CLOSED CAPTIONING PROVIDED BY BUFORD COUNTY.
ALL RIGHT, I'M GOING TO PASS MY NAME AROUND THE PASS INTRODUCTIONS OVER TO CIANO, I'M JUST GOING TO START REAL QUICK AND THEN WE CAN GO AROUND THE ROOM AND INTRODUCE OURSELVES. BUT I WANTED TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT THAT SINCE OUR LAST MEETING, WHICH WAS JANUARY OF TWENTY TWENTY FIVE, OUR COUNTY HAS A NEW ORGANIZATIONAL CHART AND SOME THINGS CHANGE. SO PHIL FOOTE IS NO LONGER OVER PARKS AND RECREATION.
WE NOW HAVE THE ASSISTANT COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR, CHUCK ATKINS, WHO IS OVER COMMUNITY SERVICES. AND NO, I DON'T HAVE A SPEECH PREPARED.
FIRST, I WANT TO SAY WELCOME BACK.
AND IT'S SO WONDERFUL TO HAVE EVERYBODY TOGETHER AND WE'RE NOT HAVING TO WEAR MASKS.
SO THAT'S A GOOD THING TO PUT A HISTORY ON MY PART.
AND I SERVED ON THE PARKING SERVICES BOARD 24 YEARS AGO AND SAW THE GREATER, I GUESS, PARKSON RIGHT, BECOMING PART OF THE COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT LAST YEAR WAS A WONDERFUL THING. I CAN TELL YOU THAT SHANNON'S PASSION FOR PARKS AND REC IS CONTAGIOUS.
LIKE YOU DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW THAT.
RIGHT? AND COMING OUT OF COVID FIRST PART OF THIS YEAR, STARTING WITH COUNTY COUNCIL'S RETREAT, THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF MOMENTUM AND A LOT OF PUSH FOR INCREASED SERVICES FROM PARKS AND REC BRINGING THINGS BACK UP TO A HIGH STANDARD AS FAR AS OUR FACILITIES ARE CONCERNED, BUDGET ALLOCATIONS AND WHAT WE FOR THIS PARTICULAR FACILITY.
I'M NOT GOING TO STEAL YOUR THUNDER IN YOUR REPORT, BUT A LOT OF MONEY HAS BEEN ALLOCATED AND COUNCIL IS DEDICATED TO MOVE THINGS FORWARD IN PARKS AND REC.
I'M HAPPY TO SEE ALL OF YOU HERE IN PERSON.
AND I LOOK FORWARD TO TALKING WITH EACH OF YOU.
OK, DO YOU WANT TO GO AROUND THE OUTSIDE FIRST AND HOW ARE YOU? OK, WELL WHY DON'T WE START THEN? WHY DON'T WE JUST GO AROUND, INTRODUCE YOURSELF FIRST WHERE YOU'RE AT.
LET US KNOW THAT, YOU KNOW, JUST AN ATHLETIC SUPERVISOR THERE, LIKE KEVIN REYNOLDS, ATHLETIC SUPERVISOR, EVEN MERIT SOME OF THAT FLEXIBILITY FROM SOME ATHLETIC DIRECTOR.
AND THERE ARE WORRIES ABOUT FRANK SOLE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE NATIONAL RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION. THAT WAS PART OF A GROUP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETIC AND JOE JOHN ANDERSON COOPER UNION, SORT OF, YOU KNOW, TRYING TO LEARN HOW TO A.
LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR THAT, THE CHALLENGE FOR DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND REC, AMANDA SNEVE, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR IMMIGRATION RIGHT NOW, DAVE MACK, NEWLY APPOINTED BOARD MEMBER OF THE HILL AND A FORMER EMPLOYER WHO WON'T GO AROUND THE MILITARY RIGHT TO HEALTH CARE FOR HIMSELF WITH BROAD VISION FOR THE WAR.
WELL, IT'S GREAT TO HAVE EVERYBODY BACK.
DARRELL, YOUR ENTHUSIASM IS OVERWHELMING, AS YOU KNOW.
BUT CAN I HAVE SOMEONE APPROVE THE AGENDA THAT WE HAVE TODAY OR MAKE A MOTION AND WE APPROVE THE AGENDA FOR THAT SAME DISCUSSION ON HIGH POST AND GREAT, UM, PUBLIC COMMENT.
DO WE HAVE ANYBODY HERE THAT IS GOING TO THE VOTE COUNT? I GUESS NOT. I COULD WRITE A REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF THE JANUARY MINUTES.
I LOOK THROUGH THESE MINUTES AND I'LL BE HONEST, A LOT OF THIS STUFF REALLY STRETCHING MY BRAIN HERE BECAUSE IT WAS, YOU KNOW, 16 MONTHS AGO.
SO I DIDN'T REALLY HAVE ANYTHING WHEN I WENT THROUGH IT.
BUT DOES ANYBODY ELSE HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT THE MEETING? THIS? TO HAVE EMOTION, SOMEONE MAKE A MOTION TO APPROVE THEM, SO SECOND, IN ANY DISCUSSIONS, RIGHT, ALL OF THEIR, I SUPPOSE.
ALL RIGHT. YOU KNOW, LIKE, I SHOULDN'T BE HEARING THE FIRST REPORT AFTER SIX MONTHS.
[00:05:10]
FRANK SOLE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, HILLHEAD, HEAD OF RECREATION ASSOCIATION.SO I'VE HAD A LENGTHY SPEECH TO TALK ABOUT 16 MONTHS.
WARSAW NARROWED IT DOWN TO THAT.
WE REOPENED A YEAR AGO BASED ON REQUIREMENTS PUT FORTH BY THE CDC AND THE GOVERNOR AND OTHER THINGS. AND WHEN WE REOPEN, THAT INCLUDES A POOL FOR THOSE WHO WE DON'T KNOW.
THE REC CENTER WAS FULLY REMODELED, OPENED IN 2019 WITH THE SECOND BUILDING.
WE OPENED THE PLAYGROUND AND SOME OTHER THINGS AND THAT WAS ALL CLOSED DOWN.
BUT THEN WE MOVED INTO REOPENING IN LAST YEAR.
ABOUT THIS TIME BY SEPTEMBER, WE WERE FULLY OPEN, FULLY OPERATING IN OUR SCHEDULES BACK UP. WE OPENED ON A LIMITED SCHEDULE BASIS THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER MONTHS.
BY SEPTEMBER, WE'RE FULLY GOING.
ONE THING THAT WAS KIND OF UNIQUE THAT WE DID OVER THE FIRST FEW MONTHS BEGINNING IN SEPTEMBER, WE ALSO WERE A SITE FOR VIRTUAL LEARNING AND WE HAD ABOUT 50 KIDS ON A DAILY BASIS COMING TO THE REC CENTER.
WE NEED THE EXTRA EXTRA EFFORT TO PUT IN SOME ADDITIONAL WI-FI THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING AND WORKED OUT VERY WELL.
AND WE TRANSITIONED INTO THE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM WHEN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT WENT INTO WENT BACK TO FACE LEARNING AND SOME OTHER THINGS.
SO ONE OF THE THINGS TO BREAK THIS DOWN INTO SEGMENTS, BECAUSE WE HAVE SEVERAL DIFFERENT SEGMENTS THAT WE UTILIZE AT THE WREXHAM ONE BEING OUR SENIOR PROGRAMS, WE ACTUALLY DID OPEN OUR SENIOR CENTER BACK IN SEPTEMBER AND IT WORKED OUT REALLY WELL.
AND WE KIND OF MOVED FORWARD WITH THE PROGRAMING.
WE HAVE A NEW DIRECTOR NOW AND KIND OF GOT A NEW FOCUS HERE WITH NOT ONLY UTILIZING THE FITNESS CENTER, WE HAVE THE REC CENTER, BUT CREATING SOME NEW FITNESS PROGRAMS AT THE SENIOR CENTER AND KIND OF TAKING A NEW APPROACH TO THE PERSON THAT CAME TO US.
SHERRY BRONSKY ACTUALLY WORKED AT SUN CITY FOR 20 YEARS.
SO THE FITNESS COMPONENTS WHO WERE REALLY LUCKY TO HAVE HER, CAN BE ABLE TO MOVE THOSE TYPE OF PROGRAMS FOR KIDS WHO ARE EXTREMELY EXCITED ABOUT THAT REC CENTER ITSELF.
IT'S BEEN LIKE A SLOW MOVING TRAIN WHEN IT COMES TO THE FITNESS COMPONENT.
WE HAVE MORE AND MORE. AND OBVIOUSLY WE HAD THE MASCORD AND SOME OTHER THINGS TO DEAL WITH AND WE DEALT WITH THAT AND WE KEPT MOVING FORWARD EVERY DAY.
OUR MEMBERSHIPS HAVE BEEN PRETTY CONSISTENT.
WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO YOU KNOW, WE'VE GOT SOME NEW PEOPLE COMING ON AND SOME OTHER THINGS.
SO OUR CLASSES ACTUALLY HAVE BEEN AT THE SAME LEVEL BEGINNING IN JANUARY AS THEY WERE BEFORE WE SHUT DOWN, WHICH MAKES IT PRETTY, PRETTY GOOD FOR US.
YOU SPORTS. I'M JUST GOING TO TOUCH ON THREE.
BUT OUR NUMBER ONE FASTEST GROWING SPORT IS FENCING IS CRAZY.
BUT THE WOMAN WHO DOES THE FENCING CLASS, PATTY, SHE'S BEEN AFTER US FOR YEARS TO DO IT, GOT THE NEW BUILDING, GETTING THE PROGRAM READY TO CRANK UP.
WE HAD TO SHUT DOWN. AND THEN WHEN WE CAME BACK, WE GOT THE PROGRAM GOING.
BUT IT'S LIKE THE FASTEST GROWING SPORT.
SO IF YOU GUYS FOLLOW US ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE, THERE'S A GROUP OF TEN LITTLE GIRLS THAT ARE FENCING. I MEAN, SO I MEAN, THAT'S COOL.
AND IT'S ACTUALLY AN OPPORTUNITIES AWAY FROM SOCCER, AWAY FROM TRADITIONAL SPORTS.
BUT THAT'S WHAT'S GOING ON THERE.
AND OUR BASKETBALL PROGRAM ACTUALLY GREW THIS YEAR BEFORE WE SHUT DOWN.
LAST YEAR, WE HAD ABOUT 250 WERE UP TO 300 KIDS THIS YEAR.
SO WE SAW THAT AT LEAST OUR INDOOR ACTIVITIES WERE GROWING A LITTLE BIT AND ACTUALLY GETTING ABOVE THAT PRE COVID LEVEL.
WHEN WE SHUT DOWN LAST YEAR, WE HAD FIVE HUNDRED KIDS SIGNED UP.
WE ONLY HAD THREE HUNDRED. AND IN THE SPRING TO THE FALL, EXCUSE ME, BUT WE HAD FIVE HUNDRED BACK HERE IN THE SPRING.
SO WE SEE MORE AND MORE PEOPLE COMING OUT AND BEING INVOLVED IN MORE ACTIVITY.
SO WE'RE PRETTY EXCITED ABOUT THAT.
NOW THE POOL IS BEEN GOING GREAT GUNS EVER SINCE WE OPENED UP.
WE DIDN'T PUT THE DOME UP THIS YEAR, WHICH WORKED OUT REALLY WELL.
AND A LOT OF THE REASON WE DIDN'T PUT THE DOME UP IS BECAUSE WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN AND IF WE WERE GOING TO BE SHUT DOWN AGAIN.
YOU KNOW, MY POOL STAFF LOOKS LIKE THE SMARTEST PEOPLE ON EARTH BECAUSE WE TOOK DOWN THE DOME TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE OVERALL SHUTDOWN.
IF THE DOME WOULD STILL OPEN UP, WE WOULD HAVE HAD TO DOME UP AT LEAST THROUGH JUNE AND BEFORE WE COULD EVEN GET IT DOWN, BECAUSE A COMPANY THAT HELPS US TAKE IT DOWN WEREN'T SENDING ANY PEOPLE OUT TO WORK ON DOME.
SO WE KIND OF LUCKED OUT, WE HAD THE DOME DOWN AND SO WE'RE ABLE TO GO INTO OUTSIDE SWIMMING, WHICH WE DID ALL WINTER, AND IT WORKED OUT PRETTY WELL.
IT WAS JUST LIKE SEVERAL YEARS AGO BEFORE WE HAD THE DOME, DIDN'T HAVE THE DOME BACK UP IN THE TRANSITION. SO IT WORKED OUT WELL.
YOU KNOW, OUR SWIM LESSONS WERE FOR THE SPRING.
WE ANTICIPATE THEM TO BE FULL AGAIN THIS SUMMER.
AND WE HOSTED SWIM TEAM DOWN ON THE BEACH TODAY, BUT WE ALSO HOSTED THE HIGH SCHOOL SWIM
[00:10:03]
TEAMS AND OTHERS OUT THERE.SO WE'RE BUSY. THAT'S ONE THING THAT DIDN'T REALLY KIND OF TAIL OFF BECAUSE OF KOVEN TO TALK A LITTLE BIT, PICKLEBALL, BECAUSE COURTS ARE FULL.
AND SO ALL I CAN SAY, THEY'VE BEEN FULL SINCE WE'VE BEEN OPENED BACK UP.
LOTS OF PEOPLE OUT THERE PLAYING PICK A BALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINTERTIME.
YOU COULD SEE 70 TO 75 PEOPLE AT THE REC CENTER ALONE PLAYING PICK A BALL ON A DAILY BASIS. SO THAT'S IT'S KIND OF GREAT.
AND HOPEFULLY THAT THAT WILL CONTINUE.
WE DID GET BACK INTO THE EVENTS BUSINESS, AND THAT'S AROUND OCTOBER.
WE DID A COUPLE OF DRIVE BY EVENTS.
HALLOWEEN, THEY DROVE THROUGH, DROVE THROUGH SHELTERED COVE.
I CALLED THEM ALL BUT XEROGRAPHY MITCHELTON SHELTERED CODE.
AND WE HANDED OUT CANDY AND WE DID A COUPLE OF THINGS LIKE THAT FOR CHRISTMAS TO TURKEY.
TRAUMA ONLY TOOK 500 RUNNERS, BUT WE PLAN ON BEING BACK TO FULL FIELD.
IN FACT, WE JUST DISCUSSED THAT TODAY.
WE ANTICIPATE BEING BACK TO FULL FIELD.
WE KIND OF SWITCHED UP THE DESIGN OF THE PARK, BUT IT WORKED OUT REALLY WELL.
PROBABLY HAD ABOUT A THOUSAND PEOPLE THERE.
BUT BY THAT TIME, PEOPLE UNDERSTOOD ABOUT, YOU KNOW, HOW TO WEAR A MASK, HOW TO STAY AWAY FROM PEOPLE. AND IT CERTAINLY WAS AN OUTSIDE EVENT.
WE DID DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE WITH A LITTLE BIT LIMITED AUDIENCE.
WE DID TOO BOISTEROUS ONE ON NOVEMBER ONE IN FEBRUARY.
AND THEN WE DID TWO LOCATIONS, ALL WHERE I'VE SEEN IN THE PAPER WITH THE OPENING OF THE LOWCOUNTRY CELEBRATION PARK AND CALLIGNEE.
WE ACTUALLY DID OUR FIRST LITTLE EVENT DOWN THERE AND WE HANDED OUT EASTER EGG BACK TO ME. IF YOU HAVEN'T HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO GO SEE THAT PART, Y'ALL NEED TO GO SEE IT.
WE BETWEEN THE PLAYGROUND AND THE ABILITY FOR US TO DO EVENTS AND JUST THE OPEN SPACE IN ITSELF IS FANTASTIC.
HOPEFULLY WE'LL BE BACK IN OUR SUMMER JAMS BUSINESS, WHICH IS OUR TUESDAY NIGHT EVENT.
WE'LL ALSO ADD A THURSDAY NIGHT EVENT DOWN AT THE NEW LOW COUNTRY PARK.
BUT THEN WE'RE GOING TO WE'RE GOING TO TRY AND OPEN HOUSE ON THE TWENTY SEVENTH OF THIS MONTH AND WE WANT TO INVITE EVERYBODY OVER.
I THINK THAT WE'RE GOING TO PROMOTE OUR SUMMER PROGRAMS. WE HAVE SOME OTHER THINGS THAT ARE GOING ON THAT WE WANT TO LET THE COMMUNITY KNOW THAT WE'RE DOING KIND OF SUMMER.
WE KIND OF PLANNED A FULL SCHEDULE.
I WOULD TELL YOU ONE THING WE DID LEARN FROM COVID IS THAT WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO HAVE OUR BEFORE WE'VE HAD 200 TO 220 KIDS A DAY CAMP AT THE CENTER.
WE'VE REDUCED THAT DOWN TO 140.
AND SOME OF THAT WE FOUND IS JUST SO IT'S A LOT MORE MANAGEABLE.
AND THEN WITH THE CENTER ITSELF BEING A FITNESS OF HAVING MULTIGENERATIONAL PEOPLE IN THE BUILDING THROUGHOUT THE DAY, IT MAKES FOR A MUCH BETTER, BETTER PLACE TO BE.
AND AND SO WE'RE REALLY YOU KNOW, WE DID LEARN SOMETHING FROM CODE IS KIND OF THE REDUCE IN NUMBERS AND BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A PROGRAM.
STILL, SOME OF THE GOOD STUFF THAT'S GOING ON, I THINK, IS I TALKED ABOUT THE LOW PRESSURE CELEBRATION PARK WITH A TOWN OF HILTON HEAD IS WORKING ON DOING THREE MASTER PLANNING PLANTINGS OVER THERE, ONE FOR THE CROSSINGS, PART ONE FOR CHAPMAN PARK, BUT ALSO WHAT THEY'RE CALLING IT, MIDDLE PARK.
FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW, IT'S WHERE PORT ROYAL GOLF COURSE IS.
AND THERE WAS THERE'S ONE HUNDRED ACRES THERE THAT THE TOWN IS GOING TO DO SOME MASTER PLANNING ON IN THE NEXT NEXT SIX MONTHS.
IT'S PROBABLY GOING TO BE THE LAST OF THE NEXT THREE MONTHS.
AND SO MY CONCERNS MOVING FORWARD IN THIS BUSINESS IS STAFFY FINDING PEOPLE TO WORK PART TIME, PEOPLE TO WORK. WE HAVE A CHALLENGE THERE.
AND ALSO JUST A QUESTION ABOUT DOING THE BUSINESS, THE COST OF DOING BUSINESS.
I THINK THAT'S GOING TO GO UP.
AND FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW ARE WE ARE FEATURING AN ORGANIZATION AS A NONPROFIT AND TRYING TO BALANCE THAT BALANCE, THAT RIGHT THERE BETWEEN DOING, YOU KNOW, WHAT CAN PARENTS AFFORD COMING OUT OF COVID AND VERSUS OUR OPERATIONAL COSTS AND AND HOW THEY'RE GOING TO EXPAND. IT'S GOING TO BE PRETTY CHALLENGE CHALLENGING FOR US NEXT YEAR.
IT'S KIND OF THAT'S A SIX MONTHS IN A NUTSHELL.
SO DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? RIGHT, FRANK? I JUST HAVE A QUESTION.
HOW HOW DID YOU FIND THE ISLAND REC CENTERS? THIS IS VERY WELL RUN ORGANIZATION.
ALL THE EVENTS THAT YOU HAD AS FUNDRAISERS OVER THE YEARS, EVERYTHING THAT YOU'VE DONE, OBVIOUSLY, THAT WENT AWAY DURING KOFOD.
AND NOW THAT WHEN YOU LOOK BACK AND AND THOSE CHALLENGES THAT YOU HAD, THEN YOU HAD INCREASED EXPENSES AS WELL.
THE FACILITIES, SOME OF THAT WAS FUNDED BY SOME NONPROFITS, I BELIEVE.
