENT STATUS.

WE ARE CURRENTLY IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF UNITS OF STUDY AND WE ARE WORKING TO DEVELOP THOSE AT ALL LEVELS TO ALIGN WITH THE TOPICS OF OUR PROFILE.

AND WE'RE ALSO WORKING TO ALIGN THOSE WITH OUR STANDARDS.

OF COURSE.

SO OUR INITIAL UNITS, WE ARE HOPING TO HAVE COMPLETED AND READY FOR THE 2223 SCHOOL YEAR SHOW.

I WANT TO SHARE AN EXAMPLE OF THAT WITH YOU.

SO HERE'S THE FIRST PORTION OF AN EXAMPLE OF AN ELEMENTARY UNIT.

THIS IS CALLED LOW COUNTRY LIVING PROJECT.

THIS IS GOING TO FALL.

IF YOU LOOK DOWN AT THE NEXT ONE, YOU CAN SEE THAT THIS IS A FOURTH GRADE UNIT.

IT'S GOING TO FALL UNDER KNOWLEDGE OF THE LOW COUNTRY SYSTEM.

YOU CAN STAY MS. KASHA BERRY ON THAT ONE.

THANK YOU.

AND IF YOU LOOK, IT HAS DIFFERENT PROJECTS AND BECAUSE THIS IS FOURTH GRADE, WE HAVE ALIGNED ELA AND SOCIAL STUDIES.

SO THE PROJECT THAT WILL BE COMING OUT OF THOSE TWO CLASS ASSESSMENTS OR FORMATIVE WILL BE A LOW COUNTRY, ENVIRONMENTAL POSTER.

IF YOU LOOK OVER AT SCIENCE AND MATH, THEY'RE DOING A SYMMETRICAL PIECE AROUND 2D AND 3D HABITATS.

THE STANDARDS ARE LISTED.

UM, STANDARDS ARE PRETTY STRAIGHTFORWARD IN ELA JUST TO CLARIFY THAT SIO UNDER SOCIAL STUDIES MEANS COMPARISON.

SO THE STUDENTS ARE GOING TO HAVE TO IDENTIFY SOME THINGS AND BE ABLE TO SEE DIFFERENCES.

AND THEN OF COURSE, MATH AND SCIENCE, THE ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS ARE AT THE BOTTOM THERE.

AND THOSE ARE JUST SOMETHING TO KIND OF HELP GEAR OUR STUDENTS TOWARDS.

WHAT DO WE WANT YOU TO BE ABLE TO ANSWER AT THE END OF THIS UNIT? CAUSE CAUSE YOU HERE, IF YOU GO TO THE NEXT ONE, SO THIS IS THE SECOND PAGE OF THAT UNIT.

AND I'M JUST GOING TO TELL YOU, THESE UNITS ARE PRETTY LENGTHY FOR OUR TEACHERS BECAUSE WE WANT TO GIVE THEM ALL THE RESOURCES WE CAN, BUT I JUST PULLED SIGNIFICANCE OUT.

SO YOU GUYS COULD SEE THE DIRECTION WE'RE HEADING THE COMPLETED PROJECT.

AGAIN, THAT'S ALIGNING THE ELA AND SOCIAL STUDIES AND THE MATH AND SCIENCE.

[00:10:01]

YOU SEE THE OBJECTIVES OF THE I CAN STATEMENT.

SO UNDER ELA IT SAYS I CAN CREATE A POSTER THAT EXPLAINS THE CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF POPULATION GROWTH WITHIN THE LOW COUNTRY ENVIRONMENT.

SO STUDENTS ARE GOING TO BE DIGGING INTO THOSE RESOURCES IN THAT CLASS TO BE ABLE TO ANSWER THAT I CAN STATEMENT AND THAT'S ACROSS THE BOARD, OUR ASSESSMENTS ARE GOING TO BE THOSE ORIGINAL PROJECTS.

SO WE'RE GOING BACK UP TO THAT POSTER.

WE DON'T WANT TO RECREATE THE WHEEL.

WE WANT TO EVALUATE WHAT WE'RE TEACHING.

UM, SO WE WENT BACK TO THAT.

I DO NOTE AND I APOLOGIZE THAT THE RUBRICS ARE STILL PENDING.

UM, THAT'S KIND OF AN INTENTIONAL HOLDS OFF.

WE WANT TO GET ALL OF OUR ELEMENTARY UNITS DONE AND THEN DEVELOP SOME CONSISTENT, CONSISTENT RUBRICS.

SO THAT TEACHERS AREN'T CONSTANTLY TEACHING A CHILD, A RUBRIC RUBRIC, THEY WERE TEACHING THE ACTUAL CONTENT.

SO THOSE RUBRICS WILL BE COMING SOON.

AND THEN WE HAVE FORMATIVE CHECKPOINTS AT OUR ELEMENTARY LEVEL.

SO THOSE TEACHERS WILL BE CHECKING IN AFTER THEY READ THE ARTICLE, AFTER THE STUDENTS DO THEIR RESEARCH.

AFTER THE POSTER IS LAID OUT BEFORE THE FINAL WORK HAS COME, THIS BEGAN, UM, THAT IS KIND OF GIVES US THOSE FORMATIVE CHECKS FOR UNDERSTANDING ALONG THE WAY.

SO THAT'S ONE OF OUR ELEMENTARY UNITS.

AND OF COURSE IT GOES AROUND ECOSYSTEMS. I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS ONE SONG WAS HOT.

I CAN TELL YOU MYSELF.

UM, I KNOW THAT SOME OF YOU HAVE BEEN INTEGRAL IN HELPING US GETTING THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY EDUCATION CONFERENCE UNDERWAY.

THIS IS PART OF THAT.

AND PART OF OUR PROFILE, WE ARE WORKING WITH THE MATHER SCHOOL AND THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO SHOWCASE, UM, THAT SCHOOL ALONG WITH OUR STUDENTS, UH, RISE AND SHINE IS WHAT WE'RE CALLING THIS DOCUMENT INQUIRY PROJECT.

THIS IS BEING DEVELOPED BY MEGAN HUTTOE, WHO IS A TEACHER AT ONE OF OUR SCHOOLS.

AND WHAT I ASKED HER TO DO IS WE WERE GIVEN THE LETTERS FROM THE MATHER SCHOOL.

AND I SAID, I WANT YOU TO TAKE THESE LETTERS AND START PUTTING IT IN A FORMAT THAT OUR KIDS CAN REALLY LEARN ABOUT MRS. MATHER, THE MATHER SCHOOL AND THE PEOPLE THAT IT SERVED, UM, THROUGH AN INQUIRY TYPE PROJECTS.

IT'S OUR SOCIAL STUDIES STANDARDS HAVE MOVED TO INQUIRY.

IF YOU'LL NOTICE THERE'S A PICTURE OF MS. MATHER THERE THERE'S THAT QUOTE.

I CAN NOT TELL YOU WHAT A RISE AND SHINE MEANS, BUT IF YOU COME TO THE CONFERENCE, YOU WILL HEAR THE STORY BEHIND THAT.

I THINK YOU'LL, I THINK YOU'LL FIND IT AS INTERESTING AS WE DID DBQ IS, ARE SET UP IN A VERY SPECIFIC WAY.

THEY HAVE THAT TITLE THAT KIDS ARE GOING, WHAT DOES ARISE AND SHINE MEAN THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT IN.

THAT MAKES THEM THINK BELOW THE HOOD.

THAT IS ALWAYS A VISUAL.

SO IT'S A PICTURE OF, IS MATTER BELOW THAT AS A QUOTE THAT SHE STATED ABOUT HERSELF AND WHAT PEOPLE THOUGHT OF HER.

SO THE STUDENTS ARE GOING TO START TO THINK, OKAY, WHAT DOES THIS QUOTE MEAN? HOW DOES IT PLAY INTO THIS PERSON THAT WE'RE LEARNING ABOUT? THE SECOND LITTLE PAGE OVER HERE THAT I PUT IS THE LETTERS OF, UM, MS. RACHEL CRIME MATHER.

THE UNTOLD STORY GOES ALONG WITH OUR CONFERENCE.

AND THEN THE QUESTION THAT STUDENTS ARE GOING TO BE ANSWERING AS THEY REVIEW THESE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY DOCUMENTS IS WHAT IS MS. MATHERS DEFINING LEGACY.

IMMEDIATELY, KIDS ARE GOING TO GO, OH, IT'S THE SCHOOL.

IT WAS THE SCHOOL.

BUT WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SOURCES, IT COULD BE ONE OF A MYRIAD OF LEGACIES THAT SHE'D LEFT ROBIN.

IF YOU'LL GO TO THE NEXT, THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF ONE OF THE PRIMARY SOURCE DOCUMENTS THAT WE OBTAINED OUTSIDE OF THE MATHER SCHOOL LETTERS THAT THEY PROVIDED.

THIS WAS PROVIDED BY THE COURTESY OF THE BEAVER COUNTY LIBRARY.

WE HAVE ALSO REACHED OUT, UM, MS. MATHER HAD A LOT OF INFLUENCE IN CHICAGO AND A COUPLE OTHER AREAS.

SO WE HAVE REACHED OUT FOR THOSE RESOURCES AS WELL.

ONCE WE GET THOSE, WE WILL BE INFUSING THEM INTO THIS.

SO THE STUDENTS ARE GOING TO READ THE ACTUAL LETTERS THAT WERE WRITTEN BACK AND FORTH.

UM, THEY'RE GOING TO SEE NEWSPAPER ARTICLES, THINGS LIKE THAT FROM THE TIME PERIOD.

SO GO AHEAD, MS. CHRISTIAN BERRY.

SO THAT WAS OUR TWO GREAT UNITS.

