THIS MEETING HAS BEEN PUBLISHED, POSTED, AND DISTRIBUTED COMPLIANCE WITH THE SOUTH KIND OF FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT.

UH, WE

ALL RIGHT, HOWARD MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE.

DO WE HAVE A SECOND? I'LL SECOND I IN SECONDS.

UM, GO AHEAD AND TAKE A VOTE FOR APPROVAL ALL IN FAVOR.

SAY AYE OR SHOW OF HANDS.

THANK YOU.

ALL OPPOSED.

SAY NAY.

WE ALSO NEED TO MOVE ON TO ITEM NUMBER FIVE APPROVAL OF THE MEETING MINUTES.

YEP.

WE CAN HEAR YOU, NICK.

LESLIE, WOULD YOU, LESLIE, WOULD YOU AND NICK, MY ATTORNEY IN YOUR MUTE ON PLEASE, AND THEN A CALL OR TWO, IF EVERYONE CAN TRY TO MUTE, UM, SET WHEN THEY HAVE TO SPEAK, THAT'D BE GREAT.

UH, PROVE WITH THE MEETING MINUTES, THE MEETING WAS FROM MAY 20TH, 2021.

UM, DO WE HAVE ANY COMMENTS OR A MOTION TO APPROVE THE MEETING MINUTES? LESLIE, UH, MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE.

DO I HAVE A SECOND, UH, MULTIPLE ASSIGNMENTS? WE'LL GIVE IT TO NICK A SECOND.

ALL IN FAVOR, SAY AYE OR SHOW OF HANDS FOR APPROVAL.

ALL OPPOSE, UH, I GUESS A THUMBS DOWN THAT WAY WE'VE GOT TO RECORD.

SO THE MEETING MINUTES ARE APPROVED AS WRITTEN.

UH, WE'LL MOVE ON ITEM NUMBER SIX, PUBLIC COMMENT.

SO JOHN

[7. DIRECTOR’S REPORT]

QUICKLY OVER TO THE DIRECTOR'S REPORT.

YOU'VE GOT THE FLOOR.

ALL RIGHT.

THANK YOU.

WELL, WELCOME EVERYBODY.

IF WE HAVEN'T SEEN YOU IN A WHILE, IT'S GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN.

AND, UM, HOPEFULLY WE BACK IN PERSON SOON.

UM, WE DO HAVE, UH, ELENA CHECK IN WITH THE DIFFERENT ADMIN STAFF'S AT THE COUNTY AND AT THE TOWN OF HILTON HEAD ISLAND TO SEE WHEN THEY OPEN UP THEIR SPACES FOR MEETINGS LIKE THIS.

AND I KNOW THE TOWN WAS, UH, I THINK THEY'RE MEETING AGAIN SOON TO DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT THEY'RE GOING TO OPEN THAT UP TO MORE THAN JUST TOWN COUNCIL.

SO WE'LL SEE.

AND THEN COUNTY COUNCIL WAS, IS OPEN AS WELL.

UM, NOW ARE THEY ALL RIGHT NOW, UM, LIMITED SEATING IN COUNCIL CHAMBERS.

UH, SO, YOU KNOW, WE MIGHT HAVE TO TURN SOME PEOPLE AWAY AT THE DOOR CAUSE YOU KNOW, WE HAVE PRETTY FULLY AUDIENCE MUCH MOST OF THE TIME, SO WE'LL, WE'LL HAVE TO HAVE A WAITING LIST OR WHATEVER.

UH, BUT ANYWAY, HOPEFULLY WE CAN GET BACK IN PERSON MAYBE NEXT MONTH.

SO JUST KIND OF STAY TUNED FOR THAT.

UH, WE'LL LET YOU KNOW, AND I AM GOING TO GET A POWERPOINT STARTED AND THEN I WILL SHARE MY SCREEN.

ALL RIGHT.

PICK THE RIGHT SCREEN.

I LIKE 95 THINGS UP HERE.

SURE.

ALL RIGHT.

HOPEFULLY EVERYBODY SEES POWERPOINT.

RIGHT.

SEE THE ROUTE MAP.

GOOD.

OKAY.

EXCELLENT.

WELL, WELCOME TO THE JUNE 17TH, 2021 BOARD MEETING.

THIS IS OUR ROUTE MAP.

UH, ALL OF THOSE ROUTES THAT YOU SEE THERE AND HILTON HEAD ISLAND AIRPORT ARE DOING QUITE WELL.

THEY'RE QUITE BUSY.

UH, THURSDAY REALLY STARTS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE WEEK'S PUSH.

SO THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY, AND MONDAY ARE THE BIG DAYS, UH, AT THE ILO FOR FLIGHTS.

SO STAY QUITE BUSY.

ALL RIGHT.

SO QUICK LEGISLATIVE UPDATE.

WE'VE TALKED ABOUT THIS A FEW TIMES, BUT IN BETWEEN THE LAST MEETING AND THIS ONE, THE GOVERNOR DID SIGN THIS, UH, LEGISLATION INTO, INTO LAW NOW.

SO THAT'S GREAT.

GREAT NEWS FOR THE AIRPORTS.

AND THIS DOES HAVE

[00:05:01]

A FOLLOW ON, UM, IMPLICATIONS TOO.

SO THIS WILL HELP US, UH, AS A STATE, AS YEARS GO BY FOR THE FUNDING.

SO EXCELLENT NEWS.

THERE'S A BIG STEP FOR THE AVIATION FUND.

IT'S A, PHOTO'S 40 IS A PRETTY COOL AIRPLANE THAT CAME IN LAST WEEK AND ARW, UM, ACTUALLY ORIGINATED OUT IN, UH, IT WAS LOS ANGELES COUNTY.

IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, THAT'S CERTAINLY NOT A NON-STOP FLIGHT FROM THERE, BUT, UH, WE'LL CHARTER SERVICE.

UH, BLACKSTONE AIRWAYS IS WHAT IT'S CALLED, BUT REALLY A REALLY BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL AIRPLANE THAT'S BEEN FULLY RESTORED AND JUST A GORGEOUS AIRPLANE THAT CAME IN.

AND THEN PROBABLY THE, THE DEFINITELY THE PHOTO OF THE WEEK AND PROBABLY THE MONTH AND MAYBE THE YEAR IT WAS A, THIS HAPPENED JUST ABOUT, UM, JUST ABOUT TWO HOURS AGO.

UH, WE HAD A MEDAL OF HONOR WINNER, UH, THE LAST SURVIVING WORLD WAR TWO, UH, UH, MEDAL OF HONOR WINNER FLEW ARW SO THAT HE COULD ATTEND HIS GREAT GRANDSON'S GRADUATION FROM PARIS ISLAND.

SO VERY COOL.

UH, PAUL AND HIS GUYS FROM WEST VIRGINIA.

SO IT WAS REALLY COOL BECAUSE PAUL'S A WEST VIRGINIA GUY AS WELL.

SO IT WAS AWESOME TO HAVE PAUL WELCOME, UH, WOODY WILLIAMS INTO ARW AS HE BEGAN HIS, HIS COUPLE OF DAYS HERE IN BUFORD.

SO HE'S GOT A FEW EVENTS OVER AT PARIS ISLAND.

OBVIOUSLY A LOT OF PEOPLE WANT TO MEET HIM AND TALK WITH HIM AND, UH, AND THEN TOMORROW MORNING HE'LL BE ATTENDING THE, LIKE I SAID, THE GRADUATION RUN, RECRUIT TRAINING OF HIS GREAT-GRANDSON SO VERY COOL.

I WOULD ENCOURAGE EVERYBODY TO, TO GOOGLE HIM AND, UH, READ HIS MEDAL OF HONOR CITATION.