SUCH AS US, BUT HOW DID YOU WEATHER THE ECONOMIC STORM? WELL, ONE GOOD THING, WE WERE ABLE TO KEEP ALL THE FULL TIME PEOPLE EMPLOYED THROUGHOUT THE DAY. AND WE HAD WE HAD HAD A RESERVE THAT WE'RE ABLE TO TAP INTO, ALONG WITH SOME COMMITMENTS NOT ONLY FROM THE COUNTY IN THE TOWN TO HELP FUND OUR BUDGET AND IN REDUCING COSTS DURING THE SHUTDOWN.
AS WE GEARED UP, WE WE BUDGET STAFF VERY TIGHTLY AND DID SOME OF THOSE THINGS AS WE
[00:15:05]
STARTED GENERATING SOME MORE REVENUES MOVING FORWARD.OUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE AND THEN I'VE BEEN TELLING MY BOARD THAT WE'RE GOING WHERE WE'RE REALLY GOING TO SEE HOW THINGS ARE GOING TO COME OUT.
IT'S REALLY IN SIX MONTHS FROM NOW BECAUSE NOW WE'RE OPERATING FULLY.
BUT AS I WAS TALKING, THE MAN IS TELLING HIM, I GOT THIS GREAT SPONSORSHIP.
I'VE CARRIED IT FORWARD SO I DON'T HAVE ANY NEW MONEY TO OFFSET THAT SPONSORSHIP.
AND SO THOSE ARE THE TYPE OF THINGS THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE CHALLENGED TO BE LOOKING AT ON A REGULAR BASIS AND THAT.
SO, YOU KNOW, I KEPT TELLING MY BOARD THAT, YOU KNOW, IT'S NOT NOW THAT WE NEED TO BE LOOKING AT. IT'S IT'S LIKE SIX OR EIGHT MONTHS BACK INTO IT.
WHEN WE OPEN UP FULLY BECAUSE OF THE REVENUES THAT WE WERE ABLE TO COLLECT BEFOREHAND, WE WERE LUCKY. A LOT OF PEOPLE EITHER MADE A DONATION WHEN THE PROGRAMS WERE CANCELED OR THEY THEY DIDN'T TAKE A REFUND AND THEY GOT CREDIT.
NOW, SOME OF THAT CREDIT IS GOING AWAY.
SO SOME OF IT I'M GETTING SOME NEW MONEY BACK.
BUT THIS SPRING, I HAD A LOT OF CREDIT SET ONE OUT.
SO IT'S A JUGGLING ACT, BUT I THINK THAT WE'LL GET THROUGH.
THANK YOU. SO I JUST WANTED TO KIND OF REPORT ON WHAT WE DID DURING COVID, FORTUNATELY, I HAD A GREAT STAFF THAT STAYED ON FULL TIME AND WE PUT SOME OF OUR STAFF TO WORK DOING A OUT AT GROUND MAINTENANCE TO KEEP THEM BUSY BECAUSE, OF COURSE, THE GRAFTS DID NOT STOP GROWING BECAUSE THE BUILDING SHUT DOWN.
BUT THE OTHER STAFF, WE WENT TO WORK AND ON A DAILY BASIS DOING CLEANING AND CLEANING OUT THINGS. SO RIGHT HERE WE HAVE THE BLUFFTON CENTER.
WHEN THE AFTER SCHOOL SHUT DOWN, OF COURSE, THE REFRIGERATOR IS EVERYTHING WAS LEFT BECAUSE IT WAS SUCH AN ABRUPT SHUT DOWN.
THEN THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE OF SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE TOOK OUT OF THE CLOSET OVER AT BLUFFTON CENTER AND HAULED OFF TO THE DUMP.
WE TOOK THE BOUNCE HOUSES OUT AND WE WERE ABLE TO ACTUALLY BLOW THEM UP, SCRUB THEM DOWN AND LET THEM DRY.
AND AS YOU CAN SEE, DARYL, YOU KNOW, HE GOT RIGHT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF IT ALL.
THE GUYS CLEANED THE BATTING CAGES AND GOT ALL THE DUST AND THINGS DOWN THAT ARE TYPICALLY NOT DONE.
AND THE WINDOWS THEN THIS IS IF YOU LOOK AT THE OF THE SIDEWALKS AND THE PRESSURE WASHING WE GOT OUT THERE AND OF COURSE, WITH WITH ALWAYS BEING SHORT STAFFED, IT'S NOT ALWAYS EASY TO GET THESE THINGS DONE.
SO WE GOT GOT MORE PRESSURE WASHING.
AND YOU CAN DEFINITELY TELL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE SIDEWALKS OUT HERE.
THIS IS JUST THE SIDE OF THE GYM, AS YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THE THINGS.
AND THEN WE GOT IT ALL CLEANED UP.
CROSSING'S PARK ON HILTON HEAD, THE PRESSURE WASHING DOWN THERE.
WHEN MATT CAME HERE FOUR YEARS AGO, HE WAS BOUND AND DETERMINED THAT WE WERE GOING TO PAINT THE BATHROOM FLOORS AND POOLS.
SO HE GOT BUSY, GOT ON THE PHONE, GOT A MACHINE RENTED, AND HIM AND JOE THOUGHT THEY WERE COWBOYS IN THERE ON THESE MACHINES, BUT THEY SCRUBBED UP ALL THE FLOORS.
AND AS YOU COULD SEE, HE STARTED PAINTING AND THIS WAS THE MOMENT, THE END RESULT.
SO AND IT'S HELD UP QUITE WELL.
SO WE HAD THEY WERE JUST, YOU KNOW, CONSTANTLY PEELING.
AND SO HE ACTUALLY KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING IN THIS.
AND IT WAS A REALLY GOOD PROJECT THAT HE AGREED TO TAKE ON.
YOU CAN SEE JOE IN THERE KIND OF SHOT UP IN THE OFFICE AREA.
BUT WE DID THIS FLOORING IN IN THE BLUE AND THEN WE GOT ALL THE WALLS PAINTED.
SO LEN BROWN IS BEEN IN NEED OF AN OVERHAUL FOR QUITE SOME TIME.
BUT AS YOU CAN SEE, THIS IS WHAT THE BATHROOMS LOOK LIKE.
AND IT HAD A BIG ROOM IN THERE WITH JUST A BUNCH OF JUNK IN THE STORAGE.
AND THIS IS WHAT THE FLOORS LOOK LIKE.
SO ETHAN AND HARRY, I THINK WE WENT OVER HERE AND THEY STARTED ON THIS SIDE OF IT.
AND YOU CAN SEE JUST HOW, YOU KNOW, DIRTY AND GRIMY AND THE PAINT NEEDED TO BE DONE.
AND THIS WAS THE END RESULT OF THE BATHROOMS OUT THERE.
SO, YOU KNOW, THEY THEY REALLY WORKED HARD IN DOING THESE PROJECTS.
[00:20:01]
I'VE GOT TO HAND IT TO THEM.THEY THEY REALLY HELPED OUR FACILITIES AND MADE THEM LOOK GOOD.
AND THEN THIS WAS JUST SOME OF THE OFFICES WHEN WE WENT TO MOVE THE DESKS THAT FELL APART AND WHEN WE CLEANED OUT BEHIND ALL OF THE FURNITURE.
AND AS YOU CAN SEE, THE PICTURE DOWN HERE, WE PAINTED THE GYM AND THIS WAS PROBABLY ONE OF OUR BIGGEST PROJECTS TO TACKLE, WHICH WAS WE WERE TASKED WITH PICKING UP 55 GALLON BARRELS OF SANITIZER AND DISINFECTANT AND STAFF WENT TO WORK PUMPING INTO THESE PLASTIC BOTTLES TO DISTRIBUTE THROUGHOUT EUFOR COUNTY.
AND THAT'S THAT'S OUR KOWIT UPDATE, SO OUR SOFTWARE UPDATE, WE HAVE USED MAX GALAXIE NOW FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS AND GOT AN EMAIL BACK IN.
I WANT TO SAY IT WAS LATE OCTOBER, NOVEMBER AND SAID JUST WE'RE JUST SITTING HERE TO INFORM YOU THAT IN OCTOBER 2021, WE'RE GOING BLACK, WE'RE SHUTTING DOWN.
WE'RE NO LONGER GOING TO KEEP OUR SOFTWARE PROGRAM RUNNING.
SO LOOKING INTO THINGS WAS QUITE THE CHALLENGE, YOU KNOW, TRYING TO MAKE SURE THAT WE WERE WE WERE GOOD WITH THAT AND SECURITY MEASURES AND STUFF.
BUT WE HAVE OFFICIALLY SETTLED ON RENT DESK SEEMS TO BE VERY USER FRIENDLY.
YOU'RE GOING TO BE WE'RE GOING TO HAVE CALENDARS THAT WILL BE ONLINE TO SHOW EVERYONE FIELD AVAILABILITY AND CENTER AVAILABILITY AND ALL KINDS OF DIFFERENT FEATURES.
COACHES ARE ACTUALLY GOING TO BE ABLE TO GO IN AND GO FROM THEIR ROSTER AND TEXT MESSAGE TO THEIR PARENTS. SO IT'S GOING TO BE A VERY FRIENDLY, USER FRIENDLY SOFTWARE.
THE FIRST PHASE OF IT ACTUALLY STARTS ON JUNE THE 1ST FOR ALL REGISTRATION, BECAUSE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FALL, SPORTS IS WHEN MAX GALAXIE SHOT NOW AND THEN JULY.
WE WILL START WITH OUR OFFICIAL MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION.
SO IT'S GOING TO BE WE'RE GOING TO BE BUSY THE NEXT FEW WEEKS GETTING ALL THE FIELDS AND CENTERS AND ALL PUT IN.
BUT I THINK IN THE LONG RUN, IT'S GOING TO BE WELL WORTH US SWITCHING OVER TO.
THE MASTER PLAN UPDATE, SO THE MASTER PLAN WAS APPROVED TO BE DONE AS AN OVERALL COUNTYWIDE PARKS AND REC MASTER PLAN, THIS WAS APPROVED AT COUNCIL FOR ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY THREE THOUSAND ONE NINETY AS A CONTRACT IS GOING TO BE HUGE FOR US.
WE'VE ALREADY HAD ONE MEETING OUT AT THE BOOKER T.
WASHINGTON CENTER. WE'RE GOING TO HAVE OTHER COMMUNITY MEETINGS.
SO WE'RE GOING TO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO GET INVOLVED.
IF YOU WANT TO SEE IT, YOU GOT TO BE PART OF IT.
WE HAVE PEOPLE CALL US ABOUT PICKLEBALL.
WE HAVE PEOPLE CALL US ABOUT BMX.
WE HAVE PEOPLE CALL US ABOUT THIS CALL.
THIS IS THE WAY TO FOR PEOPLE TO GET INVOLVED.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SEE? AND SO WHAT PARTNERS WILL ACTUALLY GO OUT INTO THE COMMUNITIES? THEY'LL HAVE MEETINGS, THEY'LL TOUR THE FACILITIES, THEY'LL MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS IS GOING TO BE A YEAR LONG PROCESS.
BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY, IT'S GOING TO BE A HUGE ASSET TO US AT PARKS AND REC.
SO THIS DOLLAR AMOUNT OF 173, 190 IS THE COST OF THE PLAN IN IT.
SO THIS WILL BE AN OVERALL COUNTYWIDE MASTER PLAN THAT'S BEING DONE.
IT WAS ONE OF THE THINGS WHEN THE LAST COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR CAME IN, THAT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS THAT SHE MET WITH US AND SAID SHE WANTED TO SEE.
SO SHE GAVE US ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND IN THIS YEAR'S BUDGET TO TO START IT.
AND WE BUDGETED THE DIFFERENCE FOR NEXT YEAR.
SO AGAIN, THAT DOLLAR AMOUNT IS THE AMOUNT THAT IS GOING INTO THE PLAN, CORRECT? OK, YEAH. WHAT ABOUT THE PLANS THAT WE'VE HAD WITH VARIOUS THAT'S INCLUSIVE OF ALL THE FACILITY PLANS LIKE YOU'VE GOT? BURTON MILES HAS ALREADY HAS A MASTER PLAN FOR THOSE MASTER PLANS THEY'LL BE INCLUDED IN.
SO THAT'S GOING TO BE UNDER THE UMBRELLA TITLE TO GO.
RIGHT. BUT THEY'LL GO OUT THE CENTERS.
DOES THE CENTER NEED TO BE OPENED? DOES THE CENTER NEED TO BE CLOSED? DO WE NEED TO UPGRADE A CENTER OR DO WE NEED TO PURCHASE LAND? WHERE DO WE NEED TO START LOOKING AT LAND FOR FUTURE DEVELOPMENT? THEY'LL BE ABLE TO RECOMMEND ANY AND EVERYTHING TO MAKE PARKS AND REC FUNCTION AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS WITHIN.
BUT WE'LL ALSO HAVE THE COMMUNITY.
AND THAT'S WHY I HAVE I HAVE A LIST ALREADY STARTED OF PEOPLE THAT WILL BE ON AN EMAIL BLAST AND WE WILL CONSTANTLY MARKET THIS BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, YOU'VE GOT TO IF YOU WANT TO SEE IT, YOU HAVE TO GET INVOLVED.
THAT'S GOING TO BE MY NEW MOTTO GOING FORWARD.
WHAT WE HAVE SO MANY LITTLE FACILITIES THAT WE'RE ALWAYS OFTEN ASKED TO APPROVE CERTAIN
[00:25:04]
THINGS AND LEASES AND USE CARI'S NEIGHBORHOODS.AND THAT'S GOING TO ADDRESS ALL THAT.
I WILL ADDRESS ALL OF THAT SO THAT WE'LL HAVE IT.
AS YOU KNOW, IT'S GOING TO BE OUR PARKS AND REC BIBLE TO BE ABLE TO LOOK AT AND GO BACK AND SAY, YES, THEY'VE RECOMMENDED THIS.
IT'LL IT'LL ADDRESS THE YOU KNOW, LIKE THE BASEBALL FIELD OVER HERE, THE PEOPLE THAT WANT TO SEE THE BASEBALL FIELDS AND MORE LAND THEY'LL BE ABLE TO ADDRESS IN THERE AND SAY THE NEED TO PURCHASE MORE LAND BASED UPON THE NUMBERS, YOU KNOW, WHAT PROGRAMS DO YOU WANT TO SEE GOING FORWARD? WHAT SPORTS DO YOU WANT TO SEE? YOU KNOW, JUST ANY LITTLE DETAIL.
WE WE SAT DOWN, THERE WAS FIVE OF US ON THE COMMITTEE AND WE SAT DOWN AND IT STARTED OUT A LOT LESS EXPENSIVE.
BUT, YOU KNOW, AS WE ADDED TO WHAT WE WANTED TO SEE, YOU KNOW, AND WE REALLY WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING GOT COVERED, COMMUNITY MEETINGS, YOU KNOW, THEM GOING TO COUNCIL RECOMMENDATIONS, WE REALLY WANT TO SEE THE COMMUNITY INVOLVED.
IS THAT A ROAD MAP FOR THIS ONE? IT'S GOING TO COMMENCE WHEN THERE'S GOING TO BE RECOMMENDATIONS, WHEN IT'S I MEAN, HOW LONG THE PROCESS IS.
AND THE CONTRACT JUST WAS WRITTEN YESTERDAY, HAS NOT BEEN SIGNED YET AND HAS BEEN APPROVED THROUGH COUNCIL.
BUT ONCE THIS IS DONE, YES, WE WILL ACTUALLY WITHIN OUR WEBSITE AND THE COUNTY WEB SITE, WE WILL GET A SCHEDULE PUT OUT ONCE WE GET IT FROM WOODEN PARTNERS AND WE'LL GET IT ADVERTISED TO EVERYONE.
SO THEORETICALLY IN THIS MEETING TWELVE MONTHS FROM NOW, WE SHOULD HAVE THE RESULTS OF THIS AND A COPY OF THE.
PLAN. SO TENNIS FOR UPDATE, SO WE GOT LUCKY WITH THE TENNIS COURT UPDATE AND WERE ABLE TO GET SOME ACCOMMODATIONS TAX, WE APPLIED FOR ACCOMMODATIONS TAX.
AND SO DOWNTOWN TENNIS, WHICH IS THIS IS AN OVERSIGHT OF DOWNTOWN TENNIS, IS GOING TO GET A COMPLETE OVERHAUL.
IT WAS APPROVED FOR 384 FOUR 741.
SO WE ALSO HAD USDA THAT HAD GIVEN US SOME GRANT MONEY.
AND SO WHAT OUR FIRST STEP IS TO GO IN AND FIX THE DRAINAGE WHICH THEY'RE LOOKING INTO NOW. AND THEN WE'VE GOT AN ENGINEERING FIRM THAT'S LOOKING AT IT.
AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO LOOK AT RAISING PROBABLY RIGHT NOW AS IT STANDS, THEY HAVEN'T FINALIZED WHAT'S GOING TO BE DONE.
BUT AS IT STANDS, IT LOOKS LIKE THE COURTS WILL BE TORN AWAY AND NEW COURTS PUT IN AND THEY WILL BE RAISED BECAUSE IF YOU LOOK AT THE SITES IN IN THE CITY OF NEW FOR ITS RACE, SO EVERYTHING KIND OF RUNS DOWN TO THE TENNIS COURTS.
SO IT'S GOING TO LOOK AT BEING RAISED.
WE'LL LOOK AT ADDING MORE HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY AND DEPENDING UPON THE FUNDING, BECAUSE I'VE ALSO APPLIED FOR PARRED FUNDING THAT HASN'T BEEN THEY HAVEN'T HAD A MEETING AND APPROVED THAT PARK FUNDING.
BUT DEPENDING ON THE PARK FUNDING, IF WE GET MORE FUNDING, WE WILL REDO ALL THE LIGHTS AND PAY THE PARKING AS WELL.
SO ALL THE FENCING IS GOING TO BE REPLACED.
SO AT THE END OF IT, WE SHOULD BE LOOKING AT A HALF A MILLION DOLLAR UPGRADE IS WHAT OUR HOPES ARE. OK, SO THIS WAS PART OF THE GRAND UPDATE IN OUR LAST MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING THAT AT THAT TIME WE APPLIED FOR A GRANT OF FOR THIRTY ONE THOUSAND.
ARE YOU SAYING THAT WE RECEIVED THREE FOUR OUT OF THAT GRANT WAS DONE, THAT GRANT GOT CANCELED, THAT WHEN COVID HIT, THEY PUSHED THAT RAN OFF A YEAR.
WE WERE UNABLE TO GET THE INFORMATION TOGETHER THAT WE NEEDED TO REAPPLY FOR THAT GRANT.
SO, NO, THIS THIS IS ACTUALLY ACCOMMODATION'S TAX THAT WAS AWARDED THROUGH EUFOR COUNTY.
SO, YEAH, THAT IS THIS PROGRAM THAT WE APPLIED FOR.
FOUR NINETY FIVE IS THAT WE ARE STILL WAITING ON THE PARK.
GRANT I APPLIED FOR WAS ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY THOUSAND AND IT HASN'T BEEN AWARDED YET.
SO ONCE THE LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION MEETS, THEY'LL DECIDE WHO GETS AWARDED WHAT AND WE'LL KNOW HOW MUCH MORE MONEY THAT WE HAVE FOR IT.
THAT'S ADDED ON TO THE THE THREE THAT WOULD BE ADDED ON TO THE 380 ARE OUR THOUGHT PROCESS. BEHIND IT IS WE KNOW WHAT WE WANT TO DO.
WE KNOW THAT THE FENCING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
WE KNOW THAT THE DRAINAGE NEEDS TO BE FIXED.
WE KNOW THAT THE COURTS NEED TO BE DONE.
BUT, YOU KNOW, AS YOU SEE THE PARKING ALONG THE SIDE, WE WOULD LIKE TO COMPLETE EVERYTHING. WE ALSO DO IF WE RUN SHORT ON FUNDS.
WE DO HAVE MONEY FROM THE SALE OF BOB JONES THAT WE COULD PULL FOR BECAUSE THAT MONEY HAS TO BE PUT INTO THE CITY PARKS IN.