I THINK THAT WE'VE STARTED, UM, ONE FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL, ONE FOR ELEMENTARY.

SO WE'RE WORKING ON THE GAMUT ACROSS THE SPAN.

UM, ANOTHER THING THAT WE REALLY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON IS WHAT ARE SOME LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES AND TRIPS THAT CAN HELP TO FOSTER THESE SKILLS THAT WE'RE TEACHING THROUGH THE PROFILE AND CONNECT WITH OUR STANDARDS AS WELL.

SO WE'VE LOOKED AT COURSE THAT AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY EDUCATION CONFERENCE, UH, WHICH I DO HOPE YOU ALL ATTEND.

IT IS GOING BE MAGNIFICENT.

UM, THE MATHER SCHOOL, ONE OF OUR PARTNERS, THE PENN CENTER, THE BUFORD HISTORY MUSEUM, UM,

[00:15:01]

THE SOUTH CAROLINA MUSEUM DOES A COLLECTION.

THAT'S VERY SPECIFIC FOR OUR AREA.

SO I'VE ASKED FOR TIME PERIODS WHERE THAT COLLECTION WILL BE SHOWCASED, UM, ECONOMICS COUNCIL CONTEST.

WE'RE ALREADY WORKING WITH A LOT OF THESE AND THE ECONOMICS COUNCIL CONTEST AT SIX SAMPLE.

OUR, UM, KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS JUST DID A FEED, THE PIG CONTEST OF THE ECONOMICS COUNCIL ABOUT HOW DO YOU MANAGE YOUR PIGGY BANK AND WHY DO YOU PUT THE MONEY IN THERE? SO WE'RE BUILDING THAT FINANCIAL LITERACY, VERY YOUNG.

SOMEBODY SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT FOR ME.

I'M JUST SAYING, UM, THERE MARITIME CENTER MUSEUM, THEY HAVE ALREADY PRODUCED FOR US A HUGE COLLECTION, UM, OF ZOOMS, UH, ZOOMS IS WHAT WE'RE CALLING THEM.

AND THOSE ARE CURRENTLY BEING USED AS WE BUILD OUR RIVER WORDS, UM, PUBLICATION FOR THIS YEAR, OUR SCIENCE TEACHERS ARE ALREADY ABLE TO USE THAT RESOURCE, WHICH IS VERY, VERY SPECIFIC TO OUR AREA.

UM, COASTAL DISCOVERY, MUSEUM, VIRTUAL FIELD TRIPS.

WE WERE COMING OUT WITH A BANK OF THOSE.

I'M HOPING THAT WE ALWAYS DON'T HAVE TO THINK VIRTUAL, BUT JUST IN CASE.

AND, UM, ONE THING THAT I'VE KNOW A WAY THAT THEY'VE BEEN USED ALREADY IS WITH SOME OF OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS, THAT IT'S, IT'S MORE DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO GET OUT.

WE'RE ABLE TO BRING THAT EXPERIENCE TO THEM.

UM, GUEST SPEAKERS AND VIRTUAL FIELD TRIPS.

OF COURSE, I'M JUST GOING TO SAY ONE OF OUR GREAT GUEST SPEAKERS THAT WE HAVE PRETTY CONSISTENTLY.

I THINK A LOT OF US KNOW HER BY THE NAME OF INDEED APPRAISER, BUT A LOT OF US KNOW HER IS PEARLY SU.

UM, SHE IS A FAVORITE AND MOST OF OUR SCHOOLS, MS. CUSHION BEARING NOW PROFESSIONAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES.

SO MANY OF OUR TEACHERS COME INTO THIS AREA FROM OTHER AREAS.

SO IT'S VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE EDUCATE THEM ABOUT THE AREA THAT WE LIVE IN THAT AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY EDUCATION CONFERENCE REALLY HAS A HUGE TIME SET OF POWER ON FRIDAY FOR OUR TEACHERS, AS WELL AS COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND YOU, UM, TO GO THROUGH THOSE SESSIONS AND TO LEARN ONE OF THOSE SESSIONS WILL BE THAT DBQ ABOUT MRS. MATHER.

SO WHAT WE'LL BE DOING IN THAT IS WE'LL BE TEACHING THE HISTORY AND THE PROCESS OF INQUIRY.

UM, AGAIN, LOOKING AT THE MARITIME CENTER IN DISCOVERY MUSEUM, THEY'RE DOING A LOT OF THINGS FOR OUR TEACHERS, AS FAR AS GEARING TOWARDS HOW THEY CAN LEARN MORE ABOUT THE ECOSYSTEM OF OUR AREA.

I'VE REACHED OUT TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA COUNCIL AND ASK THEM TO GIVE US ANYTHING SPECIFIC THAT THEY HAVE THAT MIGHT GO ALONG WITH US.

AND ONE THAT I PULLED OUT FOR FEBRUARY, THAT SOME OF OUR TEACHERS ARE LOOKING INTO IS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA CENTER, UM, CIVIL RIGHTS, HISTORY AND RESEARCH.

AND IT'S ABOUT PRESERVING HISTORY, UM, IN PLACES OF HISTORY WITHIN THE CLASSROOM.

SO KIND OF TEACHING STUDENTS HOW TO PRESERVE THAT HISTORY OF THE AREA THEY LIVE IN.

AND I THOUGHT THAT IS SPOT ON FOR WHERE WE'RE HEADING IN BEAVER COUNTY.

SO I WAS EXCITED ABOUT THAT ONE.

AND THEN AGAIN, THAT HISTORY TOUR, AND WE'RE REALLY HOPING WE HAD ONE PLANNED FOR THIS YEAR, UNFORTUNATELY, BECAUSE OF THE NEEDS, UM, WRAPPED AROUND SOME OF THE COVID ISSUES.

WE WEREN'T ABLE TO DO IT, BUT WE WOULD LIKE TO START TAKING OUR NEW TEACHERS TO THE AREA ON A TOUR WITH AUNT PEARLY SOUP.

SHE CAN KIND OF SHOW THEM SOME OF THE AREAS AROUND, UM, OUR COMMUNITY, ESPECIALLY HERE IN BUFORD AND NEXT THIS CAUSE THERE YOU GO.

SO HOW ARE WE GOING TO DO THIS? WHAT ARE OUR NEXT STEPS? WE'RE STILL GOING TO BE BUILDING THESE.

THIS IS NOT AN OVERNIGHT PROCESS.

SO WE GOT A LONG WAY TO CONTINUE WORKING.

MATTER OF FACT, I HOPE WE NEVER DO.

I HOPE WE ARE ALWAYS ADDING TO THIS BANK OF RESOURCES FOR OUR TEACHERS, BUT WE DO HAVE SOME NEXT STEPS OUTLINED.

WE WANT TO SHARE THIS WITH OUR TEACHERS AT THE SUMMER INSTITUTE, WHICH WILL BE IN AUGUST.

WE ALSO WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY PRINCIPAL HAS THIS INFORMATION, SO WE WILL BE SHARING IT TOWARD A PRINCIPALS MEETING.

AND AT THAT TIME WE WILL PROVIDE THEM WITH A PRESENTATION THAT'S KIND OF A CONSISTENT ROLLOUT SO THAT ALL SCHOOLS ARE KIND OF HEARING IT THE SAME WAY.

UM, AT THAT TIME WE'LL ALSO BE SHARING THE PROFILE ON OUR WEBPAGE AND YOU'LL PROBABLY SEE IT ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

IT IS KIND OF UNIQUE FOR SOUTH CAROLINA TO HAVE FOR OUR DISTRICT TO HAVE THAT.

SO YOU'LL PROBABLY SEE A GOOD BIT OF IT.

AND THEN WE DO PLAN NEXT YEAR.

THERE ARE JUST GREAT THAT IT WORKED OUT THIS WAY THROUGH THE FOUR PILLARS, BUT UNDERNEATH THOSE FOUR PILLARS ARE DIFFERENT AREAS.

TOTAL, THERE ARE NINE.

SO PEOPLE GO AHEAD, MS. KUSH AND BARRY, YOU LOOK AT

[00:20:01]

THIS, WE MAY START OUR YEAR WITH ONE OF THESE, BUT EACH MONTH WE WILL SHOWCASE ONE OF THE COMPONENTS OF THE PILLARS.

I'M REALLY HOPING THAT MAYBE WE CAN DO AGENT OF CHANGE IN MAY, SO WE CAN KIND OF BEEF UP OUR HIGH SCHOOL AND LET THEM TAKE A LEAD IN THAT.

NOW THAT YOU'RE GRADUATING IS THAT BUFORD COUNTY GRADUATE.

HOW ARE YOU GOING TO GO OUT AND BE THAT AGENT OF CHANGE IN OUR COMMUNITY? SO THAT'S KIND OF WHERE WE'VE BEEN WORKING AND I APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE WITH YOU WHAT WE'VE DONE TO THIS POINT.

OKAY.

UH, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE PRESENTATION.

I'M AMAZED.

UM, I WASN'T REALLY THINKING YOU ALL WERE GOING TO BE DEVELOPING UNITS OF STUDY TO SUPPORT, UH, THESE EXPECTATIONS.

I THAT'S A LOT OF WORK AND I COMMEND YOU FOR THAT.

UM, AND I THINK BY, BY DOING THESE UNITS OF STUDY AND MAKING THEM, UM, YOU KNOW, UH, THAT THEY HAVE TO DO THEM, THAT THEY'RE THEIR REQUIREMENT, THAT IT WILL HELP OUR STUDENTS GET WHAT THEY NEED.

SO MR. STRINGER, YOUR HAND IS UP.

UM, THANK YOU, MADAM CHAIR.

UM, I HAVE GOT SOME OF YOUR THOUGHTS.

THIS IS SO COMPREHENSIVE.