UM, JUST, IT'S PRETTY INCREDIBLE.

THEY, THEY DON'T BUILD MANY LIKE THIS GUY, SO I CHECK THAT OUT.

UH, OF COURSE WE'RE A LITTLE PARTIAL TO HIM CAUSE HE'S A MARINE, BUT A PRETTY, PRETTY AWESOME CITATION AND CERTAINLY A HUGE HONOR TO HAVE A FLY INTO, UH, TO ONE OF OUR AIRPORTS, UH, AND THEN HAVE HAVE PAUL PRESENTED WITH THE FROGMORE PARAPHERNALIA AS YOU CAN SEE.

SO THE LAST NAME AGAIN, PLEASE, UH, WILLIAMS IT'S PERSONAL WOODY WILLIAMS. THANK YOU.

IT'S A BATTLE OF IWO JIMA.

ALL RIGHT.

SO MOVING INTO THE STATS, WE, UH, YOU GOT THIS AS BACKUP AS WELL, BUT AWESOME NUMBERS FOR MAY.

UM, GREAT FUEL STYLE.

SO, UH, WE ARE, WE'RE DOING MORE THAN WE HAVE DONE IN QUITE A LONG TIME.

SO OPERATIONS ARE UP, FLIGHT TRAINING IS STILL POPULAR.

UH, SO YOU CAN SEE THAT APP GASES IS REALLY, REALLY HIGH.

SO ANOTHER GREAT MONTH ON FUEL SALES THERE.

AND HOPEFULLY WE'LL CONTINUE THAT WE DO END UP AS YOU CAN REMEMBER, AND YOU CAN SEE BY THE GRAPHS, WE TYPICALLY HAVE A DIP IN THE SUMMERTIME CAUSE THE TEMPERATURES, UH, BUT WE'LL SEE WE'RE TRENDING UP THIS YEAR.

SO MAYBE WE'LL BE ABLE TO CONTINUE THAT.

AND THERE'S YOUR OPERATIONS AND TOTAL FLOW AGAIN, JUST DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO JANUARY THAT HAD THE SKEWED, UH, OPERATIONAL NUMBER THERE.

SO, UM, OPERATIONS ARE ACTUALLY A LITTLE BIT, A LITTLE BIT LOWER IN MAY, BUT FUEL SALES WERE UP.

SO THAT'S A GOOD THING.

ANY QUESTIONS ON THAT? AND I THINK WE HAVE PAUL ON BOARD.

SO JUST PAUL, DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO ADD ABOUT ARW BEFORE WE MOVE ON? UH, NO, SIR.

I THINK, I THINK YOU'VE COVERED EVERYTHING.

THANK YOU.

ALL RIGHT, THANKS.

UM, ALL RIGHT, SO LET'S MOVE ALONG.

ANYBODY ELSE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, COMMENTS ABOUT AIR W BEFORE WE MOVE ON TO HILTON HEAD TRAY? SORRY ABOUT I COULDN'T, I COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT.

UM, YEAH, THAT LOOKS GREAT.

CONGRATULATIONS, PAUL, UM, OBVIOUSLY YARD WORK AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS PAYING OFF WITH PEOPLE COMING TO ARW AND JOHN WITH YOU, UH, MAKING THE, THE PRICE ADJUSTMENT SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, YEAR AGO, IT'S CERTAINLY MADE A DIFFERENCE.

UM, I KNOW PAUL AND THE STAFF HAD WANTED TO DO SOME ARE LOOKING FOR SOME FUNDS TO DO SOME UPGRADES IN THE, UH, FBO AND JUST SOME OTHER IMPROVEMENTS AROUND THE AIRPORT.

HOW DOES THIS HELP US FEEL? CELLS ARE UP, I ASSUME INCOME'S UP.

UM, IS THERE, ARE THERE SOME MONIES THAT ARE BECOMING AVAILABLE, JOHN, THAT WE COULD START TRYING TO DO SOME OF THESE IMPROVEMENTS? YEAH.

THANKS FOR BRINGING THAT UP.

CRAIG, THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION AND SOMETHING I FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT JUST THIS WEEK.

UM, WE RECEIVED THE H TAXED AWARD LETTERS FROM THE COUNTY FINANCE.

UM, SO WE DID APPLY FOR, I THINK OUR NUMBER IS 80,000 IN FUNDING AND W WE DID RECEIVE THAT WE WERE AWARDED 80,000.

SO WE'RE GOING TO DO SOME RENOVATIONS INSIDE THAT TERMINAL.

UM, SO NOW THAT THE MONEY'S BEEN OFFICIALLY AWARDED, NOW WE CAN GO AHEAD AND BID THAT OUT.

SO, UM, YOU'LL SEE THAT OPPORTUNITY

[00:10:01]

COMING OUT REAL SOON.

GREAT, GOOD NEWS.

THANK YOU, JOHN.

NOW LET ME TRY TO MEET, SO I DON'T GIVE YOU BACK BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE.

ALL RIGHT.

ANYBODY ELSE WE'RE UH, IF ANYBODY ELSE, MAYOR W LET ME KNOW.

I CAN'T SEE EVERYBODY RIGHT NOW.

SO JUST GO AHEAD AND SPEAK OUT IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING, HEY, JOHN, AND, UH, COUNCIL MEMBERS, OUR BOARD MEMBERS, UH, THIS IS STEVE, AND I BELIEVE AN ADDITIVE TO THAT.

UH, PAUL, UH, HAS LOOKED INTO AND IS EXTREMELY CLOSE IF NOT HAVE ALREADY DONE IT, UH, PURCHASED, UH, SOME NEW LIGHTS FOR THE HANGERS.

SO HOPE WE CAN BRIGHTEN UP THOSE HANGERS A LITTLE BIT TRAY.

YOU HAVE THE, THE BEAUTIFUL HANGER AND WE'RE TRYING TO MAKE THEM ALL LOOK LIKE YOU'RE.

SO, BUT THOSE, UH, I THINK WE CAN EXPECT THOSE TO BE COMING SOON AND HOPEFULLY, UH, UH, INSTALLED SHORTLY AFTER THAT.

YEAH.

THANKS FOR THAT, STEVE.

OKAY.

ALL RIGHT.

ANYBODY ELSE READY? RW, IF NOT, WE'LL HEAD ON TO HILTON HEAD.

ALL RIGHT.

SO WE'VE BEEN WORKING FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS.

WE HAD A COUPLE OF SESSIONS WITH OUR STAFF TO TALK ABOUT, YOU KNOW, THE, THE CULTURE OF THE AIRPORT, HOW WE OPERATE.

AND, UH, WE DECIDED TO WORK ON A VISION AND MISSION STATEMENT.

SO WE GOT TOGETHER WITH STAFF, UH, I THINK IT WAS TOWARDS THE END OF MAY.

AND WE KIND OF FINALLY CAME UP WITH A VISION MISSION STATEMENTS.

SO I'LL SHARE THOSE WITH YOU TODAY.

THE VISION FOR THE HILTON ISLAND AIRPORT HAS BECOME THE MOST DESIRED DESTINATION AIRPORT IN THE COUNTRY.

AND I REMEMBER A VISION STATEMENTS SUPPOSED TO BE KIND OF UP THERE IN THE CLOUDS.

THAT'S WHY I USE THIS PICTURE.

IT IS KIND OF UP THERE IN THE CLOUDS.

UM, AND, BUT IT'S A STRETCH GOAL.

YOU KNOW, SOMETHING THAT YOU MAY OR MAY NOT EVER ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH, BUT IT SETS YOUR SIGHTS HIGH.