[00:30:01]
THIS WOULD BE ONE OF THE CITY PARKS.AND WE MADE A MOTION, I THINK, BEFORE.
AND IS THAT THE FACILITY THAT WAS BELAYING? RIGHT. AND WE WERE TALKING ABOUT NAMING FOR MIDDLETON.
YOU HAVE TO BE AND I'LL GET TO THAT LATER ON IN THE NAME OF CLINTON.
THAT'S ALL RIGHT. SO THE BUCKWALTER UPDATE, BUCKWALTER UPDATE.
IF YOU SEE IT AND YOU SEE THE WORDING, THE TERMINOLOGY IS THE BRACE PROJECT IS WHAT THEY'VE NAMED IT. SO IT HAS EVERYTHING IS MOVING FORWARD WITH THAT.
THEY HAVE ALREADY GOTTEN THE CONTRACT OVER TO WOODEN PARTNERS.
WOODEN PARTNERS IS IN THE PROCESS OF SIGNING IT AND GETTING BACK AND THEY WILL START.
ONCE THEY DO THAT, THEY WILL START ON ADDING THE TURF FIELDS, SEEING WHAT WE NEED TO DO TO MAKE THESE FIELDS NOT AS WET AND SOGGY.
SO I'M NOT WE'RE NOT SURE YET.
HAVE THEY DECIDED THAT THEY'RE GOING TO TURF WHAT WE'VE GOT AND BUILD NEW OR TURF NEW AND REDO WHAT WE'VE GOT? THEY'VE ALSO WE'RE LOOKING AT, AS OF RIGHT NOW, THE STARTING OF THE TENNIS COMPLEX WITH THE MONEY THAT WE HAVE.
WE'RE NOT SURE WHAT THE IMPACT FEES ARE GOING TO BE IN AS THE PROJECT GOES ON.
SO AS OF RIGHT NOW, WE'RE LOOKING AT MAYBE FOUR TENNIS COURTS AND TWO PICKLEBALL COURTS OR TWO SETS OF PICKLEBALL COURTS, WHICH I THINK IS FOR WHERE WAS THE PREVIOUS PLAN? THAT INCLUDES? OF COURSE, IT DID NOT.
SO YOU DECIDED TO NOT BE THINK ABOUT THAT LOCATION.
NOT NO, I'M SORRY. I'M STEPPING BACK IN THE EFFORT.
YEAH, NO, THIS IS NO, THAT'S THIS IS DOWN HERE.
NO, NO, NO. I KNOW. I WAS JUST KIND OF HOPING THAT BECAUSE OF THE FORMER INFORMATION FOR THE PERSON OR HAD TALKED AT ONE TIME ABOUT DOING PICKLEBALL THERE AS WELL.
CORRECT. SO MY QUESTION TO YOU WAS, I DIDN'T ASK YOU THEN YOU BROUGHT UP PICKLEBALL.
IS THAT AS THOSE THAT THAT FUNDING WAS GOING TO COME THROUGH THE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION AS WELL.
AND WHEN IT GOT PUSHED BACK, IT'S AN EXPENSIVE PROJECT, SO IT'S KIND OF ON HOLD.
WE ARE LOOKING AT APPLYING FOR ACCOMMODATION'S TAX FOR THAT NEXT YEAR AND HOPING TO BE AWARDED THE ACCOMMODATION'S TAX THAT WE CAN GET THE PICKLEBALL COMPLEX AT BARGAIN WILSTON BECAUSE THAT GROUP WAS PRETTY VOCAL, BUT THEY WERE VERY STILL, YOU KNOW, JUST WANTED.
SO YOU'RE STILL HAPPY? YOU THEY'RE STILL HAVING CONVERSATIONS.
THEY STILL ARE. AND I WANT TO GET TO THAT IN A MINUTE OR SO.
TIME CHANGE FOR THE CENTERS CURRENTLY RIGHT NOW.
GOT THEM ALONG THE SAME LINES AS WHAT FRANK SAID, STAFF SHORTAGES.
SO WE HAVE GOT BUCKWALTER AND BURTON WELLS.
WE JUST RECENTLY IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS GOT OPEN TILL EIGHT O'CLOCK IN THE EVENINGS.
BUT WE'RE STILL NOT OPEN ON SATURDAYS.
AND UNTIL WE GET THAT FILLED, WE CAN'T ADD TO THE HOURS.
THE TIME CHANGES FOR THE PULL, SAME AS THE POOL.
AND YOU'LL SEE WHEN WE GET TO EMPLOYEE UPDATE HOW MANY THAT WE'RE SHORT, BUT WE'RE SHORT WITH POOL STAFFING AS WELL.
SO WE ARE OPEN IN THE POOLS RIGHT NOW ON MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, EIGHT TO ONE.
AND THEN WE'RE CLOSING FOR LUNCH, WHICH IS HELPING WITH THE STAFFING SITUATION AND THEN OPENING BACK UP FROM TWO TO SIX.
AND THEN ON THE BUFORD'S SIDE, MONDAY, WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY, WE'RE OPENING THE BUTYRATE POOL AND TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS WE'RE OPEN IN THE BATTERY, GRATEFUL.
SO ONCE WE GET STAFFING, WE WILL EXPAND THE HOURS.
WE JUST HAVE TO GET THE STAFFING TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT.
THE ANNUAL REPORT, EACH EACH OF YOU GOT A COPY OF THE ANNUAL REPORT.
TOOK US A LITTLE BIT, BUT WE DID GET THAT OUT.
AND IT IS ALSO UP ON OUR WEBSITE.
NOW, THE FEES, SO ALSO INCLUDED IN YOUR PACKET, THE FEES AND VOTING ON THE FEES AND SOME POSSIBLE CHANGES THAT WE'D LIKE TO LOOK AT FOR THAT.
SO RIGHT NOW, CURRENTLY WE HAVE IN THE EVENINGS, AS YOU NOTICE, BLUFFTON POOL IS CLOSES AT 6:00, SO FROM SIX O'CLOCK IN THE EVENINGS UNTIL AROUND SEVEN, SEVEN, 15 IN THE EVENINGS, WE'RE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC AND WE'RE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC FOR THE THIN SWIM TEAM WHO NEEDED IT.
AND THEIR REQUIREMENTS ARE THAT WE NEED TO BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC BECAUSE OF COVID REGULATIONS WITH USA SWIMMING, WITH USA SWIMMING.
SO RIGHT NOW WE KEEP ONE LIFEGUARD ON STAFF AND THE POOL IS OPEN FOR AN EXTRA HOUR AND 15 MINUTES FOR THE SWIM, FOR THE FINS.
[00:35:01]
THE CURRENT RATE FOR THAT RIGHT NOW WE'RE CHARGING IS WHAT THE EXISTING RATE WAS, WHICH WAS TEN DOLLARS PER HOUR PER LINE, AND THAT WAS SIXTY DOLLARS FOR THE SIX LINES BEING THAT WERE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.WE'RE SUGGESTING THAT WE GO UP ON THAT RATE, THE POOL.
WHAT YOU'VE GOT THE POOL RATE SET AT SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS.
SO IF SOMEBODY WAS TO COME IN AND RENT THE POOL PRIVATELY FOR A PARTY OR WHATEVER, THE COST OF THAT WOULD BE SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR EURO.
AND I THINK IT'S THREE HOURS THAT'S OUT.
SO, YOU KNOW, WE WE VALUE THE FINS BEING AT OUR FACILITY AND OF COURSE, WORKING WITH THE KIDS FOR THEM TO SWIM BOTH FOR THE SCHOOL AS WELL AS FOR THE PRIVATE SWIM TEAM.
BUT IT IS A FOR PROFIT SWIM TEAM.
SO OUR SUGGESTION, ANNIE AND I SAT DOWN AND TALKED ABOUT IT, AND OUR SUGGESTION WOULD BE TO LOOK AT AT LEAST A MINIMUM OF ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR THAT EXTRA HOUR AND 15 MINUTES THAT WE'RE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC FOR THE SWIM TEAM.
AND HOW MANY DAYS A WEEK IS THAT? THIS IS NOT IN MY DISTRICT.
YES. NOW, DO YOU HAVE THE SUPPLIES GUARD STAFF FOR THAT OR DO THEY IS THEY RIGHT NOW THEY CURRENTLY DO. YOU KNOW, THEY ARE THEY DO HAVE SOMEONE CURRENTLY CERTIFIED, BUT WE DO HAVE TO STILL SUPPLY OUR GUARD BECAUSE IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO LOCK UP AND IT'S OUR FACILITY. SO WE WOULDN'T HAND THE KEY OVER WHAT'S OUR POLICY GUARD FROM, YOU KNOW, 15 MINUTES. OH, THAT'S ACCORDING TO WHO? THE GUARDS, YOU KNOW, I MEAN, IF THEY'VE BEEN THERE A WHILE.
YOU COULD BE AT TWENTY WITH TWENTY NOW.
BARRIER ACTUALLY COULD BE MORE.
YEAH. SO TWENTY TO THIRTY DOLLARS FOR THAT PERIOD OF TIME FOR THE GUARD.
CORRECT. SO DO YOU WANT TO GO THROUGH ALL THIS OR DO YOU WANT TO GO? IT'S UP TO YOU HOWEVER YOU WANT TO HANDLE THE PROBLEMS. I MEAN, I THINK I THINK THEY'RE ALL SEPARATE ISSUES.
LET'S JUST GO ONE OF THE LINES UP.
EXACTLY WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND? I MEAN, I WANT TO KIND OF KEEP IT MINIMAL.
YOU KNOW, I THINK THAT SIXTY DOLLARS IS A LITTLE I THINK.
I THINK IT'S CHEAP FOR 60 DOLLARS, ESPECIALLY, LIKE I SAID, WHEN IT IS A FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION. BUT I DON'T WANT TO GO WHERE WE LOSE THEM, YOU KNOW, FROM FROM BEING AT THE POOL EITHER. AND YOU SAY THAT THEY'RE BY THIS WEEK, FIVE DAYS A WEEK.
BUT IT DOES ALSO IT DOES ALSO STOP US FROM PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS FROM WE DO GET COMPLAINTS FROM THE PUBLIC THAT, YOU KNOW, THAT WANT TO BE IN THERE LATER.
IT STOPS US FROM GROUP SWIM LESSONS.
SO EVEN THOUGH THE COST OF, YOU KNOW, OF THE LIFEGUARD MAY BE AT A MINIMUM, YOU'RE STILL LOSING THE PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT YOU COULD BE DOING AT THE POOL AND IN WHAT TYPE OF COMMITMENT DO THEY HAVE IS IN FIVE DAYS A WEEK, 50 WEEKS A YEAR.
SO RIGHT NOW IT'S MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.
BUT EVERY WEEK, EVERY WEEK THEY DO IT EVERY DAY, DO EVERY DAY, EVERY DAY.
AND WHERE WERE THEY? WEREN'T THESE WHERE WERE THEY FORMERLY ALL OR THEY THEY'VE THEY'VE BEEN TO SHOW ALL. THEY'VE BEEN DALAM.
THEY'VE YOU KNOW, WHEN WE CLOSED, THEY WENT TO RHODE ISLAND.
THEY'VE BEEN TO SHOW HALL BEFORE.
SO WOULD WOULD YOU KNOW THEY'RE IN THE POOL FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF.
WE HAVE FOUR LANES BECAUSE WE KEEP OPEN FOR SCHOOL AND STUFF LIKE THAT.
BUT YOU'RE OUTSIDE FOR A WHILE.
BUT I THINK IT WAS LIKE WE WERE UNINSURED LIKE A HUNDRED DOLLARS PER DAY A WEEK FOR SO LONG BECAUSE IT WAS JUST A BONUS BECAUSE WE WEREN'T DOING BEFORE JULY SIX.
SO WHAT I THINK WOULD LIKE TO THE EARLIER QUESTION IS PROBABLY WITHIN REACH OR.
SO YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS, I MEAN, MY RECOMMENDATION WAS AT LEAST ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS, YOU KNOW, FOR THE HOUR, YOU REMEMBER MY FRIENDS, WE DID TELL THEM THAT WE WERE GONE TO GO TO THE BORDER BECAUSE LIKE I SAID, YOU KNOW, WITH FRANK BEING OUTSIDE, HE CAN KEEP THE POOL UP AND WITH THEM BEING INDOORS, YOU KNOW, WITH THE REGULATIONS, WE CANNOT YOU KNOW, WE WERE LEAVING A COUPLE OF LANE A LANE OPEN, BUT WE DID ALSO GET THE FEEDBACK FROM THE
[00:40:04]
PUBLIC. YOU KNOW, YOU'RE TRYING TO SWIM AND YOU'VE GOT ALL THESE KIDS JUST, YOU KNOW, IN THE POOLS ROCKIN AND, YOU KNOW, THE PEOPLE DON'T ENJOY THE LAP SWIMMING WITH THE POOL ROCK IN THE WAY THAT IT DOES.DO WE CLOSE THE POOL AFTER THIS? THIS IS THE END OF THE DAY.
THIS IS THE END OF THE DAY, YES.
SO THERE'S THERE'S NO PUBLIC ACCESS FROM SIX O'CLOCK TO 750.
CORRECT. SERVICE TO MEET ANY DEMAND FOR LEADERS WIN ON THAT.
THERE'S A AND PROBABLY ONE OF OUR BIGGEST DEMANDS IS IT REALLY SETS US BACK ON SWIM LESSONS. WE HAVE A HIGH WAITING LIST FOR SWIM LESSONS, AND A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T GET OFF WORK UNTIL LATER, SO THEY CAN'T JUST COME DURING THE DAY.
SO WE DO GET A PRETTY HIGH DEMAND FOR SWIM LESSONS.
ANY ANY RECOMMENDATIONS HOPE THAT WE RAISE THE RATE FOR THE FANS ORGANIZATION FROM THE CURRENT AREA OF SIXTY DOLLARS.
TWO HUNDRED AND. ANY DISCUSSION? ARE YOU GOING TO LOSE WHEN THEY DO THIS? PROBABLY NOT, BECAUSE WHERE ELSE CAN THEY GO? I'M RIGHT, RIGHT.
WELL, MY THOUGHT PROCESS, AND THIS IS IS THAT THE POOLS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A PLACE WHERE WE'VE WE'VE WE'VE ALWAYS WE DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY WE'RE SUBSIDIZING THE POOLS, BUT WE KNOW WE'RE SUBSIDIZING THEM A LOT.
IF THIS IS A LONG TERM TENANT, THAT'S GOING TO GIVE US SOME REVENUE AND YOU'RE TALKING TWENTY DOLLARS A MONTH, BASICALLY AT A HUNDRED DOLLARS IF YOU CAN COVER YOUR LIFEGUARD COSTS. AND WOULD WE HAVE THAT TYPE OF REVENUE FROM AN OPPORTUNITY COST BASIS IF THEY WEREN'T THERE? SO, YOU KNOW, SO FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, YOU KNOW, I THINK THAT IF THEY'RE DOING IT FIVE DAYS A WEEK, A HUNDRED DOLLARS WOULD MAKE SENSE.
BUT I WOULD THINK WE WOULD WANT TO WE WOULD WANT TO COVER, AS YOU SAY, SOME PORTION OF OUR LIFEGUARD COSTS. I'M GUESSING MAYBE THAT'S WHERE THAT 10 DOLLARS CAME IN.
AND I DON'T KNOW IF OUR INSURANCE WILL ALLOW US, EVEN IF THEY HAD A LIFEGUARD, JUST TO LEAVE THEM IN THERE BY THEMSELVES.
PROBABLY NOT. SO, YOU KNOW, SO THAT'S JUST MY THOUGHT.
I THINK THAT IF YOU IF THEY'RE GOING TO DO IT FOR FIVE DAYS, I MEAN, I WOULD LIKE TO GET SOME COMMITMENT FROM THEM, FROM IT FOR A TIME PERIOD, YOU KNOW, THAT WE COULD REVISIT THIS AND SEE HOW IT'S WORKING.
AND I THINK IF YOU SET THAT UP FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, WHETHER IT BE NINE MONTHS OR 12 MONTHS OR SIX MONTHS, AND THEN AFTER THAT, THEN YOU'RE GOING TO KNOW HOW MUCH PUBLIC BACKLASH YOU'RE GETTING, HOW IF WE'RE EFFECTIVE IN GETTING SWIMMING LESSONS AT OTHER TIMES DURING THE WEEK ON SATURDAY OR WHATEVER.
SO THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING THAT I WOULD THAT I CAN TELL YOU WE WOULD BE VERY EFFECTIVE.
I'M GETTING SOME LESSONS AFTER SIX O'CLOCK.
YEAH, WE WOULD GET WE WOULD BE.
AND YOU'VE GOT WATER AEROBICS.
YOU'VE GOT A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT DON'T GET OFF TILL FIVE OR FIVE THIRTY.
THEY'RE NOT GOING TO GET TO THE POOL, GET IN THEIR BATHING SUITS.
YEAH. SO IT'S NOT GOING TO AFFECT YOUR PROGRAM GREATLY, BUT IT DOES HELP YOUR BOTTOM LINE. SOME JUST YOU STILL OPEN AND NOW WE CLOSE AT 8:00 OR WE CAN GO AHEAD AND DO THE SWIM LESSONS FROM SEVEN TO EIGHT LISETTA IN THE AEROBICS THAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT, WE MAY AT SOME POINT TRY TO PUSH THEM BACK.
WE'RE GOING TO RESURFACE THAT GOAL STARTING DOING THE FIRST.
SO WE MAY AT SOME POINT, IF WE CAN WORK IT OUT WITH THEM, PUSH IT BACK FROM SEVEN, EIGHT, FIFTEEN, YOU KNOW, BUT YOU'RE STILL IN THAT BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GIVE UP.
YOU CAN'T GIVE A TWO OR THREE YEAR OLD SWIM LESSONS WITH THE POOL MOVE AND THE WAY THAT IT IS. RIGHT.
AND YOU'RE SAYING THAT THE COVERED REGULATIONS MAKE IT MAKING TO BE SEPARATE AND ANYWAY, IS THAT SOMETHING THAT'S GOING TO CONTINUE? I DON'T KNOW WHAT USA SWIMMING IS FUNDING, RIGHT? YEAH. I MEAN, WE HOPE THAT EVENTUALLY IT'LL GO AWAY, BUT WE DON'T KNOW.
RIGHT. WELL, ALL I WOULD SAY IS THAT I THINK YOU SHOULD COMMIT TO A CERTAIN TIME FRAME TO SEE HOW IT'S GOING TO WORK OUT, WHETHER THAT BE, YOU KNOW, AT A MINIMUM, SIX MONTHS IN GENERAL. I AGREE THAT I THINK WHAT ONE WAS SAYING IS THAT COVERS SOME OF OUR COSTS WITH THE LIFEGUARD, YOU KNOW, WHATEVER THAT IS, AND THEN JUST REASSESS IT AFTER THAT PERIOD IS OVER BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW HOW IT'S IMPACTING YOUR OTHER BUSINESS.
SO DO YOU WANT TO RESTATE YOUR MOTION OR DO WE WANT TO VOTE ON AND MOTION?
[00:45:03]
I'M PERSONALLY SATISFIED WITH MY MOTION.ANYBODY ELSE OK? I WOULD I WOULD LOOK THAT YOU YOU MAKE AN ADDITION TO THE MOTION TO PROCURE TO TIME FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. YEAH.
AND I WOULD I WOULD AMEND MY MOTION TO CONTAIN THE SAME VERBIAGE, THAT AD COVERING FOR THE PERIOD OF THE NEXT SIX MONTHS TO BE REVISITED BY THE BOARD.
SO I GOT SICK OF ANY DISCUSSION ON FAVORITE I.
SO WE DO HAVE EVENTS THAT PEOPLE HAVE BROUGHT FORWARD THAT THEY ARE INTERESTED IN AND POSSIBLY, YOU KNOW, DOING FOOD TRUCK EVENTS.
