UH, I REACHED OUT TO PHILLIP DIRECTLY AND, UH, UH, AND HE REACHED OUT TO JEFF AND THEY MUTUALLY CONFIRMED THEIR ABILITY TO PRESENT THE TOWN COUNCIL THAT TIME.

SO WE'RE GOING TO USE THOSE SAME FEW SLIDES AS, UM, KIND OF A QUICK INTRO AGAIN, MAYBE A COUPLE OF MINUTES JUST ON, UM, LIKE WHAT THE COORDINATION WAS WITH DDOT, WHAT WERE REVIEWED THINGS THAT WE ANALYZED.

UM, AND, UM, JUST KEY THINGS THAT THE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE HAS BROUGHT UP FOR US TO LOOK AT, UM, WITH THAT.

AND THEN WE'LL GO INTO THE RECOMMENDATIONS, WHICH ARE IN THE REPORT.

SO WE'LL GO THROUGH THOSE, UM, ONE BY ONE AND KIND OF POINT OUT WHAT, WHAT THE HISTORY WAS BEHIND THAT.

AND WHILE WE'RE MAKING THAT RECOMMENDATION, I GUESS SOME OF THE, UM, KEY THINGS THAT I WANTED TO POINT OUT THERE THAT I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH WE'VE GONE THROUGH ON THIS, ON THESE CALLS, BUT AS FAR AS THE RECOMMENDATION GOES, UM, WE HAVE RECOMMENDATIONS, UM, KIND OF A LONG TWO 78.

IT JUST SEEMS LIKE THE, THE LEAST IMPACTFUL AND MOST LIKELY ALTERNATIVE THAT DUT WILL MOVE FORWARD WITH WOULD BE SOMETHING THAT GOES ALONG THAT THE TWO 78 CORRIDOR.

AND SO WE HAVE, UM, GIVEN, UM, RECOMMENDATIONS FOR KIND OF A LOT OF THINGS THAT THE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE HAD CONCERNS ABOUT AS FAR AS SAFETY AND SPEED LIMIT AND THE CHARACTER OF THE CORRIDOR AND HOW TO HANDLE A BIKE LANES AND, UM, HOW TO HANDLE JUST THE CHARACTER GOING THROUGH THIS JOURNEY COMMUNITY, UM, HOW TO HANDLE THE AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC THAT WILL BE GOING THROUGH THERE AND, UM, STILL BEING ABLE TO CROSS PEDESTRIANS AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

SO THAT'S WHERE WE'RE, WE'RE GOING WITH THAT ALSO, UM, TO MY KNOWLEDGE, THE TOWN HAS HIGHER IS UNDER CONTRACT WITH A LAND PLANNER TO LOOK AT SPECIFICALLY THIS AREA EAST OF THE BRIDGES, UM, WITH REGARDS TO, YOU KNOW, CHARACTER, THE ROADWAY AND LAND PLANNING, ADJACENT TO THE RIDGEWAY AND LAND PLANNING AND OTHER AREAS OF THAT, OF THAT, UM, LANDSCAPING, UM, BYPASS.

SO TO THAT SITUATION, AND WE HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THEM A COUPLE OF TIMES.

SO I KNOW THAT THEY

ARE MOVING FORWARD WITH THEIR, UM, REPORT ON, UM, WHAT THIS CORRIDOR SHOULD LOOK LIKE IN THE FUTURE.

SO THAT IS GOING ON AS WELL.

UM, AND THEN I GUESS THE LAST THING I WANTED TO POINT OUT THAT, YOU KNOW, DEITY IS, IS KIND OF FOLLOWING THE NEPA PROCESS.

AND SO I DON'T THINK THEY'VE MADE THEIR PREFERRED ALTERNATIVE PUBLIC YET THAT THAT HAS TO BE SIGNED OFF BY AGENCIES, UM, IN ORDER TO DO THAT.

SO, UM, I THINK A LOT OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE HOPEFUL TO GET INFORMATION FROM DDOT WILL BE AT THE PUBLIC HEARING THAT WILL BE THEIR NEXT OPPORTUNITY TO GET THINGS OUT TO THE PUBLIC.

SO SOME OF THESE RECOMMENDATIONS ARE ITEMS THAT THE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE AND KIND OF THEREBY THE PUBLIC IN GENERAL WOULD LIKE TO SEE IN, TO, YOU KNOW, COST FOR EACH ALTERNATIVE, UM, COST FOR INTERSECTION CONCEPTS, UM, A, UH, TRAVEL TIME MOVING THROUGH THE AREA.

CAUSE I KNOW THE, THE LEVEL OF SERVICE HAS BEEN CONFUSING WITH THE A THROUGH F GRADING.

IT'S NOT NECESSARILY YOUR, UH, GRADE SCHOOL GRADING SCALE.

IT'S A LITTLE DIFFERENT.