IT'S UH, IT'S JUST SO REFRESHING TO SEE THIS.

MY ORIGINAL THOUGHT WAS, I DIDN'T WANT ANY BODY TO GRADUATE FROM OUR SCHOOL THAT DIDN'T KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT GULLAH, GEECHEE, HISTORY, ART, AND CULTURE.

THAT WAS REALLY NARROW.

YOU ALL HAVE TAKEN IT A LOT OF, A LOT OF OTHER PLACES WHERE IT BELONGS.

AND I THINK THIS IS UNIQUE IN SOUTH CAROLINA, AND I THINK YOU'VE DONE A HECK OF A JOB, UM, YOU KNOW, BLOCKING IT ALL OUT, GOT A GOOD PLAN.

I'M JUST SO IMPRESSED, UM, WHICH I DON'T STAY VERY OFTEN.

SO, YOU KNOW, THAT'S UNUSUAL TO HEAR ME SAY THAT.

UH, BUT I REALLY AM IMPRESSED.

THIS IS ONE OF THE RIGHT DIRECTION AND IN SCORING AT A REALLY GOOD SPEED.

I JUST CAN'T.

THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR THIS.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHERE WE WANT TO GO.

THANKS.

THANK YOU, MR. TRAVEL SHARE WITH THE TEAM.

THANK YOU, MR. MAL CAMPBELL.

I I'M GONNA COPY THE PREVIOUS TWO.

SPEAKERS ARE SAYING THAT I NEVER INTENDED FOR IT TO GO INTO SUCH A DEEP DIVE TRENDSETTER PROFILE.

I SEE THAT AS YOU GUYS ARE LAYING OUT THE UNIT AND DIRECTING ALL OF THE FINER POINTS OF WHAT I EXPECTED WHEN I, I, WHEN I OFFERED THE PROFILE, I INTENDED SOMETHING THAT DAVID WAS ALLUDING TO.

THERE ARE JUST CERTAIN ELEMENTS OF THE HISTORY AND THE PHYSICALITY OF THE COUNTY THAT A GRADUATE WOULD BE FAMILIAR WITH.

I DON'T, YOU KNOW, AND I SEE THAT, THAT YOU GUYS WOULD MADE IT WORK.

I DIDN'T WANT IT TO BE THIS MUCH WORK FOR YOU.

I JUST WANTED IT TO BE SOMETHING LIKE THE HIGHLIGHT OR THE MATH SCHOOL.

THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN ENOUGH FOR OTHERS TO DIVE INTO FINDING OUT WHO MISS MATH, WHO WASN'T HER, YOU KNOW, HISTORY, BUT I, YOU KNOW, I'M NOT GOING TO HOLD YOU BACK BECAUSE I'M SURE THERE'S GOING TO BE, YOU KNOW, FANTASTIC IF YOU CARRY ON FOR YEARS, IF, IF IT'S LAID OUT BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT LEAVING ANYTHING AT CHANCE FOR THE TEACHERS, YOU'RE MAKING IT WHERE THEY HAVE, THEY'LL VERY MUCH DIRECTIVE AND THE APPROACH, THE OUTCOME HAS TO BE, YOU KNOW, A CERTAIN STANDARD THAT'S EXPECTED TO BE SUPPORTED.

SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I THINK YOU'RE DONE A WONDERFUL JOB WITH THIS.

THANK YOU, MR. CAMPBELL, COLONEL GUYER.

THANK YOU.

I'D LIKE TO ECHO EVERYTHING THAT'S BEEN SAID SO FAR AND ADD ONE ADDITIONAL THING.

I ATTENDED, UH, EVERY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL, A BRIEFING WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT, EVERYONE OF THOSE HIGH SCHOOLS SAID FINANCIAL LITERACY IS A URGENT REQUIREMENT.

THEY WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT CHECKBOOKS.

THEY WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT DEBIT CARDS AND CREDIT CARDS.

THEY WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR, UH, NOT JUST COLLEGE EDUCATION, BUT FOR VOCATIONAL EDUCATION, PELL GRANTS AND SO ON.

THAT'S A REAL IMMEDIATE THING THAT A GRADUATE NEEDS

[00:25:01]

TO LEARN, LEAN LEARN AND LEAVE OUR SCHOOL, HAVING SOME KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO DEAL WITH THE FINANCIAL CHALLENGES THAT WE ALL LEARNED, THE HARD WAY AND THE SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS.

WE NEED TO GIVE THAT SCHOOL AND THE SCHOOL OF GOOD KNOCKS AT BUFORD COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT.

SO I'M, I'M GREG.

I'M GLAD TO SEE THE FINANCIAL LITERACY ON AND, UH, AND THE HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE, THE GLOBAL SIS, UH, CITIZENSHIP IS IMPORTANT.

AND OF COURSE THE CLIMATE CHANGE AND ALL THE ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES IN THIS COUNTY AND SO IMPORTANT THAT WE HAVE AN INFORMED CITIZENSHIP TO KEEP OUR ECOLOGY SOUND.

SO THIS IS JUST GREAT, GREAT STUFF.

I COMMEND YOU FOR IT.

THANK YOU.

OKAY.

UH, MS. MIDDLETON, I DON'T SEE YOUR HAND.

DID YOU WANT TO CHIME IN AT ALL? OH, IT IS NOW.

YES.

I WANT TO ECHO EVERYONE ELSE.

YOU ALL HAVE DONE A FINE, HAVE DONE A FINE JOB.

YOU'VE LAID THE FOUNDATION FOR OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS THAT ARE NOT DOING THIS TO FOLLOW.

AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE IN A YEAR IN TWO YEARS IN THREE YEARS, UM, BUFORD COUNTY, WE'RE WE'RE TRENDSETTERS HERE YOU ARE, YOU ALL ARE SETTING THE PACE.

YOU YOU'RE AT THE HEAD OF THE PACK.

AND, AND THANK YOU FOR DOING THAT FOR OUR STUDENTS.

UM, WHEN WE WERE IN OUR, UH, AGENDA SETTING MEETING, I ANTICIPATED THAT THIS SAME PRESENTATION, UM, AS PART OF THE ACADEMIC COMMITTEE AT THE FEBRUARY WARY FIRST, UM, MEETING SHOULD BE INCLUDED.

UM, HOW DO MY OTHER COMMITTEE MEMBERS FEEL ABOUT THIS AND JUST CHIME IN, IF YOU HAVE ANY, ANY THOUGHTS ABOUT AGREE, IT SHOULD BE PRESENTED.

I THINK IT WOULD BE GREAT TO COME TO THE FULL BOARD.

YEAH, ABSOLUTELY.

I THINK, YOU KNOW, WE NEED THE OTHER BOARD MEMBERS TO REALIZE WHAT AN OUTSTANDING JOB IS FOLKS ARE DOING AND, YOU KNOW, MAYBE GAIN SOME LIGHT ON WHERE WE PLAN THIS TO GO.

I THINK WE ALL NEED TO NOTICE, SO THAT WOULD BE THE TIME.

OKAY.

SO IT IS ON THE AGENDA AT THIS POINT AS PART OF THE ACADEMIC COMMITTEE REPORT.

SO DR.

STRATOSE JUST THE HEADS UP.

WE ARE LISTENING EAGERLY AND I'M BOARD MEMBERS.

THANK YOU FOR RECOGNIZING THE WORLD.

THIS HAS BEEN CHUNKED BROKEN DOWN AND PLANNED OUT TO BE WHAT WE DO AT BUFORD COUNTY.

I THINK THAT'S THE CLEANEST WAY OF ME SAYING IT.

THIS IS A PART OF WHO WE ARE AND WHO WE WILL.

WE WILL CONTINUE IT BEING, IT'S NOT JUST SOMETHING CREATED TO MEET A COMPLIANCE OF EMOTION.

I HAVE TO SAY THANK YOU TO THE BOARD MEMBERS FOR PUSHING FORWARD SO THAT WE HAVE OUR GRADUATES UNDERSTAND THE STEPS OF WHERE WE ARE.

AND I THANK YOU.

AND I KNOW KAREN'S LIKE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

OKAY.

EXCELLENT.

ALL RIGHT.

SO MOVING FORWARD, THE NEXT ITEM ON THE AGENDA, MR. MELVIN CAMPBELL'S HANDS ARE, I WAS JUST GLAD TO COMMENT THAT.

I THINK DR.

STRATUS ALLUDED TO IT.

THIS IS FAR REACHING OUT.

IT'S GOT TO CREATE A TEMPLATED, YOU KNOW, PART OF OUR EDUCATION AND BUFORD COUNTY.

AND IT'S, I THINK IT'S GONNA LAST, AND IT'S GONNA HELP THE EDUCATORS COMING IN WHEN THEY LOOK AT THOSE CURRICULUMS AND SEE THOSE COMPONENTS, LEARNERS, HAVING TO TAKE THEM TO THESE PLACES.

NOW THEY EMAIL, YOU KNOW, BECOME PROACTIVE AND VOLUNTEER TO DO SOME OF THOSE SPOTS IT BEFORE PROBABLY SUE AFTER TAKE THEM.

AND, YOU KNOW, HOPEFULLY I THINK IT GIVES THEM A MUCH BETTER UNDERSTANDING AND KNOWLEDGE OF OUR DISTRICT THEN, AND MAKE THEM A LOT BETTER.

EDUCATORS.

THANK YOU.

SORRY, MEL.

I DIDN'T SEE YOUR HAND.

ALL RIGHT.

THAT'S OKAY.

I DIDN'T MIND.

I WAS GOING TO SAY IT LATER ANYWAY.

OKAY.

ALL RIGHT.

ANY OTHER COMMENTS BEFORE MOVE FORWARD? UH, LET'S SEE.

MEL, DID YOU JUST PUT YOUR HAND? OKAY.