AND WE DON'T CURRENTLY HAVE ANY FEE ON OUR FEE SCHEDULE.
FRANKLY, YOU CAN TRY TO BE GOOD.
ALWAYS TIES IN WITH OUR FRIENDS.
SO WE HAVE A LADY RIGHT NOW, FOR INSTANCE, SHE'S APPROACHED US ABOUT DOING GET UP AND GO, WHICH SHE WANTS TO DO EVENTS OUT AT THE PARK THAT SHE HOPES MAYBE FREE EVENTS, BUT SHE CAN GET FOOD TRUCKS OUT TO ATTRACT PEOPLE TO THE AMOUNTS AS A PARTNERSHIP.
SO THEY WOULDN'T BE AN EVENT THAT WE WOULD CHARGE TO TO COME OUT, BUT IT WOULD BE THE FOOD TRUCKS THAT ARE OUT THERE, YOU KNOW, PROFITING OFF OF IT.
SO IN SPEAKING WITH OUR PURCHASING DEPARTMENT, YOU KNOW, IT'S SOMETHING THAT WE WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE TO ADVERTISE OUT AND INVITE EVERYBODY TO.
BUT HE SAID, YOU KNOW, AT THAT POINT WE WOULD EITHER HAVE A SET PRICE OR A PERCENTAGE.
AND WE DON'T HAVE EITHER FROM THE MILITARY BASES.
I AM NOT SURE RIGHT OFFHAND IS HANDLED BY FOOD AND BEVERAGE, BUT THERE IS A PERCENTAGE FROM EACH FOOD TRUCKS THERE WHEN THERE ARE THREE OR FOUR TIMES A MONTH AND WE HAVE TWO TO THREE TRUCKS THURSDAY, FRIDAYS.
SO YEAH, THEY'RE NOT HAVING THAT.
THE IS DEFINITELY WITHIN THE NORM FOR SURE, WHETHER YOUR LEGAL DEPARTMENT DECIDES THAT IT'S GOING TO BE A FLAT FEE OR IF YOU'RE GOING TO TAKE A PERCENTAGE.
WELL, IT WOULD BE UP TO THE BOARD TO SET THAT FEE IF IF WE WANT TO JUST DO A FLAT FEE, YOU KNOW, IF WE WANT TO DO A PERCENTAGE.
AND ARE WE DOING THIS TO YOU JUST TO GIVE PEOPLE WHO ARE COMING TO THE PARKS OR WHATEVER? JUST I MEAN, IT'S A IT'S A SERVICE.
IT'S OR IS IT ALL GOING TO BE EVENT DRIVEN? YOU KNOW, BRUCE, I KIND OF DON'T WANT TO TO HOLD US TO THAT BECAUSE IT MAY COME A TIME THAT THAT WE DO DECIDE THAT, YOU KNOW, ONE SATURDAY WE WANT TO DO OPENING DAY OF SOCCER OUT HERE AND WE SAY, YOU KNOW WHAT, LET'S INVITE ALL THESE FOOD TRUCKS OUT AND, YOU KNOW, AND BRING MORE PEOPLE AND, YOU KNOW, HAVE A SERVICE, BUT ALSO ALLOW THEM TO DO BUSINESS WITH US. RIGHT.
I'M JUST THINKING, YOU KNOW, FOR EXAMPLE, YOU GO TO THE BASEBALL FIELD AND THEY MAKE MOST OF THEIR MONEY AND CONCESSIONS.
CORRECT. YOU WOULDN'T NECESSARILY WANT A FOOD TRUCK ACROSS THE STREET.
AND WE DON'T ALLOW THAT FOR OUR TERMINALS.
BUT, YOU KNOW, I WOULD THINK THAT A FLAT RATE PER PER EVENT WOULD MAKE SENSE.
I DON'T REALLY WANT TO GET INVOLVED IN THIS.
YEAH. I MEAN, SO, YOU KNOW, I DON'T KNOW IF THERE'S AN INDUSTRY WIDE STANDARD FOR THAT FOR OUR AND I HAVE NO IDEA.
BUT I MEAN, WHAT SEEMS REASONABLE, YOU KNOW, THE QUESTION.
SEVENTY FIVE BUCKS FOR AN HOUR.
I MEAN, I DON'T YOU NEVER TALK ABOUT TO GENERATE THAT REVENUE OFF OF THEIR SALES SO YOU CAN FIGURE WHERE I MAKE TWO HUNDRED BUCKS AN HOUR, I'M GOING TO CHARGE 20 PERCENT INTEREST FOR FIVE PERCENT.
AND THAT'S THAT'S KIND OF KIND OF FIGURE OUT WHAT THAT BOTTOM LINE IS AND HOW LONG ARE THEY GOING TO BE THERE? ARE THEY GOING TO BE A TEACHER? I HAVEN'T SEEN A FEE, BUT WE DO HAVE A PERCENTAGE, WHICH IS ALWAYS 20 PERCENT OFF OF FOOD TRUCK OR ANY TYPE OF CONCEPT.
SO THAT TO ME, THIS LOOKS LIKE THEY GET TO GO TO THE PARK.
SO KIND OF DETERMINING WHAT THAT'S GOING TO BE.
I THINK THE OTHER QUESTION IS, DO YOU REALLY WANT TO YOUR TRUCKS OUT OF THE PARK BECAUSE IT PUTS PRESSURE ON THE MAINTENANCE AND THE CLEANUP.
THE OTHER THINGS STAY WITH THE FOOD.
AND SO YOU GOT TO TAKE THAT INTO THAT TYPE OF FEEDING, I.
[00:50:05]
YEAH. AND I COULD SAY THERE WOULD PROBABLY BE EVENTS THAT WE COULD USE FOOD TRUCKS, WHETHER IT BE THE CORNER OFFICE OR THE, YOU KNOW, THE ICE CREAM TRUCK OR OR WHATEVER, YOU KNOW, BUT TYPICALLY WITH OUR EVENTS, YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.AND SO WE DON'T NEED AND WE DON'T ALLOW THE COMPETING, YOU KNOW, BUT THERE ARE TIMES THAT THAT LIKE FOR INSTANCE, RIGHT NOW OUT HERE IN BUCKWALTER, WE DON'T HAVE A CONCESSION STAND. OUR CONCESSIONS TRAILER WAS STOLEN.
AND SO WE DON'T HAVE THE MEANS TO SELL CONCESSIONS, SO, YOU KNOW, IF WE WANTED TO DO A BIG OPENING OR ARE SOMETHING OUT THERE, YOU KNOW, BEING ABLE TO HAVE THAT FLEXIBILITY, YOU KNOW, TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT WOULD BE BENEFICIAL TO US.
AND IF YOU YOU'RE GOING TO DO THAT, YOU WERE SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT JUST A MATTER OF TALKING TO THE PERCENTAGE OF THAT APPROACH.
I DON'T THINK WE'RE TALKING A PERCENTAGE.
I MEAN, THAT'S AN OPTION. BUT I THINK THAT'S PROBABLY THE HARDEST.
AT LEAST I THINK A FLAT FEE WOULD BE, YOU KNOW, MAYBE IF I HAD TO SAY, YOU KNOW, THREE, ONE TO THREE HOURS, MAYBE 100 BUCKS, THREE TO SIX HOURS, MAYBE 200 BUCKS, I CAN'T IMAGINE THAT ANYBODY IS GOING TO GO OUT THERE OVER SIX HOURS.
OH, I WAS GOING TO SAY, WELL, YOU'RE GOING TO KNOW IF IF OUR FEE IS REASONABLE BY THE AMOUNT OF THE AMOUNT OF TAKERS.
SO I DON'T THINK THAT'S SOMETHING THAT THAT IF WE SET A FEE THAT'S TOO HIGH, IF IF WE DON'T GET MANY TAKERS, THEN THAT'S GOING TO BE INDICATIVE OF THE, YOU KNOW, THE MARKET FOR THAT. AND THEN THE QUESTION IS, WE REALLY SHOULD KIND OF HAVE A POLICY WHERE FOOD TRUCKS CAN BE THEY CAN'T BE COMPETING WITH US.
THEY CAN FIND A SPACE THAT CAN BE FOR X NUMBER OF HOURS.
AND, YOU KNOW, MAYBE, YOU KNOW, MAYBE THE ANSWER IS, YOU KNOW, IT'S FIFTY DOLLARS FOR THE FIRST HOUR AND TWENTY FIVE FOR THEREAFTER PAY IN ADVANCE.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT NUMBER IS, BUT I CAN SEE THAT THAT OUT HERE FOR SOCCER OR SOMETHING, YOU KNOW, BEING ABLE TO HAVE SOMEBODY OUT THERE WHILE SOCCER IS GOING ON AND PROVIDING SOMETHING THAT WE CAN PROVIDE.
I THINK THAT'S GREAT. YOU KNOW, I JUST DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT THE PROPER, YOU KNOW, FEES WOULD BE ON THAT SO WE CAN MAKE THE DECISION TO HAVE SOMEONE STUDY IT AND COME BACK. OR IF YOU HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE WITH THAT, WE CAN WE CAN SET A RATE RIGHT NOW AND SEE HOW THAT WORKS OUT.
BUT I THINK YOU SORT OF HAVE TO HAVE A POLICY AND WHICH EVENTS WE'RE GOING TO ALLOW FOOD TRUCKS AT AND WHETHER WE'RE JUST RENTING SPACE IN THE PARK TO ALLOW I'M DOING IT AT CERTAIN TIMES OR SPECIAL EVENT DRIVEN.
I MEAN, I THINK IT'S I THINK IT'S A BIGGER QUESTION THAN ME, AND THAT'S JUST MY OPINION.
THERE'S SOME OTHER THINGS YOU GOT TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION.
I MEAN, ARE YOU GOING TO SUPPLY THE ELECTRICITY OR ARE THEY GOING TO BRING A GENERATOR? MOST OF THEM HAVE GENERATORS.
YOU, LIKE YOU SAID, THE BATHROOMS, LIKE FRANK, THE CLEAN UP AFTERWARDS, THEY'RE GOING TO GENERATE ALL THINGS THAT WE RAN INTO AS WE STARTED THIS PROCESS.
AND A LOT OF THAT CAN PROBABLY BE HANDLED THROUGH YOUR COUNTY ATTORNEY AFTER YOU SET THE PARAMETERS THAT YOU WANT IS DURING THESE EVENTS, YOU CAN CAMP, WHO KNOWS, YOU MAY HAVE A PLACE THAT YOU JUST WANT TO ONE SATURDAY, OPEN IT UP TO THE FOOD TRUCKS, HAVE THEM COME IN, PEOPLE COME OUT AND TRY THE FOOD.
I MEAN, IT'S WORKED BOTH WAYS, BUT YOU NEED TO SET THE PARAMETERS RIGHT FROM THE GET GO.
DON'T TRY AND CHANGE IT BECAUSE AS YOU GO ALONG.
OH, I THINK IT WOULD BE YOU KNOW, THE WAY I LOOK AT IT AT THIS POINT, IT WOULD HAVE TO BE AN EVENT THAT YOU'RE INVITED TO.
YOU KNOW, THAT WE ADVERTISE, YOU KNOW, NOT JUST YOU SHOW UP AT THE PARK AND SAY, HERE'S A HUNDRED BUCKS AND. RIGHT, RIGHT.
I THINK IT NEEDS TO BE A POLICY.
AND I THINK, AS YOU SAID, THE ATTORNEY NEEDS TO BE INVOLVED ONLY BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, THEY KNOW THE ISSUES THAT ARE THERE THAT WE DON'T.
AND PEOPLE GET SICK AND PEOPLE SIGN WAIVERS.
AND, YOU KNOW, SO, YOU KNOW YOU KNOW, MY RECOMMENDATION WOULD BE THAT THAT THAT WE'RE WE GENERALLY SUPPORT IT IF IT'S IF IT'S SUPPORTED BY LEGAL, BUT THAT WE HAVE A POLICY.
AND AGAIN, MY SENSE OF A FOOD TRUCK AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY PAY TO COME IN TO SHELL, WE HAD THEM DURING YOU KNOW, DURING COVID THEY WOULD COME IN.
BUT I DON'T THINK THEY REALLY PAID ANYTHING.
I THINK THEY JUST CAME IN BECAUSE IT WAS SOMETHING TO GET OUTSIDE.
AND SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE LIABILITY RELATIVE TO THE REVENUE IF IF HOW IT MAKES SENSE.
BUT I THINK IN GENERAL, WE'RE I'M IN FAVOR OF STUDYING THAT AND MAKING THAT AS AN
[00:55:05]
AMENITY, NOT NECESSARILY MAYBE AS A MONEY MAKER, BUT, YOU KNOW, JUST COVERING OURSELF, BECAUSE AS WE ALL KNOW, SETTING UP CONCESSION STANDS AND RUNNING CONCESSION STANDS AT HIGH SCHOOLS AND BASEBALL.I MEAN, YOU NEED VOLUNTEERS TO DO THAT.
AND IF YOU CAN GET SOMEBODY TO COME IN.
SO IF IF DO WE HAVE A MOTION AS FAR AS THIS IS CONCERNED? AND, OF COURSE, DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU THAT YOU SPOKE WITH THIS SHE MENTIONED WHAT SHE WAS WILLING TO PAY, WHAT SHE PAID IN THE PAST.
AND, YOU KNOW, SHE JUST MENTIONED JUST HAVING THEM OUT THERE.
AND THAT'S WHEN, YOU KNOW, I KIND OF WENT BACK AND GOT MORE INVOLVED WITH PURCHASING BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, AS FRANK SAID, I DON'T WANT MY MAINTENANCE OUT THERE.
AND WE ONLY HAVE TWO FOOD TRUCKS, YOU KNOW, AND THEY'VE GOT A BIG MESS TO CLEAN UP.
SO, YOU KNOW, I DON'T THINK IT'S SOMETHING THAT WE DEFINITELY NEED TO LOOK AT DOING FOR FREE. YOU KNOW, MY THOUGHT WOULD BE AT LEAST, YOU KNOW, I THINK THEY MAKE ENOUGH OFF OF THE FOOD TRUCKS. THEY'VE BECOME VERY POPULAR, YOU KNOW, THAT MAYBE WE LOOK AT SOMETHING AROUND ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS AND THEN WE EVALUATE IT IF WE NEED TO AND COME BACK AND MAKE A CHANGE IF IT'S NEEDED.
MOTIONED ME TO PUT A POLICY IN PLACE AND THE ENDORSEMENT OF A HUNDRED DOLLARS WITH THE REVIEW AFTER THE FIRST, I PUT A DATE ON IT AFTER THE FIRST COUPLE OF EVENTS.
THAT WAY YOU CAN SEE WHAT IT IS OR THE LOCATIONS.
I'M SURE THERE'S SOME LOCATIONS YOU'RE NOT GOING TO WANT THEM, RIGHT? CURRENTLY, YOU'D HAVE CONCESSIONS THAT WE DON'T.
YEAH. MY SENSE IS IF WE PUT SOMETHING OUT THERE, IT'S KIND OF WILLY NILLY.
WE'RE OPENING OURSELVES UP FOR A WHOLE LOT OF ISSUES.
SO, I MEAN, I WOULD BE I'M INCLINED, ALTHOUGH I'M NOT DOING YET, TO MOTION THAT WE TEMPORARILY TABLE THIS TOPIC UNTIL THE NEXT MEETING JUST TO FIND OUT IF THERE'S ANY LEGAL GUIDANCE AND TO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO KIND OF STUDY WHAT IS REALISTIC PRICING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, NOT TO JUST BRUSH IT OFF THE TABLE, BUT TO ACTUALLY GO.
I'M TOTALLY IGNORANT OF THE FACTS REGARDING THIS TOPIC, AND THAT'S NOT ME.
WELL, I WOULD I WOULD SECOND THAT I WOULD MOVE THAT WE TEMPORARILY TABLE THIS SPECIFIC TOPIC UNTIL OUR NEXT BOARD MEETING, OK, TO ADDRESS SOMETHING SPECIFIC AT THAT TIME.
AND IN THE INTERIM, PUT A POLICY I MEAN, PUT A DRAFT POLICY TOGETHER AS CHAIR FEES AND WHAT LEGAL SAYS ABOUT IT.
AND AND I WOULD JUST SAY THAT WERE, YOU KNOW, I WOULD SAY ONE HUNDRED, ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR A PERIOD OF TIME NOT TO EXCEED, YOU KNOW, TWO HOURS OR WHATEVER, WHATEVER, THAT WHATEVER THAT NUMBER IS.
I'M NOT PERSONALLY COMFORTABLE MAKING THAT KIND OF ORGANIZED EMOTION UNTIL WE GET MY MOTIONS ON THE TABLE. THAT HIS OK, SURE, I WAS NEVER BEFORE I STARTED HERE TO LOVE ME, OK? I WOULD LIKE, I GUESS, EXACTLY HOW MUCH I FIGURED OUT THAT IT WOULD BE, YOU KNOW, THE FIVE HOUR NEWS CYCLE, FIVE EVERY SATURDAY WITH 500 PAGES.
AND IF THEY DROPPED A HUNDRED DOLLARS THIS LITTLE.
THAT'S GOOD. I MEAN, THAT'S THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING.
I'M TOTALLY. THAT'S FINE. OK, SO I'LL LOOK INTO IT AND WE'LL BE ON THE TABLE THAT SOMEBODY WAS EVENTUALLY SECOND SECOND.
AND I WILL TRY AND GET A COPY OF THE CONTRACT WE HAVE AND GIVE THAT TO YOU TO REVIEW, OK.
THAT WOULD BE GREAT. TO WHICH WITH SOME OTHER PARTS OF THE STATE.
SEE YOU THERE. I WILL DO THAT TO GEORGIA, PROBABLY IN GEORGIA.
ALL IN FAVOR OF WILL'S MOTION.
YES, SIR. OK, SO NONRESIDENT RENTALS WITH SPORTS WAS NEEDED TO COME UP.
SORRY. THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN OFFERED THERE.
WE HAD IT WAS BROUGHT UP BY THE RENT DESK.
AND YOU KNOW, WHEN HE BROUGHT IT UP, I THOUGHT, YOU KNOW, WE NEVER REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT IT. IT'S NEVER REALLY COME FORWARD.
BUT HAVE SOMEONE THAT COMES OUT AND, YOU KNOW, DECIDES THEY'RE FROM OUT OF STATE COUNTY AND THEY WANT TO JUST RENT THE ROOM, RENT THE CENTER, YOU KNOW, RENT THE BALL FIELD THERE. WE APPARENTLY IN LISTENING TO THEM, WE'RE KIND OF ONE OF MAYBE FEW THAT DOESN'T GEORGIA NONRESIDENT FEE FOR OUR RENTALS.
SO WHEN HE SAID THAT, I SAID, YOU KNOW, I'M GOING TO BRING IT UP TO THE BOARD AND SEE WHAT THE BOARD THOUGHT IS, YOU KNOW, BECAUSE YOU ARE USING THE CENTER, YOU ARE USING THE BALL FIELD, YOU ARE USING A ROOM, YOU KNOW, IN THE WEAR AND TEAR.
AND, YOU KNOW, YOU CAN JUST COME IN HERE.
YOU KNOW, WE HAVE A NONRESIDENT RATE FOR MEMBERSHIP'S, BUT WE DON'T HAVE A NONRESIDENT
[01:00:02]
RATE IF SOMEONE WANTS TO COME IN HERE AND RENT THE ROOM.WELL, SO THE THEORY BETWEEN RESIDENT NONRESIDENT RATES IS, IS THAT THEY'RE NOT PAYING TAXES IN THE CORRECT AREA.
AND SO THEY DIDN'T FUND ALL THESE THINGS.
CORRECT. THE WEAR AND TEAR ITSELF IS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME.
BUT THE QUESTION IS WHETHER OR NOT THEY'RE TAKING UP RENTALS THAT COULD BE FOR OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE IN COUNTY.
SO I DON'T HAVE A DISAGREEMENT THAT WE SHOULD HAVE A NON RESIDENT RATE.