UM, AND IT'S IN HIS BOLD, UH, AND WE THOUGHT THAT THAT KIND OF MET THOSE THOSE CRITERIA.

AND THAT'S WHAT WE'RE GOING TO TRY TO BE WHEN WE GROW UP AT HILTON HEAD.

SO THAT IS THE VISION FOR THE HILL, THAT ISLAND AIRPORT.

UM, AND NOW WE'LL MOVE ON TO THE, THE MISSION STATEMENT.

AND THE MISSION STATEMENT IS MORE OF A GUIDING STATEMENT THAT, THAT HELPS YOU REFLECT ON WHAT YOU DO ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIS.

IF YOU EVER HAVE DECISIONS TO MAKING, REFER TO THE MISSION STATEMENT AND DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT IT LINES UP, AND THEN YOU PROCEED, OR YOU DON'T PROCEED.

BUT THE MISSION STATEMENT IS TO PROVIDE A SAFE AND EFFICIENT AIR TRAVEL EXPERIENCE THAT CONVENIENTLY CONNECTS PEOPLE TO PLACES.

WE ACHIEVE THIS THROUGH TEAMWORK, PROFESSIONALISM, AND WARM SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY.

OKAY.

SO IT'S WHAT WE DO, WHO WE DO IT FOR AND HOW WE DO IT.

QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, ALL AIRPORT EMPLOYEES ARE GOING TO BE REQUIRED TO HAVE THESE TATTOOED SOMEWHERE ON THEIR BODIES BEFORE THE END OF THE MONTH.

SO NOT REALLY ALL RIGHT, GOOD.

SO THAT WAS GOOD.

THAT WAS A BIG PIECE OF WORK THAT WE GOT DONE AND WE'RE GOING TO, UH, THE NEXT BOOK IS GOING TO BE FOR IRW.

SO WE DO THE SAME THING OVER THERE.

SO WE'VE GOT A VISION AND A MISSION THERE.

THE TWO AIRPORTS ARE PRETTY DISTINCTLY DIFFERENT.

AND SO WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE DIDN'T COMBINE THE TWO.

I THINK THEY EACH DESERVE THEIR OWN.

SO WE'LL BE WORKING ON THAT, THAT NEXT.

ALRIGHT.

SO A FEW NOTES ON, UH, ON HILTON HEAD, I'M GOING TO BE BRIEFING, UH, PUBLIC FACILITIES COMMITTEE, UH, MONDAY AFTERNOON, STEW.

I APOLOGIZE.

YOU HEARD THE SAME THING YESTERDAY, YOU KNOW, HEAR IT AGAIN ON MONDAY.

SO WE'LL JUST, YOU'LL BE TOTALLY UP TO SPEED BY THE TIME WE'RE DONE WITH ALL THIS.

BUT, UM, AS YOU KNOW, WE'VE HAD A HUGE SURGE OF TRAVELERS ALREADY THIS YEAR.

AND IN FACT, IN MAY, WE PUT OVER OVER 46,000 PEOPLE THROUGH THE TERMINAL, UM, JUST TO GIVE YOU A MARKER FOR THAT IN 2017, THE ENTIRE YEAR, WE PUT 54,000 PEOPLE THROUGH.

SO WE, WE DID THAT, ALMOST DID THAT IN THE MONTH IN THE MONTH OF MAY THIS YEAR.

SO WE'RE PRETTY BUSY.

AND YOU MAY HAVE SEEN SOME OF THE PICTURES.

YOU MIGHT'VE READ SOME OF THE ARTICLES.

YOU MIGHT'VE SEEN SOME OF THE FACEBOOK COMMENTS ABOUT PEOPLE WHO ARE STANDING IN LONG LINES AT THE AIRPORT.

UM, I WILL TELL YOU THAT THAT IS BEING EXPERIENCED AROUND THE COUNTRY RIGHT NOW, AT LEAST IN, IN DESTINATIONS.

I RECEIVED AN EMAIL JUST ABOUT AN HOUR AGO, UH, FROM ONE OF OUR CONSULTANTS.

AND, UM, SHE HAD HEARD FROM A CLIENT IN FLORIDA DOWN AT, UM, FORT WALTON BEACH THAT THEY'RE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING.

YOU KNOW, THEY'VE GOT BACKUPS AT THE TSA CHECKPOINTS.

THEY'VE GOT PEOPLE WHO ARRIVED THREE HOURS EARLY AND STILL MISS THEIR FLIGHTS BECAUSE CHECK BAGGAGE, CAN'T GET SCREENED FAST ENOUGH TO MAKE IT ON THE AIRPLANE.

AND THERE'S TSA, PERSONNEL SHORTAGES AND AIRLINE PERSONNEL SHORTAGES.

SO WE DO HAVE THAT AT OUR AIRPORT, IT'S HAPPENING AT, AT ALL DESTINATION AIRPORTS RIGHT NOW.

SO, UM, WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO REMIND PEOPLE IS, UH,

[00:15:01]

YOU'LL HERE PACK YOUR PATIENTS QUITE A BIT.

WE'RE ASKING PEOPLE TO PACK YOUR PATIENTS AND EXERCISE GOOD SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY.

THAT'S, THAT'S TWO THINGS THAT ARE VERY, VERY IMPORTANT, BUT THE AIRPORTS ALL ALREADY IMPLEMENTED A FEW ITEMS TO HELP OUT WITH THE SURGE.

AND WE FELT IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR US TO LOOK AT OUR OPERATIONS AND OUR INFRASTRUCTURE, AND TO SEE WHAT WE COULD DO TO KIND OF HELP OUT WITH THE, UH, THE LINES AND THE WAITING.

AND, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE GET A LITTLE BIT ANXIOUS, WHETHER THEY'RE COMING OR GOING.

SO WHAT WE'VE DONE SO FAR IS JUST SOME SERIOUS COORDINATION WITH BOTH TSA AND THE AIRLINES.

AND TYPICALLY YOU DON'T MAKE THAT A BULLET ITEM.

YOU KNOW, YOU'RE COORDINATING WITH YOUR STAKEHOLDERS, A BIG DEAL.

EVERYBODY COORDINATES WITH THEIR STAKEHOLDERS, YOU SHOULD, UH, BUT WE'RE REALLY COORDINATING WITH THEM.

I MEAN, WE'RE DOWN WITH THEM EVERY SINGLE DAY, TALKING WITH THEM, MEETING WITH THE FEDERAL SECURITY DIRECTOR, UH, WALKING THROUGH THE TERMINAL WITH HIM, GOING THROUGH THE PROCESS WITH HIM, LOOKING FOR PLACES IN THE WALL THAT WE MAY KNOCK OUT TO MAKE MORE ROOM OR CHANGE, YOU KNOW, A FLOW OF PEOPLE, ALL THOSE KINDS OF THINGS, TALKING ABOUT HIRING, TALKING ABOUT THEIR PROCESS OF RETENTION, BONUSES, AND THINGS LIKE THAT FOR TSA EMPLOYEES, BUT EVERYBODY'S REALLY WORKING HARD, UM, TO TRY TO PROPERLY STAFF, UH, AND THEN MANAGE THE SURGE ON THE TSA SIDE.

WE DO BENEFIT FROM ON THE WEEKENDS FRIDAY, SATURDAY, AND SUNDAY, UH, TSA TO RECEIVES ADDITIONAL PEOPLE FROM THE COLUMBIA AIRPORT TO HILTON HEAD ISLAND, BECAUSE WE'RE ACTUALLY USUALLY PUTTING MORE NUMBERS THROUGH ON THE WEEKENDS THEN THAN COLUMBIA IS.