GOT IT.

OKAY.

ALL RIGHT, DR.

STRATOSE WE WILL MOVE FORWARD WITH THE UPDATE ON THE M M P GRANT.

SO ONCE AGAIN, BOARD MEMBERS, I HAVE A GREAT PRIVILEGE OF INTRODUCING ANOTHER MEMBER OF OUR

[00:30:01]

DIVISION HERE AT INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES.

AS YOU CAN RECALL, GOING BACK TO 2020, UM, WHEN IN APRIL, WHEN WE PRESENTED THE GRANT IDEA, WE RECEIVED THE GRANT.

AND AT THAT POINT, WE WERE ABLE TO START ON THE PROCESS OF HIRING.

UM, WE WROTE THE GRANT, THE TOOK OVER A YEAR, BUT THE DEPARTMENT OF ED, US DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO GO THROUGH THEIR PROCESS, WE WERE NOTIFIED LAST MAY.

I WANT TO SAY MAY SIX, ACTUALLY IT WAS A BOARD EVENING THAT WE RECEIVED THE NOTIFICATION OF RECEIPT OF GRANTEE.

FROM THAT POINT, WE STARTED OUR PROCESS OF LOOKING TO ONBOARD PERSONNEL.

UM, V APPLEBY COMES TO US FROM YEARS OF EDUCATION BACKGROUND, WORKING FROM THE STATE AND LOCALLY HERE AT BATEASE ISLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL.

UM, IT IS A GREAT PLEASURE THAT I BRING HER FORWARD FOR THE FIRST TIME THAT SHE GETS TO MEET EACH OF YOU AS WELL.

MRS. APPLEBEE, I CAN JOT THE STRATUS AND THANK YOU BOARD MEMBERS FOR HAVING ME TODAY.

UH, I WANTED TO GIVE YOU AN OVERVIEW OF WHAT THE MED TECHS PROJECT IS.

THAT'S THE NAME OF THE GRANT, AND THIS IS CONSIDERED TO BE AN INSET GRANT, WHICH IS A MAGNET SCHOOL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.

IF WE CAN GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE, EUPHORIC COUNTIES, UH, INFOGRAPHIC, THIS DATA WAS PULLED FROM EIGHT, UH, 2018 19 WHEN THE GRANT WAS WRITTEN.

UM, I'M NOT SURE IF YOU CAN ZOOM IN ON THAT A LITTLE BIT.

ARE, DOES EVERYBODY HAVE A COPY OF THIS SO THEY CAN SEE IT? YEAH.

OKAY.

JUST CHECKING MY FIRST TIME, BEAR WITH ME, BUT YOU CAN SEE THE SEVEN SCHOOLS THAT WE'VE LISTED IN THIS, UH, INFOGRAPHIC, AS WELL AS THESE ARE THE SCHOOLS WE'LL BE WORKING WITH THE EMTEK SEVEN PROJECT, UH, BUFORD HIGH SCHOOL, MIDDLE LAYS ISLAND METAL AND MOSSY OAKS ARE CONSIDERED TO BE OUR MEDICAL THEMED PROGRAMS THAT WE'LL BE IMPLEMENTING.

AND THEN, WELL, GRANT ELEMENTARY, WELL, GRETCHEN MIDDLE OF WELL BRANCH HIGH SCHOOL, OUR TECHNOLOGY SLASH CYBERSECURITY IMPLEMENTATION AREAS.

AND YOU CAN SEE FROM THE DESCRIPTION THERE'S, THERE'S TWO, UM, TWO HIGH, THREE, THREE MIDDLE SCHOOLS, TWO HIGH SCHOOLS AND TWO ELEMENTARIES.

AND YOU CAN SEE THE DIFFERENT DEMOGRAPHICS THAT WAS ORIGINALLY PRESENTED IN THE GRANT IN ITSELF.

IF WE CAN GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

NOW, AGAIN, I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE THINGS WE DO HAVE A MEDICAL MAGNET THEME FOR OUR BEEF CLUSTER AND THE CYBERSECURITY MAGNET THING FOR OUR WELL-BRED CLUSTER.

BUT WITHIN BOTH OF THOSE, UM, THINGS, WE HAVE ARTS INTEGRATION AND STEAM.

WE ARE PLANNING ON EVERY SCHOOL, THIS LISTED WITHIN THIS GRANT TO BE STEM CERTIFIED.

THAT IS PART OF THE PROCESS HERE.

IF THEY'VE ALREADY BEEN STEM CERTIFIED, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY STAY STEM CERTIFIED THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS.

AND FOR YEARS TO COME, ARTS INTEGRATION IS INCLUDED OVER EVERY ONE OF THESE SCHOOLS.

SO WE WILL HAVE A TIMEFRAME WHERE WE'RE IMPLEMENTING OUR ARTS STARTING, AND IT GOES THROUGHOUT THE GRANT PROCESS.

AND THEN WE'LL SLOWLY IMPLEMENT IN THE HEALTH AND THE MEDICAL AND THE, AND THE CYBERSECURITY MAGNET.

YOU CAN SEE THE GRANT WAS AWARDED FROM APRIL 1ST, AND IT WILL GO THROUGH MARCH 31ST, 2026.

THERE MAY BE AN ADDITIONAL YEAR ADDED DUE TO COVID ISSUES THAT WE'VE HAD THE FEDS ARE CURRENTLY TALKING ABOUT, BUT WE WILL NOT KNOW THAT UNTIL THAT TIMEFRAME COMES.

AND I KNOW YOU ALL ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE AMOUNT THAT WE RECEIVE.

WE USUALLY SAY 12.8 MILLION, BUT WE THERE'S THE ACTUAL AMOUNT THAT WE DID RECEIVE.

IT'S JUST THE LITTLE BIT EIDER, BUT, UH, WE LIKE TO SAY THE 12.8 MILLION, IT MAKES US FEEL GOOD AND IT MAKES US FEEL WE CAN DO A LOT WITH THE MONEY THAT WE HAVE RECEIVED.

NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

THIS IS OUR STAFF THAT WE'RE DEVELOPING.

NOW, WE HAVE MYSELF, I'M THEIR D APPLEBEE LEXIE.

LEE IS OUR NEW MARKETING COORDINATOR.

AND THEN THERE'S TWO OTHER ADDITIONAL POSITIONS THAT WE'RE CURRENTLY SEEKING AND INTERVIEWING FOR AT THE DISTRICT LEVEL.

THAT WILL BE AN IT COORDINATOR THAT WILL WORK DIRECTLY WITH THE WELL BRANCH CLUSTER TO HELP THEM COORDINATE AND CREATE CURRICULUM THAT IS GOOD FOR ALL LEVELS TO INFUSE THAT IT FOCUS IN THAT CYBERSECURITY AT EVERY GRADE LEVEL, SAME THING WITH THE MEDICAL COORDINATOR, THEY WILL BE WORKING WITH K THROUGH 12 AS WELL, AND THE, AND THE BUFORD CLUSTER TO HELP DEVELOP CURRICULUM THAT'S CURRENTLY OUT THERE THAT WILL HELP US FOCUS ON CREATING THESE CAREER PATHS FOR OUR STUDENTS.

UM, THEY GET A LITTLE BIT MORE AT AN ELEMENTARY.

THEY START WORKING WITH GENERAL HEALTH STUFF AND THE MIDDLE SCHOOL, THEY GET TO FOCUS ON MEDICAL DETECTIVES, FORENSIC STUFF.

AND THEN IN THE HIGH SCHOOL, UH, THESE STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO DO BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

[00:35:01]

AND ALL THE COURSES THAT WE CURRENTLY CANNOT IMPLEMENT AND DEVELOP CURRICULUM FOR AT THE SCHOOL LEVELS.

WE PUT IN THE GRANT THAT WE WILL HIRE, UH, TO MEDICAL THEME TEACHERS AND PAY FOR THOSE POSITIONS FOR, UM, BUFORD MIDDLE SCHOOL AND FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL AND THE MEDICAL CLUSTER.

AND FOR THE IT, THERE WILL BE AN IT MIDDLE SCHOOL, UH, TEACHER THERE.

AND I T CYBERSECURITY AT WILLOW BRANCH, EARLY COLLEGE, HIGH SCHOOL.

OKAY.

NEXT SLIDE BASED.

AND ONE HAS BEEN OUR PLANNING YEAR.

SO THIS YEAR WE'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET OUR STAFF ON BOARD, GET EVERYBODY HIRED.

YOU CAN SEE THAT WE HAVE OUR MANAGEMENT TEAM HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THE PRINCIPALS, GETTING THEM UP TO SPEED ON HOW WE'RE ACTUALLY GOING TO ROLL THIS OUT.

UM, WE'VE PROVIDED AN ORIENTATION TO ALL OF THEM, INTO THE TARGET SCHOOLS AND TALK TO OTHER SCHOOLS THAT MIGHT BE SENDING STUDENTS TO THESE SCHOOLS.

UH, WE PURCHASED LOTTERY SOFTWARE TO DO A SELECTION PROCESS THAT WE GET TO THE POINT WHERE THERE'S AN OVERWHELMING AMOUNT OF RESPONSE FOR STUDENTS GOING TO ATTEND THESE PARTICULAR SCHOOLS.

UH, WE'VE DEVELOPED OUR MAGNET PROGRAM RECRUITMENT AND MARKETING PLAN IS GETTING DEVELOPED NOW.

UM, BUT IT WILL, IT SHOULD BE IN PLACE.

WE'VE GOT OUR WEBSITE THAT WE'RE GETTING READY TO ROLL OUT.

WE'VE GOT MARKETING MATERIALS THAT WE'RE GOING TO DELIVER TO SCHOOLS.