BUT I DON'T YOU KNOW, ALSO WE'RE KIND OF UNIQUE, TOO, BECAUSE WE'RE LIKE ON A STATE LINE, TOO. I MEAN, WE'RE PRETTY CLOSE.
WE'RE NOT SITTING IN COLUMBIA.
I KNOW FROM A I'M JUST SPEAKING FOR, LIKE BASEBALL.
I DON'T KNOW ABOUT BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS.
YOU HAVE PEOPLE COME TO YOU WANT TO RENT THE GYMS FOR.
WE DON'T RENT THE GYMS. YOU KNOW, WE VOTED ON THAT YEARS AGO NOT TO RENT THE GYM.
OK, BUT WE DO RUN BASEBALL FIELDS.
RIGHT. ALL RIGHT. AND WE DO RENT ROOMS. SO IF, FOR INSTANCE AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU SAY WE SIT ON LINE, JASPER COUNTY, THEY WANTED TO START HAVE MEETINGS AND, YOU KNOW, THE PEOPLE OF HARTSVILLE OR BIRTHDAY PARTIES OR WHATEVER AND COME RENT THE ROOM, THERE'S NOTHING YOU KNOW, WE HAVE OUR RATES SET FOR ROOM RENTALS AND CENTER RENTALS LOW BECAUSE WE DISCUSSED THIS YEARS AGO AND TRY, YOU KNOW, IN GETTING MORE USE OUT OF THE CENTERS.
BUT, YOU KNOW, JUST ANYONE CAN JUST USE IT AT ANY TIME AS A NONRESIDENT.
BUT YET THEY NEED TO PAY A NONRESIDENT FEE TO COME IN THE CENTER.
OK, SO DOES IT MAKE SENSE TO PUT A FEE THAT'S TWENTY FIVE PERCENT ABOVE WHATEVER FEE IS FOR, YOU KNOW, DO A PERCENTAGE BASIS OF THAT VERSUS YOU SAY A MINIMUM OF ONE HUNDRED.
THAT WAS JUST MY YOU ALWAYS ASK ME WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST? AND I THOUGHT, YOU KNOW WHAT, LET'S MAKE IT EASY, ESPECIALLY WHEN WE'RE PUTTING THIS INTO OUR SOFTWARE PROGRAM SO THAT IF IT, YOU KNOW, THEY CHECK NONRESIDENT, YOU KNOW, AND WE REQUIRE PROOF OF BEING A COUNTY TAX PAYER.
IF THEY CHECK THAT BOX, A FLAT FEE JUST COMES IN VERSUS TRYING TO CALCULATE IN THE SYSTEM A PERCENTAGE OF THAT.
YEAH, I WOULD THINK FROM A I MEAN, SO IF IT'S A HUNDRED BUCKS THAT THE ROOM RENTAL IS 50, THAT SEEMS ONEROUS, THAT THE ROOM ROOM RENTAL WAS TWO HUNDRED.
SO TO ME A PERCENTAGE WOULD MAKE MORE SENSE NOT KNOWING IF YOUR SOFTWARE IS CAPABLE OF DOING THAT. BUT YOU KNOW, YOU COULD JUST HAVE A BLANK RESIDENCE.
IT WOULD BE CAPABLE OR IT WOULD BE I MEAN, IT WOULD BE IT JUST, YOU KNOW, WAS JUST I THOUGHT, SURE.
WHAT'S WHAT'S THE CURRENT RATE FOR A ROOM FOR A RESIDENT? FIFTY FIFTY DOLLARS AN HOUR.
IS THAT WHAT IS IT FOR A BASEBALL CARD OR BASEBALL FIELD OF COURT.
SORRY. IT'S ACCORDING TO WHAT THE BASEBALL FIELD IS BEING USED FOR AND.
WELL, IF IT'S JUST PRICE RIGHT NOW.
NO, EVERYTHING IF IT'S JUST FOR A PRACTICE, YOU KNOW, IT COULD BE 40 DOLLARS FOR THE MINIMUM OF TWO HOURS AND THEN 20 DOLLARS FOR LIGHTS, IF IT'S A SPECIAL EVENT AND THEY'RE BRINGING IN A TOURNAMENT THAT THEY'RE PROFITING, TAKEN GREAT CONCESSIONS, WHATEVER.
WE HAVE THE FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR SPECIAL EVENT FEE.
OF COURSE, NONRESIDENT SLAVES.
NOW, YOU SAID, HOW DO YOU FEEL, WHAT IF A LOCAL RESIDENT ACTUALLY PUTS THE ROOM AND BRINGING A LOT OF RESIDENTS THERE? ARE THERE A RESIDENT? THEY RENTED IT. THEY PAID IT.
THAT'S THEIR BENEFACTOR WHO COMES IN.
BUT YEAH. AND HOW MANY RENTALS DO WE REALLY GET? DO WE GET A LOT? WELL, RIGHT NOW WE'RE NOT GETTING IN, YOU KNOW, BUT BUT YEAH.
IN THE PAST. YOU GIVE US YOUR LAST 16 MONTHS.
I MEAN, ESPECIALLY IN THIS FACILITY.
WE DO. AND BERTEN, WHILST WE DO, WE GET A GOOD MANY RENTALS.
MY AGAIN, MY RECOMMENDATION AGAIN, IF IT'S MORE DIFFICULT I UNDERSTAND, BUT WITH THE SOFTWARE WOULD BE TO DETERMINE A PERCENTAGE THAT IS INCREMENTAL.
AND IF WE DECIDE THAT YOU KNOW THAT THE TOURNAMENT FIELDS ARE FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS, THEN IT SHOULD BE 25 PERCENT MORE, 30 PERCENT OR 10 PERCENT, WHATEVER.
I MEAN. SO THAT WAY WE DON'T HAVE TO GO BACK AND NOT BE RELATIVE TO WHATEVER.
WE'RE A FLAT FEE DOESN'T NECESSARILY TELL A STORY, AT LEAST IN MY MIND.
WHAT DO YOU THINK THE. I THINK IF YOU JUST PUT AN ADDITION, WHATEVER THE RENTAL RATE IS AND PUT ADDITIONAL LOVE INTO THIS, THAT'S NOT A RESIDENT RATE WITH A FLAT, YOU SAY SIXTY DOLLARS AN HOUR. NOW IT'S CALLED TO WHAT IT IS.
[01:05:06]
SO, WELL, I'M TYPICALLY NOT MAKING MOTIONS, BUT I THINK I'VE GOT ONE.I WOULD I WOULD MOVE THAT WE ASSESS AN ADDITIONAL TWENTY FIVE PERCENT OF THE WHATEVER THE EXISTING RENTAL RATE IS FOR RESIDENTS TO APPLY FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCE ACROSS THE BOARD.
OK, SO WE'VE SPECIAL EVENTS, WE DO GET REQUESTS FOR THE PARKING LOT RENTAL AND, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE LOOK AT US AND THEY SAY, OH, YOU DON'T HAVE A PARKING LOT RENTAL FEE ON YOUR FEE SCHEDULE THAT'S BEEN ASKED FOR CAR SHOWS OR WHAT HAVE YOU.
TYPICALLY, I KEEP IT THE SAME BECAUSE IT'S A SPECIAL EVENT.
IT NOT ONLY IS IT A SPECIAL EVENT, WE STILL HAVE TO SHUT DOWN THE ENTIRE FACILITY TO USE THE PARKING LOT. SO BUT TECHNICALLY, THERE IS NO PARKING LOT FEE RENTAL ON OUR FEE SCHEDULE. SO MY SUGGESTION WAS TO KEEP THE SAME RATE AS WE HAVE FOR THE USE OF THE ACTUAL FACILITY FOR A SPECIAL EVENT, BUT WE NEED TO PUT IT ON OUR FEE SCHEDULE.
SO EFFECTIVELY, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? SO SAY, FOR INSTANCE, YOU WANTED TO BRING A TOURNAMENT, OSCAR FRAZIER PARK, AND YOU WANTED TO RENT THE PARK.
WE'RE GOING TO CHARGE YOU THE FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR A SPECIAL EVENT.
BUT WE'VE HAD PEOPLE THAT HAVE COME TO US AND SAID, WE WANT TO HAVE A CAR SHOW.
BUT IF YOU GO PARKING LOTS TO TALK ABOUT, YOU CAN'T REALLY USE THE FACILITY, CORRECT? I THINK YOU DID THE RIGHT THING IN CHARGING THEM THE SAME, WHETHER THEY USE THE PARKING LOT, THE BATHROOM OR WHATEVER IT IS.
BUT WE DON'T HAVE THE PARKING LOT FEE ON THEIR.
OH, YOU KNOW, IT HAS BEEN ASKED AND IT'S BEEN A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, PROBABLY TWO YEARS AGO NOW THAT WE'VE HAD PEOPLE THAT HAVE COME TO US AND SAID, WELL, WE JUST WANT TO RENT THE PARKING LOT. YOU DON'T HAVE A PARKING LOT FEE ON THERE.
AND I SAID, WELL, YOU KNOW, WITHOUT THAT FEE, I'M GOING TO STICK TO THE SPECIAL EVENT FEE. YOU'RE HOSTING A CAR SHOW.
YOU'RE CHARGING PEOPLE WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING.
BUT WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO PUT THE FEE ON THERE.
BUT WE DON'T WE'RE PROBABLY NOT GOING TO JUST RUN A RUN OF PARKING LOT AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR NOT BEING ABLE TO GO TO OUR COMPLEX.
RIGHT. IF WE WERE CLOSED A SATURDAY AND SOMEONE WANTED TO HOST A CAR SHOW OUT HERE AND WE WEREN'T OPEN AND WE DIDN'T HAVE GAMES, WE COULD RENT THE PARKING LOT.
RIGHT. IT WOULD BE NO DIFFERENT THAN RUNNING THE FIELD, YOU KNOW, BUT IF THEY WANT TO RENT THE PARKING LOT, BUT WE WOULDN'T DO IT AT THE EXPENSE OF THE IDEA OF SOMEONE NEEDING ACCESS TO ONE OF OUR EVENTS.
SO I WOULD JUST MAKE A RECOMMENDATION AS TO WHAT I MEAN, WHEN WE'RE RENTING A COMPLEX, WE PRESUME THAT THE PARKING IS INCLUDED.
BUT IF YOU WANT TO RENT THE PARKING LOT, THEN THAT'S SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY AND WHATEVER FEE WE DESIGNATE FOR WHATEVER SIZE AND PARKING THAT.
RIGHT. A BIGGER PARKING LOT WOULD HAVE, YOU KNOW.
YEAH. SO I MEAN, I DON'T KNOW, IS IT TEN BUCKS A SPACE FOR TWO HOURS? IT I MEAN OUR SPECIAL EVENT FEE IS FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS.
SO IF YOU'RE HOSTING AN EVENT, WE DON'T HAVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF GRASS, WE HAVE THE FACILITY, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING.
YEAH. SO, YOU KNOW, THAT'S WHAT MY ANSWER HAS BEEN IN THE PAST.
BUT, YOU KNOW, IT WAS WELL, YOU DON'T HAVE THAT FEE ON THERE.
SO IT WAS WRITTEN IN MY BOOK TO BRING UP TO THE BOARD WHO WOULD MAKE SENSE TO ME THAT IF YOU WERE IF YOU WERE IF THAT HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIO CAME UP OR ONE WAS WALKING DOWN THAT PARKING LOT, IT WOULD THEN ELIMINATE THE USE OF THAT FACILITY.
SO I WOULD TAKE IT AND MAKE IT THE SAME AS I GUESS IS WHAT YOU'RE SAYING, WHICH IS WHAT I'VE GOTTEN TO TO TO ELIMINATE TO RENT OUT THE PARKING LOT IS THE SAME FISCAL BURDEN ON THAT PERSON AS THEY RENT IT UP FACILITY.
I WOULD JUST I WOULD I WOULD PUT A MAXIMUM A MAXIMUM IN THAT, THOUGH, YOU KNOW, JUST IN TERMS OF YOU MAY HAVE SOMEWHERE OUT HERE, YOU DON'T HAVE SOMETHING GOING ON.
YOU RENT THEM IN THE BACK PARKING LOT FOR THEY WANT TO PAY FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR IT.
FINE. BUT I MEAN, YOU CAN'T HAVE THE WHOLE THING AND YOU COULD HAVE TWO EVENTS COEXISTING I GUESS IS ALL I'M SAYING.
SO YOU DEFINE HOW BIG THAT THAT MAXIMUM IS BECAUSE EACH FACILITY HAS A DIFFERENT SIZED PARKING LOT. WELL, BUT THAT WOULD BE LIKE YOU ARE ELIMINATING A FACILITY.
SO IF IT COST ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS RENT THAT FACILITY USING THAT PARKING LOT WOULD COST
[01:10:02]
HUNDRED DOLLARS IF IT WAS FULL.I MEAN, HOW MUCH LONGER IS THAT GOING TO BE TO, LIKE YOU SAID, A CAR SHOW RESTROOM FACILITIES ARE GOING TO WANT YOU TO CLEAN UP.
MM HMM. GENERATES A LOT OF ROOM.
SO THAT'S WHY I INCLUDED IT IN THE PAST, WHEN PEOPLE HAVE ASKED ME ABOUT RENTING IT, I INCLUDED IT AS A SPECIAL EVENT FEE, YOU KNOW, BUT I DON'T HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO INCLUDE IT AS PARKING LOTS.
SO I YOU KNOW, BECAUSE IT WASN'T ON THERE, I SAID I WOULD BRING IT BACK TO THE BOARD TO MAKE SURE THAT THE BOARD AGREED THAT THE PARKING LOT RENTAL WOULD BE THE SAME AS A SPECIAL EVENT FEE.
AND SOMEONE ARTICULATE THAT I WOULD I WOULD MOVE THAT.
SHOULD AN ENTITY WISH TO RENT THE PARKING LOT, SYMPATHY WOULD BE THE SAME AS IF THEY HAD RENTED THE FACILITY FOR A SECOND ALBUM.
BUT I THOUGHT THEY BOTH GET ON.
THAT WAS A LOT JUST FOR YOU TO GET YOUR TO GET WHAT YOU BEEN DOING WHAT YOU WANTED THEN, RIGHT? YEAH. GOOD. ALL RIGHT.
SO ADULT BASEBALL CURRENTLY WE CHARGE FIFTY DOLLARS PER PERSON PER PLAYER FOR THE ADULTS.
THEY HAVE ASKED THAT WE ADD AN ADDITIONAL UMPIRE FOR THE GAMES.
AND SO MATT AND I SAT DOWN AND LOOKED AT THE FEE, CONSIDERING THAT THE KIDS ACTUALLY PAY SIXTY FIVE. YEAH, WE LOOK AT IT IS SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS.
UMPIRES ARE NOT CHEAP TO PUT THE SECOND UMPIRE OUT AT THE FIELD AND THAT WE WOULD INCLUDE THE SECOND UMPIRE FOR THE GAMES TO INCREASE THE PRICE TO SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS A PLAYER.
SO THIS IS, THIS, IS THIS IN THE ANNUAL I MEAN THE SEASON FEE FOR SOMEBODY OR IS THIS PER GAME. NO THEY PAY THAT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON.
OK, SO IF THEY HAVE TEN DOLLARS, IF THEY HAVE TEN PLAYERS ON THEIR MINIMUM NUMBER OF PLAYERS ON THEIR TEAM. RIGHT.
SO THEY HAVE TEN, I MEAN YOU HAD TEN, NINE POINT NINETY NINE, SO YOU GOT TEN.
SO THEY'RE PAYING FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR THE SEASON TO HAVE A BASEBALL TEAM IN THE.
IS THAT RIGHT? THEY THEY AT PURPLY AIR BASE OVER THERE AND THEY DROPPED THE BALL AND THEY DRAFT IT IS GROWING.
SO I THINK WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR OR SO, WE'LL START TALKING MORE ABOUT TEAMS. SO YOU FEEL, I GUESS MY QUESTION TO YOU IS THIS, IS THIS ENOUGH TO COVER A SECOND UMPIRE BASED ON YOUR OLDER BROTHER? HOW MANY GAMES THEY PLAY? WANT 10 TO 12. OK, SO YOU'RE BASICALLY GET YOUR YOU'RE CHARGING ANOTHER 50 PERCENT OF EACH PLAYER FEE AND COVERING ANOTHER ONE, AN UMPIRE.
WE'RE GOING FROM 50 TO 70 PER CENT FOR.
SO, YES, SECOND, SECOND, I WOULD AGREE WITH THAT POST.
ALL RIGHT, AND THEN OUT OF STATE FAMILY, RIGHT.
SO OCCASIONALLY AND ANNIE BROUGHT THIS TO OUR ATTENTION.
SO OCCASIONALLY YOU'VE GOT A FAMILY THAT COMES FROM OUT OF STATE TO VISIT BRUCE AND BRUCE, THE SISTER AND HUSBAND AND TWO KIDS COME IN AND HE WANTS TO BRING THEM TO THE POOL TO SWIM. SO OUR CURRENT OUT-OF-STATE RATE IS TEN DOLLARS PER PERSON.
AND HE HAS COME AND ASK IF WE COULD LOOK AT MAYBE A REDUCED RATE.
AND SO LOOKING AT WHAT WE CURRENTLY CHARGE, HER SUGGESTION WAS THAT WE LOOK AT MAYBE A FAMILY RATE OF THIRTY DOLLARS FOR A FAMILY OF FOUR AND FIVE DOLLARS FOR EACH ADDITIONAL, YOU KNOW, FOR PEOPLE THAT ARE OUT OF TOWN VISITING AND WANT TO COME.
TO THE FACILITY, AND SO THESE PEOPLE DON'T HAVE TO COME WITH ANYBODY THAT'S A RESIDENT, THEY CAN JUST BE TOURISTS AND WANT TO COME TO THE POOL.
AND I'VE GOT TO PROBLEM MEAN IT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD.
GIVE ME A MOTION, I CAN GOING TO MEET UP, GO TO THE THESE ADDITIONAL I MEAN, IT'S LIKE THEY'RE BOTH ALL RIGHT.
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, LACROSSE ME.
SO OUR CURRENT RIGHT RIGHT NOW FOR LACROSSE IS SIXTY DOLLARS.
AND WE PROVIDE THE JERSEY, THE HELMET AND THE SHOULDER PADS.
THE SUGGESTED RATE WOULD BE 70 AND THIS WOULD INCLUDE ADDING SHORTS AND THE RECONDITIONING OF THE EQUIPMENT.
WE HAVE TO GET THE HELMETS RECONDITIONED.
HAFTER SO WHEN WE DID FOOTBALL, OUR FOOTBALL RATE WAS AT 70.
I THINK THAT THE EQUIPMENT MAY HAVE BEEN A LITTLE BIT MORE EXPENSIVE, BUT OUR CURRENT
[01:15:06]
RATE RIGHT NOW FOR WHAT WE'RE DOING IS SIXTY DOLLARS.SO THE SUGGESTED RATE INCREASE WOULD BE TO GO TO 70 TO AD SHORTS ON FOR THE PLAYERS, WHICH IS WHAT THEY'VE REQUESTED FOR EACH PLAYER.
AND THEN, YOU KNOW, LIKE I SAID, WE WE ABSORB THE COST OF BUYING THE HELMETS BY ON THE SHOULDER PADS MOUTHPIECE.
IS THAT MORE OF AN ISSUE NOW WITH COVID? I KNOW IN BASEBALL THEY ALL HAVE TO HAVE THEIR OWN HELMETS.
I MEAN, WE TAKE THESE HELMETS BACK, RIGHT? WE DO TAKE THEM BACK AND WE HAVE TO RECONDITION THEM TO BE STAMPED.
YOU MENTIONED A DEPOSIT FEE HERE.
DO WE HAVE IT? THAT'S A WHOLE DIFFERENT HOURS.
OK, SO THE DEPOSIT THE DEPOSIT FEE WAS ANOTHER SEPARATE FROM THE INCREASE.