SO, UH, THEY, THEY DO AUGMENT OUR STAFF HERE, THE TSA STAFF HERE, AND THEN WE'RE THE AIRLINE STATION MANAGERS.

THAT'S CRITICALLY IMPORTANT TOO, BECAUSE THEY'VE THEY'RE MAN.

THEY'RE ACTUALLY MOVING THE PEOPLE.

THEY HAVE TO LOAD THE BAGS, MOVE THE PEOPLE AND GET THE AIRPLANES TURNED AROUND.

SO WE'RE STAYING IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH THEM.

UH, AND I CAN LET YOU KNOW, AS WELL, BUT I SPOKE WITH, UM, WITH OUR CONSULTANT WHO DOES HERE SERVICE DEVELOPMENT FOR US.

AND HE'S BEEN IN TOUCH WITH ALL THE NETWORK PLANNERS FROM THE AIRLINES TO ASK THEM TO KIND OF LOOK AT THE SCHEDULES AND REEVALUATE THE SCHEDULES.

AND GRANTED, SOME OF THOSE ARE SET IN STONE ALREADY BECAUSE OF ADVANCED TICKET SALES AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

BUT WE'VE ASKED THEM BASICALLY, IF THERE'S ANY POSSIBLE WAY, THEY CAN PUT SOME LIGHT IN BETWEEN SOME OF THESE FLIGHTS, A LITTLE BIT OF BREATHING ROOM THAT WOULD BE APPRECIATED BY ALL THE STAKEHOLDERS, INCLUDING THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES.

WE THINK WE THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE TO SPEAK FOR THEM, UH, BECAUSE SOME OF THESE AIRPLANES ARE, YOU KNOW, THEY'RE TURNING THEM IN ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND OTHERS THERE'S TWO MORE READY FOR THE GATE WHEN THEY SEND ONE AWAY.

UH, SO IT GETS PRETTY BUSY.

THEY LIKE TODAY, WE'RE, WE'RE LAUNCHING RECOVER AND AIRPLANES, UM, JUST CONSTANTLY FROM, BY 11 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING TILL ABOUT FOUR 30 IN THE AFTERNOON.

SO IT'S PRETTY STEADY.

UH, SO COORDINATING WITH ALL OF THEM, UH, WE ALSO HAVE UPDATED OUR FITTED SCREEN.

SO THAT'S A SCREEN IN THE TREMBLE THAT SHOWS ALL THE ARRIVING AND DEPARTING FLIGHTS, AND WE'VE ADDED A SCREEN TO THAT.

SO EVERY 30 SECONDS, A NEW SCREEN ROTATES, AND IT SAYS, ESA IS NOW SCREENING.

AND IT LISTS UP TO THREE FLIGHTS, NO MORE THAN THREE FLIGHTS.

AND THOSE ARE FLIGHTS THAT WOULD BE DEPARTING WITHIN THE NEXT 60 MINUTES.

AND SO TSA IS SCREENING PEOPLE WITH BUILDING TO THAT SCREEN.

AND THAT WAY, IF THERE'S SOMEBODY IN LINE ON EARLY, IF THEY'RE ON THE FOURTH FLIGHT AND THAT FLIGHT IS NOT ON THE MONITOR, THEN DSA SENDS THEM OUT ON THE LINE.

AND SO IT'S COME ON BACK IN LINE WHEN YOUR FLIGHT APPEARS ON THE MONITOR.

SO IT DOESN'T COUPLE OF THINGS.

IT GIVES PEOPLE INFORMATION, WHICH WHEN YOU'RE IN LINE FOR TRAVELING, YOU NEED INFORMATION.

AND IT ALSO GIVES THE TSA FOLKS SOMETHING TO LEAN ON WHEN THEY NEED TO PULL PEOPLE ONLINE TO GET THE RIGHT FOLKS BACK IN THE OLD ROOM.

SO, SO FAR IT'S BEEN WORKING PRETTY WELL.

WE HAVE SEEN OUR WAIT TIMES THAT ARE REPORTED BY TSA DECREASED BY A LOT OVER MEMORIAL DAY, WE HAD WAIT TIMES OF MAX WAIT TIMES OF 44 MINUTES A WAIT TIME OF 35 MINUTES.

IT GETS REPORTED TO HEADQUARTERS FOR TSA.

SO WE DID HAVE REPORTS ON THAT WEEKEND.

LAST WEEKEND, WE PUT ALMOST THE SAME NUMBER OF PEOPLE THROUGH THE TERM ROLES WE DID MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, AND THE WAIT TIMES WERE DOWN TO 25 MINUTES AT THE MAX.

SO, SO SOMETHING'S WORKING.

UH, SO THAT'S GOOD.

AND, UM, YOU KNOW, WE'LL, WE'LL CONTINUE TO PRESS AND JUST LOOK AT ALL THE DIFFERENT ISSUES THAT ARE HAPPENING, WHETHER PEOPLE ARE MISSING FLIGHTS, UH, AND THAT, THAT SORT OF THING TO TRY TO TRY TO DO WE CAN, UM, AND ALONG WITH THE FEEDS UPDATES, WE HAVE A NEW PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE TERMINAL THAT EXPLAINS THAT SCREEN.

SO IT, IT TRIES TO DRAW PEOPLE'S ATTENTION TO THAT SCREEN.

SO IT'S NOT JUST A VISUAL THING, BUT IT'S ALSO SOMETHING THAT THEY'LL HEAR AND HOPEFULLY LOOK AROUND THE TERMINAL AND SEE THAT REALIZE THAT IF THEIR FLIGHT IS NOT ON THAT SCREEN, AS BEING SEEN AT THE CHECKPOINT, THEN THEY'RE ENCOURAGED TO RELAX AND WAIT FOR THEIR NUMBER TO COME UP.

SO THERE'S NO NEED TO BE STANDING OUTSIDE, DOWN THE SIDEWALK IN A

[00:20:01]

LINE JUST BECAUSE THE LINE IS THERE.

THEY'RE NOT GONNA GET ANYWHERE.

UM, IF THEIR NUMBER'S NOT ON THAT SCREEN.

SO, UM, AND THEN WE'VE ALSO GOT A NEW PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER, THE COUNTY, WHICH IS FANTASTIC.

UH, CHRIS OAK PARK IS HIS NAME.

HE'S A RETIRED ARMY OFFICER, PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER FROM THE ARMY, AND HE'S ALREADY MAKING A BIG DIFFERENCE WITH THE COUNTY.

UH, HE'S JUST BEEN ON, I THINK ABOUT TWO AND A HALF, THREE WEEKS NOW.

AND, UM, HE CAME TO THE AIRPORT ON TUESDAY AND MET WITH STEVE AND ME.

AND WE WENT THROUGH THE TERMINAL AND HE'S GOING TO COORDINATE WITH, WITH US, WITH THE COUNTY CHANNEL AND KIND OF HELP OUT OUR WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA TO TRY TO COME UP WITH SOME KIND OF THOSE IMPORTANT INFORMATIONAL BULLETS THAT TRAVELERS NEED TO KNOW.

SO WE'LL CONTINUE TO WORK WITH HIM.

SO THAT'S A DEFINITELY A PLUS FOR US, WE'LL BE INSTALLING A NEW MONITOR AND, UM, I DON'T KNOW, STEVE, YOU CAN TELL ME WHEN THAT'S HAPPENING.

I KNOW WE'VE GOT IT ALL WIRED UP AND EVERYTHING, BUT I'M NOT SURE WHEN THAT'S ACTUALLY BEING HUNG.

CAN YOU TELL US THAT? YES OR THE INSTALLER? UM, HE WANTED TO COORDINATE WITH US AFTER 5:00 PM ON ANY DAY DURING THE WEEK.

AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE LAST WORD I GOT WAS THE DAY AFTER 5:00 PM.

HE'LL BE AN AIRPORT TO INSTALL THAT.

SO, UH, I'LL SEE TOMORROW MORNING, UH, HOW IT LOOKS AND HOW IT WORKS.

SO, UH, HOPEFULLY EVERYTHING GOES WELL TO SEE HIM THEN WHEN HE INSTALLS IT AND THAT'S TO, YOU KNOW, COMBAT THE PASSENGER TRAFFIC IS WHY I WANTED TO DO IT LATER ON.

RIGHT.

AND WHAT THAT A MONITOR WILL DISPLAY WILL BE THE, PROBABLY HAVE SOME ADS ON THERE.

WE CAN SELL SOME AD SPACE, BUT ALSO THE IMPORTANT PIECE THAT WILL BE ON THAT, THAT MONITOR WILL BE KIND OF THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL THAT WE'RE SAYING IT WILL BE RENDERINGS OF THE NEW TERMINAL BUILDING WITH THE PROJECT EXPANSION.

SO WILL, WHEN PEOPLE ARE STANDING ALIGN AND THEY'RE SEEING THAT IT'S CROWDED AND PACKED AND MAYBE THERE SOME CONSTRUCTION GOING ON AROUND THEM, THERE'LL BE ABLE TO SEE WHAT'S COMING IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS.

SO HOPEFULLY THAT'LL HELP AS WELL.

AND THEN AS FAR AS GROUND TRANSPORTATION GOES SO CONTINUING, CONTINUING TO TRY THEM TO MOVE FOLKS OFF OF THE SIDEWALK OUT FRONT.

WE WANT THEM TO GET TO THEIR FINAL DESTINATION AS QUICKLY AND PAINLESSLY AS THEY CAN.

WE INFLUENCE THAT ONLY TO A CERTAIN DEGREE.

THERE'S ONLY SO MANY CABS AND UBER DRIVERS.

IT CAN BE IN PURGING RESOURCE SHUTTLES TO SWING THROUGH IF THEY CAN PICK UP PASSENGERS WHO HAVE ARRANGED TRANSPORT COME ON THROUGH, AND WE WELCOME YOU PICKING PEOPLE UP AND TAKING THEM OUT OF THE, UH, OUT OF THE CROWD.

AND WE'RE ALSO COORDINATING WITH, UH, THE BREEZE, THE TROLLEY THAT OPERATES ON THE ISLAND, UH, THROUGH PALMETTO BREEZE, THE BREEZE IS SET UP A SERVICE WHEREBY THEY, THEY ALMOST ACT LIKE, LIKE AN UBER.

SO TO SPEAK.

PASSENGERS CAN ARRANGE IN ADVANCE A PICKUP BY BREEZE TROLLEY.

UH, THERE'S A, A SMALL FEE INVOLVED FOR THAT.

IT'S REALLY PRETTY INEXPENSIVE, BUT, UH, THIS IS THE TROLLEY SYSTEM THAT OPERATES ON THE ISLAND AND THEY'LL WITH ADVANCED NOTICE, THEY WILL BREAK FREE OF, OF A ROOM AND COME AND PICK PEOPLE UP AT THE AIRPORT.

SO ANYTHING THAT WE COULD DO TO INCREASE FLEXIBILITY AND OPTIONS FOR FOLKS WHO ARE TRYING TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THEIR DESTINATION IS ALL WE'RE TRYING TO DO.

SO, UH, AND THEN LAST ON THE LIST IS COMFORT DOG VISITS, AND YOU MIGHT REMEMBER THE PICTURE WE SHOWED LAST TIME OF THE GREAT GENTLE, HAPPY GOLDEN RETRIEVER THAT WALKS THROUGH THE AIRPORT.

UM, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THAT HELPED, YOU KNOW, WHEN YOU HAVE PEOPLE, WHETHER THEY'RE ADULTS OR CHILDREN WHO ARE STANDING IN LINE OR ARE NERVOUSLY WAITING FOR THEIR FLIGHT, OR, YOU KNOW, WAIT TO GET SCREENED, HAVING A HAPPY DOG, WALK AROUND THE TERMINAL WITH A SIGN ON IT THAT SAYS, PLEASE PET ME REALLY MAKES A DIFFERENCE AND IT CAN CALM PEOPLE DOWN.

SO WE HAVE ZUORA WHO WAS OUR COMFORT DOG.

WHO'LL BE IN, I THINK JUST ABOUT EVERY WEEKEND COMING IN TO SEE PEOPLE IN THE TERMINAL.

SO IT'S ALWAYS, UH, ALWAYS GOOD TO SEE A FLUFFY DOG IN THEIR DEGREE.

AND THERE SHE IS, THAT WAS JUST LAST WEEKEND.

SO SHE'S HAPPY TO SEE FOLKS.

AND AS YOU CAN SEE, THESE TRAVELERS ARE, YOU CAN TELL THEY'RE SMILING BEHIND THEIR MASK.

OKAY.

SO WE HAVE ONE NEXT MONTH, THERE WAS AN AVIATION DAY THAT THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB WAS PUTTING ON.

AND, UH, CIVIL AIR PATROL IS KIND OF LEADING THIS EVENT, BUT THERE'S A LOT OF STAKEHOLDERS INVOLVED AND THERE SHOULD BE HOPEFULLY SOME REPRESENTATION FROM THE AIR FORCE AND THE COAST GUARD.

I KNOW MOSQUITO CONTROL IS GOING TO BE DOWN SIGNATURE FLIGHT SUPPORT IS TAKING PART IN THIS, BUT IT'S GOING TO BE A, UH, AN EVENT THAT REALLY TALKS ABOUT DIFFERENT AVIATION CAREERS AND JUST TRY TO OPEN MORE EYES TO THE AVIATION FIELD FOR FOLKS.

SO THERE'LL BE, LIKE I SAID, HOPEFULLY SOME AIRCRAFT OR DISPLAY DOWN HERE.

UH, SO THAT, THAT THOSE STUDENTS CAN SEE JUST THE OPPORTUNITIES OUT THERE.

STEVE'S GOING TO BE HEADING THAT UP FROM OUR SIDE, BUT THE BOARD MEMBERS ARE INTERESTED.

YOU CAN GET, GET IN

[00:25:01]

TOUCH WITH STEVE AND HE'LL GET YOU THE INFORMATION I'D LOVE TO HAVE YOU OUT THERE.

ALL RIGHT.

AND, UH, STATS, WHICH YOU'VE SEEN ANY QUESTIONS ON WHAT WE WENT THROUGH ALREADY, THEN WE CAN DIVE INTO THE NUMBERS.

BRIAN.

SO THEN I GOT A QUESTION THAT I ASKED PERIODICALLY ABOUT HOW WE'RE COMPARING TO SAVANNAH.

UM, YOU MENTIONED THAT THERE'S BEEN A BIG TRAVEL HAS BEEN PRETTY SIGNIFICANT, NOT JUST HERE, THE PARTING AIRCRAFT.

I CAN'T HEAR YOU.

OKAY, GO AHEAD.

OKAY.

UM, I ASKED THIS QUESTION PERIODICALLY ABOUT HOW WE'RE COMPARING TO SAVANNAH.

YOU MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A BIG TRAVEL SURGE.

IT'S NOT JUST HERE, BUT ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.

UM, IS THERE THE SAME KIND OF ISSUES WITH TSA AND WAITING LINES OF SAVANNAH RIGHT NOW THAT WE HAVE? YEAH.

BRIAN, I'LL BE HONEST.

I DON'T KNOW.

I DON'T KNOW.