WE'RE ASSISTING SCHOOLS, UM, WITH THEIR PROGRAMS THAT THEY HAVE AND MAKING NEW BROCHURES FOR THEM.

SO OUR MARKETING COORDINATORS WORKING DIRECTLY WITH THEM, UM, WE'RE DEVELOPING OUR TRANSPORTATION PLAN.

THAT'S NOT FOR A FEW YEARS DOWN THE ROAD.

WE'LL SEE.

AND WE HAVE STEAM ARTS INTEGRATED CAMP SET UP FOR FOURTH THROUGH EIGHTH GRADERS, AND THAT WILL BE RUNNING SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH CYSA THAT'S GOING ON IN JUNE.

UH, WE'RE ALSO GOING TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO OUR TEACHERS.

WE'RE GOING TO TRY TO DO THAT IN JUNE AS WELL.

AND AT SUMMER INSTITUTION, WHEN STUDENTS, WHEN THE TEACHER START BACK AND WE'RE STILL WORKING ON WITH OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS WITH FINDING OUT WHO'S GOING TO COLLABORATE WITH US, WE HAVE USCBP ON BOARD.

WE HAVE THE TECHNICAL COLLEGE ON BOARD.

WE HAVE SEVERAL PARTNERS OUT IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT HAVE SUPPORTED US, AND THEY ARE ALL LISTED WITHIN THE GRANT.

AND WE'RE JUST SETTING UP COMMUNICATION LAST TO OPEN UP THE FIELD, TO GET IDEAS AND SHARE RESOURCES FROM THEM.

NEXT SLIDE PLEASE.

SO THIS KIND OF GIVES YOU A BETTER IDEA OF THE ROLLOUT MODEL FOR YEAR ONE.

YOU'LL SEE, THAT'S OUR PLANNING YEAR.

THAT'S WHEN WE'RE GETTING EVERYTHING DONE.

NOW THAT THAT YEAR ENDS IN APRIL 1ST.

SO SECOND YEAR, UH, STARTING FOR THE NEXT NEW YEAR RELATED TO THE STUDENTS.

TEACHERS WILL BE ARTS INTEGRATION AT THE TARGET SCHOOLS FOR ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE THIRD YEAR, WE HAVE THE INCLUSION OF THE ARTISTS MIGRATION FOR THE ELEMENTARY MIDDLE, AND WE'LL START ADDING THE TECHNICAL THEMES SUCH AS THE MAGNET AND THE TECHNOLOGY START SECURITY AT THE ELEMENTARY.

AND THEN ALSO WE'LL START ROLLING OUT OUR PRE-MED BIOMEDICAL ACADEMIES REFERRED HIGH AND THE THREE TECHNICAL ACADEMIES AT THE, FOR, UH, I MEAN IT WILL BRANCH HIGH SCHOOL, EARLY COLLEGE YEAR FOR PRE-MED BIOMEDICAL ACADEMIES.

IT SHOULD BE IN FULL PLACE, 10TH GRADERS.

WE'RE TRYING TO FOLLOW THIS COHORT AND THEY DEVELOP AN ELEMENTARY AND THEY WANT TO MOVE TO MIDDLE FOR FINDING OUT WE'LL BE TRACKING WHO WILL BE ACTUALLY GOING AND CONTINUING ON WITH INTEREST IN THOSE PARTICULAR COURSES.

AND WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE GET THOSE COHORTS GOING INTO THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL SO THAT WE CAN ACTUALLY TALK WITH THE COLLEGES AND TECHNICAL SCHOOL TO CONTINUE ASSIST US WITH THAT COHORT AND MAKING THOSE CAREER FIELDS OF CHOICE FOR THOSE STUDENTS.

AND THEN IN THE LAST YEAR OF THE GRANT, WE'LL BE DEALING WITH OUR SENIORS AND FOLLOWING THEM ALONG, BUT EVERYTHING SHOULD BE FULLY IMPLEMENTED AT THAT TIME.

AND WE SHOULD HAVE SOME GREAT DATA THAT WE'RE ABLE TO SHARE OUT.

NEXT SLIDE.

SOME OF THE PROGRAMS THAT WE PURCHASED, THIS IS A MEMBERSHIP AND THIS IS GOING TO HELP, NOT JUST OUR SCHOOLS, BUT KAREN MCKINSEY.

AND I'VE TALKED ABOUT THIS WITH OUR ABC SCHOOLS.

AND WE HAVE, UH, PURCHASED A MEMBERSHIP THAT INCLUDES ARTS INTEGRATION AND STEAM DESIGN LESSON PLANS FOR, UH, FOR EVERY GRADE LEVEL, FROM K TO 12.

WE, WE, WE SHOWED THIS TO THE PRINCIPALS THAT WILL BE IN THIS, THIS PARTICULAR OF THE SEVEN SCHOOLS.

THEY LOVE THIS PROGRAM.

IT HAS K-12 LESSON PLANS ALREADY FULLY DEVELOPED.

IT HAS VIDEOS THAT GO IN EACH ONE OF THEM.

IT ALSO HAS WORKSHOPS FOR THE TEACHERS TO HELP THEM LEARN

[00:40:01]

AND HELP THEM DEVELOP THEIR OWN TYPES OF LESSON PLANS AND SHARE OUT HAS ONLINE COURSES FOR COLLEGE CREDIT OR FOR, FOR CERTIFICATION CREDIT FOR TEACHERS.

SO IT'S A FULL IN-HOUSE MEMBERSHIP THAT THESE TEACHERS WILL HAVE A SUPPORT FOR THEM AT THE ABC SCHOOLS AND OUR MAGNET SCHOOLS ARE BARBARA HYMNS AT SCHOOLS, AND THEY WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THIS THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE PROCESS AND HOPEFULLY TO CONTINUE ON AFTER FOR SUSTAINABILITY PURPOSES, OUR ARTS INTEGRATION, ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL, I'M SORRY, ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY, UH, ARTS COORDINATORS HERE WITHIN THE GRANT.

WE'LL BE SUPPORTING THE TEACHERS AT THE ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY LEVEL WITH IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS.

SORRY, IT MAKES LUCK.

I GET EXCITED.

SO TELL ME IF I NEED TO DISEASE SPACES.

THE NEXT THING THAT WE, UH, WE'VE PURCHASED FOR THE, UH, SEVEN SCHOOLS, AND YOU'VE NEVER SEEN Z SPACE, THESE SPACES AND AUGMENTED REALITY PROGRAM THAT ACTUALLY POPS THE STUFF OUT IN FRONT OF THE STUDENTS WHERE THEY CAN MANIPULATE EVERY PIECE.

IF YOU HAD THAT IN THE POWERPOINT, I MEAN THE SHORT VERSION, IT WAS SHOW YOU THE ENGINE MOVEMENT AND THE, AND THE HEART COMING OUT, AND THEY CAN ACTUALLY TAKE THAT AND OPEN IT UP TO THE VERY CENTER OF ANY OF THIS.

THIS WORKS FOR AUTO MECHANICS JUST WORKS FOR ANY AND HEALTH INDUSTRIES.

THIS WORKS FOR THE CYBER TECHNOLOGY, ENERGY, ENERGY INDUSTRIES, ANY KIND OF VISUAL DEVELOPMENT IS GREAT FOR KIDS.

SO THIS WILL BE SOMETHING THAT EACH OF THE STUDENTS THAT ARE PARTICIPATING AT LEAST SEVEN MAGNET SCHOOLS HAVE ACCESS TO THIS HAS SHOWN GREAT INTEREST.

IT'S GREAT KINESTHETIC LEARNING FOR YOUR STUDENTS.

AND THE TEACHERS HAVE JUST LOVED IT.

WE'VE SHARED THIS WITH THE PRINCIPALS AND SOME OF THE TEACHERS, AND THEY'RE JUST EXCITED TO GET THIS.

WE BUILT, WE'LL BE ROLLING IT OUT NEXT YEAR TO THE MIDDLE AND L I'M SORRY TO THE ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL TO GET THEM TRAINED, TO FULLY IMPLEMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR, BUT THEY WILL BE USING THIS NEXT YEAR.

AND WE HOPE TO HAVE SOME GREAT VIDEOS, SHOW YOU THE INTERACTION WITH THE TEACHERS AND THE STUDENTS AS THIS GETS IMPLEMENTED.

NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

AND CYBER UP IS GOING TO HELP US WITH OUR CYBERSECURITY COURSES WITH, UH, WITH AT WESTBRIDGE CLUSTER.

CYBER SECURITY IS HARD TO LEARN.

IT'S NOT JUST CODING.

THERE'S SO MUCH IN THE BACKGROUND OF CYBER SECURITY.

SO WHAT CYBER UP HAS DONE HAS CREATED COURSES OF COMPETITION FOR STUDENTS TO ENTER INTO, AND AS THEY ENTER INTO THESE COMPETITIONS, LEARNING HOW TO, HOW TO WORK WITH CYBERSECURITY, THEY ARE ELEVATED TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

AND AS THEY WORKED THROUGH MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL THROUGH CYBER UP, THEY ARE ACTUALLY CAN, CAN ENTER INTO AN APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM.

THEY CAN ENTER INTO AN INTERNSHIP PROGRAM WITH NATIONAL, UH, CYBER INSTITUTIONS IF THEY CHOOSE TO, BUT IT'S ALL DONE THROUGH A GAMING SEQUENCE THAT HELPS THEM DEVELOP AND LOOK FOR SPECIFIC THINGS THAT CAN HELP AGAINST THE THREAT AGAINST OUR NATION.

SO THEY'RE WORKING WITH US.

THEY ALSO HAVE A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM THAT WE'RE GOING TO OFFER ANY OF OUR CYBER TEACHERS, AND THEY'RE GOING TO WORK CLOSELY WITH THEM TO GET THEM UP TO SPEED ON CURRENT, BECAUSE AS YOU KNOW, CYBER STUFF CHANGES CONSTANTLY, AND WE ARE TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH THAT.