WE HAD A COACH THAT CAME TO US AND HAS ASKED AND MAN TOSSED IT AROUND.
YOU KNOW, IT'S KIND OF ONE OF THESE THINGS.
YEAH. IT MAY NOT BE A BAD THING.
THERE'S A LOT OF PEOPLE ACROSS THE STATE THAT DO TAKES A 100 DOLLAR DEPOSIT, ONE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLAR DEPOSIT, AND YOU GIVE THEM BACK THEIR DEPOSIT WHEN THEY GIVE YOU BACK YOUR EQUIPMENT. WE JUST RECENTLY COLLECTED THE REST OF OUR LACROSSE EQUIPMENT AFTER COVID HIT.
AND, YOU KNOW, WE FINALLY HAD TO SAY, IF YOU WANT YOUR REFUND CHECK, YOU GOT TO BRING OUR EQUIPMENT BACK. OF COURSE THEY'RE THERE.
THEY HAD STARTED. SO THEIR REFUND WAS ONLY THIRTY DOLLARS.
THIRTY DOLLARS WOULD NOT HAVE EVEN BOUGHT A HELMET.
BUT PART OF, YOU KNOW, THE TWO OF US DISCUSSING IT SAID, YOU KNOW, WHAT WORRIES ME IS WHAT IF SOMEONE CAN'T AFFORD IT, YOU KNOW? AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE THE ISSUE OF WE'VE GOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE REFUNDS THAT HAVE TO BE MY QUESTION. WHAT'S THAT GOING TO DO WITH YOUR STAFF? NOT OUR STAFF FINANCE AND MY HEAD MAY BE ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK FOR IT, BUT, YOU KNOW, SO BUT ONE OF THE COACHES CAME TO US AND SAID, I THINK WE NEED TO DO A DEPOSIT.
SO, YOU KNOW, BECAUSE THEY TRY TO HELP US TO COLLECT THE EQUIPMENT.
AND, YOU KNOW, YOU SAID THAT YOU DON'T WE'RE NOT DOING IT BY NOW, BUT WE DID THAT.
WAS THERE ANY TYPE DEPOSIT WITH THAT? WE DID NOT. BUT THAT IDEA WAS TOSSED.
I MEAN, IT WE TALKED ABOUT SHOULD WE BRING TO THE BOARD TO DO A DEPOSIT ON THAT AS WELL? IT JUST FOOTBALL WENT AWAY BEFORE THAT CAME ON BOARD.
I MEAN, IT IS SOMETHING THAT IS DONE AROUND THE STATE.
I THINK I THINK IN GENERAL YOU SHOULD COLLECT A DEPOSIT BECAUSE THAT GIVES THEM INCENTIVE TO BRING STUFF BACK. ON THE OTHER HAND, I MEAN, THIS THIS RECREATION DEPARTMENT IS NOT GOING TO GET SMALLER. IT'S ONLY GOING TO GET BIGGER.
AND OBVIOUSLY MANAGING ALL OF IT IS VERY DIFFICULT, AS YOU KNOW.
AND SO I THINK IF WE HAVE A HISTORY OF OF SPORTS THAT ARE EQUIPMENT INTENSIVE AND WE'RE REALIZING THAT WE'RE GOING TO LOSE 15 PERCENT OF THE EQUIPMENT EVERY YEAR BECAUSE PEOPLE AREN'T BRINGING STUFF BACK, THEN YOU HAVE TO ASSIGN A DOLLAR NUMBER TO WHATEVER THAT IS.
AND SO YOU EITHER MAKE THEM GIVE YOU A DEPOSIT, WHICH IS GOING TO COVER ALL OF THAT, OR YOU DECIDE TO INCREASE THE FEE BY FIVE BUCKS.
A PARTICIPANT RECOGNIZING THAT FIVE DOLLARS IS GOING INTO A, YOU KNOW, RESERVE FOR A REPLACEMENT FUND.
I MEAN, I THINK YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT IT EITHER WAY.
AND I CAN SEE WHERE CREDIT'S AND, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE BRINGING STUFF BACK IN THAT COULD BECOME, YOU KNOW, AN ISSUE.
SO I JUST THINK YOU HAVE TO COVER THAT ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.
AND THAT AND THAT MAY BE SOMETHING THAT MAY BE A GOOD YOU KNOW, WE TAKE AND GO FROM 60 TO 70 AND OUT OF THE SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS GOES INTO A FUND ACCOUNT THAT IS FOR REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT. YEAH. I MEAN, I DON'T KNOW BECAUSE YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE ONCE EQUIPMENT GETS TO A CERTAIN AGE, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE IT ANYWAY, AND THAT'S NORMAL. SO I DON'T KNOW IF THERE'S A BIG ATTRITION RATE, BUT I KNOW THAT, YOU KNOW, IF YOU KNOW, IF YOU HAVE A PROGRAM WHERE YOU GAVE EVERYBODY A BASEBALL BAT AND A LITTLE BIT OF BASEBALL BAT AND WANTED THEM ALL BACK AT THE END OF THE SEASON, YOU START RUNNING INTO REAL MONEY THERE. SO SO I'M IN FAVOR OF OF WHATEVER YOU BELIEVE IS BETTER TO DO.
I MEAN, EITHER EITHER THAT A PORTION OF THE FEE BEING ALLOCATED TOWARD THE THINGS THAT PEOPLE ARE BRINGING STUFF BACK.
AH. OR DOING IT BECAUSE THAT'S JUST MY PERCEPTION.
I THINK THAT WOULD BE A BETTER IDEA JUST BECAUSE IT WORRIES ME.
IT DOES WORRY ME. YOU KNOW, THAT IF LITTLE JOHNNY COMES AND SAYS I DON'T HAVE HIS MOM SAYS I DON'T HAVE ONE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS FOR Y'ALL TO HOLD FOR THREE MONTHS, YOU KNOW, IS HE IS HE NOT GOING TO GET TO PLAY?
[01:20:01]
AND THAT THAT BOTHERS THE IDEA OF RAISING THE RATES A LITTLE BIT TO HELP COVER THAT.BUT I ALSO KNOW FOR THESE GUYS TRYING TO GO OUT AND COLLECT THAT EQUIPMENT IS A NIGHTMARE AND HAVE A NEED TO GO BANG ON DOORS.
AND THEY LOOK TO THE LAST 10 FOR RECREATION AGAIN.
WELL, I THINK THAT I THINK THAT ANY ANY SPORTS PROGRAM I MEAN, YOU KNOW, I'VE SAID THIS REPEATEDLY. I KNOW.
WE'VE HAD ISSUES WITH THE WITH THE SOFTWARE THAT WE WENT TO AND BUT THESE PROGRAMS, YOU KNOW, NEED TO BE EVALUATED WHETHER OR NOT HOW MUCH WE'RE REALLY SUBSIDIZING THEM, HOW MUCH USER FEES ARE COVERING THEM.
AND WHEN YOU HAVE A PROGRAM THAT IS CAPITAL INTENSIVE WITH EQUIPMENT, YOU KNOW, YOU HAVE TO YOU HAVE TO THINK OF THOSE THINGS.
YES. AND SO AND I WOULD AGREE THAT SOMEONE IS MORE APT TO SPEND AN EXTRA TEN DOLLARS.
THEY'RE NOT GOING TO NOT THEY'RE NOT.
IF WE GET FROM 70 TO 80 DOLLARS TO COVER THE EQUIPMENT, WHATEVER THAT NUMBER IS, THEY'RE MORE APT TO DO THAT THAN GIVE YOU A CREDIT CARD FOR 150 BUCKS.
AND AND I GENERALLY THINK THAT MOST PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND BRING THE EQUIPMENT BACK. BUT I DON'T KNOW IN TERMS OF, YOU KNOW, WHAT THE EXPERIENCE IS, HAS BEEN.
AND AGAIN, LACROSSE IS A RELATIVELY NEW SPORT.
RIGHT. SO, YOU KNOW, BASKETBALL IS NOT A REAL CAPITAL INTENSIVE SPORT.
SO I THINK IT VARIES BY THE SPORT.
AND I MAY THINK LACROSSE FOR YOUR TIME.
SO BUT ALSO TO FURTHER THAT YOU'RE YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT A DEPOSIT ON TOP OF THE REGISTRATION FEE AS WELL.
SO YOU'RE NOT TALKING ABOUT ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY.
YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT 20 BUCKS.
RIGHT. BETWEEN YOU KNOW, BETWEEN.
RIGHT. AND NARULA LIMIT PARTICIPATION.
YEAH. THIS IS JUST TO GET IT STARTED.
I MEAN, THAT'S I THINK THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY TO THINK ABOUT.
BUT IF WE'RE GOING THE OTHER WAY ROUND, I DON'T KNOW THAT NECESSARILY FIVE DOLLARS WOULD COVER IT FOR LIKE THE LAST FEW YEARS, WE HAD ROUGHLY 70.
YEAH. THEY'RE NOT SAYING THE FIVE DOLLARS WOULD COVER THOSE AREAS THEN.
I MEAN, WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND? WE HAD 70 SOME OF THE KIDS IN OUR PROGRAM THIS YEAR, WHICH TO MY KNOWLEDGE OF THE MOST EVER OVERHEAD. AND IT'S GOING UP.
AND YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT ABOUT ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS PER HALMET.
SO FIVE DOLLARS FOR SEVENTY KIDS IS THREE HUNDRED FIFTY.
SO I MEAN, FOR 17 KIDS NOW, BRANDON, YOU GET A QUICK ALL 70 KIDS, A LOT OF LACROSSE HAS THEIR OWN. BUT I WOULD SAY WE CAME OUT LIKE IT'S CLOSE TO 20 TO 25 HELMETS.
SO I DON'T KNOW THAT NECESSARILY.
THREE. HOW MANY HAVE COME BACK? HOW MANY DID WE HAVE YET THAT WE HAVE OUR ABILITY TO PICK UP TOMORROW? OK, SO I YOU KNOW, ONE DAY TO BUY IT FOR ACTUAL.
THAT'S WHAT I MEAN. YOU'RE IN THE TRENCHES, YOU'RE DOING THIS STUFF.
SO YOU'RE THE PERSON WITH THE ANSWERS TO THE QUESTION.
SO I GUESS WHAT I WOULD SAY IS IF WE'VE GOT TO SPEND 200 DOLLARS TO OUTFIT A KID TO PLAY LACROSSE. RIGHT.
I MEAN, IF THAT'S THE NUMBER AND AND WE'RE GETTING EIGHTY DOLLARS IN A FEE.
RIGHT. TO RUN IT, WE'RE OPERATING THAT IN THE HOLE FOR THE FIRST YEAR UNTIL WE RE AMORTIZE THE COST OF OUR EQUIPMENT.
RIGHT. SO SO I'M NOT SAYING THAT'S A BAD THING TO DO.
THAT'S AN INVESTMENT IN A PROGRAM.
AND THOSE HELMETS, IF THEY'RE PROPERLY TAKING CARE OF THE SHELF LIFE, WHAT, FIVE YEARS LATER YOU'RE SAYING, YEAH, OK, THERE'S BEEN A YEAH.
AND RECERTIFICATION HAS GOTTEN A RECOGNITION, HAS GOT EVEN MORE STRINGENT, YOU KNOW, USED TO BE BASICALLY YOU MIGHT SEND THEM OFF EVERY FIVE YEARS, YOU KNOW, OR MAYBE SEND TWENTY DOLLARS OFF YOU NOW YOU KNOW, IS SAFETY IS THE UTMOST CONCERN.
YOU HAVE EVERY OTHER YEAR MAKE SURE HAPPENS AND YOU KNOW HOW THAT GOES.
YOU KNOW, YOU SEND IN OFF AND YOU'RE GOING TO GET, YOU KNOW, FORTY FIVE, MAYBE THIRTY FIVE. SO THE COSTS GOING UP.
YEAH. SO IS THAT CAN PAY SEVENTY FIVE FOR LACROSSE.
NOT GOING TO PAY. NOT GOING TO.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE WE GOING TO LOSE IF IT GOES TO ONE HUNDRED.
AND THEN DO WE HAVE SCHOLARSHIPS TO OFFSET THOSE KIDS.
WE DO HAVE SCHOLARSHIPS BUT I MEAN MY SUGGESTION IS THAT WE DON'T JUMP FROM 60 TO 100.
YOU SAID IT. TOMORROW IS THE DAY THAT YOU'LL START COLLECTING THE GEAR.
OK, AND WHEN'S THE NEXT LACROSSE SEASON? HOW DOES THIS WORK? CHRONOLOGICALLY, WE'RE STARTING IN THE SAY AGAIN.
DO WE HAVE THE FALL? SORRY. I'M SORRY, BUT WE'VE ONLY RAN IN THE SPRING.
NO, WE'LL HAVE A LITTLE ROOM FOR SOMEONE WHO SAID, OK, WE DON'T NEED TO BOARD WITH HIM.
WE RAISE THE RATE TO SEVENTY DOLLARS.
THAT WOULD NOW INCLUDE THE SHORTS IN THE RECONDITIONING AND THAT WOULD HOLD OFF ON ANY ADDITIONAL DEPOSIT OR ANY OTHER FEES.
[01:25:02]
HOWEVER, AT OUR NEXT MEETING IN JULY, WE'D LOVE A REPORT ON HOW MUCH OF THIS GEAR CAME BACK AND, YOU KNOW, AND MAYBE ATTEMPT TO ASSESS THAT IF IT'S AN ISSUE.AND IT WAS NOT. IT'S NOT. SO THAT'S MY MOTION.
AND DID YOU WANT ALL SEVENTY TO STAY IN REGISTRATION OR THE FIVE DOLLARS TO GO TO THE FUNDING FOR THE EQUIPMENT? WE COVER THE SHORTS AND THE RECONDITIONING.
AND I MY ASSUMPTION WAS THAT WAS A COST THAT WAS NEEDED FOR THAT KIND OF.
I WOULD SECOND THAT AND THEN WE DO THE DISCUSSION IN JULY ON WHAT THE ACTUAL COST WAS ON GETTING THE STUFF BACK, YOU KNOW, AND THEN WE CAN MAKE A MORE A FAIR AMOUNT.
OK, IN MY COMMENT, AGAIN, IF WE HAVE IF WE HAVE A SPORT THAT'S CAPITAL INTENSIVE THAT USED THIS AS KIND OF A TEMPLATE FOR WHAT WE WANT TO PUT IN AN ANNUAL FEE TO COVER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE EQUIPMENT ON AN ONGOING BASIS, I THINK THAT WOULD BE SMART.
WE HAD A SECOND. ANY QUESTIONS ON FAVORITE? BOTH. ALL RIGHT.
SO THE POOL RESURFACE, UPDATE THE BLUFFTON, THE BEAUTIFUL POOL HAS ALREADY BEEN RESURFACED, THE BLUFFTON POOL STARTS TO RESURFACE ON IT JUNE THE 1ST AND BATTERY CREEK RIGHT NOW IS OUT FOR BID.
THE NAMING OF THE LIN BROWN POOL.
IF YOU LOOK IN YOUR PACKET, I WANTED IT.
I WANTED IT NOTED FOR THE BOARD MINUTES.
I GOT THIS EMAIL FROM MR. FRED WASHINGTON JR.
WE HAD ALVIN SETTLES, WHO WAS OUR POOL MANAGER AT THE OUTDOOR POOL FOR MANY, MANY YEARS, TAUGHT MANY OF THE KIDS, INCLUDING SOME OF OUR LIFEGUARDS, TO SWIM, PASSED AWAY.
AND HE CALLED IN OR SENT ME THIS EMAIL AND CALLED ME AND ASKED ME ABOUT NAMING THE LIN BROWN POOL AFTER ALVIN SETTLES.
THE PROBLEM THAT WE HAVE IS WITH NAMING FACILITIES.
WE STILL HAVE IT ON THE MINUTES FOR ARTHUR MIDDLETON, FOR THE TENNIS COURTS, BUT THEY HAVE TO BE DEAD FOR TEN YEARS PER COUNTY COUNCIL.
SO I WANTED IT IN THE MINUTES AND WANTED IT NOTED, BECAUSE WE HAVE SINCE THEN HAD PEOPLE THAT HAVE COME TO US ABOUT NAMING THE DOWNTOWN TENNIS COURT, OTHER NAMES.
AND WE HAVE ALREADY OF LET THEM KNOW THAT IT'S ALREADY BEEN VOTED BY THE BOARD FOR ARTHUR MIDDLETON. BUT WE HAVE TO WAIT THE TIME PERIOD.
CAN I ASK A QUESTION? I KNOW THAT WE RENAME A BASEBALL FIELD FOR A YOUNG BOY WHO PASSED AWAY, BRUCE HAD TO LEAVE THE PORT ROYAL.
WHERE? WELL, NO, I WASN'T REFERENCING THAT, BUT OK, AT OSCAR FRASER, TYRONE RIVERS, THE FIELD, BUT NOT THE FACILITY.
OK, SO, SO SO THERE'S DIFFERENT RULES FOR NAMING A COURT OR SOMETHING FOR SOMEBODY.
SO IT'S POSSIBLE THAT YOU COULD NAME WE COULD NAME A COURT AND I MEAN, WOULDN'T NAME THE WHOLE FACILITY AFTER HIM, BUT WE COULD NAME A FIELD, YOU KNOW.
YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING? SO THERE'S SOME INTERIM THING HERE.
I MEAN, IS THERE SOME WAY THAT WE CAN DO THIS FOR PEOPLE THAT ARE DESERVING THAT DOESN'T FLY IN THE FACE OF 10 YEARS, LONG TIME? I'M GOING TO LET CHUCK TAKE THAT ONE FOR YOU SO I CAN TAKE YOU BACK TO COMMUNITY SERVICES AND HAVE A DISCUSSION ABOUT SOME MAYBE, I GUESS IS WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT.
BUT I DON'T MY MY POINT IS AFTER MILT'S AND HE HE GAVE A LOT TO THIS COMMUNITY.
AND, YOU KNOW, FOR EXAMPLE, I MEAN, IF IF WE NEED TO FEEL THAT BURDEN MOST MORAL, THERE'LL BE AT LEAST SOMETHING THAT WE CAN NAME.
AND WHAT I WAS TOLD WAS NOW WHEN WE NAME THE FIELDS AT OSCAR, THAT WAS BEFORE THE TEN YEAR RIGHT.
WAS VOTED ON, I WAS TOLD THAT WE CAN BRING THAT TO COUNCIL AND ASK COUNCIL.
YOU KNOW, WE DID ALL THIS AND THEN COVID HIT IN.
SO, YOU KNOW, BUT IF WE ARE GOING TO DO THAT, I WOULD PREFER THAT WE DO TWO AT ONE.
NO, NOT I WOULD HIT THEM TWICE.
THESE TWO PEOPLE, I AM SURE WE CAN FEEL COUNCIL CHAMBERS IN THE HALLWAY BECAUSE I WORKED WITH MR. SALES FOR MANY YEARS WHEN I WAS WITH THE COUNTY REC AND MOST OF THE PEOPLE LEARN TO SWIM FROM HIM, KNOW HOW TO SWIM NORTH OF THE BROADS.
[01:30:01]
HE DID A FANTASTIC JOB.HE SPENT THE SUMMERS THERE, LET ALONE SOME OF THE THINGS THAT HAPPENED WHILE THERE.
AND THE SAME WITH MR. MIDDLETON. SO, YEAH, I WOULD ENCOURAGE IF WE CAN STAY WITH THE COUNCIL FOR A VOTE, I WOULD BE SHOCKED IF IT DIDN'T GO ON EITHER.
SO WE WILL DO THAT IN A SECOND.
SO AND SO WITH THE SPIRIT OF WASHINGTON TO BE CONTACTED ME AND I THINK MR. STEELE OF BROUGHT IN THE BILLS AND WILL WORK WHAT THIS NEW ENTITY IS A BASKETBALL FOR MYSELF TO. AND HE TAUGHT IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
HE DID A LOT FOR US. TWENTY YEARS AND TWENTY YEARS ON THE BOARD.