I'VE, I'VE NOT HAD TIME TO LOOK AT THEM BECAUSE I WAS SO BUSY CHASING IT.

MY CONCERN IS MY CONCERN IS I DON'T WANT US TO BECOME VICTIMS OF OUR OWN SUCCESS.

WE'VE SPENT SO MANY YEARS NOW TRYING TO ATTRACT PEOPLE TO COME INTO HILTON HEAD.

AND I'M BEGINNING TO SENSE THAT THERE ARE NEGATIVE COMMENTS ON THE ISLAND ABOUT HOW DIFFICULT IT'S NOW BECOMING TO USE HILTON HEAD AIR, OR IT DIDN'T ARRIVE FOR ALL THE REASONS YOU ALREADY BROUGHT OUT.

UM, SO I THINK IT'S SOMETHING WORTH LOOKING AT BECAUSE I'D HATE TO SEE ALL THE GOOD STUFF THAT WE'VE DONE OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS TO BRING PEOPLE HERE AND HAVE THEM ONLY GO BACK TO THIS.

YEAH, YOU'RE RIGHT.

AND THERE ARE SOME COMMENTS THERE THAT, THAT WE'VE HEARD AS WELL VIA SOCIAL MEDIA AND OTHERWISE, OTHERWISE.

UM, AND SO THAT, THAT'S WHY THE, THE LIST OF ITEMS THAT I SHOWED YOU BEFORE, UM, HAS BEEN DONE.

AND WE'VE REALLY BEEN THROWING OURSELVES AT THIS, UH, HEADLONG AND ALL OUR ENERGY HAS BEEN GOING INTO THIS.

SO, UH, WE'RE DOING EVERYTHING THAT WE CAN, UH, THAT WE KNOW HOW TO DO.

AND, UH, WE'RE ALSO WORKING WITH COUNTY COUNCIL AND COUNTY ADMINISTRATION, UH, TO WORK ON OTHER THINGS AND REALLY HOPEFULLY TO SPEED UP THE, UH, THE FINAL, YOU KNOW, PLANS AND THEN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW TERMINAL, BECAUSE WE THINK THAT'S, THAT'S GOING TO BE A HELP AS WELL, BUT, YOU KNOW, WE'RE, WE'LL DO OUR BEST TO MANAGE THE CROWDS.

UM, EVERY IDEA THAT WE HEAR WE'RE THROWING AT THE WALL AND SOME OF THEM STICK AND SOME OF THEM DON'T.

UM, BUT WE'RE TRYING TO DO WHAT WE CAN TO MAKE FOLKS UNDERSTAND.

WELL, I GUESS ANOTHER GOOD, GOOD UPDATE THERE.

UM, WE JUST GOT ASSIGNED CONTRACT FOR THE CONCESSIONS GROUP.

THAT'LL BE COMING IN.

SO THAT'LL BE HAPPENING PROBABLY IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.

IT SHOULDN'T BE TOO LONG BEFORE THEY MOVE IN.

THEY'VE ALREADY BEEN WORKING ON SETTING UP SOME OF THEIR INFRASTRUCTURE.

SO THE OTHER GOOD NEWS STORY IS, AS PEOPLE ARE WAITING OR IF THEY'VE HAD TO WAIT ON THE TAXI WAY BEFORE THEY GET A GATE, WHEN THEY COME INTO THE TERMINAL, THERE'LL BE COLD DRINKS AND SOME FOOD AVAILABLE FOR THEM AS WELL.

THAT'S DEFINITELY SEVERAL STEPS UP FROM THE VENDING MACHINES.

DON, DO YOU MIND IF I JUMP IN FOR JUST A SECOND ON THAT? ONE OTHER THING I WANTED TO MENTION IS JUST, YEAH, GO AHEAD, STEVE, BUT I HAVE ONE MORE COMMENT WHEN YOU'RE DONE.

YES, SIR.

SORRY ABOUT THAT, BRIAN, IF I COULD ADD TO THAT, I KNOW JOHN IS EXTREMELY BUSY, BUT I'VE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH, UH, MYRTLE BEACH INTERNATIONAL.

UM, AND THEY HAVE THREE CHECK POINTS AND THEY ARE SEEING, UH, THE SAME, IF NOT MORE FRUSTRATION, UM, WITH THE LONG LINES AND THE, THE CONFUSION, I THINK THEIR WORD WAS CONFUSION.

UH, AND THAT'S WHY WE'RE TRYING TO NAIL DOWN THE COMMUNICATION PIECE.

UM, AND ALSO SPEAK TO A LOT OF, UH, FEEDBACK COMMENTS.

I PREFER TO CALL THEM BACK AND KIND OF GIVE THEM THE STORY OF THE AIRPORT HERE IN HILTON HEAD.

AND WHEN THEY SAY THEY'RE FRUSTRATED AND THEY'RE GOING TO GO TO SAVANNAH, UM, SOMETIMES, AND I'VE GOTTEN THREE OR FOUR OF THEM IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS, THEY COME BACK TO ME AND SAY, YEP.

SAVANNAH IS JUST ADD, WE'RE GOING TO STICK WITH HILTON HEAD.

SO JUST THE PUBLIC COMMENTS ARE THEIR INITIAL THOUGHT IS I'M UPSET.

I'M GOING TO GO TO SAVANNAH FOR NOW ON.

AND THEN WHEN THEY DO GO TO SAVANNAH, THEY REALIZE THAT THIS IS NOT JUST A HILTON HEAD PROBLEM.

IT'S A, IT'S A, IT'S A NATIONWIDE PROBLEM.

SO THAT'S JUST A LITTLE EXTRA, EXTRA ON TOP OF YOUR QUESTION.

THAT HELPS ME BECAUSE THAT GIVES ME A MARKER TO, UM, TO COMPARE IT TO.

BUT ONE OTHER COMMENT I WANTED TO MAKE THAT I'M NOT SURE ALL OF YOU ARE AWARE OF WHICH AGAIN TELLS YOU HOW MUCH THINGS HAVE CHANGED HERE IS.

SO FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT AREN'T FAMILIAR WITH THIS AT THE BUSIEST AIRPORTS IN THE COUNTRY TO, UM, PROVIDE FOR MEANINGFUL AND ORDERLY TRAFFIC FLOW IN AND OUT OF AIRPORTS.

MANY OF THE MAJOR AIRPORTS UNDERGO WHAT'S CALLED THE GROUND STOP, WHERE IF YOU'RE GOING INTO A REAL BUSY AIRPORT, YOU'RE DEPARTING CITY MAY HOLD YOU ON THE GROUND FOR X AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE YOU CAN EVEN LEAVE TO GET TO YOUR ARRIVING CITY.

AS OF THE LAST WEEK AND A HALF HILTON HILTON

[00:30:01]

HEAD ACTUALLY HAS GROUND STOPS.

NOW FOR FLIGHTS, FOR EXAMPLE, THAT ARE COMING FROM DALLAS FORT WORTH, OR EVEN CHICAGO, THAT PLANE MAY BE ACTUALLY DELAYED ON THE GROUND AT THOSE AIRPORTS, BECAUSE WE'RE COMPLETELY SATURATED HERE THAT SHOWS YOU HOW BUSY WE'VE GOTTEN HERE IN THE LAST MONTH.

YEAH, THAT'S GOOD.

GOOD POINT, BRIAN.

WE, I KNOW WE HAD A GROUND STOP OVER MEMORIAL DAY AND IT WAS THE FIRST EVER THAT WE'VE HAD, THAT WAS CAUSED BY US AND NOT BY SOMEBODY ELSE.

SO WE HAD NINE AIRCRAFT ON THE GROUND, NINE COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFT ON THE GROUND.