AND THIS WILL GET US STARTED WITH THE NATIONAL EXPERTS ON WHAT OUR STUDENTS SHOULD KNOW AND WHAT OUR TEACHERS SHOULD KNOW IN ORDER TO TEACH IT.

THIS IS OUR SUMMER CAMP THAT WE TALKED ABOUT.

IT WILL BE JUNE THE 13TH AND 17TH, ALONG WITH CYSA AND FOR THE FOURTH THROUGH EIGHTH GRADERS, UH, OUR STEAM ARTS INFUSION THEME.

AND THEN FOR THE TEACHERS, WE'RE GOING TO BE PAYING A STIPEND FOR THEM TO COME IN AND LEARN SPECIFIC, UH, MATERIAL RELATED TO THEIR SUBJECT AREAS.

BUT ALL TEACHERS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THE ARTS INTEGRATION AND NEXT LAWS.

AND AS YOU KNOW, FOR APPLYING OR ENROLLING INTO AN M SET SCHOOL IS THE SAME AS IT IS FOR ANY STUDENT IN THAT, WITHIN THE DISTRICT.

IT'S NOT GOING TO BE ANY DIFFERENT.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE, IF THE STUDENT IS ALREADY IN THAT, UM, DESIGNATED AREA, THAT THEY WILL HAVE PRIORITY INTO THAT SCHOOL LOCATION.

IF THERE ARE STUDENTS COMING OR WANTING TO COME FROM HILTON HEAD AND WANTING TO COME OVER TO WELL BRANCH BELL, WE WILL, WE WILL HAVE THEM FILL OUT AN APPLICATION AND FIND OUT IF THERE'S LOCATIONS AND SEATING SPACE AT THAT SCHOOL FOR THEM AT THAT TIME.

SO EVENTUALLY WE WILL HAVE SOME MORE DATA ON THAT TO SHARE WITH YOU IN THE FUTURE.

AS WE WORKED THROUGH THIS PROCESS, AND THESE ARE OUR FIVE AREAS OF FOCUS THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT, QUALITY INSTRUCTION, MAKING SURE THAT WE TEACH TEACHERS TO NOT JUST DELIVER THE INSTRUCTION THAT IT IS, BUT TO MAKE IT A QUALITY FOCUS FOR THE STUDENTS AND FOR THEM THEMSELVES,

[00:45:01]

IT HAS TO INCLUDE CRITICAL THINKING.

IT HAS TO HAVE LEARNING IN A MEANINGFUL WAY FOR THE STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO GRAB THIS.

AND WE THINK THAT THE Z SPACE WILL GRAB THIS FOR THE STUDENTS, AS WELL AS JUST ONE ITEM, ALIGN THE CURRICULUM.

WE'VE GOT SOME NEW CURRICULUM COMING IN.

SO WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE CURRICULUM CROSSES ALL LEVELS, JUST LIKE OUR ARTS INTEGRATION.

WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO SAY, YOU CAN TEACH FACIAL RECOGNITION IN MATH DOING THIS, BUT YOU CAN ALSO DRAW ART SHOWING EXAMPLES OF HOW THAT'S DONE.

WE WANT SOCIAL STUDIES TO BE ABLE TO BE INCLUDED AT ALL.

WE WANT, WE WANT TO ALIGN THE CURRICULUM WORK.

IT TOUCHES EVERY SUBJECT MATTER POSSIBLE FOR OUR TEACHERS DEVELOPING OUR CAREER PATHWAYS.

WE HAVE A GREAT SET OF CAREER PATHWAYS FROM KATE RIGHT NOW FOR THE IT AREA.

WE WANT TO START WORKING ON OUR MEDICAL AS WELL.

WE'VE BEEN TALKING TO PAPERT MEMORIAL ABOUT COLLABORATION WITH THEIR, UH, NURSING STAFF, THEIR, THEIR, UH, EDUCATION STAFF, AND HAVING DOING PARTNERSHIPS WITH THEM, WORKING ON ORIGINAL AND THEY HELP US.

SO WE, WE THINK THAT THAT'S A GREAT STEP FOR OUR VIEW FOR CLUSTER AND THE SUPPORT FOR OUR STUDENTS.

WE'VE GOT TO SUPPORT THEM, NOT JUST BY THEM SHOWING UP AND NOT SHOWING UP EVERY DAY.

WE'VE GOT TO SUPPORT THEM AND TAKE THE TIME TO REALLY SEE WHAT THEIR INTERESTS ARE.

WHAT CAREERS ARE THEY WANT TO DO? WHAT AREAS OF THAT, CAN WE HELP THEM UNDERSTAND OR PURSUE IN ANOTHER WAY, IF WE'RE NOT OFFERING IT, NOTHING LIKE CROSS THAT ACROSS OUR CURRICULUM TO SUPPORT THEM AND SHOW THEM THAT WE CAN FIND A TRACK FOR THEM TO HELP THEM BE SUCCESSFUL.

AND THEN LEADERSHIP FOR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT.

WE ALWAYS WANT TO WORK WITH OUR SCHOOL LEADERS AND MAKE SURE THAT THEY HAVE WHAT THEY NEED TO HELP THEM IMPROVE, TO HELP BUILD FUTURE LEADERS, NOT JUST FOR OUR ADMINISTRATION, BUT FOR OUR STUDENTS AS WELL.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY KNOW THAT THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH FAILING IN THE ENGINEERING FIELD.

WE CALL IT FAILING FORWARD.

AND SO WHEN YOU BUILD THAT ENGINE AND IT DOESN'T WORK, THAT'S ALL RIGHT, YOU STILL BUILD IT.

NOW LET'S FIND OUT WHY IT DOESN'T WORK.

SO LET'S GET IT TO WORK SO YOU CAN CHANGE SOMETHING UP.

THERE'S ALWAYS A WAY TO CHANGE.

YOUR FAILURE IS NOT AN ISSUE.

WE WANT YOU TO FAIL.

SO YOU WILL LEARN FROM YOUR EXPERIENCES AND DO BETTER.

NEXT TIME.

WE'RE GOING TO ENCOURAGE YOU AS WE MOVE ALONG.

AND MY LAST SLIDE, I THINK, IS JUST MY CONTACT INFORMATION, AND I'M HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE.

OKAY.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

UM, I'LL START.

I HAVE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS.

WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT, UM, HIRING A MEDICAL TEACHER, WHAT DOES THAT ENTAIL? WELL, OUR ENDS ARE VERY HARD TO HIRE HIM.

SO WE HAVE A COUPLE OF OPTIONS WITH OUR MEDICAL PROJECT LEAD THE WAY OFFERS A MEDICAL BIOMEDICAL CERTIFICATION FOR TEACHERS.

SO I CAN BE IN THE, IN THE SCIENCE FIELD AND I CAN BE IN THE MATH FIELD, ANY OF THE STEAM FIELDS, AND I CAN GET CERTIFIED WITHIN A PROJECT LEAD THE WAY PARTICULAR COURSES OF BIOMEDICAL HEALTH, SCIENCES, FOUNDATIONS OF SCIENCE, OF HEALTH SCIENCE, AND, UM, MEDICAL DETECTIVES.

SO IF WE ARE UNABLE TO HIRE IN AN RN OR A HEALTH SCIENCE PROFESSIONAL THEMSELVES, WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO HIRE A MEDICAL TEACHER WHERE THEY PROJECT LEAD THE WAY BACKGROUND THAT HAS IT IN SCIENCE PHYSICS.

IT COULD BE ANY OF THOSE AREAS AS LONG AS THEY GO THROUGH THAT PARTICULAR TRAINING.

OKAY.

AND THEN ONE OTHER QUESTION THAT I'M GOING TO TURN IT OVER TO OTHER PEOPLE ON THE COMMITTEE.

UM, YOU MENTIONED IN HERE THAT YOU ARE INTERESTED IN DEVELOPING A MAGNET PROGRAM, TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM PLAN, YOU KNOW, THAT'S THE PROBLEMS THAT WE HAVE WITH OUR MAGNET SCHOOLS AND REALLY MAKING THEM TRUE, TRULY ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE BECAUSE WE DON'T PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION.

ARE YOU INDICATING THIS, THAT YOU'RE DEVELOPED THAT THIS GRANT IS GOING TO SOMEHOW COME UP WITH A PLAN TO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION FOR PEOPLE I'LL ANSWER, AND THEN I'LL LET NOT DISTRACT HIS ANSWER IN THE GRANT IN THE YEARS TO COME, THAT WE WILL PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION.

AND THERE IS FUNDING IN THERE FOR US TO PROVIDE THAT TRANSPORTATION.

SO WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO WORK OUT NOW IS A PLAN TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN WITH, AND I THINK THAT THE STRATEGY CAN GO FURTHER FROM THERE.

THIS IS ROBIN WE'VE STARTED DISCUSSION WITH MR. ADI REGARDING AS WELL AS SHARING THE INFORMATION REGARDING WHAT WE HAVE IN FUNDING.

SO THAT PROCESS FOR CONVERSATION IS NOW JUST HAPPENING AT THE TABLE.

[00:50:01]

UM, WE ARE LOOKING ALSO TO HAVE TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED FOR OUR STUDENTS, ALTHOUGH WE DON'T HAVE OUT OF ZONE STUDENTS FOR SUMMER CAMP, WE ARE LOOKING TO HAVE THAT ALSO AS AN ELEMENT FOR THE STUDENTS WHO WILL BE TARGETED FOR THE CAMP COMPONENT AT OUR KEY SCHOOLS THIS SUMMER.

SO THAT IS A COMPONENT FOR THIS.