WELL, I UNDERSTAND IT MAKES SENSE TO HAVE A HAVE A COOLING OFF PERIOD JUST TO SEE HOW SOMEONE, YOU KNOW.
CORRECT. BUT IN OTHER SITUATIONS, YOU KNOW, IT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE TO WRITE DO SOMETHING FOR THEM. OK, WE WILL WE WILL DO THAT.
IF YOU LOOK AT YOUR VERY LAST PAGE IN YOUR PACKET, MY BEAUTIFUL DRAWING OF THE TENNIS COURTS, AT YOUR POINT, THIS IS WHAT WE'RE GOING TO OH, WE'RE IN THE PROCESS OF DOING A REQUISITION THAT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE.
ONE COURT IS THEIR TENNIS AND WE WILL DO TWO PICKLEBALL COURTS THERE WITH THE AS YOU SEE THE FENCE, THE FOUR FOOT FENCE IN BETWEEN, AND THEY'LL BE WALKING AROUND EACH SIDE.
SO THAT WILL GIVE THE PARK MORE FLEXIBILITY AND PEOPLE WILL HAVE MORE USE OUT OF THE PARK THAN JUST TENNIS. THEY'LL BE ABLE TO USE IT FOR PICKLEBALL.
I HAVEN'T HEARD OF PICKLEBALL, WOMAN, ALTHOUGH IT SEEMS LIKE THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS BINGO, THE MEN ON ME THAT HAD TO PUT IT IN CIVIL COURTS ALREADY, BUT BINGO, IT HAS COME AS A REQUEST THAT WE HOST BINGO NIGHTS SO WE DON'T HAVE ANY TYPE OF FEES SET UP.
WE'VE GOT TO GET AMANDA TO COME UP HERE AND CHIME IN ON THIS BECAUSE AMANDA SEEMS TO PLAY BINGO. OH.
SO SHE'S PROBABLY GOING TO NEED DOING TO THIS WITH.
WELL, I ACTUALLY LEARNED WE PLAYED BINGO ON THE AIR STATION, MY HUSBAND'S RETIRED MILITARY, SO THAT'S WHERE WE PLAY ON BASE AND WE HAVE A HOOT.
WE DON'T WE DON'T PLAY FOR MONEY.
AND IT'S JUST A GOOD TIME TO GET PEOPLE FROM THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER.
WHEN YOU MEET PEOPLE FROM YOUNG ONES, OLDER ONES AND SPOUSES, GRANDPARENTS COME AND IT'S JUST A LOT OF FUN.
WE JUST DO A BASIC 10 PAGE GAME.
WE GET LITTLE BOOKS OF THEM AND THERE'S MUSIC PLAYING AND WE JUST GO THROUGH.
WE HAVE A GIANT BINGO BOARD LIKE VANNA WHITE.
THEY COME OVER AND THEY HAVE THE LITTLE BALL AND SOMEBODY GOES IN TERMS BE2 AND THEY CALL IT OUT. AND IT'S JUST A REALLY GOOD TIME.
AND I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE WOULD ENJOY IT FOR THE COMMUNITY.
SO I'VE NOT REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT THE FEES.
BUT NOW WE ACTUALLY DON'T PAY ANYTHING ON THE AIR.
AND IT'S A IT'S A SERVICE PROVIDED TO US FOR FREE.
BUT SOMETHING REASONABLE WOULD BE LIKE TWO DOLLARS A CARD.
THEY COME IN SHEETS OF TEN IN PACKS OF TEN.
SO EVEN AT LIKE IF THEY PAID A GUY TO BOOK A TENT, IT'D BE 20 DOLLARS.
AND IF WE DID PRIZES THAT WERE ROUGHLY ABOUT 20 DOLLARS EACH, IF I HAD A GROUP OF 20 FOLKS SHOW UP, THAT WOULD BE A DECENT TURNOUT TO DO.
KEEPING NUMBERS SMALL IN A ROOM THIS SIZE.
THAT WOULD BE, YOU KNOW, GIFT CARDS OR, YOU KNOW, HAVE A THEME, BARBECUE THEME, THE LITTLE GRIDDLE THINGS THAT YOU CAN PROVIDE FOR THE SUMMERTIME.
SO, YEAH, THAT'S KIND OF WHAT I WAS THINKING.
YOU I'M I'M KIND OF STEALING THE IDEA FROM FROM THE MILITARY.
SO JACKSONVILLE NAVAL BASE CLOSED THEIR ENTIRE PROGRAM WITH THE PROCEEDS OF THEIR BINGO GO TWO NIGHTS A WEEK. I THINK I COSTS AS MUCH AS TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS.
THEY'LL ACCRUE IN VALUE OVER TIME.
I DON'T EXACTLY KNOW HOW, BUT I'VE JUST SEEN SOME OF THE RETURNS ON IT.
AND YEAH, THEY CAN BE VERY PROFITABLE.
AND YOU'RE RIGHT, IT DOES BRING A LOT OF PEOPLE TOGETHER, YOUNG AND OLD, AND IT CAN BE A FUN GROUP. SO YOU YOU MENTIONED YOU HAVE LOTS OF PEOPLE ASK YOU ABOUT THIS.
THESE PEOPLE HAD JUST COME UP TO THE FRONT DOOR.
WELL, WE'VE HAD PEOPLE CALL PEOPLE WANT TO SEE MORE COMMUNITY EVENTS.
YEAH. YOU KNOW, SO WE'VE HAD PEOPLE CALL IN.
AND, YOU KNOW, DO WE HAVE A GROUP IS THERE A BINGO GROUP THAT WOULD MEET IN A FACILITY? IS THERE SOMETHING THAT WE WOULD TAKE OVER AND BUY THE EQUIPMENT AND THEN DO ALL THAT
[01:35:01]
JAZZ OR I MEAN, WE WOULD THAT WE WOULD ADD OR IT WOULD BE A PROGRAM THAT WE WOULD HAVE.SO WE WOULD OFFER IT, YOU KNOW, SAY WE DID IT THE THIRD SATURDAY OF THE MONTH OR WHATEVER, YOU KNOW, AND IT WOULD BE SOMETHING THAT WE WOULD ADVERTISE FOR CENTERS.
I WOULD PERSONALLY PROBABLY TRY TO DO IT BOTH NORTH AND SOUTH, YOU KNOW.
AND MY THOUGHT WAS IF WE CHARGE FOR THE BINGO CARDS, THEN WE USE THAT MONEY TO GET THE EQUIPMENT AND THE PRIZES.
YOU KNOW, ANYBODY'S GOING TO JUST PLAY BINGO FOR A TEN DOLLAR CHECK FOR, LIKE, ART.
JUST SAYING, HEY, AND SIT IN THAT TWO HOUR LINE.
IF YOU THINK IT'S A PROGRAM THAT WE SHOULD ADD AS A AS A AS A RECREATIONAL PROGRAM, I WOULD CERTAINLY BE IN FAVOR OF YOU INVESTIGATING AND MAKING A PROPOSAL.
I MEAN, I THINK WE NEED TO DO MORE PROGRAMS AT OUR CENTERS.
WE NEED TO GET MORE ACTIVITIES.
YOU KNOW, WE USED TO DO THE HALLOWEEN, WE USED TO DO THE HAUNTED HOUSE.
WE YOU KNOW, WE HAD DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES.
WE WOULD DO MOMS NIGHT OUT AND, YOU KNOW, HAVE PEOPLE HERE AND THEY DROP THEIR KIDS OFF TO PLAY BASKETBALL FOR FIFTEEN DOLLARS FOR TWO HOURS.
AND MOM AND DAD GOT TO GO EAT DINNER.
SO MY QUESTION TO YOU IS, DO YOU NEED US TO APPROVE A NEW PROGRAM OR IS THAT SOMETHING YOU CAN DO ON YOUR OWN? IT'S NOT REALLY THE PROGRAM.
IT WOULD BE THE FEE. WE CAN DO OUR OWN PROGRAMS, BUT I CAN'T SET THE FEES FOR THE PROGRAMS. THAT'S UP TO YOU GUYS TO SET THE FEES FOR THE PROGRAMS YOU CHECK WITH STATE GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS, BINGOS.
WELL, I HOPE THAT THE MILITARY DOES IT WELL.
YEAH, SORT OF LIKE, YOU KNOW, HAVING RAFFLES AND A LOT OF THE REGULATIONS FOR YOU OPERATION. OK, WELL, I MEAN, I WILL CHECK.
I WILL DEFINITELY I CERTAINLY DON'T WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO BE PART OF ANY PROGRAM THAT WE CAN DO IN OUR CENTERS THAT HOPEFULLY WILL COVER ITS EXPENSES, INCLUDING OUR OVERHEAD AND MAYBE IN CONTRIBUTING TO THE TO WHAT IT COSTS US TO RUN IT AND GIVE MORE SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY. SO I'M TOTALLY IN FAVOR OF THAT.
THAT'S SOMETHING WE THINK WE SHOULD DO.
DO WE NEED A MOTION OR DO YOU JUST NEED TO REALLY JUST GOING TO GO? I WOULD TELL, BUT I GUESS IF YOU NEED IT, YOU NEED A MOTION FROM US TO CHARGE THE BE CORRECT. BEFORE THAT, WE HAVE THE TWO DOLLARS.
THESE ARE BEING ON THAT BASED UPON PARKADE BERGA.
YEAH, SOMEBODY SOMEBODY NEEDS TO RUN THE NUMBERS, SO WE'RE NOT IT'S NOT COSTING US FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. BINGO NIGHT.
WELL, YOU KNOW, LIKE ANY OF OUR OTHER PROGRAMS, IF YOU SEE SOMETHING LIKE THAT, THAT'S NOT GOING TO. RIGHT.
SECOND, IT HASN'T BEEN IN ANY OTHER DISCUSSION ON FAITH.
ALL RIGHT. IT'S BEEN A LONG 14 MONTHS.
BUT I THINK YOU'VE HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD.
PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO GET OUT STARTED.
I'M GOOD, MAN. IF I WERE PLAYING SPORTS AGAIN, I'M JUST GOING TO GIVE A LITTLE RUNDOWN ON, YOU KNOW, COVID AND, YOU KNOW, OUR REGISTRATION NUMBERS, SPORTS AND TOURNAMENTS AND WHATNOT OVER THE LAST LAST YEAR.
AND, YOU KNOW, THE SPRING WAS TOUGH FOR US, AS HAS MOST.
IT WAS FOR EVERYBODY ELSE AND BUT ESPECIALLY FOR THE RIGHT DEPARTMENT AND SPORTS.
YOU KNOW, WE POSTPONED ON MARCH 13TH AND NO IDEA INSIDE OF WHEN WE WOULD, YOU KNOW, RETURN TO TO PLAY.
BUT, YOU KNOW, LUCKILY ENOUGH, YOU KNOW, EVERYTHING AT LEAST GOT BACK TO WHERE WE COULD GET KIDS OUT, YOU KNOW, IN JUNE.
BUT IT WASN'T THAT IT WAS DEFINITELY OUT OF COST.
THE ONLY SPORT THAT WE DIDN'T RESTART WAS BLUFFTON LACROSSE.
IT WAS ONE OF THOSE THAT, YOU KNOW, THAT KIND OF CONTACT CLOSE, YOU KNOW, WEARING THE EQUIPMENT AND, YOU KNOW, AT THE TIME, YOU KNOW, WITH BREATHING AND WHATNOT, YOU KNOW, ON EACH OTHER AT A CLOSE PROXIMITY LIKE THAT WAS JUST NOT SOMETHING THAT WE DIDN'T WANT TO GET INTO. AND MOST ANYBODY DIDN'T WANT TO.
SO WE DIDN'T HAVE BOTH IN LACROSSE RESTART.
BUT ALL THE REST OF OUR SPRING SPORTS IN SOME CAPACITY RESUMED.
BUT WE DID LOSE. AS YOU CAN SEE, WE GAVE OUT ROUGHLY SEVEN HUNDRED AND SIXTY THREE REFUNDS OR CREDITS, WHICH WOULD PROBABLY EQUAL CLOSE TO FORTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS IN LOST PROFITS. SO, YOU KNOW, IT WAS A GOOD CHUNK.
I MEAN, WE STILL HAD A LOT OF KIDS PLAYING.
BUT, YOU KNOW, IT WAS IT WAS TOUGH FOR US THERE FOR A WHILE, FOR THE SUMMER SPORTS, YOU KNOW, BASKETBALL WITH IT BEING INDOORS.
YOU KNOW, OBVIOUSLY THERE WEREN'T MANY PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF THE COUNTRY EVEN TRYING BASKETBALL.
SO WE DIDN'T EITHER. WE THOUGHT IT WASN'T IN THE BEST INTERESTS.
SO WE CANCEL THE SUMMER BASKETBALL PROGRAMS BOTH AND BE FROM BLUFFTON.
[01:40:03]
DIDN'T HAVE MANY.WE ONLY, I THINK, HAD TWO TEAMS SIGNED UP.
SO JUST THERE WAS AN INTEREST AT THE TIME WHENEVER COVER WAS FULL AND FULL EFFECT FOR THE FALL. OBVIOUSLY WE'RE GETTING BACK TO SOME SORT OF NORMALCY, BUT NUMBERS OBVIOUSLY WERE LOW. THAT WAS STILL A POINT WHERE, YOU KNOW, PARENTS WEREN'T SOME PARENTS WEREN'T SAFE LETTING THEIR KIDS PLAY, PLUS THE MASSIVE MANDATES, YOU KNOW, BY THE CDC ALONG WITH OUR STATE. JUST, YOU KNOW, WE HAD EVEN WITH IT BEING OUTDOORS, PARENTS STILL HAD TO WEAR MASKS. SO IT WAS TOUGH.
THEY GOT A LOT OF ANGRY PARENTS AND PATRONS COMING TO THE PARKS AND WHATNOT WHEN THEY WERE TELLING THEM TO PLEASE PUT ON THE MASKS EVEN IF THEY WERE OUTDOORS.
BUT AS YOU CAN SEE, HERE'S OUR NUMBERS.
I WASN'T REALLY GOING TO GO OVER THESE TOO MUCH.
I DIDN'T WANT TO GO OVER THE NUMBERS FROM TWO THOUSAND NINETEEN VERSUS FALL TWENTY TWENTY. IT WAS GOING TO BE REALLY SKEWED.
SO BUT JUST TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF OF WHAT WE HAD AND SOME OF THE NUMBERS WERE STILL PRETTY GOOD, BUT COMPARED TO PREVIOUS YEARS, IT WAS STILL RATHER LACKING OF ONE OR TWENTY TWENTY ONE WITH YOUTH BASKETBALL.
THAT'S WHEN, YOU KNOW, EVERYTHING STARTED PICKING UP.
PEOPLE FELT A LITTLE SAFER, EVEN IF IT WAS INDOORS OF PARTICIPATING.
WE DID HAVE A STRICT ONLY ONE PARENT OR GUARDIAN COULD COME IN THE IF YOU HAD SIBLINGS THEY COULD COME IN AS WELL.
BUT WE WEREN'T ALLOWING JUST ANYBODY TO COME TO THE GYM WHEN WE HAD TO USE BASKETBALL.
SO IT AFFECTED OUR NUMBERS A LITTLE BIT.
BUT WE STILL HAD A GOOD SIZED PROGRAM.
AS YOU CAN SEE BEFORE WAS ONLY TWO KIDS.
SURE. FROM WHAT IT WAS THE PREVIOUS YEAR AND BLOCKED.
IT WAS ONLY SIX KIDS OR SIX KIDS SHORT.
AND THEN IN THE SPRING REALLY STARTED PICKING UP THERE WHERE WE ACTUALLY FINALLY SAW INCREASES IN NUMBERS.
WE DEFINITELY SAW SOME DECREASES BE FOR BASEBALL.
THIS THE SPRING IS DOWN ABOUT FORTY KIDS.
YOU KNOW, THERE'S ALL KINDS OF THINGS, TRAVEL, BALL AND WHATNOT.
WE GOT A LOT OF OLDER KIDS THAT ARE REALLY MOVING TOWARDS A TRAVEL BALL AT AGE 11 ESPECIALLY. SO WE SAW A LITTLE REDUCTION THERE, BUT FLAG FOOTBALL WAS UP.
ELEVEN KIDS, NEW SOCCER WAS UP.
THIRTY EIGHT KIDS. SO THAT WAS GOOD TO SEE.
BLUFFTON YOUTH BASEBALL IS REALLY DOWN.
ALMOST ONE HUNDRED KIDS, NOT REALLY SURE WHAT THAT WHERE THAT COULD BE ATTESTED TO.
YOU KNOW, AS YOU CAN SEE, FLAG FOOTBALL IS UP.
FORTY EIGHT KIDS AND THAT'S PROBABLY OUR FASTEST GROWING SPORT RIGHT NOW.
ONE NEWS PROGRAM THAT WE STARTED WITH A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BLUFFTON FOOTBALL CLUB IS GAELIC FOOTBALL. I'M NOT SURE IF YOU EVER HEARD OF.
I NEVER HEARD OF IT BEFORE UNTIL WE WERE CLOSE BY.
NOW, ARCHIBOLD, HE'S A NATIVE OF IRELAND AND EVIDENTALLY IS THE MOST POPULAR SPORT IN IRELAND. AND HE IS PASSIONATE ABOUT IF YOU GOT AN OSCAR FRAIZER ON SATURDAYS, HE HAS YOUTH CLINICS AND THEN.
BEHIND ANC RALLY THREE ON TUESDAY NIGHTS, HE HAS A GROUP OF, AS YOU CAN SEE, 30 ADULTS RIGHT NOW. THEY GO OUT THERE EVERY TUESDAY AND IT'S LITERALLY A COMBINATION OF SOCCER, RUGBY AND BASKETBALL.
YOU CAN RUN SO FAR, BUT YOU HAVE TO EITHER DRIBBLE OR KICK IT, YOU KNOW, KICK THE BALL.
REALLY CRAZY LOOKING FOR SPORT.
BUT ANYWAY, I THINK IT'S REALLY IT'S REALLY STARTING TO BOOM WITH THE ADULTS SAY.
I THINK I THINK LAST YEAR WHEN HE FIRST APPROACHED US, THEY FINALLY GOT AROUND 11 PEOPLE OUT THERE AND IT'S ALREADY GROWN TO 30.
AND THEY'RE ALMOST TO THE POINT WHERE THEY WANT TO START HAVING FIVE FIVE LEAGUES BECAUSE EVIDENTLY THERE'S A PRETTY BIG FIVE FIVE THE FIVE LEAGUE IN SAVANNAH.
SO WE HAVE TO BE LOOKING FORWARD TO GIVE AN UPDATE ON THE NUMBERS IN THE FALL BECAUSE HE WANTS TO DO CLINICS AND COURSES.
ACTUALLY, COST IS ZERO FOR US.
BESIDES THE WEAR AND TEAR ON THE FIELDS, THEIR CLUB PAYS FOR THE GOALS THAT THEY PUT OUT THERE ALONG WITH ALL THE BALLS AND ANYTHING LIKE THAT.
SO THERE'S BEEN NO COST TO US OF SOCCER NUMBERS IN BLUFFTON.
THAT'S A LITTLE THEY'RE DOWN ONE HUNDRED AND WE'RE DOWN TO 128 KIDS.
IT'S A LITTLE SKEWED. LAST SPRING WE I THINK WE HAD LIKE NINE HUNDRED AND TWENTY KIDS IN IT. THAT'S THE MOST I THINK WE'VE HAD IN A LONG TIME OR IF EVER IN BLUFFTON.
SO THE NUMBERS ARE A LITTLE SKEWED JUST BECAUSE WE HAD SUCH A BIG PROGRAM IN TWENTY TWENTY. AND THEN OBVIOUSLY THIS YEAR WITH COVID YOU'RE GOING TO LOSE SOME KIDS, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE THAT MANY ON THAT SIGN UP EVERY YEAR.