AT ONE TIME WE CAN DATE THREE.

SO IF THERE'S ANYBODY OUT THERE DOUBTS THAT WE NEEDED A NEW TERMINAL, UM, HOPEFULLY WE'RE OPEN TO THE EYES WE NEED AS FAST AS WE CAN.

OKAY.

THANK YOU FOR THAT, BRIAN.

GOOD, GOOD QUESTIONS.

THE COMMENTS ARE ALL RIGHT.

SO WE'VE GOT THE STATS UP ON THE BOARD NOW, SO YOU CAN SEE THOSE.

OKAY, WELL, THEY HAVE GAS AND, UH, AND JET CONTINUE TO TREND UP YEAR OVER YEAR AND IN GENERAL UP.

AND THEN HERE'S YOUR COMMERCIAL JET FUEL.

THAT'S INCREDIBLE SURGE IN COMMERCIAL JET FUEL.

AND THAT JUST SHOWS YOU WHERE WE'RE DOING A, YOU KNOW, 144 COMMERCIAL FLIGHTS A WEEK.

I THOUGHT WERE BUSY TWO YEARS AGO WHEN WE WERE DOING THE 65 OR 67, AND WE'RE DEALING 144 A WEEK NOW, INCREDIBLY BUSY SIGNATURE.

I DON'T KNOW IF SIGNATURE'S ON THE LINE, BUT I'VE GOT TO TIP MY HAT TO THEM AGAIN BECAUSE THEIR FUEL AND EVERY ONE OF THOSE PLUS ALL THE GENERAL AVIATION AIRCRAFT.

SO THEY ARE CONSTANTLY MAKING SURE THAT THEY'VE GOT PLENTY OF FUEL.

UM, SO, YOU KNOW, WE DON'T NEED ANY MORE PIPELINE HACKS AND THINGS LIKE THAT BECAUSE WE, WE GOTTA HAVE EVERY DROP OF FUEL HERE.

YOU'D SEE WHAT THAT TOTAL FLOW IS LIKE FOR THE MONTH OF MAY OVER 400,000 GALLONS.

AND THEN YOU'RE IN PAYMENTS AND DEPLOYMENTS.

AGAIN, I MENTIONED THOSE TOTAL NUMBERS FOR MAY WERE OVER 46,000 PEOPLE THROUGH THE TERMINAL.

UM, THAT'S A LOT OF FOLKS USING THE FACILITY.

SO ALL OF THE INFRASTRUCTURE GETS STRESSED.

EVERYTHING FROM ONE OF THE PEOPLE LAND, THE TAXI WAYS, UH, THEY'RE FULL.

AND THEN YOU COME IN THROUGH THE TERMINAL AND EVERYTHING IS FULL AND EVERYTHING IS GETTING USED.

SO WE WERE READY TO BUILD PARKING, LOTS, FILLING UP RENTAL CARS ARE DEPLETED.

SO WE NEED, WE NEED A LITTLE BIT MORE OF EVERYTHING HERE.

AND THEN TOTAL PASSENGERS, YOU CAN SEE HERE, THEY'RE ALL TRENDING UP AS WELL.

KEEP IN MIND MAY WAS THE FIRST MONTH FOR UNITED.

SO THAT'S THE BLUE.

OH, SURE.

WE'LL SEE A BIGGER NUMBER IN GENE FOR THEM AS WELL.

SO EXCELLENT NUMBERS THAT TURNS INTO REVENUE, WHICH IS GREAT.

AND, UH, WE'LL BE REINVESTING THAT REVENUE BACK INTO THE AIRPORT.

ALL RIGHT.

QUESTIONS ON THOSE.

ALL RIGHT.

I WILL STOP SHARING SCREEN HERE.

ALL RIGHT.

WELL, WE SHOULD BE BACK AND THAT FINISHES UP MY REPORT AS THE CHAIRMAN BACK TO YOU.

THERE WE GO.

TRYING TO TURN IT BACK ON.

THANK YOU, JOHN.

WELL DONE AS ALWAYS.

ALL RIGHT.

UH, LET'S SEE.

WE'LL MOVE ON.

CAN YOU HEAR ME OKAY.

OKAY, GOOD.

LET'S MOVE ON TO UNFINISHED BUSINESS.

I DON'T KNOW THAT WE HAVE ANY UNFINISHED BUSINESS.

UM, AND THEN WE'LL MOVE ON TO NEW BUSINESS BACK TO YOU, JOHN, FOR SOME ACTION ITEMS, I BELIEVE.

YES, WE DO HAVE.

LET'S SEE.

I THINK WE JUST GOT, NO, IT WAS BACK UP HERE.

[10. HILTON HEAD ISLAND AIRPORT (HXD) – JANITORIAL SERVICES –LOW COUNTRY COMMERCIAL SERVICES – EMERGENCY PURCHASE VOTE]

YES.

THE ONLY ACTION ITEM THAT WE NEED YOUR VOTE ON THIS MONTH IS FOR THE JANITORIAL SERVICE.

UM, AGAIN, LIKE I GO BACK TO THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE GOING THROUGH THE TERMINAL.

UM, EVERY PIECE OF OUR INFRASTRUCTURE IS BEING STRESSED AND THE EXISTING, UH, JANITORIAL FOLKS, THE STAFF IS, UH, THEY WORK WITH A COUNTYWIDE CONTRACT.

UM, THERE ARE A BIG FIRM THAT WORKS IN MULTIPLE STATES, BUT SOMETIMES HE GETS SOME GOOD THINGS FOR THE BIG FIRM.

AND SOMETIMES YOU GET SOME NOT SO GOOD THINGS FOR THE BIG FIRM.

SO WE'RE SEEING A LOT MORE, NOT SO GOOD THAN GOOD.

SO WE'RE LETTING THE BIG FIRM GO.

WE'VE BROKEN AWAY FROM THE COUNTY CONTRACT ON THAT AND WE'RE GOING OUR OWN WAY.

SO WE ARE GOING THROUGH, WE ACTUALLY DID THIS ONE TIME AND WE DID NOT GET WHAT WE'RE AFTER WE GOT MORE BIG COMPANIES LOOKING AT IT AND FRANKLY, REALLY NOT ABLE TO COMMIT TO WHAT WE NEEDED FOR LEVEL OF CLEANING.

AND SO WE'VE, WE CANCELED THAT BID.

WE DIDN'T ACCEPT ANY OF THE OFFERS AND WE'RE GOING TO WORK WITH AT LEAST ON A SHORT-TERM BASIS ON A KIND OF A FILL THE GAP BASIS.

A LOCAL COMPANY THAT'S BEEN IN AND HAS WATCHED THE TERMINAL OPERATIONS.

THEY UNDERSTAND HOW THINGS WORK.

UH, SO LOW COUNTRY COMMERCIAL SERVICES IS A GROUP THAT WE'VE CHOSEN TO WORK WITH ON CAVA MONTH TO MONTH BASIS FOR

[00:35:01]

A MAX OF 90 DAYS.

WHILE WE REBID THIS OPPORTUNITY AGAIN AND SEE WHO ELSE MIGHT BE INTERESTED, BUT THESE GUYS HAVE COMMITTED TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A LEVEL OF SERVICE THAT WE NEED AN INTERNAL, AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, PUTTING THAT MANY PEOPLE THROUGH ON A DAILY BASIS, THE TRAUMA REQUIRES NON-STOP WORK, AND THAT'S NOT WHAT WE'RE GETTING OUT OF THE OLD FIRM.

SO THAT'S WHAT WE'RE AFTER.

AND SO THIS WILL GO TO FROM YOU, UH, THEN ONTO PUBLIC FACILITIES COMMITTEE ON MONDAY, JOHN, I GOT A QUESTION.