UM, HOPEFULLY THROUGH THE YEARS AS WE'RE ABLE TO BUILD, DO WE TURN A STUDENTS TO OUR SCHOOLS AS WELL? WE'LL BE ABLE THEN TO CONTINUE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE TRANSPORTATION.

THAT IS ONE OF THE ELEMENTS WITHIN THIS GRANT AT THIS TIME.

OKAY.

THANK YOU.

THANK YOU, MADAM CHAIR.

UH, JUST WANTED TO CHECK TO SEE IF YOU HAVE REACHED OUT TO THE SOUTH COAST CYBER CENTER.

YOU'RE IN BUFORD, UH, GETTING, UH, UH, RAMPED UP.

UH, THEY'RE GOING TO BE AT THE, UH, OLD BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB AND THE OLD BRIDGES BUILDING, UH, THERE ON BOUNDARY STREET.

HAVE YOU REACHED OUT TO THEM? YEAH.

HAVE REACHED OUT TO THEM AND WE'VE REACHED OUT TO THE BEAVER CORRIDOR.

UM, THE DOLE CORRIDOR.

THEY ARE ALSO MEMBERS ON OUR TEAM TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE FOR US.

YES, SIR.

MADAM CHAIR, MAY I JUST EXTENDED THAT A MOMENT? YES, PLEASE AM COLONEL GUY.

WE'VE ALSO, UM, THROUGH DS OR, UM, EXTENDED A GRANT PROPOSAL THAT HAS GONE FORWARD IN CYBER SECURITY FOR BUILDING ADDITIONAL CAPACITY AMONGST OUR EDUCATORS.

WE'RE WAITING ON THE RETURN.

THEY WERE, UM, THE CYBER CORRIDOR WAS A PARTNER WITH US AT WRITING THAT GRANT.

MR. MEL CAMPBELL.

NOW YOU'RE MUTED.

I HAVE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS THAT COME TO MIND ONE, UH, THE SIX YEAR, BUT THE SIX YEAR ARE WE GOING TO HAVE ELEMENTARY LEVEL PARTICIPATION AT THAT TIME, STILL THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE PROCESS OF THE SIX YEARS.

AND WE HOPE THEY HAVE SUSTAINABILITY.

CONTINUE IT FROM THERE FORWARD.

YES, SIR.

OKAY.

SO WE, WE HAVE TO START THINKING ABOUT THAT ELEMENT OF FUNDING FOR SUSTAINABILITY, THAT OKAY.

AND THAT, YEAH, PROBABLY GOING TO GO UP, BUT RIGHT NOW IT'S AT THE TONE OF ABOUT TWO TWO-WAY 2 MILLION, $2.1 MILLION A YEAR, RIGHT? MR. CAMPBELL, WE LOOK AT THE BREAK AND THE GRANT AND THAT REGARDS, THE ANSWER TO THAT IS YES.

A LOT OF THAT IS UP FRONT UTILIZATION.

WE RECOGNIZE ALSO THAT A LOT OF THAT IS ALSO PERSONNEL THAT WOULD PROBABLY BE REABSORBED BACK INTO COORDINATORS POSITIONS AT THE DISTRICT LEVEL IN ORDER TO SUSTAIN.

SO AS WE'RE BUILDING CAPACITY WITH AMSAT PERSONNEL, WE'RE WORKING, INTEGRATING WITH THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE DIVISION.

OKAY.

MAGNET IS THAT MISS NORMAL, WHERE IT'S AMAZING THAT IT'S NOT A, IT'S NOT ENTRY FROM OTHER SCHOOLS OTHER THAN THE SCHOOLS YOU HAVE ALREADY, RIGHT.

UM, STUDENTS CAN ENGAGE IN THIS PROGRAM IF THEY'RE NOT IN THIS CLUSTER AREAS, RIGHT.

THEY WILL GO AHEAD AND MISS OUT IN BUFORD COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT CAN PARTICIPATE AT THE SOUTHERN SCHOOLS.

SO FOR CLARIFICATION, MR. CAMPBELL, AS WE GO ONTO YEAR TWO, WE GET WE'RE IN YEAR ONE, PLANNING YEAR TWO IS THE DEVELOPMENT OF THAT TRANSPORTATION MODEL.

WE WILL HAVE THAT MAGNET APPLICATION PROCESS FOR ANY STUDENT WITHIN FREE COUNTY AS THAT TRANSPORTATION IS ALSO SET UP.

YES, SIR.

THIS CASUAL SAN RESTRICTION HAS ALL THIS AS CAPACITY ALLOWS, FORTUNATELY IN FAVOR OF THE GRANT ITSELF, THE TARGETED SCHOOLS ARE NOT AT A CASE OF CAPACITY.

THAT EXACTLY, SIR, BUT THERE WILL BE GOING FORWARD.

ONCE WE REACH THAT 85TH AND NINTH, NINTH 90TH PERCENTILE OF UTILIZATION, WE RECOGNIZE THAT CHOICE WOULD NOT BE AN OPTION, SIR.

OKAY.

YEAH.

CORRECT.

I CAN SEE, I WILL ADD TO, OF, OF APPLICATIONS COMING IN AND I, AND I AM ALSO SHARES AND COURAGE A LITTLE BIT MORE COMMUNITY ADVERTISEMENT OR OUTREACH IN TERMS OF WHAT WE'RE DOING.

I THINK THIS IS AN EXCELLENT PROGRAM AND A GOOD, A

[00:55:01]

GOOD, UH, PUBLIC RELATIONS, UH, EFFORT WOULD GO F GO FAR IN TERMS OF OUR OVERALL IMAGE ON WHAT WE ARE DOING IN TERMS OF THE SCHOOLS.

UH, I, YOU KNOW, I WANT MORE THAN JUST THE TEACHERS AT THE STUDENTS THAT ARE PARENTS OF THOSE TEACHERS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS PROGRAM AND WHAT'S GOING ON WITH IT.

BUT, UH, THANKS FOR THE PRESENTATION AND I'M GONNA, YOU KNOW, SUPPORT EVERY EFFORT.

THANK YOU, SIR.

WE, AGAIN, WE JUST HIRED IN OUR MARKETING PERSON, SO WE'RE ON, WE'RE ON IT.

WE'RE ALL ON THAT TASK TO GET THIS OUT.

WE WERE DOING OUR BEST AND PULLING IT ALL TOGETHER AND HOPEFULLY YOU WILL SEE IT EVERYWHERE.

AND EVERYBODY'S A LOCAL IT'S ABOUT, YES, SIR.

MADAM CHAIR, MAY I ASK AND EXPAND? SO WE HAVE BEEN WORKING ON A MARKETING PLAN.

UM, WE'VE JUST LANDED ON OUR BRANDING.

UM, THAT WAS GO BEYOND WHAT WE HAVE ON THE BOTTOM OF THIS PRESENTATION TO MAGNET SCHOOLS, UM, EMBLEM, WE ARE WORKING AND DAVE, YOU WANT TO EXTEND, EXPAND EVEN FURTHER.

WE'RE LOOKING AT BILLBOARDS, WE'RE LOOKING, HOW CAN WE GET THIS OUT IN ON BLOGS? WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO MARKET THE WORK THAT'S GOING FORWARD AND THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR FAMILIES HERE AND WRITTEN THIS GRANT DOES ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN.

UM, RATHER THAN JUST A CHOICE BOOKLET, WE'RE LOOKING MORE AT A SCHOOL DIRECTORY THAT WILL BE AVAILABLE AND IT'S GOING TO BE SHARED WITH REALTORS.

SO THE MARKETING PLAN IS AT, UM, PLANNING AND ALMOST INTO THAT STAGE OF GROWING INTO IMPLEMENTATION RIGHT NOW.

UM, DR.

STRATO CITIZEN, THIS, UM, I MAY HAVE MISSED THIS.

SO WHEN THE STUDENTS DO THEIR CHOICE THIS COMING YEAR, WHEN THEY SAY, IS THIS AN OPTION? NOW THE OPTION FOR CHOICE FOR OUT OF ATTENDANCE ZONE WILL OPEN IN THE, NOT THIS YEAR, THE FOLLOWING YEAR, SO THAT WE CAN PUT, BUT WITH FULL CHOICE APPLICATION, THE MARKETING IS ALSO TO BE VERY DIRECT, IS TO HAVE OUR CHILDREN RETURNED BACK TO BE A FREE COUNTY.

SO IF YOU LOOK AT THE TARGETED SCHOOLS, HAVE YOU NOTE THAT WE ARE MIDDLE SCHOOL IS A SIGNIFICANT AREA WHERE FAMILIES JUMPED, RIGHT.

LEAVE US AND COME BACK.

THAT'S WHY WE HAVE THREE MIDDLE SCHOOLS IN THIS GRANT.

UM, SO WE WOULD TRY TO BE STRATEGIC AT WORKING WITH THE GRANT WRITING TEAM, UM, LOOKING AT THE TRENDS HERE IN BUFORD FOR ACTUALLY SINCE 2011.

OKAY.

UH, LET'S SEE.

I DON'T, LET ME SEE IF THERE, ARE THERE ANY OTHER HANDS UP ROBIN? NO, I DON'T SEE ANY.

OKAY.

SO I, LET ME ASK THIS QUESTION TO MY MANY FOLKS AND IS MR. STILL ON? YES.

UM, WHEN WOULD BE A GOOD POINT, DO YOU THINK IN DR.