SO, UM, I KNOW THAT THE COMMITTEE HAS MENTIONED THAT AT THE TIME TRAVEL OR THE TRAVEL TIME, BUT WHERE THIS CORRIDOR IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IMPROVEMENTS THEY'RE GOING TO BE MADE ON THE CORRIDOR BASED ON THE DIFFERENT INTERSECTION OPTIONS OR WHATEVER DEITY IS GOING TO DO.

SO, UM, THOSE ARE SOME ITEMS THAT I JUST WANTED TO POINT OUT, BUT AGAIN, WE'RE JUST GOING TO GO THROUGH, UM, THE FOUR SLIDES THAT WE HAD AT THE PREVIOUS MEETING WITH, WITH, UM, THE COUNTY AND THEN GO THROUGH, UH, BASICALLY ONE SLIDE, A PIECE ON EACH OF THE, UM, RECOMMENDATIONS THAT WE'VE MADE.

UM, BUT THE COUNCIL THIS EVENING, AND THEN I, I THINK EVERYBODY HAS HAD A CHANCE TO GO THROUGH, UM, OUR RESPONSE MATRIX.

SO I KNOW EVERYBODY HAD SENT EMAILS IN WITH, UM, COMMENTS.

SO WE DID THE BEST I COULD DO TO JUST KIND OF PUT THESE IN A, UM, MATRIX FORMAT WITH, UM, COMMENTS AND THEN, UM, RESPONSES.

I KNOW SOME OF THESE WERE MORE IN, IN PARAGRAPH FORM, BUT I THINK WE DID A DECENT JOB OF PUTTING THOSE IN AND THEN MAKING THOSE RESPONSES TO THE CHANGES THAT WE'VE MADE IN THE REPORT BASED ON YOUR RESPONSES.

SO I REALLY DO APPRECIATE THE VERY, VERY THOROUGH REVIEW THAT EVERYBODY DID ON THE REPORT, UM, AND THE COMMENTS THAT WERE MADE.

AND I THINK WE'VE TAKEN THOSE INTO ACCOUNT IN THE NEW REPORT THAT THAT WAS SENT OUT AS WELL.

SO, UM, I FEEL LIKE IT'S, IT'S PRETTY COMPREHENSIVE AND THAT WE REALLY, UM, FOLLOW THE, THE SCOPE THAT WAS OUTLINED.

AND I FEEL THAT WE'VE SUFFICIENTLY MET THAT.

I THINK ACTUALLY SINCE THERE'S SO MUCH CHOCOLATE GOING ON, I THINK THAT X SENSE IS IF WE WERE TO KEEP THAT CONFIGURATION AND SPANISH WELLS AND WILD HORSE, THAT PARTICULAR INTERSECTION, UM, BECAUSE OF ALL THE LEFT TURNS THAT WOULD BE GOING TO THAT, THAT PARTICULAR INTERSECTION MAY NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY.

UM, DUE TO THE ANGLE THAT ALL THE, ALL THE LEFT TURNS THAT WOULD BE GOING ON TO SQUIRE PEPPER WOULD THEN BE COMING DOWN TO WILD HORSE, HAVE INCREASED TRAFFIC AT THAT SIGNAL.

AND SO MAYBE A SIGNAL THAT WOULDN'T WORK, UM, VERY EFFICIENTLY.

SO THAT REFERENCE TO THE CURRENT TRAFFIC SIGNAL IS A REFERENCE TO THE SPANISH WELLS ROAD SIGNAL.

AND I'M NOT THE ONE IN THE HARBOR, BUT TO, UM, ACTUALLY TO THE ISLAND ITSELF, JENKINS ISLAND, UM, ET CETERA.

WHAT I WAS THINKING ABOUT IS THERE, THERE HAS ALWAYS THE PLAN TO EXTEND THE BLUFFTON PARKWAY ALL THE WAY THROUGH TO US AND TO THE INTERSTATE.

AND I JUST WAS CURIOUS, HAVE YOU, HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF ANY DISCUSSION BY DDOT TO LOOK AT A NEW SET OF BRIDGES ACROSS THE WATER, UH, TO HILTON HEAD ISLAND? DOES THAT EVER COME UP IN ANY OF YOUR DISCUSSIONS? SO I, I KNOW, I THINK, UM, RISA QUESTION THAT AS WELL.

UM, AND I THINK IT WAS ONE OF THE QUESTIONS IN THE COMMENT MATRIX THAT THERE'S BEEN DISCUSSIONS ABOUT THAT, UH, I THINK MAYBE ON THE LOCAL LEVEL, BUT THAT PARTICULAR PROJECT HAS NOT EVER MADE IT INTO A LONG RANGE PLAN TO OUR KNOWLEDGE, OR, UM, EVEN THE, THE LOCAL COUNCILOR GOVERNMENT PLAN, UM, OR EVEN THE, UM, DUTY THAT WHAT THE STATE, UM, TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PLAN.

I DON'T THINK THAT HAS HAPPENED.

THE ONLY REAL REFERENCE THAT I SAW FROM DDOT WOULD BE IN THERE.