SO THE 90 DAY PROPOSAL THAT YOU SHOW IS STILL TURNED ON $695 A DAY.

DO WE KNOW HOW THAT BREAKS OUT TO WHAT WE WERE SPENDING WITH THE PREVIOUS COMPANY? WERE WE ABLE TO BREAK IT OUT PER HXD? HOW MUCH WAS BEING ATTRIBUTED FOR THE COST PREVIOUSLY? YEAH.

TH THIS IS SIGNIFICANTLY MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE EXISTING CONTRACT, BUT THE EXISTING CONTRACT WAS GETTING US PROBABLY ABOUT, I WOULD BE GENEROUS TO TELL YOU WE'RE GETTING 20% OF WHAT WE NEEDED.

SO YES, THIS IS MORE EXPENSIVE.

THIS IS A, UH, WHAT DO WE FIGURE? I THINK THIS IS STEVE, CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG.

I WANT TO SAY IT'S SOMEWHERE AROUND 60,000, I THINK FOR THE 90 DAYS, 66 62, 5 0 5.

YEAH.

THANKS.

AND I HAVE A RESTAURANT.

YEAH.

UM, AND DOES THAT INCLUDE A WASTE DISPOSAL, UH, FOR THE 60, 25 OF FIVE? OR IS THAT A SEPARATE CONTRACT? WELL, WE'VE ALREADY GOT THAT SEPARATELY CONTRACTED.

OKAY.

AND I ASSUME THAT AFTER 90 DAYS GIVES YOU TIME TO OBVIOUSLY PUT SOME BEDS TOGETHER, I ASSUME YOU SENT OUT A REQUEST FOR PRICING, RIGHT.

OKAY, GOOD.

AND HOPEFULLY LOW COUNTRY WOULD DO A GOOD JOB AND THEN, UM, MAYBE PUT THEIR BID IN AND 90 DAYS FOR A LONGTERM.

CORRECT.

ALRIGHT.

SO I NEED TO, UM, I GUESS THE FIRST THING WE SHOULD DO IS WE SHOULD, UM, OPEN IT UP FOR, WE NEED TO VOTE ON THIS CORRECT JOB.

YES, I DO NEED YOUR, GO AHEAD.

ALL RIGHT.

SO I THINK THE FIRST ONE, SHE WAS OPEN BEFORE FOR ANY DISCUSSIONS OR QUESTIONS, IF ANYBODY HAS ANY QUESTIONS OR DISCUSSION FOR THIS ITEM, IT APPEARS THERE'S NO QUESTIONS.

UM, SO WE NEED A MOTION FROM THE FLOOR TO APPROVE THE 90 DAY PROPOSAL, 62,505, UM, FOR THE HILTON HEAD AIRPORT JANITORIAL SERVICES WITH LOW COUNTRY COMMERCIAL SERVICES.

UM, THIS IS DESIGNATED AN EMERGENCY PURCHASE, UM, JUST BECAUSE OF, UH, THE, THE DESPERATE NEED FOR IT.

I HAVE A MOTION FROM ANYBODY I'LL GIVE THE EMOTION MOTION.

OKAY.

I CAN'T SEE EVERYBODY.

HOW DO I CHANGE THAT, JOHN? UH, THERE'S A VIEW UP IN YOUR UPPER, RIGHT? USUALLY.

AND IF YOU GO TO GRID VIEW, AND THEN YOU MIGHT HAVE TO JUST DRAG YOUR SCREEN TO MAKE IT BIGGER.

YEAH.

I JUST GOT IT.

THANK YOU.

OKAY.

SO, UM, WE'LL GIVE THE MOTION TO BRIAN AND THEN DO I HAVE A SECOND FROM THE BOARD? OKAY.

WE GOT A SECOND.

WAS THAT LESLIE? SO ALL IN FAVOR, UH, BY SAYING AYE OR SHOW OF HANDS AND ALL OPPOSED A BOAT BY NO, OR THUMBS DOWN.

UH, I VOTED, YES.

SO THE MOTION, UM, APPROVED.

SO THAT TAKES CARE OF THAT BUSINESS AND THE ACTION ITEMS. LET'S

[11. CHAIRMAN UPDATE]

SEE.

AND, UM, I DON'T HAVE A LIST OF EVERYBODY'S COMMITTEE.

I'M NOT SURE WHO THE COMMITTEE CHAIRMANS ARE.

AND I KNOW, UM, SO WHAT DO COMMITTEE REPORT CHAIRMAN UPDATE? UM, SO IF YOUR COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN, JUST GO AHEAD AND RAISE YOUR HAND, TAKE THE FLOOR.

AND THAT GIVES US AN UPDATE.

I KNOW CHRIS BUTLER IS THE CHAIRMAN FOR BUFORD COUNTY ARW RIGHT NOW, AND HE'S NOT PRESENT.

SO WE'LL, UH, PASS THAT COMMITTEE OFF TO THE NEXT MEETING.

ANYBODY ELSE? NO UPDATES FROM COMMITTEES.

AND, UH, SO LET'S DO THIS, UM, FOR THE NEXT MEETING AND WHOEVER THE COMMITTEE CHAIRMANS ARE.

LET'S PUT SOME, MAYBE SOME ACTIONS TOGETHER, SOME IDEAS, SOME, UM, WISHLIST OF SOME ITEMS THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE WORKING ON OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS.

UM, AND IF YOU COULD SUBMIT THOSE TO ELENA PRIOR TO THE MEETING SO WE CAN DISTRIBUTE TO EVERYBODY.

AND THEN WE'LL TALK ABOUT IT.

GO AHEAD, HOWARD.

UH, TREY, I'LL SEND YOU A LIST OF ALL THE COMMITTEES AND MEMBERS.

SO YOU HAD IT.

YOU'LL HAVE IT FOR NEXT MONTH.

I DON'T HAVE THAT.

[12. CITIZEN COMMENT]

ALL RIGHT.

I DON'T REMEMBER 12 CITIZEN COMMENTS.

UH, IF THERE ARE ANY CITIZEN COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC AGAIN, THAT, UM, WILL BE RE RECOGNIZED YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF,

[00:40:01]

UH, WHO YOU'RE WITH, AND THEN YOU'LL HAVE THREE MINUTES TO SPEAK TO.

THE FLOOR IS OPEN FOR ANY CITIZEN COMMENTS.

ALL RIGHT, GOOD.

YOU'RE MAKING THIS EASY FOR ME.

UM, NEXT ITEM IS ACTUALLY A GERMAN, SO, UH, I NEED A MOTION TO ADJOURN THE MEETING HOWARD AND I NEED A SECOND.

AND THE MEETING IS ADJOURNED.

THANK YOU, NICK.

FUTURE MEETING THE NEXT VIRTUAL MEETING.

UM, AND JOHN BRIEFLY TALKED ABOUT IT.

WE'LL JUST TRY TO UPDATE THE BOARD.

I PERSONALLY WOULD LIKE TO GET BACK INTO A ROOM AND HAVE MEETINGS IN PERSON PERSONALLY.

UM, UH, BUT EVERYBODY NEEDS TO FEEL COMFORTABLE.

WE STILL COULD TIE IN THE WEB LINKS, OBVIOUSLY WITH THE MEETING.

UM, BUT OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE VIRTUAL

[14. THE NEXT VIRTUAL MEETING WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, JULY 15, 2021, 1:30 PM.]

AGAIN, THAT WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, JULY 15TH, UM, 2021 AT 1:30 PM.

AND, UH, SO THAT BEING SAID, THE MEETING'S ADJOURNED AND OVER AND EVERYBODY HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND.