BUT HOPEFULLY IN THE FALL, YOU KNOW, WE USUALLY HAVE MORE KIDS ANYWAY BECAUSE OF ALL STAR SEASON. SO HOPEFULLY WE HAVE MORE NEW SOCCER COME FALL.
YOU SAW PHONE NUMBERS BARELY DOWN.
YOU TENNIS. WE HAD A PRETTY LARGE YOU TENNIS CLINICS THIS PAST SPRING WITH 30 KIDS.
ALREADY SPOKE ABOUT THE GAME OF FOOTBALL AND ADULT SOFTBALL STILL JUST GROWING.
[01:45:02]
AND WE HAVE AN INCREASE OF ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY TWO ADULTS PLAYING SOFTBALL THIS SPRING THAN THE PREVIOUS SEASON.WE HAVE ACTUALLY ADDED A SENIOR LEAGUE.
WE WERE APPROACHED. A LOT OF A LOT OF THE PARTICIPANTS ARE IN THE HILTON HEAD AREA.
SO THEY'RE PLAYING A BACHER FIELD.
AND WE KIND OF JUST AS NOT HERE.
BUT HE'S THE ONE THAT RUNS OUR ADULT SOFTBALL.
AND HE WE TRY TO HELP THEM OUT BECAUSE THEY REALLY DIDN'T WANT TO PLAY AT NIGHT.
THEY DIDN'T WANT TO PLAY DOUBLEHEADERS LIKE WE USUALLY DO.
SO THEY'RE PLAYING ON TUESDAY AT FOUR O'CLOCK ON, YOU KNOW, WE MADE THE PHILLIES WERE TO WHERE THEY COULD USE A COUPLE OF FIELDS DURING THE DAY.
AND IT REALLY IS REALLY GOING WELL.
WE HAVE SIX TEAMS IN THE SENIOR LEAGUE.
SO THAT'S WHERE WE'VE SEEN A BIG INCREASE IN NUMBERS.
AND I'LL BE VERY SURPRISED IF WE DON'T REALLY THAT AGE GROUP DOESN'T KEEP GOING UP SO THAT WHEN YOU CROSS THE LINE, THAT'S THE AGE GROUP.
I BELIEVE WE DID FIFTY FIVE BASED ON WE WENT WE WENT WITH THE SENIORS FOR THE STATE OF SOCCER IN THE CLASS THAT THEY HAD AND THEY ARE FIFTY FIVE.
AND SO THAT'S WHERE WE THAT'S WHERE WE KIND OF BASED IT ALL FROM.
AND THEN CURRENT REGISTRATIONS THAT ARE GOING ON RIGHT NOW, OBVIOUSLY SUMMER YOUTH BASKETBALL IS GOING ON.
NUMBERS ARE PRETTY IN LINE TO WHAT WE'VE DONE IN THE PAST.
AND THEN WE HAVE A BASEBALL SOFTBALL, WHICH I DON'T.
BASEBALL ACTUALLY START TOMORROW SINCE WE CHANGED THE FEE AT ALL.
SOFTBALL, WE'RE DOING A MEN'S UP IN LEAGUE AGAIN, HOPEFULLY, AND CHURCH LEAGUE AS WELL.
I DON'T IS REALLY WE WE'RE PRETTY CLOSE TO HAVING A TEAM EVEN DURING THE KODET.
SO HOPEFULLY A BASEBALL BEEF WILL KEEP GROWING TO WHERE WE CAN START DOING MORE TEAM SOUNDS RATHER THAN INDIVIDUAL SIGN UPS AND THEN ADULT KICKBALL, WHICH HOPEFULLY THAT NO, I THINK WE HAD TWENTY THREE TEAMS, SOMETHING LIKE THAT BEFORE COVID HIT.
WE STILL HAD A DOUBLE KICKBALL LAST SUMMER, BUT I THINK WE LOST ROUGHLY TWELVE TEAMS NUMBERS WISE. SO BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW MANY TEAMS SIGNED UP FOR ADULT KICKBALL TOURNAMENTS FOR TWENTY.
TWENTY. WE HAD A COUPLE OF TOURNAMENTS THAT WE WERE GOING TO HOST THE GEORGIA SOUTH CAROLINA BORDER BATTLE, YOU KNOW, FROM THE STATE CHAMPIONS AND THE TWELVE YOU FROM GEORGIA AND SOUTH CAROLINA. WE'RE GOING TO PLAY.
THAT WAS CANCELED. OBVIOUSLY, THAT WAS GOING TO BE THE INAUGURAL EVENT AND THEN THE TWENTY TWENTY SOCCER STATE TOURNAMENTS WE ACTUALLY WERE ABLE TO HOST THIS PAST DECEMBER OUT HERE AT BUCKWALTER.
WE STILL HAVE THE MASSIVE MANDATE, BUT WE HAD TEAMS COMING FROM ALL OVER THE STATE, BUT IT'S STILL STILL TURNED OUT TO BE A PRETTY GOOD EVENT FOR US TOURNAMENTS UPCOMING.
WELL, I GUESS TWENTY TWENTY ONE, I GUESS WE DID END UP GETTING TO HOST THE BORDER BATTLE AGAIN. I DON'T REALLY NOT REALLY SURE WHY I PUT THE LINKS ON HERE, BUT WE CUT COUNTY CHANNEL. FORTUNATELY ENOUGH THINGS.
THOSE GUYS, THEY CAME AND WE RECORDED THE GAMES FOR EVERYBODY.
ETHAN, WHO'S ALREADY HAD TO LEAVE.
SO IF YOU COULD SEND THESE LINKS TO YOU GUYS, THOSE ARE THE TEAMS WE HAD ONE OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA TEAMS. MAKE IT IN THE YOU KNOW, THE HENRY COUNTY, GEORGIA TEAM SAID THEY'LL PLAY TWO GAMES, THEY DIDN'T CARE, THEY JUST WANTED TO COME PLAY.
SOME PRETTY GOOD BASKETBALL IS PLAYING BEING PLAYED THAT DAY, PRETTY CLOSE GAMES.
SO IF ANYBODY WANTS THOSE LINKS, LET ME KNOW AND I CAN EMAIL IT TO YOU.
AND THEN THIS SUMMER, WE HAVE TWO TWO TOURNAMENTS THAT WE HAVE.
WE'RE MOVING AWAY FROM DIXIE SOFTBALL FOR A FEW DIFFERENT REASONS.
I DON'T WANT TO REALLY GO INTO THAT.
SCABBED THE SOUTH CAROLINA AFFILIATE PROGRAMS HAS DECIDED AS A BOARD TO TRY TO ADD SOFTBALL AS A PROGRAM.
SO WE'RE GOING TO HOST THE FIRST PALMETTO SOFTBALL STATE TOURNAMENT.
IT'LL BE FOR HOPEFULLY AGES FROM 18 TO 12.
YOU ALL THE WAY UP TO 16 YEAR.
SO IT'LL BE JUNE 24TH TO THE TWENTY SEVENTH BURWELL'S.
THERE'S A LOT OF TEAMS THAT HAVE ALREADY COMMITTED THROUGHOUT THE DAY, INCLUDING OURSELVES OBVIOUSLY TO PLAYING PARAMATTA SOFTBALL.
SO I THINK I THINK WE REALLY CAN GO REALLY WELL.
AND THEN AS IT SEEMS LIKE WE HOST SHARON LOVE TO HOST DIXIE BOYS AND JUNIOR BOYS STATE TOURNAMENT, SO WE WON'T HIT AGAIN JULY 9TH THROUGH THE FOURTEENTH.
AND WE'RE GOING TO HOST THAT AS WELL.
BURWELL'S AS I THINK WE PROBABLY I THINK WE SPOKE ABOUT, I GUESS, AS BRUCE SAID A FEW TIMES SIXTEEN MONTHS AGO, SPORTS COUNCIL OVER THERE.
AND PEOPLE REALLY WANT US TO, YOU KNOW, TRY TO SEE IF WE CAN HOST MORE TOURNAMENTS NORTH OF THE BORDER. AND THAT'S WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO THIS YEAR.
LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. I BELIEVE THAT'S ALL I HAVE IF I HAVE ANYTHING.
HELLO, YOU GUYS HAVEN'T SEEN YOU GUYS FOR A LONG TIME.
THIS IS OUR BATTERY CREEK INDOOR POOL.
WE HAVE OUR BOUGERE CLASSES ON TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS AT FIVE 30.
[01:50:01]
WE HAVE OUR GROUP SWIM LESSONS.THE CURRENT ONE IS MAY 11TH THROUGH JUNE 3RD, AND THAT'S TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS.
WE HAVE A LIFEGUARD CLASS IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW TILL TOMORROW, TILL FRIDAY.
AND THEN WE HAVE OUR WATER AEROBICS IN OUR SWIM TEAMS. WE CURRENTLY DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING AT BATTERY CREEK DUE TO COVID AND EVERYTHING LIKE THAT.
HOPEFULLY WE WILL HAVE THAT UP AND RUNNING SOON.
OUR BUTTAR POOL, WE HAVE OUR BOBI CLASSES MONDAY AND WEDNESDAYS AT FIVE, 30, OUR GROUPS, SOME LESSONS JUST STARTED AND IT'S MONDAY, WEDNESDAYS AND FRIDAYS, MAY 3RD.
WE HAVE OUR LIFEGUARDING CLASS, WHICH IS AT OUR BATTERY CREEK POOL, AND THEN WATER AEROBICS AND SWIM TEAM AS WELL.
WE ARE CURRENTLY WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING GOING ON AT THAT POOL AS WELL.
FOR OUR BLUFFTON POOL, WE HAVE WATER AEROBICS AT NINE THIRTY IN THE MORNING, MONDAY, WEDNESDAYS AND FRIDAYS, OUR GROUP SWIM LESSONS MAY 10 THROUGH THE TWENTY SIX.
THAT'S MONDAY, WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY AS WELL.
OUR LIFEGUARDING CLASS, AGAIN, IS AT BATTERY CREEK POOL AND THEN WE HAVE CURRENTLY NO BOUGERE CLASSES AT BLUFFTON POOL JUST BECAUSE OF EVERYTHING ELSE GOING ON AT THE BLUFFTON POOL. AND OUR SWIM TEAM IS FROM SIX TO EIGHT P.M.
AT NIGHT. WE HAVE CPR CLASSES THAT WE OFFER YEAR ROUND STROKE IMPROVEMENT CLASSES, NORMALLY THOSE ARE FOR ADULTS.
WE HAVE PRIVATE LESSONS AND OUR SCHOOL SWIM LESSONS, THEY ARE NOT GOING ON RIGHT NOW, HOPEFULLY WILL GO ON NEXT SCHOOL YEAR.
BUT WE JUST HAVE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE NEXT SCHOOL YEAR.
ANY QUESTIONS FOR THE FORCE? YOU SAID SIX TO EIGHT.
I THOUGHT THEY WERE USING THE POLLS FROM 6:00 A.M.
SO WHETHER THEY TEST TO SEE WHETHER THEY USE IN THE POLLS, THEY USE IT FROM SIX TO EIGHT MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. SO WE'RE GETTING ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS AN HOUR.
THAT'S SIX TO SEVEN HOUR AND 15 MINUTES.
YOUR EMOTIONS ARE GOING TO BRING BACK MORE INCREDIBLE NEW MOTION.
I WOULD ALSO SAY I WAS OVER AT BUFORD FOR A BASEBALL GAME AND POOLESVILLE ON A WEDNESDAY NIGHT. I THINK IT WAS A WEDNESDAY, MONDAY OR WEDNESDAY.
IT LOOKED LIKE A LOT, YOU KNOW, USUALLY A.
YEAH. ONCE THIS ONE, LESSONS START GOING AND EVERYTHING LIKE THAT SINCE PRETTY MUCH FILL UP THAT POOL. AND THOSE ARE IN THE EVENING, RIGHT.
THOSE ARE ALWAYS IN THE EVENINGS.
YOU CAN DO SOME LESSONS THROUGHOUT THE DAY.
MOST PEOPLE THAT DO IT THROUGHOUT THE DAY, THEIR HOME, SCHOOLS, THINGS LIKE THAT, OR ADULT SWIM LESSONS THAT THEY COME DURING LUNCH AND STUFF.
SO EMPLOYEE UPDATE FOR KHUTSONG TODAY THAT SOMEBODY HAD POSTED, I WISH I WOULD HAVE HAD IT TO PUT UP HERE ON FACEBOOK WHERE SOMEONE SAID 20, 20, WE HAD AN ISSUE WITH TOILET PAPER, 20.
TWENTY ONE, WE HAVE AN ISSUE WITH EMPLOYEES.
AND I THINK EVERYBODY IN OUR ADMIN, WE STILL HAVE THE ONE PART TIME POSITION TO FILL THAT IS GOING TO GET US BACK TO OUR SATURDAYS AT OUR CENTERS.
SO ONCE WE GET THAT ONE FILLED, BUT IT'S BEEN OUT THERE POSTED, WE HAVEN'T HAD REALLY ANYONE TO BLOCK. ATHLETIC MANAGER EVAN WAS PROMOTED FROM ATHLETIC SUPERVISOR TO ATHLETIC MANAGER, AND WE ACTUALLY HAVE A FULL STAFF WITH OUR ATHLETIC SUPERVISORS, WHICH THEY HAD TO LEAVE TO GO BACK TO PROGRAMING AND BEFORE.
BUT WE HAVE DARRELL, JUSTIN AND KEVIN OVER HERE AND THEN ETHAN AND RYAN ARE ON THE BURDEN WELL SIDE. SO WE DO HAVE A FULL STAFF WITH THAT MAINTENANCE.
ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT EARNEST BUZBY, HE'S WORKED FOR US FOR 15 YEARS.
HE WAS PROMOTED TO OUR ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT, BUT WE STILL HAVE EIGHT POSITIONS LEFT TO FILL AND THOSE ARE NOT BEING FILLED EASILY.
RECORDS' WE HAVE SEVEN POSITIONS LEFT TO FILL WITH THAT, GETTING THE HELP THE GUYS NEED AT THE FIELDS AND THE STAFFING AND THE CENTER'S LIFEGUARDS.
WE ACTUALLY JUST DID A COMMERCIAL ON TUESDAY WITH THE COUNTY CHANNEL LOOKING FOR LIFEGUARDS. WE ARE IN TROUBLE RIGHT NOW WITH LIFEGUARDS.
WE HAVE SEVEN SEASONAL LEFT TO FILL, SIX FULL TIME AND FOUR FOR PART TIME.
AND THEN AS I WAS WALKING IN AND HE INFORMED ME THAT ANOTHER ONE OF OUR FULL TIMERS WAS INJURED AT HOME AND ANOTHER ONE OF OUR PART TIMERS IS HAVING TO LEAVE FOR SCHOOL ISSUES SO THAT FOUR PART TIME JUST WENT TO FIVE.
[01:55:01]
THE ONLY THING THAT IS GOING TO SAVE US RIGHT NOW WITH OPENING THE OUTDOOR POOL BY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND IS THE FACT THAT JUNE THE 1ST WE CLOSED THE BLUFFTON POOL TO RESURFACE. AND THAT'S GOING TO BUY US THREE WEEKS.BUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S GOING TO GET US THE STAFF THAT WE NEED.
SO WE MAY HAVE TO REEVALUATE OUR POOL TIMES BECAUSE OUR OUTDOOR POOL IS SUCH A BUSY POOL.
WE'LL GO FINISH FINISHING UP WITH.
YES, MAYBE YOU'LL FIND SOMETHING IN THERE.
I'VE GOT A GOING I NEED TO GET SIX OUT OF THERE.
SO THAT'S WHAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE ON A NATIONAL RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION.
HAD AN ARTICLE ABOUT A NATIONWIDE SHORTAGE OF LIFEGUARDS NATIONWIDE.
SO IF YOU ALL KNOW OF ANYONE, WE NEED THEM THERE.
IT'S GOOD PAY. WE WILL TRAIN THEM.
WE EVEN HAVE A PROGRAM WITH OUR LIFEGUARDS WHERE IF YOU SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFEGUARD CLASS, WE HAVE THAT CONTRACT THAT IF YOU WILL WORK FOR US FOR THE SIX MONTHS, WE WILL DO YOUR LIFEGUARDING CLASS FOR YOU.
AND THEN IF YOU LEAVE IN THAT TIME, WE PRO-RATED SO YOU KNOW, WE WORK WITH YOU ON IT AND WE JUST GOT TO GET THE PEOPLE OUT TO DO IT, SO.
NEXT MEETING IS THURSDAY, JULY THE 1ST.
I'VE GOT ON THE PACKET BEFORE, I WANT I NEED TO CONFIRM THAT WITH BEAVERED BECAUSE WE KIND OF GOT OFF FROM OUR ROTATION WITH COVID.
THE LAST MEETING WE HAD WAS IN BEFORE.
BUT WE'RE KIND OF OFF OF THE ROTATION NOW.
I MEAN, IS IS THERE ANY WAY WE COULD PUSH THAT MEETING? JUST A TERRIBLE WEEK.
I MEAN, IT'S FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND.
YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? WE PUSH IT TO THE SECOND WEEK.
THE SECOND WEEK. AND WE CANNOT WE HAVE TOURNAMENTS.
CAN WE DO IT A WEEK EARLY? WE COULD LOOK AT THAT.
I MEAN, I JUST THINK THAT'S JUST THE WAY WE DO.
HOW ABOUT IF I LOOK AT MOVING INTO TUESDAY INSTEAD OF THURSDAY, I'D BE GREAT.
I'D BE GREAT. YEAH, OK, I'LL LOOK AT THAT AND I'LL GET WITH THE ADMIN BUILDING AND SEE IF THE ROOM. ONE OTHER QUESTION, LOT OF STUFF GOING UP, LEFT AND COOL SEEMED TO ME IN MY RECESSES OF PRE COVID MEETINGS, WE PUMP SOME MONEY IN THE BOTTOM POOLS, BUT NOW WE'RE RESURFACING THE UPPER FLOORS BY THE POOL IN GOOD SHAPE.
WE HAD THE MONEY AND WE STILL HAVE THAT IS BACK OUT.
THAT IS BACK OUT FOR DISCUSSION.
WE STILL HAVE THE MONEY THAT COUNCIL ALLOCATED OUT OF THAT MONEY THAT THEY ALLOCATED.
WE ARE RESURFACING THE POOLS BECAUSE ALL OF THEM HAD TO BE RESURFACED.
THE MONEY IS STILL THERE FOR THE ALLOCATION IT'S BEEN.
IT'S GOING TO GO BACK TO COMMITTEE BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT IT'S GOING TO COST.
WELL, I WAS WORRIED THAT SOMEBODY HERE THAT TOLD US ABOUT THE POOL AND THE POOL WAS IN BAD SHAPE WHEN IT WAS WEST CAMPBELL.
SO DAVE WILHELM IS NOW OVER CAPITAL PROJECTS.
HE AND MYSELF AND MATT MAD ABOUT THIS.
NOT TOO LONG AGO, WE DISCUSSED IT AGAIN.
SO THEY ARE GOING BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD IN.
WHAT WE CAN DO CAN CONTINUE GETTING IDEAS.
DO WE TAKE THE BUILDING DOWN? DO WE HAVE JUST AN OPEN POOL? WHAT DO WE DO? SO THEY'RE GOING TO COME BACK TO THE IDEAS AND ONCE THEY DO, I WILL BRING THAT BACK. BUT THE MONEY WAS ALLOCATED AND THE MONEY STILL IS SITTING THERE AVAILABLE.
WAS IT LIKE 140000 OR SO? IT WAS OVER FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND.
BUT IT'S STILL NOT GOING TO TOUCH.
RIGHT. BUT WE'RE STILL OPERATING IN THIS HOLE UNDER THE SAME REGULATIONS AS BEFORE AND.
YEAH. AND THE BATHROOM FLOOR IS NOW RIGHT IN THE POOLS ARE NOW RESURFACED AND OTHER THAN THAT. RIGHT.
SO WE WON'T MAKE A MOTION TO ADJOURN.
CAN I FIND SOMEONE TO SECOND THAT MOTION MUJER.