UM, THE 19 PRELIMINARY ALTERNATIVES THAT THEY LOOKED AT, UM, I KNOW ALTERNATIVE SAID THERE'S LIKE SIX, A SIX, B SIX C, I BELIEVE THAT'S RIGHT.

AND THOSE WERE ALL SORT OF, UH, NEW LOCATION, UM, ALTERNATIVES THAT THEY LOOKED AT.

BUT AS FAR AS, UH, PUTTING IN A LONG RANGE PLAN OR SOME OTHER STUDY, I, I HAVE NOT SEEN THAT.

HAVE YOU, JARED? NO.

UM, THE EXTENSION TOWARDS THE INTERSTATE ON THE WEST SIDE, UH, ONCE THERE A BLUFFTON PARKWAY, IT'S ACTUALLY WHAT THE PARKWAY IS ENTIRELY ACCOUNTING OWNED ROAD.

UM, SO THAT WOULD BE MORE OF A COUNTY PROJECT AS FAR AS THE EXTENSION WESTWARD.

UM, AND I WOULD ALMOST, THE VOT WOULD HAVE THAT SAME STANDPOINT GOING EASTWARD CONNECTING TO THE ISLAND.

SO I HAVEN'T SEEN THAT ANYTHING BESIDES WHAT PHILIP IS DESCRIBED AS THE ALTERNATIVE, I DON'T KNOW ONCE YOU GET, I THINK YOU MIGHT'VE BROKE UP.

YEAH.

I WAS JUST SAYING, ONCE YOU GET PAST THE, UH, THE COST AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT AND, AND OTHER, UM, ISSUES, IT, IT HAS A LOT OF MERIT.

I MEAN, YEAH, YEAH.

I THINK, UM, MY, BETWEEN MY HAIR, UH, I, MY, MY, MY DAUGHTER HAS, MY DAUGHTER HAS A CONDO ON PENSACOLA BEACH AND YOU GO ACROSS THAT THREE MILE BRIDGE TO GET TO SANTA ROSA ISLAND FROM PENSACOLA AND A BARGE BROKE LOOSE LAST YEAR, SLAMMED INTO THE UNDERPINNINGS.

AND THAT, THAT BRIDGE WAS COMPLETELY CLOSED TO TRAFFIC.

UH, I THINK IT STILL IS.

I'M NOT EXACTLY SURE, BUT IT WAS CLOSED FOR MONTHS.

AND IT MEANT THAT PEOPLE HAD TO TAKE AN ALTERNATIVE BRIDGE, WHICH WAS LIKE 23 MILES FURTHER NORTH, UM, THAT, UM, IF, IF WE HAVE EVER HAD, UM, AN ISSUE LIKE THAT, IT'S JUST, YOU KNOW, THAT'S JUST ONE OF THE THINGS OUT THERE THAT, UM, COMES TO MIND WITHOUT AN ALTERNATIVE, UM, INFERENCE WAY OR EXIT OFF OF THE ISLAND, ESPECIALLY IN A HEAVY STORM.

UH, YOU KNOW, I DON'T KNOW, IT'S JUST THAT SOMETHING, A LOT OF PEOPLE, UM, HAD TALKED TO ME ARE VERY SUPPORTIVE AND BEING EITHER ANOTHER BRIDGE ACROSS THE WATER TO HILTON HEAD ISLAND ARE EVEN PEOPLE HAD DISCUSSED TUNNELING.

AND I DON'T KNOW THE IMPACT OF EITHER OF THOSE IN TERMS OF ENVIRONMENT OR COST, IF COST IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH SOME PEOPLE HAVE RAISED, THEN, UH, MAYBE THAT'S A LESSER POINT TO BE RAISED, BUT, UH, I KNOW THERE CERTAINLY WOULD BE ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES, UM, THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE OVERCOME, BUT, UM, IT, IT HAS TREMENDOUS

UM, AND AS YOU KNOW, WE HAVE, WE'VE ALWAYS SAID THAT THERE SHOULD BE AN ALTERNATIVE ROUTE COMING TO HILTON AS OPPOSED TO THE EXISTING, BUT MIGHT SAY THAT'S THE PURVIEW, BUT IS SOMETHING, AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE IMPLEMENTED IN THE FUTURE.

SO THAT'S ESSENTIALLY MY COMMENT.

WELL, I SAID IT, IT, THERE'S SOME, UH, SECONDARY AND TERTIARY BENEFITS OUT OF THIS STUDY THAT I THINK THAT WERE TEASED OUT.

AND THAT, THAT IS DEFINITELY ONE OF THEM, UH, ALTERNATE ROUTE TO THE ISLAND, WHEREVER THAT CONNECTION POINT MAY BE IS SOMETHING WHERE CONSIDERATION.

SO, ALL RIGHT, THEN, UM, WELL, AGAIN, I JUST, UH, I FELT IT WAS PROBABLY WORTHWHILE FOR US TO JUMP ON JUST TO HAVE A KIND OF CLOSE OUT CALL.