STRATOSE FOR US TO BRING THIS, UM, TO THE FULL BOARD, UH, YOU KNOW, WHEN, WHEN DO WE BRING IT BACK AS AN UPDATE TO THEM? UM, DO WE WAIT UNTIL THERE'S A LITTLE BIT MORE DEVELOPED OR DO YOU THINK WE TAKE IT TO A WORK SESSION IN MARCH? UM, PUT IT ON AND, YOU KNOW, TRY TO GET ON AN AGENDA IN FEBRUARY? I DON'T THINK, I THINK THAT FEBRUARY, FIRST AGENDAS PROUD OF, UH, PROBABLY TO, BUT WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK ABOUT WHEN WE SHOULD GET THIS OUT TO THE FULL BOARD? MR. THANK YOU.

UM, MY OPINION, THIS IS DEFINITELY A WORK SESSION.

THERE'S GOING TO BE QUESTIONS AND PEOPLE ARE GOING TO WANT SOME TIME TO, TO SLOSH AROUND IN THE DETAILS, SO TO SPEAK.

UM, AND I THINK WHEN WE HAVE A WORK SESSION ON THIS FRIDAY, SO IT'S TOO LATE.

OUR NEXT WORK SESSION IS, I DUNNO, ROBIN, UM, SEEMS APPROPRIATE TO ME, BUT YOU KNOW, THE AGENDA SET BY THE, BY THE WHOLE COMMITTEE OFFICERS, BUT THAT'S WHY I THINK IT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE UNLESS THERE'S A REASON TO DELAY IT ANY FURTHER, BECAUSE THERE'D BE MORE INFORMATION.

BUT I DON'T SENSE THAT, UM, THAT THAT TIME WOULD CHANGE THIS PRESENTATION MUCH.

ANY OTHER COMMENTS? THAT WAS WHAT I WAS ASKING AND I WAS THINKING OF WORK SESSION AS WELL, BUT, UM, MR. CAMPBELL, MS. MIDDLETON, I AGREE.

I, I AGREE WITH WHAT YOU GUYS, I THINK

[01:00:01]

BODGE WOULD BE APPROPRIATE.

IT WOULD GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO DO MORE THINGS LIKE HIRING.

YOU KNOW, I HAVE SOME MORE EYES ON HAVING, YOU KNOW, AND ALSO GET VOTER ERECTION TABS.

IT WAS THE ADVERTISEMENT AND OTHER THINGS, SO IT GIVES THEM A MONTH, MONTH AND A HALF TO, TO DO MORE.

BUT YEAH, MR. SMITH, I DEFINITELY AGREE.

I'LL WORK SESSIONS PROBABLY WOULD BE MORE, UH, WHO WOULD BE FEASIBLE, FREEBIE FEASIBLE.

I WAS, I WAS GOING TO ADD THAT, ADD THAT TOO AS WELL.

OKAY.

WELL, LET'S SEE, I GOT, JUST DRAGGED HIS HANDS UP.

OKAY, DR.

STRATOSE.

I JUST WANTED TO SUPPORT THE WORK SESSION SUBJECT TO RECOGNIZING THAT OUR SCHOOL DIRECTORY WILL BE COMPLETED THEN.

SO WE WILL HAVE SOMETHING TANGIBLE AS WELL THAT WE COULD SHARE WITH THE BOARD, WHICH IS GOING TO BE CONSTITUTED.

EACH OF OUR SCHOOLS HIGHLIGHTING THEIR STRENGTHS, HIGHLIGHTING THEIR PROGRAMS. I THINK THAT WOULD BE TIMING.

AND, UM, I BUILD OFF OF MR. CAMPBELL REGARDING THE OPPORTUNITY FOR MORE HIRING.

WE ARE TRYING TO DEVELOP SOME CREATIVE WAYS IN ORDER TO FILL SOME CHALLENGING POSITIONS BECAUSE WE RECOGNIZE MEDICAL FIELD AND TECHNOLOGY FIELD ARE NOT THE EASIEST TO CROSS INTO PUBLIC SECTOR VERSUS PRIVATE.

RIGHT? YEAH.

YOU CAN MAKE A WHOLE LOT MORE MONEY OUT THERE IN THE PRIVATE.

YES MA'AM.

OKAY.

IT SEEMS LIKE WE AGREE THAT THIS WOULD BE A TOPIC THAT WE COULD MOVE FORWARD IN MARCH ON.

I WILL MAKE A NOTE OF THAT.

OKAY.

NOW, UM, DISCUSSION OF FUTURE TOPICS, ACCORDING TO OUR CURRENT WORK PLAN, ALTHOUGH THERE MAY BE SOME MODIFICATIONS COMING UP, UM, OH, E 12.1 IS DUE IN FEBRUARY AND 12.1 STATES ENSURE THAT INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS ARE BASED ON A COMPREHENSIVE AND OBJECTIVE REVIEW OF BEST PRACTICE RESEARCH.

AND THEN, UH, IN ADDITION TO THAT, I BELIEVE DR.

STRATOSE WANTED TO, UM, BRING THE, UH, SCHOOL CALENDAR TO THE ACADEMIC COMMITTEE FOR FIRST LOOK, UH, ANY COMMENTS ABOUT THOSE TWO ITEMS? OH MY GOODNESS.

I THINK I'VE LOST.

CAN YOU, CAN YOU ALL HEAR ME? YES, MA'AM OKAY.

UM, CAUSE I, I WASN'T, IF ANYONE WAS TALKING, I DIDN'T HEAR YOU.

SO DO YOU WANT ME TO REPEAT WHAT I HAD FOR FUTURE TOPICS? OKAY.

ONE WAS, UM, ACCORDING TO OUR WORK PLAN, UM, O E 12.1 WAS SUPPOSED TO COME TO THE ACADEMIC COMMITTEE IN FEBRUARY AND THAT, OH, HE STATES THAT, UH, THE SUPERINTENDENT SHALL INSURER, THAT INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS ARE BASED ON A COMPREHENSIVE AND OBJECTIVE REVIEW OF BEST PRACTICES RESEARCH.

AND THEN THE OTHER ITEM IS THE, UM, CALENDAR FOR THE 2223 SCHOOL YEAR.

UM, YOU KNOW, THE SCHOOL BOARD IN OUR STATE HAS TO APPROVE THAT CALENDAR.

AND I KNOW THAT DR.

STRATOS LIKES TO, UH, HAVE THE ACADEMIC COMMITTEE LOOK AT IT PRIOR TO BRINGING IT TO THE FULL BOARD.

OKAY.

ANYBODY ELSE HAVE ANY TOPICS? NO.

DR.

STRATUS, ARE YOU OKAY WITH THOSE TWO TOPICS THAT I PRESENTED? YES, MA'AM.

AND I, UH, MADAM CHAIR, I WANTED TO JUST PUT A LIGHT REMINDER FROM THE NOVEMBER MEETING FROM THE MINUTES REGARDING THE VIRTUAL JOB, THERE WAS SOME ITEMS SO GIVES FUTURE CONSIDERATION IF YOU WANT THOSE ON AGENDA.

OKAY.

WELL, I THINK WHAT I, WHAT I REFLECTED IN THE MINUTES WAS THAT WE WANTED TO GET THOSE THINGS TO THE FULL BOARD PART OF THE PRESENTATION.

UM, SO WE CAN TALK, TALK ABOUT THAT.

AND I, WE MAY BE HAVING A K PRESENTATION COMING UP.

I CAN'T REMEMBER, BUT I BELIEVE THERE IS ONE ON, I BELIEVE.

UM, THERE

[01:05:01]

WAS A FUTURE TOPIC AT OUR LAST BOARD MEETING REGARDING SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND LOCATIONS AS WELL.

I DON'T KNOW IF WE'VE MADE IT AT AGENDA.

OKAY.

WELL, SO I'LL JUST KEEP THIS NOTE AND, YOU KNOW, FOLLOW UP ON IT TO MAKE SURE WE GET IT AT SOME POINT.

OKAY.

SO, UM, AT THIS POINT, ARE THERE ANY OTHER COMMENTS BEFORE WE MOVE TO SETTING OUR NEXT, UM, MEETING DATE, HANDS RAISED, I WILL MOVE FORWARD.

TRADITIONALLY WE HAVE MET THE LAST WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH.

SO KEEPING WITH THAT TRADITION, THE LAST WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH IS FEBRUARY 23RD AND, UM, FOUR 30 IN THE AFTERNOON IS, UM, MS. MIDDLETON DOES FOUR 30 STILL WORK FOR YOU FOR NOW? IT DOES.

OKAY.

ALL RIGHT.

CAUSE IF IT DOESN'T, I MEAN, WE, WE NEED TO BE, YOU KNOW, FLEXIBLE AND, UH, YOU KNOW, IF WE MEET, IF I'M NOT PRESENT, I'LL CATCH THE FEEDBACK OR I'LL COME BACK.

I'LL COME ON LATE IN THE, OKAY.

ALL RIGHT.

SO, UM, WELL, SHOULD WE MOVE IT TO FIVE O'CLOCK NO, MA'AM PLEASE DON'T DO IT ON MY BEHALF.

OKAY.

ALL RIGHT.

ALL RIGHT.

SO, UM, FOUR 30 ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23RD, FEBRUARY 23RD, FEBRUARY 23RD.

YOU'RE RIGHT.

THANK YOU, ROBIN FOR 30, FEBRUARY 23RD.

AND WE WILL HAVE, THERE WILL BE ANOTHER, UM, VIRTUAL MEETING.

THEY SEEM TO WORK WELL.

UH, EVERYONE GOOD WITH THAT? YES.

I'M SORRY, MR. CAMPBELL.

YES.

OKAY.

ALL RIGHT.

SO WE'VE WE AT, ON OUR AGENDA AT THAT MEETING AT THIS TIME WILL BE THE 20 22 23 CALENDAR AND O E 12.1.

OKAY.

ALL RIGHT.

UH, IS EVERYONE READY TO ADJOURN? OKAY.

THIS MEETING IS ADJOURNED.

THANK YOU EVERYONE.
